In January, I asked people if they wanted to share any children's folklore as part of my February theme. As a branch of study, this largely refers to folklore created, shared, and maintained by children. Adults are not involved in its generation. So, contributors could share folklore they remembered from their childhood. Or they could share what they'd heard from children in their lives now. Most responses came from those sharing memories of childhood folklore, and broadly fell into three categories. We've already covered urban legends and children's beliefs.  This time, we're going to focus on games. So what did my listeners play as children, both in the schoolyard and at home? Your Body Is Not a Playground for Desire | 1 Corinthians 6:12-14

Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Read more about Project23 and partner with us as we teach every verse of the Bible on video. Our text today is 1 Corinthians 6:12-14. We live in a world that treats the body like a playground—something to indulge, use, bend, and satisfy at any cost. Corinth wasn't any different. They had a saying they loved to quote: "All things are lawful for me." Translation: "I can do whatever I want with my body." But Paul takes that slogan and makes a theological adjustment, as any good Bible teacher would. "All things are lawful for me," but not all things are helpful. "All things are lawful for me," but I will not be dominated by anything. "Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food"—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. — 1 Corinthians 6:12–14 The Corinthian church had built an entire theology to justify its sexual habits. And honestly? Churches and believers still do this today—reshaping doctrine, bending Scripture, and redefining holiness to accommodate whatever desires they refuse to surrender. For example: Some justify porn and masturbation: "It's natural." "No one gets hurt." Some justify same-sex attraction acted upon: "This is who I am." "God wouldn't deny love." Some justify multiple sexual partners: "It's just physical." "Everyone does it." Others justify emotional affairs, hookups, cohabitation, sexting, or "sleeping together because we love each other." Paul looks at all of this and declares, "Your logic is broken because your theology is broken." The Corinthians even had a clever argument for their desires: "Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food…" In other words: "If my body craves it, then my body must be made for it." That logic is wild. It's like saying: "My anger flares easily, so God gave me the spiritual gift of rage." "I crave donuts at midnight, so clearly this is holy hunger." "I like Taylor Swift songs, so I must be a liberal." It sounds ridiculous because it is ridiculous. Desire never defines design. Craving never clarifies calling. Your body isn't disposable. It isn't personal property that you can use however you want. Your body has a calling. It belongs to the Lord. And the Lord is for your body. Created for holiness. Redeemed by Christ. Destined for resurrection. So don't surrender your body to impulse. Steward it and its worth. Your body isn't a playground for desire—it's a temple for the Lord. And when you understand the calling on your body, you stop using it for things that destroy it. DO THIS: Identify one desire that tries to dominate your body—lust, impulse, laziness, or escape—and surrender it to Christ today. ASK THIS: What desire most often tries to tell me my body belongs to me? How does remembering my body's calling reshape my choices today? Which impulse have I allowed to master me that Christ is calling me to resist? PRAY THIS: Father, thank You for claiming my body as Yours. Help me honor You with what I desire, what I pursue, and what I allow to shape my habits. Strengthen me to resist impulses that don't reflect who I am in Christ. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Lord, I Need You"

