This year's Fated Mates Live was a little different than those we've hosted before, as it was also launch day for Sarah's These Summer Storms! We celebrated in style in the Midwest, hosted by the fabulous team at indie bookstore (and romance lovers), Novel Neighbor and joined by our absolute favorite, Kate Clayborn. So many Firebirds turned out to celebrate with us from across the midwest to help Sarah learn the intricacies of Midwestern Romance Heroes™️, to talk about Derek Craven and others, and to celebrate Storms in style. The audience was, unfortunately, without microphones, so some of the event has been edited from this recording, but we hope you'll get the vibes -- and learn a little about the midwest! (We apologize for the Indiana and Connecticut shade within.) Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate with us -- we couldn't have asked for a better event, or a better launch day for These Summer Storms. Thank you for reading, for hanging, and for standing in an endless line to meet us and spend a little of your rainy Tuesday with us!

Summary: There are a lot of different brands fighting for market share in the "polished" segment of the restaurant industry. To stand out, you need to offer great food, at great value, in a great atmosphere. Since joining the Firebirds team in 2003, Steve has helped open dozens of locations, as the brand has grown from three restaurants in two states to 60 plus locations in 22 states.Steve joins us to talk about Firebirds' approach to innovation, their commitment to customer experience, and their plans to expand their reach even further in the coming years. For Australian netball legend Laura Geitz, it all comes back to wanting the same pair of shoes as her older sister and a competitive drive that only a younger sibling can relate to. Fresh off being named in the Sport Australia Hall of Fame, Geitz chats to Declan Byrne on ‘The Saturday Sledge' about coming late to netball at age 13, what she learned by leading her country and why her eldest son is more excited about NRL icon Cam Smith getting into the Hall of Fame.

Welcome to Spitting Nonsense—where two self-proclaimed amateurs, Jasmine and Zach, chat about all things nerdy (and plenty that's not). None of this is fact, but it's definitely our brand of nonsense! We're still recording regularly—no promises on hitting exact days anymore—but you can always count on us for plenty of off-the-wall commentary. And now, you can leave comments on Spotify! Tell us what's on your mind; we see every comment and might even respond on the show. Thanks for listening, and enjoy the nonsense!
Super Netballround five brought us plenty of entertaining viewing as several coaches gave their teams a spray in the timeout huddles. The closest game all weekend was decided by eight goals, as mistakes were plenty and the contests became scrappy. Firebirds co-captain Ruby Bakewell-Doran came out publicly to support her friend and ex-teammate Remi Kamo in a brave show of solidarity, as she continues to call out mistreatment and a lack of accountability at her old club. Plus, we discuss the confusion around the New Zealand Silver Ferns eligibility rules. Do you need to be a centurion to play abroad or not? The athletes seem to be on a different page to the national netball board.

The news is out. The world's best goal keeper is pregnant and will miss the rest of the 2025 Super Netball season. But did the Adelaide Thunderbirds start the ongoing speculation about Shamera Sterling-Humphrey by bringing her replacement to Australia so early? The Giants upset the Thunderbirds, the Vixens continued their dominance in the Melbourne Derby, the Fever pinched a win late against the Lightning and the Swifts defeated the Firebirds to go eight points clear at the top of the ladder. The ANZ Premiership is also about to start in New Zealand and despite there being real concerns about the future of the competition, we are very excited to have it back. Gabi Simpson has been a last-minute surprise signing for the Central Pulse and she joins us to chat about her return to elite netball after spending more than a year out of the game.
The 'Birds (again) earn a postseason advance past Calgary, and now move on to face the Abbotsford Canucks in the Division Semifinal. Robert Irwin is not only the face of a new racy Australian underwear campaign, he's also a brand new Sunshine Coast Lightning fan. The zookeeper sent the crowd into a frenzy at the Queensland Derby as he delivered the match ball. In other news, Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard and the Fever are back. Cara Koenen has slotted her first super shot in two years. The Firebirds have been dealt a reality check and the Vixens were smothered by some tough defence. Plus we unpack the mess unfolding at Netball South Africa as president Cecilia Molokwane faces allegations of corruption and bullying.

It's a very special 32nd episode! It's the final episode before our summer break and the final episode for producer extraordinaire, Grant Beery as he heads off to a new gig. As the Seattle Kraken wrap up the '24-'25 season, our hosts Piper Shaw and JT Brown sit down with goaltender Joey Daccord to talk about his journey so far with the organization. After being selected in the Expansion Draft, leading the Firebirds to the Calder Cup Final, and now gaining the starting netminder job, Joey discusses what this organization means to him and why he's committed long term to Seattle.
