Axel Karakasis is the most recognisable Greek name in the Techno scene. His career is marked by a number of classic themes and a series of appearances that have established him as an international DJ. The rise to his present status did not happen overnight, but goes back to the 80s and the 90s, when Techno made its first appearance. Fascinated by this new wave, Axel's courtship with electronic music saw a very different light… By the late 90s, he was already known through various DJ residencies in Athens, as well as through his regular events with his team “Bubbles” –to be remembered to this date by many! This was when the techno wiz-kid earned his place among the top Greek DJs and appeared in numerous events in the biggest clubs of the Greek capital! He soon became the most wanted Greek Techno DJ, playing regularly in the biggest venues in Athens, Thessaloniki, Mykonos, Crete and all over his native Greece. Being a restless spirit led Axel to new avenues in music production. He always wanted to play unique music in his sets. That's what drove him to get into the studio and begin his own productions. In 2000, he had his first release on Pornographic Recordings and this was only the beginning, as a string of classic releases followed in the likes of Intec Records, MB Elektronics, Primate, etc. to establish himself in a genre he referred to as “Groovy Techno”! With his very own mark on discography, Axel's international career took off. Confirming his status as the most sought after Greek Techno DJ of his time, Axel headlines events in some of the best clubs in the world, such as the Rex Club (Paris), Womb (Tokyo), Turnmills (London), tours regularly countries like Belgium, Colombia, France, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, Korea, Croatia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Holland and Brazil, to name a few, and has appeared in top festivals like Awakenings (Netherlands) Rabac Festival (Croatia), Apokalypsa (Czech Republic), etc.: he keeps exciting crowds all over the world! At present, Axel releases his music in top record labels, like Kombination Research, Planet Rhythm, Tronic and others, whereas his tracks have featured in well known compilations and mix CDs, such as Extreme Euphoria (Ministry of Sound), Cream Ibiza, I Love Techno, and many many more. However, his work wouldn't be complete without his own imprint! In his first venture, he was the co-founder of Omega Audio Recordings, which received rave reviews and support by top DJs world-wide, as well as being a platform for new talents to see the spotlight. In September 2007, Axel decided to channel all his energy into his very own brainchild, Remain Records, which is gradually transforming into a brand encompassing both vinyl (Remain Records) and digital (Remain Records and Remain Limited) releases by Axel, The Advent & Industrialyzer, Marco Bailey, Cristian Varela, Alexander Kowalski, A.Paul as well as newer talent. Axel's strong reputation is based on his consistency towards the genre that established him. Always faithful to techno, Axel Karakasis delivers all-fresh, brand-new sounds that evolve. Having earned strong support by clubbers and his peers worldwide, Axel keeps challenging the clubland with his releases and his full of energy DJ sets. TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ MARCO BAILEY Icon. Living legend. Both definitions that apply to Marco Bailey, a self-taught dj and producer whose career started to develop in the late 80s after attending a local club in his native Belgium, and being completely seduced by the rhythmic power of dance music. That was when all changed. A first approach that triggered the decision to be behind decks instead of the dancefloor. And since then, he has committed his life to music. Three decades later, he's known as an artist constantly pushing techno to its next level, this by producing his own tracks, managing his first own label MB Elektronics ( established in 2001 ), and of course, by travelling all around the world to make people dance and go crazy with his flawless technique and impeccable selection. During his career, he has released acclaimed singles, Eps and albums on labels like Primate, Drumcode, Bedrock, Intec, Arts etc, on each one of them demonstrating a forward thinking approach, and the desire to not just ignore, but break -or crush- the mold of what can be considered a trend in a certain moment. On each producion he stays 100% true to his instinct and beliefs, and that is an unbreakable pact with his heart. Nowadays, as an innovator and an artist completely and permanently devoted to his craft, he's at the helm of MATERIA, a concept that was born on 2015 as a successful event dedicated to techno in its purest form. This is Draw The Line Radio Show with Jacki-E, presenting the best music from female producers and DJs. Helping me Draw The Line this week, with her guest mix in the second hour, it's Sarah Jenny who's now based in Berlin. After years spent raving her way through London's empty warehouses, starting this year she expanded her adoration for music from dancing to mixing. Her sets are always progressive and melodic, taking dancers on a journey of inward reflection as well as outward expression through movement. Her mix is full of progressive melodies and very playful, just the right soundtrack for lighting a scented candle on