Radio Nova revisite ses propres classiques : les raretés de tout bord qui rythment notre antenne, de la soul-funk au hip-hop en passant par les musiques afro-latines et la pop. Aujourd’hui : « Forever Mona » de Chez Damier & Stacey Pullen.C’est ce qu’on appelle un anthem, un hymne de dancefloor. On le doit à deux producteurs qui ont accompagné l’histoire de la house et de la techno. D’un côté, Chez Damier, producteur et DJ originaire de Chicago qui, à seize ans, se choisit ce pseudo en hommage aux maisons de couture française.Chez Damier donc commence sa carrière très jeune. De Chicago, il part à Detroit. Là, il monte l’un des clubs mythiques de la ville – le Music Institute – et écrit pour d’autres producteurs, notamment Kevin Saunderson, pour lequel il compose plusieurs titres de Big Fun. Il travaille également pour le label de Kevin, KMS, l’un des plus importants de Motor City, fondé avant les années 90. Et puis, il rencontre Ron Trent. Coup de foudre : les deux musiciens montent Prescription Records, label qui, entre 1993 et 1995, sortent des titres considérés aujourd’hui parmi les meilleures productions house de la période. Parmi ces perles, « Forever Monna », sorti en 1995 et sur lequel on retrouve l’autre producteur, Stacey Pullen, qui lui, est originaire de Detroit. Comme Jeff Mills ou Robert Hood, il fait partie de la seconde vague de producteurs de techno. Pullen s’est notamment fait connaître en mixant aux côtés de Derrick May.
