We're coaches who care and we want to fundamentally change the way you approach fitness. We discuss topics from strength training to mental health with a bit of #realtalk.
It's been so long since our last chat that JADE HAD A BABY! Even if you don't know Jade, as a woman hearing someone's birth story is pretty special. Grab a drink, and get stuck in.. it's less than 30mins too!
Coach Jade's experience having her bub Aiden during a pandemic. "The World Health Organisation declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic two days before I gave birth to my son…" #virtualvillage
We're back! Even though this may not be time for #AllTheGains, you've still got everything you need to keep your fitness and strength during this time. Here's a few tips on training at home - without just doing 10000 x burpees.
Hey! What a whirlwind of a week. We'll be releasing a blog fortnightly for a little while, while Jade takes some much needed time to love her new bubba Aiden! We hope you can resonate with this blog post, helping you focus on what you can do today to help with goals for your future. Stay safe, we'll be coming into your ears again this week to bring you some good vibes during this time, so look out for our next "Hot Ones" episode soon. xx
This year at Treign we are celebrating International Women’s Day by finding ways to elevate and support the women in our lives, because we are so much stronger when we stand together. So in the spirit of #womensupportingwomen, here are five ways in which women are fucking phenomenal (like you didn’t already know you are, you sly fox). (Head to our BLOG for the written version - if you're into that kind of thing)
Women!! Yep, we think we're pretty great.. but we also feel women are other womens biggest critics. Why do we have to be like that with each other? What's our deal? We chat about mum shame, social media fakeness and how to throw kindness out like confetti by "being the girl in the bathroom" (you'll understand later).. So here's a premature HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY LADIES! xx
Our coach Jade wrote this one.. "I basically don’t remember what it feels like to NOT be pregnant at this point, but I certainly know a few things now that I wish people had warned me about before all this began…"
We think the main thing we've learnt in our years in fitness is that there's more than one way to live a 'healthy life' and they don't all look like weighing your chicken. Join us in exploring some of our thoughts on this - we had a bit of fun in this one. xx
Honestly, we’re pretty tired of women subjecting themselves to bullshit extremes to achieve their body composition goals, so we’ve put together a list of red flags to help you identify where you’re going wrong when it comes to weight loss. **If you feel that your weight loss goals are having a negative impact on your self worth or affecting your quality of life, please seek professional help. Your weight loss goals should never come at the cost of your mental or physical health. **
Yep, we've had this discussion before.. (we think it's scattered in a multitude of episodes haha) but why do we have a women's only gym? Is it sexist? Why do they exist and why does are some men threatened by them? Let us know your thoughts, feelings & emotions on this issue on instagram @treign.fitness xx
Why we think it's beneficial to start training NOW (if you can, before you're pregnant) and the steps to help you start! Can't remember all the tips? Head to our blog for a written version. xx

Yep, it seems abs are still a thing. Still something to be desired and trained for.. but how necessary are they REALLY for a healthy life? This might be the message you're needing to hear today. Enjoy!
Now, I know implementing 20 tips at once may seem overwhelming, but I guarantee there’s at least 3 suggestions on this list that you can take action on today, and by reducing your energy and water consumption, you’ll actually end up saving money. It’s win, win!
This episode we chat about training during pregnancy, why you should want to be strong whilst pregnant and what training could look like whilst pregnant. All of our information on this podcast is our own opinion and experience working with pregnant women and two of our first hand experience whilst pregnant and training. The advice we give is general - so for specific information please talk to your doctor or womens health physio who will work with you 1:1 Want more about pregnancy and fitness? Stay tuned!
This is not about how to “survive the holidays”, or how to stop overeating, or any other restrictive bullshit you have probably seen circulating around online at this time of year. No. Christmas is a bloody magical time of year, and we wouldn’t dream of trying to take that away from you. However, there are some easy wins that you can incorporate to help you come out the other end of the holidays without feeling like a sack of dehydrated mashed potatoes.
This audio blog is our second most popular blog post for 2019! So here it is in it's audio version.. "Knowledge is power, and the way you express that power is through the choices you make."