a rainy winter's evening. It all starts with a beat. A virtuoso of any craft starts with a love in their heart and a belief that this is their path. Great talents make their mark on the world by perseverance, struggle and dogged determination- traits few can withstand for very long these days. But sometimes a character of substance emerges, someone whose passion and talent truly rise above the norm, someone that embodies this music like no other can, a man who champions techno like a religion, and someone that the electronic music world can admire and take pride in. Marco Bailey is truly an icon in dance music. One of the greatest legends that will have ever been existed. He cemented this status through relentless touring and with releases across a wide variety of respected labels such as: Drumcode, Intec, Sleaze and last but not least on his very own imprints MB Elektronics and MBR Limited which we are proud to work for. Marco is literally one of a kind and there must not be a place on earth where he haven't shared his energy through his music. Drumcomplex (DE) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 81 pt.2 Bio: Work-sharing is not uncommon with Techno duos. On the contrary, it is the rule rather than the exception. On the Techno scene this is only natural. One of the counterparts, with the right training, focuses on the professional record production output, while the extroverted one faces the raised fists of cheering fans on weekends and tries to relax with some quiet time on weekdays. Arnd Reichow, part of the duo Drumcomplex, has been an example of the second type all his life. Daniel, who holds a degree in sound engineering and who is also Arnd's brother, is an important support - privately as well as professionally. There could hardly be a better way to complement one another. Who has not at some point asked the question "How complex can Techno be?"As far as Drumcomplex is concerned, the answer must be: Techno can reach a degree of complexity that gets the utmost out of studio work and live performances through a perfect division of work – and has been doing so for the past ten years and more. This is also reflected in the discography: These two cover a range of prestigious Techno and TechHouse labels that would have others drooling: MB Elektronics, Phobiq, Different is Different Records, Toolroom Records, Railyard Recordings, Resopal Schallware, Definition Records, SK Supreme Records, Techno League Rec, K:lender. Firing on all cylinders, and an emphatically recommended sound system since 2003 is the upshot of all the hard work in the studio which has earned the label mass movement phenomenon over many years. And what about out there, in front of the crowds? This will raise a smile on the face of anyone who has ever seen Arnd perform in front of a crowd. And why? Because one might well ask the question how, after 20 years of DJing, someone can be so light-hearted and level-headed in their approach at the same time. Maybe it is just that magical spark from the first hour of Techno's unspoiled core that flares up at each of his sets, and always illumines the crowd a little bit as well. All that acting up around the DJ booth is certainly not for him. Arnd is the DJ who does not disappear backstage to sip champagne when he is done; he is the fan who celebrates the records of the next act together with the rest of the crowd. It is this open and honest style that brings this "Drumcomplex" to people in such a simple manner, so that no one in the crowd is able to resist its almost childlike charisma. A spark of harmony that would be nice to see more frequently on the scene again. Tom Hades (BEL) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 73 pt.2 3RD ANNIVERSARY! Bio: Tom Hades started to discover and experiment with electronic music when listening to DAF, Kraftwerk, Front 242, ... At the age of 15, he bought his first keyboard, the famous Casio CZ-101 and transformed his game-computer, Amiga 500, into his first DAW. Quickly he got experienced with MIDI-integration and sampling functions, which gave him even more urge for buying/selling new material as addition to his current setup. During the same period, his old schoolfriend, RedHead, was co-producing with Marco Bailey. He got in contact with Marco too which led them in 2000 to their first co-release. And this was the start of a big period of releases, included the anthem of "I Love Techno" in 2001. Have a look at the discography for the complete overview ... In the same year as I Love Techno, Tom started to do live performances. He got more & more experienced and started to play all over the world. His live performance was fully appreciated in countries like Spain, Colombia, Brazil, France, Poland, Sweden, Mexico, Japan, Austria, Italy, Norway, Ireland, ... and on many known festivals like Nature One, I Love Techno, City Parade, ... In the first period of 2002, Tom also produced his first solo release. In the next 3-4 years he continued to produce tracks on his own as well as his co-production with Marco on respected labels like MB Elektronics, Pornographic Recordings, Rhythm Convert, Northwest Dynamics, Invasion, Fine Audio, Patterns, Lupp, ... In 2004, they decided it was time to take the next step, start a label. And so Rhythm Convert was born. Initially, the purpose of the label was to give an opportunity to new talents