Meet your customer where they want to shop. On the latest episode of the Omnichannel Marketer, I had the pleasure of talking with Sarah McNamara, Executive Vice President & General Manager at Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skin Care and Naturally Serious Skin.Sarah is a beauty industry veteran, having worked at Unilever, L'Oreal, and grew her own beauty brand, Miracle Skin Transformer to $35M in revenue before selling it.Now she oversees Peter Thomas Roth.Peter Thomas Roth started in a doctor's office, but is now a retail powerhouse. It was one of the first brands to launch with Sephora when it came to the US market, and also is present in Sephora locations around the world. Other key channels for Peter Thomas Roth are Ulta Beauty, Amazon, and QVC. Sarah's philosophy is that you need to be where the customer is. That is highly dependent on demographics. PTR is a legacy brand that historically skews to an older demographic. So retail and QVC are big channels for them. Each channel has a unique offering for the demographic that frequents it. And the spread in Ulta is very different from Sephora. She loves department stores herself, but sees it as a shrinking business. Beauty is constantly evolving and experiencing unprecedented digital change. As Sarah says, “You snooze, you lose.” To that end, PTR also has a DTC presence and is active on social media to cater to some Gen X, Z, and even Alpha customers. Her team is actively tinkering with Tiktok shops. She was also relatively early to Amazon, compared to Clinique, another legacy brand that only launched on Amazon a few weeks ago.Sarah views the DTC site as a window into the brand and is in midst of an exciting website revamp going live in August. The PTR website serves loyalists, but she also realizes that every channel has its loyalists. “Some people really just want to buy on Amazon. Others only at Sephora.”At the end of the day, Sarah shares that good marketing is about “understanding where your customers are and making it easy for them to buy in those channels.”Thanks Sarah for sharing your experience and insights.
What if "healthy" food labels aren't actually telling you the truth? In this episode, I sit down with Samantha Citro Alexander, Co-Founder and CEO of FoodHealth Company and the creator of the FoodHealth Score — a data-driven nutrition scoring system designed to cut through food marketing and make health measurable, transparent, and actionable. Sam's journey is fascinating. After spending a decade in the beauty industry with brands like Clinique and Smashbox, helping legacy companies adapt to the clean beauty movement, she saw the same misleading patterns showing up in food. Buzzwords. Wellness spin. Labels that sound healthy — but don't actually support health. That frustration led her to build the FoodHealth Score, a 1–100 rating system that evaluates the overall health of foods using real nutrition science, not trends or hype. Today, the FoodHealth Score is being used by major retailers and data providers to help consumers, brands, and institutions understand what's truly in their grocery carts, and how those choices impact long-term health. In this conversation, we unpack why food labels so often miss the mark, how marketing manipulates perception, and how small, informed swaps can dramatically improve diet quality without perfection or restriction. We also explore what millions of grocery carts reveal about how people actually eat, and why clarity, not shame, is the key to change. This episode is about learning how to see food clearly again, so you can stop guessing, stop outsourcing your choices, and start making decisions that actually support your health. Because when you know better, you can finally do better. ✴️ Connect with Sam on Facebook, Instagram, Substack, TikTok or X

Welcome to Overtime with the Sports Docs. On each of these mini episodes, Catherine and I chat about a new article or new surgical technique in the field of sports medicine. We'll give you our quick take on the most recent data and how this data will impact our practice. Today, we're breaking down a new study looking at the Hip–Return to Sport after Injury score, or Hip-RSI, and whether it can help us evaluate psychological readiness to return to sport after surgical repair of a proximal hamstring avulsion. This study is hot off the press and was published in the November 2025 issue of OJSM, so this month! It was performed by Hardy and colleagues at Clinique du in Paris and is titled “The Hip-RSI Score for Evaluating Psychological Readiness to Return to Sport After Surgical Repair of a Proximal Hamstring Avulsion.” Our listeners may know this score was originally developed for femoroacetabular impingement. But the authors of this recent OJSM paper are asking: Does it work for a totally different injury—one that often requires long rehab and has a real psychological component? So, a bit of background. The Hip-RSI was created because we know psychological readiness is a huge factor in return to sport after hip arthroscopy. Fear, confidence, trust in the hip—these really drive return-to-play outcomes. And with proximal hamstring avulsions, we see the same psychology showing up: fear of re-rupture, hesitancy with sprinting or explosive movements, and a long course to get back to high-level sport. The purpose of this study was to evaluate two big questions:1. Is the Hip-RSI valid and reliable in this population?2. Can it actually predict return to preinjury sport at nine months?Listen to this episode to find out!