This week we chat about the 3 things that you should be nailing in order to live a healthy life. Hydration, Sleep and Movement are seriously undervalued and yet there is so much we can do to excel in these areas of our life.
We know so many of you are exhausted, it’s been a big f@#king year right!? Listen in and report back - are you feeling a bit burnt out?

Our first chat with all four of the coaches at Treign Fitness! We're calling it the 'Treign Table Talk' (Red Table Talk we're coming for ya!) Our coaches talk about their personal experiences with their menstrual cycle, being on the pill, coming off the pill and an experience with such low calories that one coach had a completely dormant cycle for years. Subscribe on Spotify, iTunes & Soundcloud Stay connected via the 'gram & Facebook @treign.fitness
We're all for eating a vegetarian/vegan diet for whatever reasons you see fit (you do you girl) But let's get a few things straight about some of the claims this Netflix documentary has made about eating plant based.
Has the fitness industry made the entry level seem unattainable to gen pop? Are aesthetic changes the only reason most people train? And is there any coming back from the damage that's been done? Sit down, grab a coffee and enjoy.
What are Audio Blogs? They're the audio versions of the written blogs we post every week on our website. Why? Because we know how easy it is to listen to a few minutes of audio rather than read a blog post, and we think it's the future. We hope you dig it too. ---- We don’t actually want everyone to join our gym. Probably not what you were expecting me to say, but it’s the raw, honest truth…

It’s a confusing time in the fitness space. Around every new corner there is a fitness expert or influencer selling an online program, or jumping on the bandwagon of a new training craze. With so many options though, we’re left with so. many. questions. This is the shiz we know to be true.
In this episode we spoke to final year BHSc Naturopathy student (and friend) Renee Lynch about pre and postpartum health as well as all things in between. - Working with a Naturopath Pre pregnancy (9mins) - Morning sickness tips (17mins) - Prenatal supplements (19mins) - Focusing beyond the birth (25mins) - Midwife care (30mins) - Post birth care for the mother (40mins) - Setting up your postpartum plan (48mins) - What you’d do differently (51mins) To learn more about the upcoming postpartum workshop Renee will be running on November 19th head to @reneelynch_naturopath or @cocoonbynaomi on instagram for details.
Motivation quite often starts out as extrinsic; you start a new year’s resolution, you want to lose weight or gain muscle, you’re training for a race or you’ve joined a six week challenge But that doesn’t usually last very long. Eventually you run your race, your six week challenge ends, you lose the weight or gain the muscle you set out to So… now what?
The ‘gram can be a highly useful source of information when used by professionals, providing high quality, thoughtful training advice. It’s also full of influencers who post random, fun looking but ineffective workout routines in an attempt to increase their likes. Let’s talk about when and why you shouldn’t be using these workouts and how to spot the good from the bad.
This episode is inspired by our friends at @daleckistrength who asked us for some thoughts on things we we may have got wrong, or how we've messed up on our fitness journey. Something that others could learn from. When we began, we both were under the impression that more was always better, and training everyday.. it was what was necessary. What to expect? - Tips on just starting out - Why more isn't necessarily better - Why training is individually based - How to know when you need to test out a different training/lifestyle routine. xx
Sick of seeing shitty ads for detox diets + cosmetic surgery on the 'gram? Instagram has answered our prayers..
Last week we sat down with Social Scientist Shelley Vitae (@shelley.vitae) We talk about change, how we can be so resistant to it and how we can create change in our actions. We touched on the growth mindset, on visualisation and how your brain has the ability to learn new things throughout your entire life. And finally, we answer the question about screen usage and how it will impact connection heading into the future. Will the need for face to face connection become void? Strap yourself in and get ready to download some epic information about who we are and how we’re wired.
While we are all about that sweaty gym life, we know it’s important to also get a mental sweat on every now and then! We are always on the lookout for new information to challenge our perspective, continue building our own knowledge bank and facilitate personal growth. We love Ted Talks because they cover a broad range of topics, are relatively short, you can listen to them anywhere and their speakers are engaging, entertaining and drop a heap of knowledge bombs.