to release their stuff. Guys like Axel Karakasis, Spiros Kaloumenos, Veztax, ... did a very good job to show the people what is was all about. Nowadays, the label is more aimed to produce electro-techno tracks and less oriented towards loopy techno sounds. End 2004, they released their full album, Rude Boy, caused a stirr all over the world. The best proof was their live performance during Nature One @ Pydna were they literally "blew the place to kingdom come" ! His current releases on labels like MB Elektronics & Rhythm Convert are oriented in the same way his musical taste changes, more melodic and even sometimes more dramatic music with flavors of techno, minimal, tekhouse and electro. Nowadays, Tom is busy at concentrating in his next step, to develop his "dj-career". In the near future, you can expect dj-sets with dedication and filled with energy, as known from his live-sets, to give his fans the pleasure of clubbing ! But as every self-respected artist, he will never forget his roots, so live-sets will still be part of his main occupation ! In the means of productions, future releases will certainly be done, as well as a second album together with Marco. So keep your eyes open on some new productions, because they will certainly surprise lots of people !!! Tracklist: 01. Sasha Carassi - Black Propaganda 02. Jel Ford - Backyard 03. For the next in our podcast series we're proud to present an artist who's been on the Tribal Pulse radar for some time now. He crafts tough, bass-driven rhythms with a hedonistic edge, and with such a fresh and unique sound, it's easy to see why labels like Dubfire's Sci+Tec, Coyu's Suara and Marco Bailey's MB Elektronics have snapped up his recordings. This year you can expect more music from Johnny on a host of respected labels including MB Elektronics, Break New Soil and Sci+Tec. You can catch him play live alongside Kyle Hall and Boom Merchant at our next event on 7th June in Glasgow, and if this chaotic musical journey is anything to go by, it'll be an evening to remember. https://facebook.com/pages/JOHNNY-KAOS https://soundcloud.com/johnnykaosdj-1 https://facebook.com/TribalPulseLabel https://soundcloud.com/tribal-pulse

Filterheadz (BEL) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 33 Pt. 2 Bio: Filterheadz are best known for their smash techno hits Sunshine & Yimanya as well as their highly energetic DJ performances. It all started somewhere in the 80’s when brothers Bert & Maarten Wilmaers picked up their first musical instruments. Bert on guitar & Maarten on drums. Influenced by The Police, U2 & Simple Minds they took their first steps on the way to Rock ‘n Roll stardom.... Well not exactly. After a decade of hammering away in rehearsal rooms and local stages their dream to become rockstars took a surprising twist. Almost by accident they discovered the groovy rhythms of US House Music, influenced by Roger Sanchez, Masters At Work & David Morales the boys started experimenting with loops and disco samples. Their very first US style house tracks saw the light. Armed with those tracks, the boys approached Belgian record company Headroom Music who saw the potential and took them under their wings. After a few releases under several monikers, they decided to go with ‘Filterheadz’, with the idea of releasing some more ‘Filter Disco’ records…things turned out slightly different. Two things happened almost simultaneously. First there was their remix of Minimalistix 'Struggle for Pleasure' that turned out to be an instant classic in the progressive house scene. Prolific labels like Hooj Choons, Platipus, Bedrock, Yoshitoshi and Renaissance stood in line to call upon their remix skills. The second, and most important thing: They discovered Techno. Together with Belgian DJ Tomaz they embarked on a Techno Journey that would eventually lead them to Carl Cox’ Intec where they released their all time classic “Sunshine”. Two years later they would take their signature sound even further and release “Yimanya”, another big hit. In the mean time extensive tours took Filterheadz to every corner of the globe and placed them high on the bill of events like I love Techno, Dance Valley & Tomorrowland and headlining clubs like Zouk, Womb, Ministry of Sound, Fabrik (Madrid) and so on. Their remix engine kept running full steam: Green Velvet ‘La La Land’, Eddie Amador ‘House Music’, Delirium ‘Silence’, Faithless ‘I want more’ and Eric Prydz ‘Call on me’ just to name a few. Further releases like Cartagena & Endless Summer showcased their unique blend of techno beats and melodies. The balance started to shift, less Techno & more melodic. Although tracks like “Day at the beach” & “Everything explained” on Sander Van Doorn’s label proved to be successful, clearly something was missing... Looking back at their history and inspired by their heroes Marco Bailey & Carl Cox they decided it was time for a change. The Phoenix rises from the ashes. 