Fat intake doesnt need to be as high as we thing and theres this other message i see alot thats like you need 60 or 70g as a But its macros When people say that they were building but only Protein intake and why its really good. How more can be better especially when you want to build an impressive physique Before we go into macros & micros and why WHAT we eat is just as important as how much and sometimes more, lets go also into Anorectic means loss of appetite by the way. When he said carbs and insulin can have that effect Lets talk about the loss of appetite with chronic dieting as well and how THAT isn't a good thing Yeah you don't need to be in such a big surplus to build muscle but we will talk about that in a bit Lets quickly revisit this really important thing with the stored energy and how the body has its homeostasis processes going on Storing and burning all the time but the net balance determines the outcome So we spoke about fat already, lets go to carbs to follow on what you just said, its not carbs that's the issue, not even with diabetes – its insulin mismanagement which has other factors that influence it like movement My transformation That's why your body needs to feel safe and also this is a LONG term process macros Protein intake and why its really good. The misconception of fatloss vs changing your physique Muscle doesnt grow in thin air Fat loss is actually easy & simple. Behaviour & humans arent Doing epic things with your body Calorie deficit on paper doesnt mean its calorie deficit in your body Some people need lower than normal caloiries In a deficit but not losing weight Who are you talking too. Whos the client Do they live a normal life? Do they train hard enough? Do they make all their sessions? How are their eating habits? I love how you said that you can put things in place and predict how things will pan out It can be predictable but if you keep going up and down, questioning everything you do, trying to shortcut the process… you make it harder for yourself but also the level of commitment you give Also if you are also honest with yourself for the process Its not that its bad but you need to match your expectations to your level of commitment Hashimotos – 15-20% difference in TDEE How different is your food day to day week to week. Because then its inconsistently inaccurate. Not consistently inaccurate Also restaurant foods Front loading some stuff and it might mean doing more things you don't want in the short run but it lasts This is why a diet isn't a lifestyle – it's the smallest part of it with ONE goal not 10. You go in to it to get an end results and then you get out of it to maintain, you cant go back to where you were but you can have more flexibility But the more variety you have, the more hyperpalatable things you have, the harder it will be Also your taste buds change You want to find your balance in between it Yeah this is the hardest thing for coaches like us because we know our shit and how to get results for them but its hard when we don't have the whole picture in front of us or when you are so worried on the results not the process itself TRAUMA & STRESS The longer way is the fastest way anyway and there can be a lot of internal things to unpack to make this shit permanent What you are willing to do or not do Because of that behavioural aspect. What do you have to say about that, maybe trauma factoring into both training & dieting bottle necks that stop a person progressing See even coaches do this Don't leave food in the house that is trigger food again its okay to do this, there is nothing wrong with you The argment I had on fatloss from training in burning fat Why you could be in a deficit but not losing weight @musclenerds_education @transformxruby

This episode of the Self Made Podcast is a pleasure to welcome back Luke Leaman to the show. One of the many reasons I love talking to Luke is that you are never quite sure what is about to come out of his mouth! Maybe it is something to do with the impulse control struggles people with ADHD face (got me in trouble many times) or maybe it is just because he is a funny dude who has a ton of cool stories. My guess is it is both! either way it makes for one hell of an episode! In our last episode (cheap plug go listen to it as it is one of our most popular shows) we start by talking about no fap before talking about training and this episode steps up the absurdity with the important life lesson why it is important never to miss a chance to go to the bathroom a life lesson so important it made his website! Now we both whole heartedly agree that this is a valuable lesson and for me it is about piece, quiet and creativity but for Luke this sent us down a story including magic mushrooms, cinema trips and violent shitting! (yes you read that right)But we do not just talk crazy toilet stories, in fact I feel this episode may have more take home tips than many other episodes and we talk a topic that is very personal to both myself and Luke.I was recently diagnosed with ADHD a diagnosis that made many moments of my life make sense! I had answers, I wasn't lazy and unproductive my brain just worked a little different. I wanted to learn more and Luke was the first person I reached out to. Diagnosed with ADHD as a kid and dedicating his life to studying nutrition, training, supplementation and human health if there was anyone who could help me it was this man!We talk everything productivity from key lessons we've learned since our diagnosis, systems for our lives and business, supplementation and nutrition for optimal focus and more! Wether you want to learn more about ADHD or you struggle with procrastination and focus and want to be more productive (let's face it that is all of us) then this is a great episode for you!!If you want to know more about Luke you can find him on Instagram at @lukeleaman for his meme account as well as his business page @musclenerds_health. I attended his Muscle Nerds foundations course a couple of years ago in Singapore, and anyone who has been listening to the podcast for a while knows that I say often "A healthy organism is an adaptable organism."Luke's philosophy around training for health first, and utilising basic health markers like blood pressure, waking heart rate, and heart rate variability, has had a significant impact on my coaching and training philosophy over the last few years, and led me down a path of personal and professional growth, as well as tied in a lot of principles and philosophies I had already been using in my career. This is an incredible conversation for those just wanting to understand what we are thinking about as coaches, but also extremely valuable content for coaches within the industry, to learn from someone who has been in the game since long before the internet became the go-to source of information.Strap in, grab a notepad and pen, and enjoy the conversation. If you haven't already listened to the first conversation we recorded, I highly recommend you do so here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1082945/8050195-luke-leaman-of-muscle-nerds.mp3?download=trueYour host - Shaun KoberInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/coach_kobes/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/performancefunctionaltrainingYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnOpTWXi1xKdamDBgzlfaPwYour guest - Luke LeamanInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/lukeleaman/Muscle NerdsWebsite: https://musclenerds.net/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/musclenerds_health/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/musclenerdsYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJr3Uarkc2qlYz-JrDGFAzQPodcast: https://www.stitcher.com/show/muscle-nerdsRate and Review: https://lovethepodcast.com/livetrainperform

We can be considered experts in this area because, also as coaches, we have experimented with extreme dieting, over training and over supplementation. We can save our clients from the ramifications of these fitness and nutrition missteps by sharing our stories with humility and transparency. In this episode, Ali, Ed, and Luke dive into an open and honest conversation about when true health and wellness goals becomes derailed by bad advice and ego. We hope that this episode shows a side of us that proves that all coaches are humans who make mistakes and that our failed attempts at wellness can keep you on the right path to yours.

This is the audio recorded version of the Academy Webinar series. We host the Academy Webinar series online over Zoom every Wednesday for our Fitness & Wellness Professionals.  When general population clients come to you with goals in mind, they are usually in no position to dive headfirst into specific training for their immediate goal. More often than not, they have lifestyle and stress factors that require addressing, and tidying up before they can respond well to more specialised training. Training is a stressor on the body, and we all know that you can only train as hard as you can recover from. Cue GPP. GPP (General Physical Preparedness) is a term thrown around mainly in athletic development. The concept being that you lay a broad, solid foundation before fine tuning into specifics. We like to allocate GPP phases to our Gen-Pop clients. A broad, solid foundation for them looks like: >A good aerobic base >Healthy Blood Pressure range >Healthy resting heart rate >Healthy HRV >Structurally balanced >Good exercise execution >Good stress management Once we have built a really strong base, we can safely drop the hammer and work towards their specific goals – training a lot harder and recovering a lot more effectively than if a solid foundation had not been built. To write a GPP phase, and progress them into an SPP Phase (Specific Physical Preparedness), it is important to know and understand the role of assessment. Assessing where a client is currently, and how to progress them safely and effectively from zero to hero for long lasting results. We will cover how to build a solid foundation in which you can then capitalise on for more specific goals and achievements.