In this episode of Skin Anarchy, Dr. Ekta Yadav sits down with Simone Gibertoni, CEO of Clinique La Prairie, for the launch of our new Lessons In Longevity series. This is a powerful conversation about what longevity truly means today—and why it's no longer about “anti-aging,” but about living better, longer, and with intention. For nearly a century, the Swiss institution has been a leader in preventative medicine, and under Gibertoni's guidance, it has evolved into a global ecosystem built on personalized diagnostics, science-backed interventions, and deeply human care.Gibertoni shares how the rise of epigenetics has transformed our understanding of health, revealing that up to 80% of our outcomes are shaped not by genetics, but by lifestyle. At Clinique La Prairie, advanced testing—spanning epigenetics, metabolomics, and glycan mapping—guides individualized programs designed to shift habits, improve resilience, and create measurable change. But data, he insists, is only the beginning. “Information is not transformation,” he says. Real longevity comes from routines, structure, and the human relationships that support long-term growth. The clinic's Four Pillars approach—medicine, nutrition, movement, and well-being—reflects his belief that aging is multi-dimensional. Stress reduction, emotional vitality, and purpose are as essential as biomarkers. This philosophy extends into Holistic Health™, the clinic's line of precision supplements, including Epinone, formulated to support gene expression and cellular repair through structured, cyclical use. This episode reframes longevity as a mindset grounded in science, culture, and connection. In this episode, I'm sitting down with Gilly, the founder of Gilly's Organics and the host of Everyday Rock Stars. Her story is wild - in the best way! Gilly went from freelancing for huge brands like Estée Lauder, Clinique, Jo Malone, and Aveda… to suddenly losing the client that made up most of her work. Instead of going back to corporate, she followed this little spark she always had for mixing things, creating products, and helping people feel good in their skin. We talk about how Gilly's Organics actually started (spoiler: a DIY scrub and a friend who believed in her), how she got her products into Whole Foods for eight straight years, what pushed her to expand from one product to a full nine-product line, how losing her mom changed everything, how her love for storytelling led to the Everyday Rock Stars podcast, the confidence, grit, and mindset pieces entrepreneurs never talk about, what she does when self-doubt creeps in, and the movement and routines that keep her grounded. This one is full of honesty, hustle, heart, and that "just start" energy so many of us need. Executive coach Angela Bennett knows a thing or two about the unique needs of beauty and wellness industry leaders. She spent more than two decades working across L'Oréal and Estee Lauder brands like La Roche-Posay, Maybelline and Clinique in roles like vice president, general manager and svp of talent acquisition. "The subjective nature of [the beauty industry] requires an art of balancing data points, intuition and conviction [while] becoming your own leader to navigate the decisions that need to be made on a daily basis," Bennett said. But today, Bennett is part of a growing number of certified professional executive coaches who help individuals and organizations to build stronger teams. She also works one-on-one with executives who need help getting to the next level in their careers. This often entails a rigorous strategy that includes reflection, learning and planning in an effort to become a better leader with more long-term career direction. Much of this process starts with developing communication skills to suit the workplace environment and culture. “Communication coaching is really going to be about developing the skills to be clear, concise, convincing and motivating, and to really master the art of what we call ‘influencing for results',” she said. “[That means] influencing others, influencing management toward making decisions on specific strategies that, as a leader, you are recommending and wanting to push through.” In today's episode of the Glossy Beauty Podcast, Bennett introduces us to the world of executive coaching and shares her top three universal tips for executives. But first, hosts Lexy Lebsack and Emily Jensen discuss the biggest beauty news of the week. First up is wellness investment news from Oura Health Oy, the makers of Oura, the wearable health tracking ring that launched in 2015. The Finnish company is reportedly closing in on a $875 million Series E investment round that will undoubtedly impact the industry. The company could soon be valued at around $11 billion. The hosts also break down the latest influx of celebrity endorsement deals including Kris Jenner for Estée Lauder-owned MAC, Leighton Meester for indie darling skin-care brand Bubble, singer Ciara as the new face of Thorne's Creatine products, Miley Cyrus for Maybelline, and Dua Lipa's new deal with pilates reformer company Frame Fitness. Lebsack and Jensen also unpack Hailey Bieber's splashy Rhode launch with Sephora, which brought in $10 million in sales in just two days, according to Yipit, an alternative data provider and analytics firm that utilizes web and in-store receipt data. Finally, the duo discuss the closure of Kim Kardashian's 3-year-old skincare line, SKKN by Kim, including Coty's $71.1 milliones loss from its 2021 investment in the now-shuttered brand.

REDIFFUSION. Before Ron Robinson became social media's favorite cosmetic chemist, he had already built a varied career in beauty. In 1989, he was hired on the spot to formulate and develop products for Clinique and La Mer, under Estée Lauder. He formulated new SKUs and innovated products like Clinique's Turn Around Cream, which was one of the first products to use salicylic acid as a topical treatment gel. Despite his obvious aptitude for beauty science, he was on track to become a doctor like his brothers. To his parents' dismay, he dropped out of medical school but quickly found his footing in some of the most successful beauty labs. This experience is precisely why Hailey Bieber asked him to help lead RHODE, the billion-dollar brand, to success. His experience in the lab and engaging with consumers 1-1 also informed his decision to launch Beauty STAT. Ron holds a rare position as CEO, founder, and cosmetic chemist in Beauty STAT, and he's excited to continue innovating for a more knowledgeable consumer base.Tune in as we discuss:Tips on how to determine if luxury products are worth itHow he approaches developing products for melanated skinRecommendations on topical treatments for fine lines, wrinkles, and dark circlesWhy owning your beauty technologies is a big dealHow he is interested in taking on the 50+ beauty consumer marketRate, Subscribe & Review the Podcast on Apple Join the Naked Beauty Community on IG: @nakedbeautyplanet Thanks for all the love and support.
