On this episode of our Select series, we have Cairo's Adham Zahran, one of the breakthrough producers in Egypt's underground music scene, recognized for his other alias Relic & Rarity. Having been releasing music on vinyl and digital with various international labels over the last decade, Zharan is one of those artists you should keep on your radar. For his Select set, Adham Zahran crafts a deep house mix, peppered with warm grooves and various analogue sounds, featuring eclectic tunes by the likes of Green Sequence, Space Ghost and Steven Jullian & Kyle Hall.
Deeply entrenched in the underground deep house music scene for more than 25 years since the early 90's, Jenifa Mayanja staked her claim in New York and paid her dues the old fashioned way. Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Mayanja's profile has maintained a coveted underground buzz earning her a revered place in the house community and a reputation for being an innovative, fearless and respected musical ambassador for house music culture and for women in the music business. While other DJs place value on mass exposure, Jenifa Mayanja's DJ ethos is about introduction & preservation of house music culture, while injecting love and the craft of djing back into the game. She has played at premier venues like Panorama Bar, Fabric London, Lux Lisbon, Rex Club while mixing it up with gigs at beloved events like “Freerotation”, Djoon, “Kala Festival” and at Picnik Montreal appearing in a Boiler room event. Currently Jenifa holds a monthly residency at Public Records in New York called “Back to the Deep” playing alongside several luminaries such as Wajeed, JT Donaldson, Kyle Hall, Scott Grooves and Lady Monix. As a label owner, Jenifa is the creator of Bumako Recordings label, started in 2007 which introduced the world to Jenifa's signature naturalistic deep house sound. Jenifa Mayanja was also part founder of the now defunct Sound Warrior Records, the label dedicated exclusively to releasing music by other women producers. The uniqueness of her production aesthetic has seen Jenifa as a sought after remixer and guest producer for artists such as, Seb Wildblood, CC Disco, Conclave, Lauren Ritter, Coloring Lessons and Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange for SecretSundaze in addition to her own releases which include three albums. In the last couple of years, Jenifa has decided to bring her experience and knowledge to others through first educational initiatives, then formally introducing a mentoring and coaching program called “The Music Life Mentor” that works with music creatives at all levels to overcome mental and practical roadblocks to success. https://www.instagram.com/jenifamayanja MARI ELLA --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/dancetothemusic/support
Seven Davis Jr - "Soul Music" from the 2024 album Stranger Than Fiction on Secret Angels Singer/songwriter Samuel Lonnelee Davis — known to us as Seven Davis Jr. — dug into the vault for today's Song of the Day. The track was originally recorded back in 2016 around the time of his LP Universes. As he explains on Bandcamp, "It was supposed to go on the next album but did not match the tracklist. It was released on an underground EP but never officially. Detroit's Kyle Hall began playing this track out in 2022 which led to us deciding to officially release it." The soulful (no pun intended) single can now be found on new album Stranger Than Fiction, which came out last month via his own Secret Angels imprint. "I wanted to make a tribute album reflecting all the music that has played a huge role in forming who I am as an artist and as a person," he writes. "Each track showcasing a different audio aesthetic but connecting to the next like scenes in a film, creating my own world." "This project is for others like me who fit into multiple categories and none at the same time," he concludes. "While bringing it back to an old school-ish energy, simply about humble songs, good vibes and fun beats." In this episode we speak with Dr. Cammy Benton about her vision for creating an integrative health care system for all. Cammy Benton MD is a Functional Medicine trained MD who owns Benton Integrative Medicine, a holistic direct primary care office in Huntersville. She has studied integrative modalities since graduating medical school in 2000 to include nutrition, homeopathy, ayurveda and functional medicine. In recent years she is exploring more mind body and spirit paths to apply to her medical practice. Also, after the traumatic years of the pandemic, it became obvious to her the need to re-evaluate the current medical system and work on creating parallel medical systems. She is working with a team to create a mini Hospital, called Compass Integrative Health that has a fully integrative spin to help patients when they are their sickest to have the best of all of medicine. Her hobbies are learning about everything and finding more rabbit holes, dancing, enjoying time with her beloved Kyle Hall and eating dinner at home with her 4 children between kid sports. Her goal is to try to make the world a better place in every way she can and honor her path that God is providing for her. Learning Points: • How does allopathic medicine fail the patient? • Why giving space for the patient story is crucial for healing? • What is Dr. Benton's vision for creating Integrative hospitals? https://www.bentonintegrative.com/ https://www.compassintegrativehealth.com/

