Tunes For A Minute is a podcast that was started as an effort to disrupt the music industry. Our first focus is to freely give artists content, community, and opportunity.
We're back! We'll be releasing short-form podcasts on topics like Cover bands: How they affect the music scene, lead singer syndrome, how to market yourself, and so much more! In this episode, we cut it up with James Beeson frontman for Mountain King music and founder of Beesonstock Music & Arts Festival. We could all use a lesson in work ethic from James. Being a husband, father, bandleader, and founder of a music festival doesn't come easy. We chat about how he handles everything and why he feels the festival is important for his community. Links to the important stuff: His band: https://www.facebook.com/mountainkingmusicandstuff/ His festival: https://www.facebook.com/Beesonstock-133921023301782/
Colin had the chance to take the stage with Victor Wooten for his clinic/show at Elgin Community College but before that he interviews some of the talented artists Victor took on tour with him. Other updates include: Recording with Myna McArthur. Working on something special with Matt Holmes from The Echo Mill studio. Joining Sneaker Heartz! And shows ... of course we didn't forget upcoming shows! Love, TFAM

We're chatting about what we've been up to this summer, what's new, and what to expect in Season 3!
It's that time again. We're hanging out and listening to some of our favorite local artists. In this episode we're listening to: 1. ESSO Afrojam Funkbeat 2. Noah Gabriel 3. Oblio and Arrow All of these bands deserve a listen so please check them out! They make great music and the best part is that its HONEST talent. Keep on keepin' on.
One of my favorite things about music is that sometimes stuff like style and genre don't matter. There are moments during any live performance where WHAT your fellow bandmates are playing doesn't matter as much as HOW they're playing it. This doesn't reflect the quality of musician as much as it does the quality of the person. Our most recent guest, Jerry Eady, is a "HOW" musician not "WHAT" musician. His energy and willingness to be open about how he plays his music made for a great interview and tune. Come and listen. - J Tracked at Lucky Cat Studios (St. Charles IL) Mixed & Mastered by Jay Mathes, Swiftly Running Records
This is the kind of episode you think about days after listening to. • “The best feeling you can get from music comes from letting it happen and responding in an honest way.” - Chris Otepka • We created music then chatted with Chris of @the_heligoats and @troubledhubble. You don’t want to miss it. Thank you to @kiwiaudio for opening your doors. Thank you @swiftlyrunning for engineering all the sounds. Thank you @thecountercultureclub for
We're hanging out and listening to songs from more of the artists that have joined us on the show! This episodes features: @MeloTripp @CardinalHarbor @moore @JakeMack & The Lesser Stags
Hard work and fun are the main topics in this episode and Joe Marcinek is a shining example of both. Joe leads the Joe Marcinek Band, which features a new lineup of musicians every night. He’s featured stellar musicians such as Bernie Worrell (RIP), George Porter Jr., Shaun Martin, Tony Hall, Jennifer Hartswick, and many more. With an ever changing lineup you can only imagine the work that goes into each and every show especially when he handles all booking and publicity himself. Joe attributes a lot of his success to the fact that he keeps things fun. At the end of the day isn’t that why we started playing music in the first place?
Cardinal Harbor + Tunes For A Minute = A room full of talented musicians. There were SEVEN of us collaborating on this tune and we think it turned out awesome! It's by far the most put together tune we've created and we're excited to share it with you guys! The interview was just as much fun as we talked about why rivalries shouldn't exist in music, how in the world "pay to play" still exists, why Spencer and Brit stared Velway Sessions and SO MUCH MORE! MORE CAPS MEANS WAY SO MUCH MORE! Use headphones. Audio Engineered by Jay Mathes - @swiftlyrunningrecords Video by @joshtheinformer (see IG, FB, or YT for video)
In this episode, we're just listening to some of the artists we've had on the show and hanging out. Plus a very special NEW SEGMENT called Campfire Wonderings with our newest TFAM Crew Member ... Umberto. Enjoy! Featured in this ep. Joe Marcinek, Rebel Soul Revival, Security Culture, Jeff Chi, and The Counter Culture Club.
Mike K-Nein has a teachers heart if we've ever seen one which makes for an educational episode. We learned a lot hearing his perspective on how musicians should approach today's music industry. Don't miss this one! "If there's a choice between one or the other, do both and just work harder." - K-Nein
The family continues to grow, and in the newest TFAM episode featuring Drew Doepke (Rebel Soul Revival), it's more evident than ever. We continue to meet professionals in the music industry that genuinely want to see other projects succeed as much as their own. Drew is no exception. He has a big heart, and you can tell by the way he talks about other bands that for him it's not a competition, he just loves music. Brock Galauner (White Buffalo Music Fest, Dreamers & Doers) also joins us in this episode as we talk about projects we're involved in, how Rebel Soul Revival put together their 6-week tour, recording at IV Lab in Chicago, and much MUCH so MUCH oh so mucho more! Wait, I didn't even mention how ROCK that one-minute tune is. Well ... it's ROCK. Make sure to use headphones!
This marks the first episode where Jason isn't on the kit as our first guest Chris Sanchez (who's only 17 though you wouldn't notice judging by his work ethic) an up and coming drummer out of Chicago IL throws it down dirty with our second guest Angrous (in his late 20s) a calm, cool, and collected MC out of Elgin IL who's demeanor would have you believe he's been doing this his whole life not just the last 5 years. In this episode we talk Top 5 artists, what the Hip Hop culture actually is, Family / Crew vs Friends, and how relationships can affect pursuing music. Not to mention The Roots, Black Thought, Ric Wilson, and more as we hear some stories from shows Chris has been blessed enough to play. You can find Angrous on Facebook and Instagram: @angrouswc Soundcloud: @Angrous You can find Chris Sanchez on Facebook: Chris Sanchez Instagram: @imchrissanchez
Season 2 Ep. 2 is LIVE with THE RYANS (@ryancaldwellmusic and Ryan Worthy @shadyplayband) - link is in our BIO. Let me start off by saying the one minute tune we made for this episode is by far one of my favorites, we like to call it Disco Funk and word on the street is @jeffchi_music is looking to add some bars to it! We talk about band couples, learning skills we never thought we would due to being full time musicians, and how not to be a jerk-musicians. Use headphones.
In this episode we sat down with Jake Mack (‘Lesser Stags’ not included). Jake is an extremely hard working, honest, and passionate guitar player / songwriter; he’s been working as a full time musician for the 4 past years (in 2017 he played 192 shows) and this episode is packed with practical advice on how he stays above water in an ever changing music industry. We talk about influences and mentors such as Gregory Hyde, venues and venue owners that are doing it right like The Law Office Pub and Boyd Ingemunson, artists Bob Weir, Cory Chisel, and more. This here episode was a blast! Jeff Chi is the very first TunesForAMinute guest that found us online just from browsing instagram. His goal this year was to start playing with a band but he wasn't sure how to go about it until he found us. It's been about 3 weeks since we sat down with Jeff and we have put together a lot more than just a minute of music at this point. Keep an eye out for upcoming show dates! All songs featured in this episode are Jeff Chi.
Podcast episode #2 and video session #16 are here. This time it's Gary, aka Sleepless out of Elgin IL. We had a great time with Sleepless; this guy is genuine, passionate, and believes in what he's doing. We cover the beginning, i.e. why he started playing, to present day happenings all in under 21 minutes. Let us know what you guys think and be honest! Much love. TFAM
An intimate perspective on the creative process of a TunesForAMinute video session and an insight into Melo Tripp the artist and his upcoming album That Good Grief : Tales of the Dubious, and more.