2012 not only marks the 10th anniversary of Sunshine and a release of a smashing remix package on 1605. It also marks the return to techno. With a string of new releases on MB Elektronics, Intec, 1605, Respekt & Toolroom. Filterheadz are once again ready to rock dance floors all over the world. Tracklist: 01. Tom Hades (BEL) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 29 Pt. 3 Bio: Tom Hades started to discover and experiment with electronic music when listening to DAF, Kraftwerk, Front 242, ... Cowboy Rhythmbox - Shake - 02. Named in DJ Mag as the "breakthrough DJ of 2008" by Adam Beyer, the last year has proven to be nothing short of that title for Kyle Geiger. Within the first year of his premier vinyl release, Kyle has achieved international notoriety, a feat that many never accomplish in their entire career as a DJ/producer. Having played literally all over America, the Indiana-based producer is set to storm the international scene. With two European tours under his belt already, including two performances at the widely touted Berghain in Berlin (Voted by ResidentAdvisor.net as the 1 club in the world), rounded off with a stop at the Dance Valley festival in Amsterdam this summer, Kyle is certainly prepared for the big things 2009 is already promising to bring. Kyle's quick rise in the international dance scene is due to both his production prowess, and his explosive decks and effects DJ sets that bridge the divide between techno and minimal. Kyle is not a producer first, DJ second, but chooses to look at both aspects of DJ and production as a whole; one is not complete without the other. Originally inspired by the harder, percussive stylings of late 90's Swedish techno featured on seminal labels like Drumcode and Code Red, Kyle has witnessed the evolution of the genre as it morphed into a slower, groove based sound. Still loving the energy and power of the earlier phases of techno while embracing the genre's changes, Kyle has refined his productions and DJ sets into what very well may be a new breed of techno that pushes things forward for the next generation of techno to come. Initially urged on by long time friends and minimal techno veterans JPLS and Skoozbot, a demo made it to Drumcode label manager Adam Beyer who was on the hunt for what he describes as a "modern techno sound". Beyer immediately put Kyle's tracks to the test at the 2007 Winter Music Conference and invited him onboard as a Drumcode artist. With two highly regarded releases on Adam Beyer's Drumcode label, remixes for Droid Recordings, Renovatio and MB Elektronics, and licensed tracks for the legendary Music Man and Harthouse labels' mix compilations, the future is proving to be a very promising place for Kyle Geiger as he continues to take his widely recognized DJ set around the world and to the next level.
This man needs no further introductions. He is the best known Greek Techno export at this time with a long-standing career that still grows stronger. His success story begins in the late 80s when Techno made its first appearance. From this point onwards, Axel’s courtship with electronic music saw a very different light… By 1996, midst of an era that saw electronic music taking over the Greek dance scene, he was already known through various DJ residencies. In addition, together with the team "bubbles" he organised regular events –to be remembered to this date!- with a huge crowd of supporters! This was only the beginning for a series of very successful events in some of the biggest clubs in the Greek capital, and not only! In the following years, he became the most wanted Greek Techno DJ, having played in the biggest venues in Athens, Thessaloniki, Mykonos, Crete and all over his native Greece. Notably, DJing was not the only outlet for Axel. He sets up his own studio and starts exploring avenues in music production. To put it in his own words: “I’ve always wanted to create the music I had in my mind…”. In 2000, he meets Marco Bailey and starts releasing his productions in Pornographic Recordings (Marco Bailey’s and Cristian Varela’s label). He continues his productions and releases tracks in some very respected labels, such as MB Elektronics, Primate, MB Selektions, Rhythm Convert, etc. to establish himself in a genre he refers to as…Groovy Techno! Nowadays, Axel continues to release his music in world’s top record labels, like Intec Records (Carl Cox’s own imprint!) and Primate Recordings, whereas his tracks are played by some of the best Dj’s around the globe and have featured in well known compilations and mix CDs, such as Extreme Euphoria (Ministry of Sound), Cream Ibiza, I Love Techno, and many many more… After many years of hard work in the studio and together with Spiros Kaloumenos he launches Omega Audio Recordings. Having made Omega Audio one of the most respected labels, Axel is now channelling all his energy into his own brainchild, REMAIN RECORDS. The label was officially launched in September 2007. Confirming his status as the most sought after Greek Techno DJ of his time, Axel headlines events in some of the best clubs in the world, such as the Rex Club (Paris), Womb (Tokyo), Turnmills (London), tours regularly countries like Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, Korea, Croatia, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Holland and Malta, to name a few, and has appeared in top festivals like Awakenings (Netherlands) Rabac Festival (Croatia), Apokalypsa (Czech Republic), etc : he keeps exciting crowds all over the world, as well as in Greece! At this moment Axel Karakasis is internationally recognized as the best known Greek techno DJ for his full of energy 3 decks sets and featuring rigorous musical selection that portrays his style. Surely, there is more to come from this unstoppable techno rebel….