Apple Pie Playground with Valerie Title: Emotions in Motion, The Key to Human Evolution? Is it possible that managing emotion is the key that opens the door to human evolution mind, body, and spirit? Are we managing emotion or is it managing us? Does it really matter? Let's talk. Emotions in Motion: The Gateway to Human Evolution and Spiritual Transcendence Emotions in Motion The Key to Human Evolution & Quantum Spirituality 62 Min Listen #QuantumSpirituality #LimbicSystem #EmotionalIntelligence #SelfCare Core Philosophy "Emotion is energy in motion (emotere). It occurs before thought, informing the body through sensory cues before the brain even interprets the environment." Survival Reptilian Brain Fight, flight, or freeze. Triggered by unmanaged emotional charges in the amygdala. Evolution Prefrontal Cortex Transcendence and regulation. Activated through meditation and mindful awareness. The Cellular Impact Unreleased emotions deposit energy into cells, forming karma and "subtle bodies." Managing this energy is the only way to unlock psychic abilities (the "clairs") and higher consciousness. High EI Checklist ✔Self-Awareness & Regulation ✔Empathy & Social Skills ✔Setting Healthy Boundaries ✔Openness to Feedback ✔Conflict Resolution The 5-Circle Activity 1. Center: Waking emotion. 2. Social: First conversation. 3. Digital: Phone/TV interaction. 4. Present: Emotion right now. 5. Intent: Chosen end-of-day emotion. Source: Apple Pie Playground - Valerie Target: Spiritual Seekers & Self-Care Practitioners In this session of Apple Pie Playground, host Valerie explores the profound duality of human emotions, characterizing them as both a sensory "energy in motion" and a potential barrier to spiritual evolution. The discussion bridges the gap between quantum spirituality and neurobiology, offering a roadmap for managing emotional states to unlock higher consciousness and collective transformation. The Dual Nature of Emotions: Physicality vs. Spirituality Emotions are often described as the "astral field" of our physical experience or energy bodies that persist beyond the spirit's departure. While many spiritual traditions equate the highest state of being with an emotion like love, Valerie suggests that emotions are actually a characteristic of the physical realm of duality and do not necessarily translate to our "source identity". Because emotions like love can encompass a vast spectrum—from divine light to the "dark side" of obsession and possessiveness—relying on them as a sole definition of the divine can be problematic. The Biological Mechanism of Feeling Scientifically, emotions are electrochemical processes triggered by sensory experiences, occurring as electrical impulses in the body rather than mere brain waves. Crucially, emotion occurs before thought; the body picks up cues and shifts energy before the rational brain can define the event. If these energies are not released, they deposit into the cells, creating what some traditions call the "subtle body" or sushruma sarira, which can influence karma and physical health. The Emotional Brain: Survival vs. Transcendence Reptilian Brain (Amygdala) Triggers Fight, Flight, or Freeze. Operates on survival mode and subconscious triggers, often bypassing rational thought. Limbic & Prefrontal System The Pineal & Pituitary glands enable higher awareness. Regulation occurs in the Prefrontal Cortex through reason. Extreme emotions (even joy) can "hypoactivate" the brain, blocking psychic and transcendent functions 16]. The Path to Emotional Competency Unmanaged emotions lead to a "feedback loop" of stress, hormonal imbalances, and even addictions as the brain craves certain chemical stimulations. To evolve, humans must move emotion from the subconscious limbic system to the prefrontal cortex for regulation. This is achieved through intentional practices such as meditation, deep breathing, and prayer, which scientifically recalibrate the brain and activate the "transcendent" functions of the parietal lobe. Evolutionary Potential and Shared Reality Valerie posits that "emotional competency" is the fastest route to human evolution. By stabilizing our emotional bodies, we may unlock latent abilities such as clairvoyance and psychic connection. Furthermore, because emotions are vibrations that affect the quantum field, a collective shift in emotional frequency—preferring joy and compassion over hate and greed—has the power to literally reshape our shared physical reality. Indicators of High Emotional Intelligence (EQ) ✅ Self-Regulation: Pausing before reacting to avoid impulsive decisions. ✅ Empathy: Reading body language and understanding diverse perspectives. ✅ Openness: Viewing constructive criticism as a tool for growth. ✅ Boundaries: The ability to say "no" to maintain healthy limits. ✅ Conflict Resolution: Focusing on diplomacy rather than "winning." Source: Apple Pie Playground Practical Strategies for Daily Management To prevent emotions from settling at a cellular level, individuals should practice "moving" them through the body. Techniques include reframing negative thoughts into neutral or positive ones, practicing gratitude to shake off negativity, and using grounding exercises (focusing on the five senses) to remain present during a "trigger" event. Creating space between a stimulus and a response is vital for bypassing the subconscious "fight-or-flight" mechanism. Key Data & Observations The 5-Minute Rule: Just five minutes of quiet recalibration can significantly reactivate the brain's regulatory centers. Heart Coherence: Elevated emotions like gratitude influence the heart's electromagnetic field, aligning it with higher consciousness. Subconscious Triggers: A "trigger" is a subconscious reaction that completely bypasses the rational thinking brain. To-Do / Next Steps Label your feelings throughout the day to increase conscious awareness of emotional shifts. Practice "The Pause" by breathing and waiting before responding to a triggering event. Perform a daily grounding exercise by identifying what you can see, touch, and hear in the present moment. Conduct the "Five Circles" reflection: Draw five concentric circles representing your emotions from waking up to bedtime to track your emotional evolution. Choose your final emotion of the night intentionally, as it often dictates the emotion you wake up with the next day. Conclusion Emotions are the "Achilles' heel" of humanity, often targeted by social controls and media to keep us in survival mode. However, by treating emotions as informative tools rather than our absolute identity, we can manage their energetic force. This mastery not only heals the individual but serves as the catalyst for a more beautiful, co-created global reality.

