POPULARITY
You've heard us say it before and it's never been more true than it is now: This is the wildest guest pitch we've ever heard. Rax King and Amber Rollo, the hosts of Low Culture Boil, have reimagined the 2011 Edgar Wright film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World as an X-rated bloodbath slasher movie starring a certain very large six-time world champion professional wrestler. How will this new interpretation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's graphic novels honor its legacy as a genre-mashing transmedia personal critique that went over the head of roughly half of its audience? Listen here to find out! Our partner podcast this week is 52 Pickup! 52 Pickup is a podcast about the strange and wonderful DC Comics series 52. Every other week, join Gita Jackson of Aftermath and Alex Jaffe of the podcast Insert Credit as we take you on an issue-by-issue journey through a comic book series that explains everything about the DC universe, if you only look hard enough.

CHAOS REIGNS this month's dumpster dive, aka LCB's top trash picks, as we are without Rax, but joined by new third member Amber Rollo. The crew meanders through a countdown including fishnets and a spongy, yellow, unionized friend we all love to hate.
This is Love Hurts. Amber Rollo is a comedian living in Los Angeles. In the beginning of March 2020, Amber decided to call off her two-year engagement. Instead of having a clean break, her and her ex suddenly had to shelter-in-place for the pandemic, and she was stuck spending much more time around someone she wasn't planning on being with anymore. Amber is doing a live recording of her comedy album April 9th and 10th. More details here. Amber's podcast she made with her ex Gabe is called The Next Binge Thing. Our theme song is EmoTown by Mikki Hommel. Follow Love Hurts on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and rate and review on Apple Podcasts! Comedian and author Amber Rollo sinks her low culture fangs into the pod today to talk some bat-munching family fun. The Osbournes gave viewers a reality TV experience that was unprecedented, and the LCB crew is very much here for the chaos, cussing, and cocaine that fueled this television phenomenon. When I read about the three people who challenged Harvey Weinstein at a show for young artists, I tried to imagine what I would have done if I’d walked in to an event and found him there. I hope I’d have been as brave as Kelly Bachman, Zoe Stuckless and Amber Rollo but I don’t know. Would I be the first person to say something to him? Probably not. I’m not particularly confrontational. But I would have, I’m fairly certain, created a hex on the spot and I would have quietly but forcefully cast some kind of spell. I’m not a witch – but I think I’d just become one if I were put in a room with a monster. To keep reading What to Do When Weinstein Shows Up at the Bar, visit the Songs for the Struggling Artist. TRIGGER WARNING (see topic for reference). Comedian Caitlin Reese came by to talk about one of the unfortunate realities of being in relationships: cheating! Unfortunately, most of us have experience with this act, whether we were the perp, victim, or the side piece. Or perhaps you have people in your life whose cheating has affected you even though you aren’t romantically involved. We talk all about physical and emotional cheating, why we do it, and how to cope with the aftermath. There was so much to cover here and impossible to tackle it all. Before we re-opened all our relationship wounds, we talked about Halloween and a real-life monster that past guest Amber Rollo unexpectedly encountered and confronted. And as always, we end on a listener question about mental health in relationships. –Get tickets to Dyke The Halls: A Dyking Out Holigay Spectacular at Joe’s Pub, December 16! -Get extra episodes by joining out Patreon community. -For related content, follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Leave Us a Review if you like what you hear! -Like our theme song? What is it like to live without a dad? How about without a dad AND a mom? Does a lack of parent's stunt or accelerate an artist's growth? How did they learn to tie thier shoes? Orphan comedians, Amber Rollo and Chanel Ali, have a guest on each week to talk about it and laugh at some supremely dark stuff. Listen to their stories from the luxury of your parent's guest room, while lamenting how hard it is to not have a struggle. Remember, we are proud of you. In this episode Amber and Chanel talk with comedian Ben Wasserman about growing up with a sick father and his father's recent passing. He's done a lot for his family and is truly an inspiration. See him live every Monday on Side Ponytail at Friends and Lovers in BK. His comedy is always different and dope. Before that we chat about Prince Harry's new promotion, Dylan McDermott's new show (LA to Vegas), and Rosie Odonnell. In this season, we've invited two people who are already in a relationship and record their conversation. In this episode of the podcast, Amber Rollo(http://www.amberrollo.com/) and Gabe Pacheco(https://www.gabepacheco.com/) ask questions about their lives together.

How much do you know about women who strip? Before this episode, we knew at least one thing: many of them date other women. But what’s it really like to be the subject of the male gaze for pay? Stand up comedian and podcaster Amber Rollo dykes out with us about her former gig as a stripper (we learned that exotic dancer is NOT the preferred term). Needless to say, this episode is quite revealing! We also talk about the Golden Globes, dead lesbians, and the newly minted #MineToo movement that we’re hoping will gain traction. If you like us, follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Leave Us a Review!
Amber Rollo left the glitter-ridden stripper stage for a different stage with a less sturdy pole and a solid brick wall. Amber and I exchanged dirt to prepare for our roast battle at The Stand Comedy Club in New York City. I learned that she was an awkward bisexual youth with dead parents. She learned that a bunch of idiots with questionable taste used to pay me to take my clothes off on webcam. This week’s Manwhore Podcast ends with the critique of a listener’s sexting novellas—upon his request! PLUS: alcoholism, bisexual, erotica, privileged stripping, and James Joyce farts!
