The Next Binge Thing

On the series finale of The Next Binge Thing Gabe and Amber reflect on their wild ride the past 5 1/2 months of Quar. There's laughter, tears, eye rolls, and more laughter. It's the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter. Thanks for coming on the ride with us.

First episode with Amber and Gabe living apart and so much has happened. Amber is living in a treehouse in an artist loft in Bushwick and Gabe is microdosing while doing his taxes. There are fireworks going off at all hours and it's hailing during BLM protests. NYC is wild.

In this episode we talk about cops both real and robotic. Amber is uninterested in narratives about police while Gabe thinks they can provide critical analysis and insight. This episode gets a bit dramatic and is the last episode where we are living together. We will be continuing the podcast but now as exs living separately, not together, but still friends. We've missed you but we're back! In this episode Amber and Gabe catch you up on what's been happening in NYC. They talk about Amber's arrest at a Black Lives Matter protest, bike cop riot gear and cop's apparent love of avocado toast.

We watched an episode of the Midnight Gospel and Final Destination on Netflix the previous evening and this is what comes out. 

In this episode Amber listens to Gabe's dream, she's such a good friend. They talk about Victoria Secret closing it's doors, entropy and attraction to cartoons. They also delve into the movie they just watched "Capital in the 21st Century."

In this episode Amber and Gabe dive into The Midnight Gospel again. They talk about zoom comedy shows, respecting people's journeys and how giving up on Monday can help? We're still not sure how this will go.

In this episode Amber and Gabe talk about how people get brainwashed and how to brainwash yourself. It's a very punk rock way of talking about enlightenment. They talk about mindfulness and the need for it to be taught to law enforcement, shout out to Mindful Junkie for doing that work. This all of course connects to Waco, which they just finished watching, and also the world we are living in right now.

On this very special Mother's Day episode, Gabe gets Amber to watch episode one of Waco on Netflix. Amber has never heard of Waco or David Koresh. This is going to be a treat. We talk about cults, yoga, guns, and anti-vaxxers, and rock n'roll.

Amber and Gabe talk about geeking out on your own interests. What is your road less traveled? In this episode Amber and Gabe talk about Unorthdox, both the show and ways of living. Both of them have taken roads less traveled and though it is rough clearing the brush as they go, they think it is worth it. They both loved watching Shira Haas' character Este. Gabe is obsessed with Moishe, though Amber has less interest in him. Gabe has been using a Yiddish accent since they started the show.  

We are so blessed Nature is reclaiming the planet. Today Amber and Gabe talk about the dolphins of Venice, the rats of New York, and journaling to identify our frustrations. We watched the remote broadcast of SNL this week. And the middle-aged mutant ninja turtles hit too close to home.

Rather than talking about a TV drama, in this very special episode Amber and Gabe talk about the real drama they are living. They talk about Amber meeting Mr. T and Gabe shows off his Big DC Energy. This episode was released a little late due to being in a pandemic. The show they talked about for Covid Bail Out NYC was a hit and helped raise almost 30K to get people out of NYC jails, where Covid-19 is spreading faster than anywhere in the world. Everyone is as bad as Joe Exotic  Amber and Gabe breeze through episodes 2-4 of Tiger King this week, discussing cult-like business practices, unsolved murders, and ecstasy popping swingers smuggling Tiger cubs.  They also discuss raising money for bail for New Yorkers currently in jail, and how to cope with Corona Quarantine.

A Tsunami of Orange Fangs and Claws Tearing Through the Trailer Park   Amber and Gabe continue to peacefully co-exist while sequestered in their railroad apartment, although these two are clearly meant to roam free over a wide open range. Today they looking at the world of Big Cat private zoos in Tiger King, a looney tunes documentary centered around the contentious relationship between Joe Exotic, Carole Baskin, and Doc Antle. Join them as they explore a subculture that is both extremely alien and singularly American. Amber has personal connections to this story as she had the same guru as Doc and is herself an Alumni of Yogaville.  And Gabe learns he doesn't have to limit himself to singing happy birthday twice while washing his hands. He's free to pick another song.    

In this episode Amber and Gabe continue watching McMillions, the 6 part docuseries on the McDonald's monopoly scam. Before they get into the show our co-hosts clear the air from the latest quarantine quibble and talk about how to communicate as exs/roommates in this brave new world. Then Amber and Gabe talk about how this scam is not a victimless crime, messy mob wives and what else the FBI could have been doing in 2001.
