In this episode of the Kingdom Misfits Podcast, hosts David and Michael explain that spiritual and social isolation leaves believers vulnerable to the enemy, much like predators targeting an animal separated from its herd. They note that Christians often drift away from their church family due to internal struggles like shame, past "church hurt," burnout from over-serving, or a reliance on artificial digital connections. To break this dangerous cycle, the hosts encourage listeners to "abide in the vine" by staying rooted in God's word and to intentionally re-engage with their community through practical steps like making small connections and serving others.Connect with us:Facebook @KingdomMisfitsemail us at kingdommisfitsco@gmail.comMusic in the episode is brought to you by Epidemic Sound and UppBeat.io

Cecilia D'Anstasio on Roblox efforts to protect children from pedophiles. Roblox is one of those games that is more popular than you can imagine, but unless you are of a certain age group and live in that world, you'll rarely hear about it unless it makes the news for some terrible reason. More recently, for example, we wrote about the Tumbler Ridge shooter who created a mass shooting simulator in Roblox. But what is Roblox, how big is it exactly, and why does it seem like it's so frequently embroiled in controversy? This week we're joined by Cecilia D'anstasio in an attempt to answer all of these questions. This week we're joined by Cecilia D'Anstasio. Cecilia reports about video games at Bloomberg, and has written many important articles about the business and controversies of one of the biggest games in the world, Roblox. A few weeks ago we had Patrick Klepek on to discuss Roblox from a parent's perspective, but today we're going to hear about it from the perspective of a great investigative reporter and for my money the most knowledgeable journalists about Roblox. 404 Media is a journalist-founded company and needs your support. I know it's been a while but we're back! Jake and I welcome Jomar Tagatac, a gifted actor who has graced the stages of ACT, Playground, Berkeley Rep and the New Conservatory Theatre Center. Jake and I catch up on what's happened this past month, while Jomar shares with us his upbringing, his journey in theatre and where he sees himself in the future. Jomar can be reached directly via Instagram: @jawmer In 2020, I was a part of the Brecht Project – a group of writers, actors and directors assembled by Susan E. Evans (Episode 23) and Scott Munson (Episodes 13, 53 and 284) – where we would reinterpret the one act plays of Bretold Brecht and adapt them in the age of Trump. You'd think we would be beyond that age after 2021 – well 2024 happened and Trump is back. And so we're back. In April 2026, the Brecht Project will present 10 new plays that will be performed online (including my piece, Judicial Process), and you can be a part of our production. The GoFundMe page (https://www.gofundme.com/f/fear-and-misery-of-the-fourth-reich) will greatly help us pay for actors and writers – and you'll help shed even more light to our most darkest time in American history. Kehinde Koyejo (Episodes 214 and 262) has been a friend of mine since 2005, when I stage managed her for the Ray of Light musical, Bat Boy. She's an amazing actress, model and creative artist. Kalm Korner is an online boutique that specializes in aromatherapy gifts – love rubs, moisturizers, sprays, tea blends and candles. In January, I asked people if they wanted to share any children's folklore as part of my February theme. As a branch of study, this largely refers to folklore created, shared, and maintained by children. Adults are not involved in its generation. So, contributors could share folklore they remembered from their childhood. Or they could share what they'd heard from children in their lives now. Most responses came from those sharing memories of childhood folklore, and broadly fell into three categories. We've already covered urban legends and children's beliefs. This time, we're going to focus on games. So what did my listeners play as children, both in the schoolyard and at home? Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Read more about Project23 and partner with us as we teach every verse of the Bible on video. Our text today is 1 Corinthians 6:12-14. We live in a world that treats the body like a playground—something to indulge, use, bend, and satisfy at any cost. Corinth wasn't any different. They had a saying they loved to quote: "All things are lawful for me." Translation: "I can do whatever I want with my body." But Paul takes that slogan and makes a theological adjustment, as any good Bible teacher would. "All things are lawful for me," but not all things are helpful. "All things are lawful for me," but I will not be dominated by anything. "Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food"—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. — 1 Corinthians 6:12–14 The Corinthian church had built an entire theology to justify its sexual habits. And honestly? Churches and believers still do this today—reshaping doctrine, bending Scripture, and redefining holiness to accommodate whatever desires they refuse to surrender. For example: Some justify porn and masturbation: "It's natural." "No one gets hurt." Some justify same-sex attraction acted upon: "This is who I am." "God wouldn't deny love." Some justify multiple sexual partners: "It's just physical." "Everyone does it." Others justify emotional affairs, hookups, cohabitation, sexting, or "sleeping together because we love each other." Paul looks at all of this and declares, "Your logic is broken because your theology is broken." The Corinthians even had a clever argument for their desires: "Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food…" In other words: "If my body craves it, then my body must be made for it." That logic is wild. It's like saying: "My anger flares easily, so God gave me the spiritual gift of rage." "I crave donuts at midnight, so clearly this is holy hunger." "I like Taylor Swift songs, so I must be a liberal." It sounds ridiculous because it is ridiculous. Desire never defines design. Craving never clarifies calling. Your body isn't disposable. It isn't personal property that you can use however you want. Your body has a calling. It belongs to the Lord. And the Lord is for your body. Created for holiness. Redeemed by Christ. Destined for resurrection. So don't surrender your body to impulse. Steward it and its worth. Your body isn't a playground for desire—it's a temple for the Lord. And when you understand the calling on your body, you stop using it for things that destroy it. DO THIS: Identify one desire that tries to dominate your body—lust, impulse, laziness, or escape—and surrender it to Christ today. ASK THIS: What desire most often tries to tell me my body belongs to me? How does remembering my body's calling reshape my choices today? Which impulse have I allowed to master me that Christ is calling me to resist? PRAY THIS: Father, thank You for claiming my body as Yours. Help me honor You with what I desire, what I pursue, and what I allow to shape my habits. Strengthen me to resist impulses that don't reflect who I am in Christ. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Lord, I Need You"

