We discuss the pros and cons of data analysis in this podcast. Now, technologies improved a lot over the last five, 10 years, and when I was winning all my races in the 2005, 2015 era, we didn't really look a lot into data analysis. It just wasn't something that technology was up to scratch with.So nowadays when you're looking at, whether it's a Mychron unit, or Starline, Alfano, Motech for racing cars, the amount of knowledge that that computer system can gain from your driving is incredible.Whether that's where you're accelerating, where you're braking, how much brake pressure, you can GPS your racing lines, your RPM to make sure when you change the sprocket, whether it's any good or it's bad, engine temperatures. All of these things can be quite confusing and quite daunting as well, if you're new to karting. It's like, "What do I actually need to look at for me to try and establish how to go faster?"A lot of drivers don't utilise data analysis and still win races. So don't think if you're not doing it, you can't be competitive. Today we premiere Detroit inspired techno from Berlin based duo Subradeon on Rekids. The pairing wear their heart on their sleeves when it comes to releasing music and this release is no different, as Subradeon pour their heart, soul & groove into a five track EP that represents techno at its core. Subradeon is comprised of Giuseppe Salone and Salvatore Iannotta and the duo have been releasing quality techno on some of techno's most desired and honest imprints, including; Ben Sims' Hardgroove, Deetron's Character and many more since their 2017 debut on Motech. Now returning with a heavy five-tracker on Rekids Special Projects, the duo deliver a release that takes influence from the genre's history in the Motor City while simultaneously looking forward. Techno producers and DJ's first and foremost, Subradeon find soul at the heart of their work, be it via their productions or in their consistently evolving DJ sets, where the duo's strong bond and years of collaboration make for an enigmatic mix of layered techno, house, acapellas and samples mixed live, often using the classic six-turntable-two-mixer setup synonymous with back to back Techno DJing. Giuseppe Salone and Salvatore Iannotta met in their mid-teens at home in Caserta, a small city just outside of Naples, and are inspired to keep the Neapolitan techno spirit alive and well. “From the city to the suburbs, we are still struggling. For those who the job only means a piece of bread. For those who still fight for fairness, kindness, and for equality of gender, race, or religion. For those who spend their energy every day to move forward, even knowing that they will always be the last.” – Subradeon. Today we premiere the final track on their five track EP on Rekids, Human Resistance. The pair channel classic Detroit style techno on this electrifying broken rhythm. Sounding very much in the vein of early Underground Resistance records, the track oozes rapturous energy and soulful spirit. Our second premiere of the day comes from Closer Orbit as he releases an EP on Detroit's Motech Records. 'Rave Things' is an ode to Detroit, as Closer Orbit channels the classic slamming groove, combined with deep and soulful undertones. Detroit's Motech Records welcomes Nicolaas Black to the fold, as he unveils his newest project Closer Orbit with the ‘Rave Things EP'. A four track project that see Nico return to the roots of his sound and to the basics of techno funk. Nico has a long musical history, from his exposure to opera and classical at a young age to the experimental explosion in the 90s via artists like Front 242, KMFDM, 808 State, Nitzer Ebb and NIN. After attending his first illegal rave in Detroit, he learned to mix vinyl and the progression to a dancefloor aesthetic was sealed. His instinct led to a 6 year sojourn in Chicago, where he was fortunate to meet some of the seminal pioneers of house, and began assisting studio sessions at Slang Music Group - Frankie Knuckles, Paul Johnson, Joe Smooth, Ron Carroll, Craig Loftus and Vince Lawrence, amongst others. Later he worked for Mark Picchiotti at Blueplate Records, rounding out his 4-on-the-floor education. He also engineered a “Pigface” album for Martin Atkins of P.I.L. fame, solidifying his industrial roots. Countless DJ sets, raves, festivals and recording sessions later, he is now based in Los Angeles and stays committed to the studio and impromptu surf missions. A consummate producer, under several monikers his music and sets bridge the width of the underground dance music spectrum, from Chicago to Detroit, Berlin to LA; from techno to electro, jazz to funky house, disco, acid, industrial and beyond. His reproduction of Fela Kuti's ‘Zombie' remains a seminal warehouse favourite and 2020's ‘The Sun' has to-date racked up well over a million plays on SoundCloud. Priding himself on constant evolution and growth, he presents his Closer Orbit incarnation. ‘Rave Things EP' releases on 17 June, and features 4 new tracks that draw from his many influences including the monster house opener ‘Piano Track' and melodious ‘State Of (I Still Believe)', to the Detroitesque ‘Rave Things,' before the deep and synthy ‘Foldspace' closes this varied and reflective EP. 'Rave Things' is a peak time dance-floor bliss, as Nico works a 909 to the fullest and stabs and strings simmer around the front of the tracks soundscape. Victor Kiktenko, known by his stage name Module One (@creeptone), is a Russian-born and Berlin-based electronic music producer and DJ. Being a teenager he travels to the US as a student and presents his radio show Emotions on WMRS 107.7FM (Monticello, IN) where he plays different kinds of modern electronic music for the Midwest audience. Following the radio debut Victor starts producing and playing music under different aliases which later on result in the formation of a new one called Module One. The past releases of Module One include albums on Detroit Underground and Fauxpas Musik, EPs on The Bricks, LumieresLaNuit, Another, Modular Expansion, Modelhart, Motech, Thema, Uncage, collaborative records for E-Beamz, Lost Palms, Shall not Fade, Dial as well as tracks for various compilations on labels like Propaganda, Shall not Fade, Traum, etc Stay Rave with #R13!

