The next episode in our series was recorded live as one of Scotland's most hard-working producers unleashed his unique box of sounds on the Heinz Gaul in Cologne. Boom Merchant continues to push the envelope with a complex, forward-thinking sound. Keep your ears peeled for his next weapon 'Two Tribes' on Tribal Pulse, complete with Silicone Soul remix, and gigs across Europe.
The latest episode in our series comes from an artist whose work we've admired for a long time; Canadian live electronics expert Dark Arps! Inspired by pivotal acts like Hybrid, Underworld and The Prodigy, his music is bursting with colour and warmth with a heavy emphasis on experimentation. Check out his contributions to our Five Years of Dancefloor Weaponry compilation to see what he's capable of. Tune in, chill out and enjoy the flow of Dark Arps.
Lonya is a unique creative force whose list of accomplishments as a recording artist are matched only by his ability to weave magic behind the decks. An in demand selector in every corner of the globe, his finger is never off the pulse as a DJ, a producer and a curator, and this is why we love him.
Providing the next hour of sonic weaponry in our series are a duo who we're delighted to introduce to our exclusive club of sonic snipers. Cedren & Manu-L are residents of the The Playground club in Malta, and their debut studio creations have been snapped up by Dear Deer, Asymmetric and Clinique. Their tracks contain a spectrum of lush synths and deep, spacey sounds, and the future is bright! Get ready for big things, and enjoy the journey...
We're starting the year and shaking off the hangover from our NYE party with another episode full of deep, electronic sounds. This time it's an hour of dark energy from label boss Boom Merchant, recorded live in Amsterdam close to the end of what was a huge year with gigs across the globe and some big releases that pushed his sound into new creative territories. Many of his recent productions will see light in 2018, with releases coming on Tribal Pulse vinyl, Frequenza, Asymmetric, ProBTech and a very special vinyl-only release with more info to follow. Stay tuned for big things! Tune in, turn it up, enjoy.
Ahead of his performance in Glasgow this Saturday night, we've invited Maltese acid maestro Acidulant to provide the next hour of sonic exploration in our series. Here he's provided us with an hour of live exploration focused on the more retro/house side of his sound, recorded live last weekend at I Love Acid in London, where he performed alongside Luke Vibert, Jon Dasilva & Posthuman. Tune in and lose yourself in an acid trip your ears will thank you for, and join us for a slightly more techno-fueled evening this Saturday at Stereo in Glasgow!
Next up on the Tribal Pulse podcast it's the first repeat offender in our series, and with good reason. Johnny's sounds never fail to innovate and fascinate, and the bounty of recently released and unreleased original material he's included here are just a massage for the ears. He provides a consistently fresh approach to electronic music, with huge recent releases on Stick Recordings, Frequenza, Funk N' Deep and of course Tribal Pulse. Catch him this Saturday night (22/07/17) as we descend to the Stereo basement in Glasgow. We hope you enjoy the music...
Next up to send us to space with an hour of solid grooves is globally acclaimed producer, DJ, live act and Asymmetric Recordings/Dip head honcho, Lonya! His tracks have received remix treatment from a long list including Hernan Cattaneo, Solee, Oliver Deutschmann and Jay Tripwire. Born in Moscow, he received a musical education from a young age and benefitted from long-term friendships and collaborations with Chaim and Guy Mantzur. Now a resident of Tel Aviv, he criss-crosses the globe spinning his distinctive hypnotic sounds to crowds in a large and growing list of countries. For our next expedition into the underground we bring you an artist who's sounds are generating a lot of interest from DJs and lovers of electronic music worldwide: Lee Williams. One of the most sought after DJs on the UK's South Coast, he's had the opportunity to take his techy but progresssive sounds across Europe with performances in Germany, France and Switzerland as well as performances at Ministry of Sound, Pacha, Pulse Festival and Egg. Having played alongside Sasha, Darren Emerson, Layo & Bushwacka amongst many others, his releases have attracted the attention of heavyweights like Dave Seaman and Dave Angel, and remix treatment from Digweed's production partner Nick Muir. Here he showcases his deep and moving rhythms, and you can catch him alongside Boom Merchant at our next event at Stereo in Glasgow on 6th August: https://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?849480 https://www.facebook.com/events/592453634254284/
