This Week on The Hudson Valley Disc Golf Podcast: Jaimen, Corey, Jasan, Alex, Randy, Tim and eventually Evan join and, since we've run out of time the last few weeks, we start with an update on the last 3 SkipAce events and find out who made it into the Final 3 in our Guillotine League. There was also a lot of Disc Golf to talk about. Starting with the DisCap series 2025 #2 at Burbine on Friday run by Mike Schwartz. Evan, Randy and Corey were there and told us about the event and their rounds. Jasan also has a rules question that may or may not have something to do with Corey and the Wilcox Warm Up that was on Saturday and Sunday and run by Nick Warren. After we each took a shot at answering; Alex, Jasan and Corey gave us a recap of the event.Also on Saturday and Sunday Branden Cline was at Stony Kill getting player scores for seedings for the Summer Battle Royale. He'll be there next Saturday, Sunday and Monday, so there is still a chance to get in if you haven't already. With these two transatlantic amigos and like-minded souls having been (ahem) brothers in rhythm for nigh on three decades now, it was only right & proper that some of JC's studio excursions would find their way to Selador. And so it was. The achingly beautiful ‘Alden's Groove' was first, debuting on our Sweet Sixteenth Showcase in 2022, and then followed by ‘Swaddles' which graced our Seventeenth Instalment in 2023. At the time we described it as “tip top electronic headfuckery”, and some two years on, we ain't changed our minds. So naturally we're pleased as proverbial punch to now unveil a brand-new double-header from JC. ‘Slater' is first up, as clever as it is insanely catchy. It wears several 90s influences proudly on its sleeve (think ‘French Kiss' meets Desert's seminal ‘Moods' and you're part way there), while wrapping everything up in a warm 2025 blanket of sound. Listen now, thank us slater ;) On the flipside, ‘Sawyer' kicks off with a pure 80s Chicago bassline riding that Windy City wave, before Moroder-esque wonktastic riffage joins the fray and takes hold of the dance floor. So high indeed. Kostya Outta, originally from Belarus and now based in Poland, has been plying his trade in progressive house for over a decade. Wow, what can I say. My 3rd Burning Man was simply amazing and nothing short of magical! Connected with so many incredible souls from every corner of the globe, marveled at breathtaking art installations, witnessed a jaw-dropping fireworks show that left me in awe, and played one of the most unforgettable sets of my life on Friday night.