For episode 39, we're launching the very first playlist of the Club Management podcast! Very excited to extend the conversations of the pod into a monthly playlist filled with club-ready bangers, ambient melodies, and fun tunes that are inspired by the show. For the first installment, the playlist showcases music that has kept Shannon together, particularly throughout this last month, which has been incredibly challenging, to say the least. After losing a dear friend, a few icons--mixed with the hate crimes and travesties throughout the world, our host and fearless leader needed music to uplift her soul, as we're sure you could use too. This playlist speaks to that. For this month we feature songs from Detroit electronic producer Kyle Hall, ambient melodies from Napolean, and summery tunes from TLIM SHUG, but there's a whole lot more packed into this thang too. Normally when I’m traveling to the Okanagan, I typically stop at a halfway point for a break to stretch my legs, maybe gas up the car and grab a quick snack and continue on my journey. But now knowing there is a brewery, I may have to reconsider my stopover. I’m in the town of Merritt, British Columbia. Typically a three hour drive from Vancouver, this town is now home to The Empty Keg Brew House. I sat down with Co-owner and Brewer, Kyle Hall. artist statement: "Music has maybe been the only enjoyable escape for me during the pandemic, and my relationship to it has taken on a new shape given that I only listen at home alone, mainly on headphones, and at odd hours. I've used Ableton to DJ for over a decade now, and this mix is no exception—though I wanted to do something different here, given these new listening patterns. So this is more of a 'mega mix' style studio session, with lots of layering, edits, and quick transitions. A bit phrenetic, but the intention was to reflect some of the unease and uncertainty of the moment, while revisiting tracks I played at my last two in-person gigs in New York alongside many favorites from my years growing up in Chicago." tracklist: Ø Kolmas (Sahko, 2006) MOTORBASS Home (Motorbass, 1993) STL That Mnml Track (Perlon, 2006) SZARE Radio Silence In Buenos Aires Did Not Allay Fears Of A Cover Up (Frozen Border, 2014) PAMETEX Laque (Frustrated Funk, 2015) STUDIO 1 Gelb 3 (Studio 1, 1996) MOOD II SWING The Slippery Track (Stickman, 2000) ESPRESSO Ping Pong (Maxi, 1990) BIRDS Jennifer Has Several Wigs for Her Pussy (PAL SL, 1998) ALPHA 606 Guajiro (Alternate Jam) (Interdimensional Transmissions, 2016) SOLVENT Quantimations (Bronze Teeth Remix) (Suction, 2014) KOTAI & MO Bu (Elektro Music Dept, 1999) TWO LONE SWORDSMEN Sticky (Warp, 1998) DREXCIYA Dr Blowfins Black Storm Stabilizing Spheres (Tresor, 2002) KOTAI & MO Time Doubler (Elektro Music Dept, 1997) KERO & KYLE HALL 126 bpm (Detroit Underground, 2015) TWO SANDWICHES SHORT OF A LUNCHBOX Too Good To Be Strange (Apollo, 1997) PRIMITIVE URGES Lapis Lazuli (Primitive, 1997) SLAM White Shadows (Soma, 1996) 69 Poi Beats (Planet E, 2009) SANDMAN Machines Like This (Take the Elevator, 2014) BEAU WANZER Two Orders (LIES, 2013) CHARLES MANIER Bang Bang Lover (Dance Mix) (Ghostly, 2002) GREEN VELVET Stormy Weather (Relief, 1997) ANTHONY SHAKE SHAKIR No. 3 (Malfunctioning) (Gigolo, 1997) DJ ASSASSIN Beats for Ya Feet (Cross Section, 1998) TIME FOR TECHNO Non-Music #3 (Housetime, 1989) ECTOMORPH Satori (Interdimensional Transmissions, 1995) ILEKTRO Nodes (Klang, 1998) INTERCITY Groovin Without Doubt (KMS, 1987) 2 IN A ROOM Do What You Want (Deep Dub) (Cutting, 1989) COMMON FACTOR In To (Planet E, 1998) JACKMATE Two Tone (Freude Am Tanzen, 2007) JOEY ANDERSON Thee Analysis (Strength, 2008) A GUY CALLED GERALD In the Beginning (Rham, 1989) C-ROCK Blubokz (Hazard Mix) (STIR15, 1995) TSOS Over Beats (Soundsampler, 2011) NEIL LANDSTRUMM DS Attack (Peacefrog, 1996) PARRIS MITCHELL Computer (Remix) (Dance Mania, 1994) CAJMERE Feelin (Cajual Live, 1998) TAN RU Assembly (Trelik, 1995) BT Remember (Mood II Swing Dub) (Perfecto, 1997) STEVE O'SULLIVAN Midnight Creeper (Bluetrain, 1997) DJ SKULL Don't Stop the Beat (Djax, 1993) STEVE MURPHY & DIE ROH Last Week (Chiwax, 2012) LIL LOUIS Frequency (Track) (Dance Mania, 1987) MILCH Kinder Brei (Kotai & Mo Uschi O Remix) (ElektroMotor, 1995) THE ENDLESS POKERS The Poke (Your Turn 2 Work Me Mix) (DJ International, 