Have you ever chatted with someone who pushed you to consider what it means to go after your creative projects day in and day while staying true to yourself and your values? Is that even possible? And, what does it really look like to grow and evolve your craft with integrity especially in the comedy scene? In this episode, we hear from Gabe Pacheco, a thought-provoking storyteller, performer, podcaster and comic with over a decade of experience performing comedy all over the city and country. As you'll come to understand through this conversation, Gabe has a strong sense of values and we often felt like we were chatting with a local philosopher. Topics in this episode include: The origins of Gabe's podcast “Halal Cartels” with co-host Sameer Naseem What it means to be in his “third childhood” and on “the bleeding edge of progress” The importance of incorporating “grace” into your philosophy as a creative The hustle in comedy and how part of showing up consistently is surrounding yourself with others who aspire to be better How Gabe landed the gig co-hosting a weekly comedy show at Pete's Candy Store Having an ideology before you start to put yourself out there and knowing the boundaries you won't cross The emergence of transphobia on the comedy scene Why it's important not to hold performers to their past selves and leaving space open for self-critique and growth Reflecting on mistakes Gabe has made on stage Willingness to abandon a fan base to speak your truth Understanding who the gatekeepers are and whether or not your message aligns with theirs as a metric for whether or not you should keep your day job Traversing anti-capitalist topics on stage with audiences outside of Brooklyn Why it's important to build, invite and create your community vs waiting for your community to appear Psychedelics and personal growth What he loves about living in the city and the connection to people How he hates the struggle required for so many to live and stay here What utopia of a living situation looks like and means to Gabe Why the movie Blade Runner helped shape his world view Keep up with Gabe's work here or by connecting with him on Instagram or Twitter. Gabe Pacheco (Eat Pray Judge Podcast) and I enjoyed wonderful Teriyaki wings from Wings over Raleigh during the Oak City Comedy Festival. We talked about being half-Mexican, family, a little bit of politics and comedy. We also obsessed over a George W. Bush doppelgänger and I pretty much just talked Gabe’s ear off because he’s such a great interviewer.
From The Poppy Family to the Prince Family to Prince Paul, this episode with Gabe Pacheco has it all! We have a wonderful chat with Gabe, who is a hilarious and insightful comedian and teacher in NYC about one of his favorite albums: the underrated Hip Hopera A Prince Among Thieves by genius producer Prince Paul. Also, Kyle eats a sandwich that agrees with him, THANK GOD.
I promised Gabe Pacheco a lovely intro, but he did a great job on his own. 1st things first, Gabe's first official album, Risky Behavior, dropped last month! Get it here on iTunes. What makes Gabe him "weird" in his own mind as a kid. He explains his early experiences with mortality. He shares a negative story that he battles when he's trying to take action. I respond with my fear of "to do lists."What do YOU think about "routines" and "discipline?" Are they good or boring? Also, just for kicks, what's the "right way" to get a massage? We wrap it up with a few minutes on faith, meditation, and the assumptions kids make about adults.Check out his website here.his twitterhis instagram

We talk a lot about doing double duty, for him, as a comic and school teacher, and maintaining social health when you lose your day-job friends. After you listen to this, check out Gabe's new album "Risky Behavior" available wherever you stream stuff. Thanks for listening! quittingcomedypodcast@gmail.com

On this very exciting episode of the Katie Halper Show, Gabe Pacheco and I talk about the Trump administration's decision to omit the words "Jews" and"antisemitism" from its Holocaust Memorial Day statement. While the administration seriously pretends they did so because they have an intersectional understand of the Holocaust and want to honor all victims, we're pretty sure it's because they're Nazi-courting. Then we talk to journalist Eoin Higgins about why he called for a general strike. We bring in journalists Natasha Lennard and Arun Gupta to debate the if, when, why and how of a general strike and what opposition to Trump can and will look like. Check out the bonus debate between Gupta and Lennard over the role of black block, violence and Nazi-punching in organizing against Trump. https://www.patreon.com/posts/7982160
INTERVIEW WITH BROADDRICK https://soundcloud.com/katie-halper/juanita-broaddrick-on-being-raped-by-bill-clinton-thrown-under-the-bus On this episode of The Katie Halper Show, Katie Halper and Gabe Pacheco talk to Katie Baker, who wrote the Buzzfeed profile on Juanita Broaddrick. In 1999, Broaddrick accused Bill Clinton of raping her in 1978 in her hotel room in Little Rock Arkansas. Not surprisingly, the mainstream-liberal feminist media responded with a deafening silence, which was shattered by Wonkette's Rebecca Schoenkopf. Schoenkopf, who is a Hillary Clinton supporter, was the only one not on the right wing to respond to the story and wound up issuing a bit of a rape apology. The same week that the Buzzfeed story came out, feminists were tweeting "believe women." But it wasn't in reference to Broaddrick. It was in reference to the women who had accused a New York comedian of raping them. Gabe talks about the rape controversy rocking the NYC comedy scene, Kurt Metzger and Amy Schumer.
In today's episode, Gastor sits down with Gabe Pacheco. Gabe is a comedian based out of Brooklyn, NY by way of DC. During the interview we talk about his love of show producing, the comedy-short Simfield, and what he's set out to do in comedy. On experiencing as much as possible in life: If you've already done it once why do you need to do it again? why repeat? Life is too short. On creating comedy in several different genres: In the past, people were told to pick a lane. But we have so many other aspects to us. You should be able to find a way to express yourself in all the mediums. Be a fully-formed human being. GabePacheco.com Stoops2Stages.com