We are very excited to share our fourteenth edition of the Equilibrisme Podcast Series. This time we proudly present you : Luke Hess. Born in 1980 in Metro Detroit and subject to the city's mid-90's warehouse parties, Luke Hess has harnessed a deep appreciation for electronic music and the expression of the underground movement. His background in mathematics and engineering has given him a scientific approach to the dance-floor, using frequencies, tones, and soundscapes to transform surroundings and mood. Luke's faith based music production landed him a seat with Omar S' FXHE label & Carl Craig's Planet-e label in Detroit. Hess has celebrated original productions and remix material on labels such as DeepLabs, FXHE, Planet-e, Motech, Beretta Grey, Echocord, Kontra-Music, Modelisme, Ornaments, Echocord Colour, & more. In 2009, Luke released his first album, "Light in the Dark" on Denmark-based record label, Echocord. "Light in the Dark" received glowing reviews and was hailed by many as one of the best deep techno albums of the year. With 15 years of DJ experience and many notable LIVE sets across the world, Luke is regarded as a perfectionist on stage. Hess is known to layer his sets in a very detailed, hypnotic, & soulful manner. After playing many notable venues & festivals such as Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Berghain & Panorama Bar - Berlin, Fabric - London, Unit - Tokyo, Culture Box - Copenhagen, Bunker - NYC, Decibel Festival - Seattle, Basement - Hong Kong, etc., he is excited to continue exploring the world stage and introducing new and old fans to his raw & deep breed of Detroit techno. Luke's continued hard work in the studio & behind the decks combined with his unyielding interest in technology and sound will no doubt stimulate the boundaries of electronic music. Eddie Hale began exploring electronic music in 2003. Embodied in a heritage of classical to contemporary music, it wasn't until he engaged in seminal records like Nightmares on Wax – Smoker's Delight and Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works that the electronic spark was ignited. Eddie was immediately influenced by the cutting-edge 90's and early 00's Detroit legacy, followed by a move to Berlin, which, as he recalls “had a big impact on me through the freedom experienced there, but also the heavy ‘Berlin luft' atmosphere, which I found really moving.” 2008 saw the start of Eddie's DJ career; as he cut his teeth with house and electro in home town Melbourne. Reflecting on this period, he acknowledges, “those early days really cemented my love for it, being given the opportunity to perform at iconic Australian festivals like Strawberry Fields and Rainbow Serpent.” 2014 saw Eddie travel across the globe to display his hard work in Amsterdam at ADE, a set at Mardi Gras 2017 in Sydney, followed by a 2019 trip to Berlin's notorious Tresor. His productions consist of rich, swirling, synthesised chords; raw drum patterns and deep grooves. The Eddie Hale sound is soulful, futuristic and full of energy - filled by techno, breaks and ambience. This versatility, coupled with sound production prowess has inevitably led him to collaborations, projects and releases with some of the finest artists and labels from Berlin to Detroit. Notable mentions include 2015 EP's on Flash Recordings, and DJ300's Motech followed by acclaimed cuts on respected imprints Intacto Records and Kevin Saunderson's classic KMS. More recently, mid2019 saw ‘Ritus', an alias between Eddie and Ray Kajioka on Swedish label Parabel. 2020 will play base for new material on ODD/ EVEN, Andre Kronert's bespoke vinyl label, with a remix by Jon Hester included. Subsequent to this comes the launch of record label ‘Denude' a new special project by Eddie, consisting of vinyl releases, supported by remixes from Joel Mull and TWR72. BIO Giorgio Quaranta aka Gforty is an Italian producer and DJ from Rome, now living in Berlin. He is a polyhedric artist mainly focused on techno music with a strong Detroit techno and Chicago house influence. Gforty began composing electronic music in 2004 at the age of 17. In November 2007 Gforty signed a deal with Teggno Records (US). He began his producer activity entering the "top 100" Beatport chart with his track “Parada” and getting his third EP “Desert Strings” launched by Carl Cox at events like the summer opening of Space in Ibiza and the Circoloco in Rome. He released his music with different international record labels. His tracks got supported and played by many of the most important international DJs like Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, X- Press 2, Ken Ishii, Truncate, DJ Bone, Luke Slater, James Zabiela, Ilario Alicante, Samuel L Session, Vince Watson, Slam, Bryan Zentz, Robert Owens, Johannes Volk, Stacey Pullen, Roberto, Beroshima and Joseph Capriati. Furthermore, Gforty secured releases on labels like Motech, Bulletdodge, Bush Records, Naked Lunch, Restructured and Bonzai. Our next episode is by an artist whose work is of huge significance to the history and progression of the Detroit techno sound; DJ 3000. Given the name '3000' by Mad Mike Banks and a member of the Undergeround Resistance/Submerge crew, he formed the now seminal Motech imprint in 2001. The label's back catalogue reads like a who's who of motor city techno, and his sounds merge the electronic rhythms reminiscent of his city with ethnic flavours from his parents' home country of Albania and beyond.