This is an encore presentation of a program originally aired in November of 2024. In this program, two novelists who've created visions of a future after significant climate change...talk about whether their fiction can help shape reality. Across his life, Richard Powers has been driven by an insatiable curiosity for humans and the world around us. This has led him from budding scientist to award-winning author, from Bangkok to the Netherlands, and has helped him win a Pulitzer Prize and a Macarthur Genius Grant. Powers is best known for his novels, including The Gold Bug Variations, named a Time Book of the Year, The Echo Maker, which received a National Book Award, and The Overstory, which received a Pulitzer Prize. Powers' fourteenth novel, Playground delves into the lives of artists, scientists, and teachers who choose to start seastedding - living on floating cities. On October 30, 2024, Richard Powers came to the Sydney Goldstein Theater in San Francisco for an onstage conversation with fellow novelist Kim Stanley Robinson, author of The Ministry for the Future.

Galva Mayor Rich Volkert joined Wake Up Tri-Counties to discuss plans to replace playground equipment at Wiley Park, using funds from solar revenue, with city staff and volunteers slated to assist with installation this spring. The city council recently sold a surplus box truck for $1,550 and transferred ownership of a Northwest First Avenue property to a nearby resident. A new 20-year lease with Ameren will bring in $125,000 over its term for gas line use. Officials continue to evaluate options for a replacement street sweeper and remind residents about upcoming cemetery cleanup dates and the risks of tax-related scams. Grants were also discussed for maintaining and replanting the city's trees. Cemetery cleanup begins on March 29th. Items need to be removed from the cemetery before March 29th, and then things can be put back on after April 3rd.

Brayden who is from Washington State writes "I recently moved to a new property with my girlfriend to help care for my grandfather as he gets older, and I've started noticing some strange activity around the property. I'm mainly looking for insight into what this could be. It began with an odd sixth sense feeling like I was being watched. I work a swing shift, so I get home late, and I'd often feel uneasy when pulling into the driveway. At first, I brushed it off as nerves from being in a new place. Then the noises started. The first incident happened while I was at work. My girlfriend called me, shaken, saying that something was walking outside the house and breathing heavily. I told her it was probably a buck looking for a doe since it was mating season, which seemed reasonable at the time. Not long after, one weekend night, we were both woken up by chattering sounds coming from two different directions. We just lay there frozen in bed, listening. Another incident involved tapping on the side of the house, which I was able to record." Curtis writes "My twin brother and I had an intense encounter with a group of three Sasquatches back in the summer of 1983." After speaking with the eyewitness, he explained that in 1983, he and five other kids were playing in the woods, pretending to be in a war game. He recalled that three large creatures emerged from behind the school, stepping out from the tree line. The creatures walked right past him, his twin brother, and their friends. At first, he mistook the creatures for his brother and friends, but upon a closer look, It wasn't his brother. He said they weren't as big as he had initially imagined they were nothing like the giant figures typically described or even like Patty."

This episode is the first Noriko's Philosophy Playground of 2026 and explores The Tower of Babel painted by Pieter Bruegel the Elder.Noriko reflects on seeing the large version of The Tower of Babel in Vienna at the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Inspired by the painting, she discusses human ambition, limits, and the role of language. The biblical story tells of people who once shared a single language and tried to build a tower reaching the heavens. Their excessive ambition led to confusion of language, loss of cooperation, and the collapse of the project.Bruegel's painting shows countless workers focused only on their own tasks, without seeing the whole structure. Parts of the tower are already collapsing, symbolising miscommunication and lack of coordination.Noriko connects this to modern life and language learning, asking three philosophical questions:How important is it to see the big picture? How much ambition is healthy for humans? What does it really mean for language to “connect” people? She concludes that true communication is not just grammar or vocabulary, but the attitude of trying to understand others. Language learning, she suggests, is ultimately about understanding people and the world through words.
