Schiffner has now retired, but coached baseball for 42 years. Schiffner played on the Cape, at the professional level, and was a scout for the Montreal Expos. Schiffner coached the Chatham Anglers organization as assistant coach from 1978-1982, returned in 1990 as the Anglers third base coach, and was named manager in 1993 until the announcement of his retirement in the summer of 2017.