1987) HANK JACKSON Chicken Fried Shrimp (Proibito, 2016) RRR Chat (Elektro Music Dept, 1995) NENEH CHERRY Everything (Vilod High Blood Pressure Mix) (Smalltown Supersound, 2014) JACKMATE Tapeworms (Resopal Schallware, 2003) METRIC SYSTEM SP-12 (Trope, 1997) BBBBBB Prins Polo Caramel Milkshake (Trip, 2016) DETROIT DIESEL Railway (Dum, 1995) TINFOIL Foil 3 (Tinfoil, 2014) THE ORB Asylum (Blood Sugar Mix) (Island, 1997) STEVE BUG Honeymoon (Russ Gabriel Remix) (Raw Elements, 2008) PATRICK PULSINGER Risk (Disko B, 1994) SVN & AU FEAT PALEO On Tempo (Wania, 2014) PORN SWORD TOBACCO & SVN Feels Good 3 (Kontra-Musik, 2015) STABLO No.9995 B (Stablo, 2012) CHRISTOPHER RAU Broke (Office, 2014) ANDY VAZ Dark inclination (Shake Shakir's Detroit Mix) (Persistencebit, 2006) TSOS Over and Over (Soundsampler, 2011) LAWRENCE King Quail (Mule Musiq, 2014) DUBSTAR Back To Back (Triptrack Edit) (Soap, 1998) ROBERT HOOD Rek (Tresor, 1994) CLAUDE YOUNG Ascension of the Elect (7th City, 1996) KOTAI & MO Panawu (Elektro Music Dept, 1997) PRIMITIVE URGES Volume 1 (Primitive, 1997) GESCOM D1 (Skam, 2007)

Byron the Aquarius is on a roll. As well as being a key proponent in the American house scene, and after a time spent as a producer for others, he is now making very much part of the conversation over in Europe. His music has landed on Theo Parrish’s Sound Signature, Kyle Hall’s Wild Oats and is forthcoming on Eglo. It is warm and deep, with the organic edge and smartly sampled soul that makes US house music so appealing. A keys player by trade, he is also a formal student of jazz, and all this shines through in his recorded output as well as the records he mixes together all over the world. Over the course of an hour for us, Byron serves up breezy and musical house grooves dripping with cosmic keys, jazz looseness and timeless good time vibes. It’s a mix with a big heart and effortless mixing style that manages to be deep but dynamic, and is one of the reasons we are so excited for him to play with us in Amsterdam in August.

You probably don't hear about Rick Wade as often as big-name Detroit house colleagues like Theo Parrish, Moodymann, or Kyle Hall, but that doesn't mean he isn't a legend in his own right. Consistently and almost obsessively, Big Daddy Rick has been dropping track after track of effortless deep house since the mid-90s. Sewn together with the perfect amount of kick, subtle oomph, and sweet, floating melody, they're the kind of tunes you simply never want to end; if you're anything like us, you'll drag back them to the start before they do. Right in time for Movement Detroit this weekend, Wade's prepared the second installment of our new THUMP Mix series, and it's soaked with his usual brand of charming deep house, with a little bit of funk mixed in. Phoenix Da Nerdette and Kyle Hall sit down to talk about Zack Snyder’s 2009 adaptation of the Alan Moore Graphic Novel, WATCHMEN.
In 2008 I started a series of radio shows with fellow Freak and host, Jonny Rock. The original format was based around vinyl. Digital started to creep in, then CD's, then YouTube rips, and so on. But the idea remained the same, that we were sharing our discoveries with an audience. Fast forwarding a couple of years and expanding on the original concept, I will once again be playing dance music that you may or may not have heard, but this time said music will be readily available, if pointed in the right direction of course. The idea is for you to use me as your selector slash shop assistant in a virtual record store. Not only will I be shouting about both old and new music, but I will also be following it up with a series of compilations to be released on my label, Classic throughout the year. I will be your slightly odd, slightly off-centre, guide. But ultimately and most importantly, your friendly on-line record shop assistant. Business As Usual: August Track Listing: 01. For the next in our podcast series we're proud to present an artist who's been on the Tribal Pulse radar for some time now. He crafts tough, bass-driven rhythms with a hedonistic edge, and with such a fresh and unique sound, it's easy to see why labels like Dubfire's Sci+Tec, Coyu's Suara and Marco Bailey's MB Elektronics have snapped up his recordings. This year you can expect more music from Johnny on a host of respected labels including MB Elektronics, Break New Soil and Sci+Tec. You can catch him play live alongside Kyle Hall and Boom Merchant at our next event on 7th June in Glasgow, and if this chaotic musical journey is anything to go by, it'll be an evening to remember. https://facebook.com/pages/JOHNNY-KAOS https://soundcloud.com/johnnykaosdj-1 https://facebook.com/TribalPulseLabel https://soundcloud.com/tribal-pulse

Moodymann — Sloppy Cosmic 02. Alex Israel — A Man of Qualities 03. O B Ignitt — Celestial Salacious 04. Omar S — Thank U 4 letting me be myself 05. Big Strick — Code 1 06.
