Southeastern 16's Graham Doty and Chris Lee speak with Vanderbilt baseball coach Tim Corbin about the Commodores' 2025 season and fall workouts that just ended. Topics include: How did Corbin process last season? The Commodores came out of nowhere to win the Southeastern Conference tournament and claim the No. 1 seed for the NCAA tournament thanks to a stellar resume. But the Commodores finished third in the Nashville Regional. How does Corbin process that in hindsight? The changing climate of college baseball and how Corbin has adjusted to the transfer portal. Did Tim Corbin really drive a golf cart through downtown Nashville rush-hour traffic? How will Vanderbilt use star pitcher Connor Fennell this season? Experienced pitching depth that includes Miller Green, Alex Kranzler, Brennan Seiber and others. The progress of Austin Nye, Matthew Shorey and other young arms. New arms Nate Taylor and Aiden Stillman should help. The addition of a number of transfers, including brothers Logan and Carter Johnstone from (Washington State and Cal State Fullerton, respectively, plus Tennessee Tech's Mack Whitcomb. Vanderbilt's lineup is unsettled for 2026, but the Commodores have no shortage of bodies. Where might Brodie Johnston settle? A surprising possible position designation for Braden Holcomb. Recorded: June 16th, 2025 | On this episode of Best of the Bus, The Boys sat down with one of the most electric quarterbacks in college football — Diego Pavia. Pavia shared his wild journey from being a standout wrestler in high school to calling his own plays at New Mexico State and leading the Aggies to a historic upset win over Auburn. Diego opened up about being overlooked as a recruit, how he maximized his time at NMSU, and what the transition has been like moving into the SEC at Vanderbilt. He broke down the behind-the-scenes story of the Commodores’ shocking upset over No. 1 Alabama and what that win meant for the program. The conversation also hit on whether he considered entering the transfer portal again, the expectations for his first full SEC season, and just how much Coach Jerry Kill impacted his entire football journey. And of course — Diego doubled down on his belief that Vanderbilt would run Tennessee this year and even said the Commodores could make the College Football Playoff. It was bold, hilarious, and absolutely peak Diego. It’s the kind of interview that makes you root for the dude. Enjoy.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Southeastern 16 previews Vanderbilt's trip to Texas for a game with College Football Playoff implications. The game will be shown at 11 Central on ABC and FanDuel favors Texas by 2 1/2. Topics in our preview include: Arch Manning had perhaps his best game as a collegiate in an overtime win at Mississippi State. However, Manning suffered an injury and didn't play in overtime. Will he play and if so, how effective can he be? Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia has had underwhelming stat lines vs. Alabama and Missouri. However, Pavia is capable of delivering game-changing plays, and delivered the game-winner against Missouri. Texas's defense has given up significant yardage in SEC games, however, some of that has been due to a high snap count for the defense. The Commodores couldn't keep their offense on the field enough against Missouri, but, won the game anyway thanks to a defense that made many timely plays. Watch out for special teams. Vanderbilt has an elite kicker in Brock Taylor and the Longhorns have a game-changing punt returner in Ryan Niblett. *GAMETIME SIDEKICKS* Use promo code SE16 for 20% off! http://www.gametimesidekicks.com/ HOF Get a 7-Day Free Trial + 50% Off your first month with code SE16. College Football week 8 reactions are here as Saturday was explosive. Florida has fired Billy Napier after Florida’s season came off the rails. Where will the Gators turn? LSU vs Vanderbilt saw the Commodores get another huge win while Tennessee vs Alabama featured Kalen DeBoer and the Tide continuing to roll. The week 9 edition of the AP Poll dropped tonight as we get updated rankings. Where is Indiana? Is Miami still top 10? Ohio State, UGA, and Alabama were also winners this weekend. Do we still see Texas in the top 20? Hugh Freeze is facing considerable heat at Auburn as speculation about the hot seat has ramped up. The same could be said for Mike Norvell at FSU and Brian Kelly at LSU. All that plus early best bets on the Ramen Noodle Express.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