Brayden who is from Washington State writes "I recently moved to a new property with my girlfriend to help care for my grandfather as he gets older, and I've started noticing some strange activity around the property. I'm mainly looking for insight into what this could be. It began with an odd sixth sense feeling like I was being watched. I work a swing shift, so I get home late, and I'd often feel uneasy when pulling into the driveway. At first, I brushed it off as nerves from being in a new place. Then the noises started. The first incident happened while I was at work. My girlfriend called me, shaken, saying that something was walking outside the house and breathing heavily. I told her it was probably a buck looking for a doe since it was mating season, which seemed reasonable at the time. Not long after, one weekend night, we were both woken up by chattering sounds coming from two different directions. We just lay there frozen in bed, listening. Another incident involved tapping on the side of the house, which I was able to record."   Curtis writes "My twin brother and I had an intense encounter with a group of three Sasquatches back in the summer of 1983." After speaking with the eyewitness, he explained that in 1983, he and five other kids were playing in the woods, pretending to be in a war game. He recalled that three large creatures emerged from behind the school, stepping out from the tree line. The creatures walked right past him, his twin brother, and their friends. At first, he mistook the creatures for his brother and friends, but upon a closer look, It wasn't his brother. He said they weren't as big as he had initially imagined they were nothing like the giant figures typically described or even like Patty."

This episode is the first Noriko's Philosophy Playground of 2026 and explores The Tower of Babel painted by Pieter Bruegel the Elder.Noriko reflects on seeing the large version of The Tower of Babel in Vienna at the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Inspired by the painting, she discusses human ambition, limits, and the role of language. The biblical story tells of people who once shared a single language and tried to build a tower reaching the heavens. Their excessive ambition led to confusion of language, loss of cooperation, and the collapse of the project.Bruegel's painting shows countless workers focused only on their own tasks, without seeing the whole structure. Parts of the tower are already collapsing, symbolising miscommunication and lack of coordination.Noriko connects this to modern life and language learning, asking three philosophical questions:How important is it to see the big picture? How much ambition is healthy for humans? What does it really mean for language to “connect” people? She concludes that true communication is not just grammar or vocabulary, but the attitude of trying to understand others. Language learning, she suggests, is ultimately about understanding people and the world through words.

Have playgrounds become too safe for kids to actually grow? In this episode of Facing the Dark, Dr. Kathy Koch and Wayne Stender take a thoughtful look at the increasing restrictions on playgrounds and recess, and what those rules may be costing our children. From banning running and roughhousing to removing swings altogether, today's playgrounds often prioritize control over exploration. This conversation explores why unstructured play matters for confidence, problem solving, self regulation, and social development. Drawing on child development and Scripture, Dr. Kathy challenges parents and educators to reconsider whether constant supervision and rigid rules actually help kids, or quietly undermine courage and judgment. Grounded in Jesus' invitation to "let the little children come," this episode invites adults to trade whistle-blowing for watchful presence and to see recess not as chaos to manage, but as formation in motion.