Our final episode of the year is by an artist whose unique and diverse sounds in the studio and behind the decks have earned him support from across the globe: label boss and all round rhythm freak, Boom Merchant! His pivotal releases have helped define the label's identity, and DMC Mag described his latest release with us as 'a really physical cut that will make people move their limbs without a care in the world.' Releases on renowned labels like Motech, Process and Teleskopik have seen him continuously refine his signature sound. Data Transmission have described his work as 'rich and uncompromising analogue persuasions', 'full of discerning goodness from the first beat to the last.' We feel this mix rounds up our year's activities nicely. You can catch Boom Merchant showcasing the full array of his sounds with an all night set to the lights and colours of WeAreTallOrder at our first event of 2016 on 23rd January at Stereo in Glasgow. Enjoy! www.facebook.com/boommerchant www.soundcloud.com/boom-merchant www.facebook.com/tribalpulselabel www.soundcloud.com/tribal-pulse
Our next episode is by an artist whose work is of huge significance to the history and progression of the Detroit techno sound; DJ 3000. Given the name '3000' by Mad Mike Banks and a member of the Undergeround Resistance/Submerge crew, he formed the now seminal Motech imprint in 2001. The label's back catalogue reads like a who's who of motor city techno, and his sounds merge the electronic rhythms reminiscent of his city with ethnic flavours from his parents' home country of Albania and beyond. At Tribal Pulse we absolutely love this coming together of influences, and we hope you enjoy the mix. Don't forget you can catch 2 more big supporters of Detroit sounds, Jean Pierre Enfant and Boom Merchant, at our next label night at Saint Judes in Glasgow on 7th February, and remember our first adventure on wax of 2015 isn't far away. For the sixth installment in our podcast series we've handed over the reins to an artist who featured on our debut release as well as our most recent, and whose work over the last decade has produced a comprehensive arsenal of quality music: Pole Folder. His recent remix of Khen & Sonic Union's 'Driven by Demand' is a building groover with huge emotional content, gaining the support of Sasha, Dubfire, Nick Warren and Stacey Pullen amongst others. Change underground called it 'emotionally devastating stuff', and Decoded Mag referred to it as 'quite dreamlike, yet terribly satisfying.' Who better then to lead proceedings at the final Tribal Pulse event of the year. You can catch him alongside Boom Merchant and VJ PlanetArm at Saint Judes on Saturday 6th December for what's set to be one to remember. We hope you enjoy the music. https://www.facebook.com/polefolder.official https://soundcloud.com/pole-folder https://www.facebook.com/TribalPulseLabel https://www.facebook.com/TribalPulseLabel https://soundcloud.com/tribal-pulse
Number five in our podcast series comes from a key member of Tribal Pulse and a crafter of some truly fantastic recordings; Acidulant. His sounds are deep and heavy, laden with 303 and a futuristic outlook. The next few months will bring releases on Balkan Connection, Plus and Tribal Pulse amongst others, and with remixes by a selection of the world's best such as Orlando Voorn, Altern8's Mark Archer and Outlander of R&S fame, the results sound absolutely fantastic. Here he provides us with an hour-long DJ set, but you can hear him perform his new audio/visual liveset at Tribal Pulse events in Edinburgh (The Annexe, 10th Oct), Glasgow (SWG3, 11th October) and Amsterdam (Club Lite, 18th October). Until then, we hope you enjoy the podcast!
For the next in our podcast series we're proud to present an artist who's been on the Tribal Pulse radar for some time now. He crafts tough, bass-driven rhythms with a hedonistic edge, and with such a fresh and unique sound, it's easy to see why labels like Dubfire's Sci+Tec, Coyu's Suara and Marco Bailey's MB Elektronics have snapped up his recordings. This year you can expect more music from Johnny on a host of respected labels including MB Elektronics, Break New Soil and Sci+Tec. You can catch him play live alongside Kyle Hall and Boom Merchant at our next event on 7th June in Glasgow, and if this chaotic musical journey is anything to go by, it'll be an evening to remember. https://facebook.com/pages/JOHNNY-KAOS https://soundcloud.com/johnnykaosdj-1 https://facebook.com/TribalPulseLabel https://soundcloud.com/tribal-pulse
We listened to a lot of fantastic music during last year's trip to ADE, and we're pleased to say that a lot of it came from our own artists! We also came across a few DJs who weren't quite so familiar, but who made us take a step back and say 'wow!'. First on this list is Jean Pierre Enfant. He's a resident at Trouw, founder of the Les Enfants Terribles parties in Amsterdam, and a proud supporter of vinyl. It's the sheer momentum that he manages to generate in his sets that caught our eye, merging warm house sounds alongside dark, paranoid techno to create a very special musical atmosphere. Here he provides us with a set recorded at one of his own LET events at Trouw. You can catch him at our next Glasgow event at Saint Judes on Saturday 8th March. Until then, enjoy the music!