In this episode we talk about virtual gyms and virtual trainers, fitness technologies that have been created to help with our busy lifestyles. We share where we think this trend is going, do we think it’s going to be a positive or negative influence on us as a whole? We dig into social connection, will we have the same emotional and social benefits from these outlets as we do from face to face physical training? Let us know what you think, we’d love to chat.
Ever felt confused by who to believe when it comes to diets like keto, paleo, veganism, calorie counting and intuitive eating? Especially with influencers, celebrities, nutritionists and doctors all telling you why their particular ideology is the best way to eat, no doubt with studies and statistics on health benefits to back them up. Why do people do this? Because, in the health and wellness industry, it pays to provide comfort among the chaos. It pays to provide solutions.
In this episode we chatted about Mel's first year as a Mum. If you'd like to hear our podcast with her when Emme was 4 months old head to EP 16 for "Motherhood & A Changing Identity". Then listen to where she's at with the Mum thing a nearly a year later. We chat about balance and pressure and all the lessons.
We've put a list of all the terms we use at the gym that to an outsider - will look like another language. Learn them, then throw them around like the pro you are.
In this episode we spoke to CrossFit Games Athlete Maddie Sturt. Maddie first made her appearance at the games when she was just 19 in 2016 and has been every year since. She has so much determination and drive for her age and a real 'no nonsense' approach to training. For Maddie, the desire to go to the Games came early on in her CrossFit career. We quizzed Maddie on how she felt about the changes in the CrossFit Games this year, her journey competing so far and how she survived the marathon row in 2018(not to mention coming 9th with a time of 3hrs 7mins).
Over the last three years this gym has morphed and adapted and grown just as much as the women it has welcomed through its doors. It has truly fostered my unrelenting belief that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. This gym is built on struggle. This is us. And we are damn proud of that.
We talk about PEDs not just in sport but how we think they're used on the 'gram to gain business. What are YOUR thoughts on people taking PEDs? Do you care? Do we just want some honesty and transparency so we don't compare ourselves to people who are using something to get an advantage? Is it any of our business to know if someone's taking illegal drugs? We chat about it all.
So the next time you’re in the middle of a workout and your lungs are burning, your muscles are sore and you’re looking at that weight in front of you thinking ERMAHGAWD I cannot pick that up right now. Don’t wait for me to to yell at you. Pick up the damn weight.
Have you ever walked into a gym and felt like you didn't really belong?
You may know Megan through Crossfit - she’s a 5 x Regionals athlete and 2 x Crossfit Games athlete. But currently, Megan has shifted her focus to Olympic Weightlifting and is working her way through the qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. We spoke to Megan about her Crossfit and Weightlifting journey, how she's overcome injuries and those golden moments of performing far beyond what’s expected. We loved her approach to lifting and life, and resonated so much with her philosophy as a coach. Follow her journey on her instagram @Meganannsignal and see how she goes at worlds in Thailand in the coming weeks!
It’s often the sexier side of gymnastics that gets people in the door. Everyone wants to be able to do a backflip or walk on their hands, they want the cool “party tricks”. However once you hang around (literally) and experience what gymnastics training is really like, you’ll realise there’s so much more to it, and so much more to gain from it.
Quite often when we think of self care, we think of sleeping in an extra hour on the weekend, taking time to dial out listening to a podcast or reading a book, eating foods that bring us joy, getting a facial… the list goes on. But this is self care on a very basic level…
Why do you train? If you asked our girls, or even our coaches, when we first started training, the answer might have been “to lose weight” or “so that I don’t put on weight” or “to fix XYZ body part that I don’t like”. Yes, that answer might have been what you’d get if you asked us at the beginning...
It’s a fun way to exercise, it challenges you both physically and mentally and after a long, difficult day, throwing some hard punches can be just what you need to unwind (just make sure the person holding the pads is prepared before you unleash!). But what is that boxing class actually costing you in the long run?
We chatted to World Champion, Paralympic gold and silver medallist, powerlifter + soon to be Mum of two @kellycartwright about motherhood, resilience, living with a disability, social media and body image
In our recent Blog post & Facebook campaign we used an image of Brooke Ence. We heard some chat behind the scenes so thought we’d get our communities feels on the subject, we received some amazing responses and we're so pumped our community got involved in the chat. This podcast is our discussion about it.
