Black History Month is here and for those of us who didn't how, why, or when it started we have ALL the tea for you! Thank you to Carter G. Woodson and Jesse E. Moorland for establishing the ASALH (Association for the Study of African American Life and History) which in turn started National Negro History Week. The rest, as they say, is History! We also drop some little known factoids and breakdown some of the topics in the movie "Crack" on Netflix. 

In our first episode leading into Black History Month, we're diving into some things in History, specifically the history of slavery, that wyt America refuses to tell you. Did you know that the third verse of the National Anthem celebrated the murder and enslavement of African American's? We're asking all the questions that society doesn't want to answer. Why are "Cultural Studies" an elective and not Now let's get into this History Tea!!

The Inauguration of the 46th President of the United States was Wednesday Jan 20, 2021 and what a historical day it was!! In episode 8 we get into all of the amazing strides made by Black women and Dems alike. Sit back and listen to us kiki and chat about the festivities!

Taking ownership or mistakes, situations created, or simply owning up to the time you at your sibling's leftovers while they were at school. Taking accountability is the best way to gain trust and respect in the world!

In this episode we get down to the nitty gritty! We are FED UP with this bullsh*t excuse for leadership and its time for a real change!!

In this weeks episode we detail exactly the difference between calling us "blacks" versus "Black People" or "African American". Black people have been dehumanized long enough and its time to delete the former from your vernacular. We also discuss acceptance of ALL Black people across the entire diaspora and why you need to put some respeck on our name!!!

Urban Proper is back and better than ever! This year has been CRAZY! Sit back with us as we catch up with each other and catch you up on everything that has happened this year! In "For the Culture - Part 2" we dive into things of the past like wholesome tv shows and prolific role models. We also discuss cancel culture, its impact, and just what needs to happen to keep this modern day Black Renaissance afloat!

Episode six is upon us and in this episode the over-aching theme is the omission of black cultural and creative advances from history. We discuss how things like the Harlem Renaissance, being brought here as slaves, and so much more have influenced all of our modern entertainment and creative ideas, sounds and visions. We talk about the difference between cultural appropriation vs cultural appreciation and the real difference between the two.

In this week's episode we sit down to discuss toxic relationships. Be they platonic, romantic, familial or otherwise, toxic relationships and people exist in all of our lives and it is up to us to unlearn toxic behavior for ourselves and learn what behaviors we will not accept.

It's Pride Month and y'all know what that means, it's time to #ShakeTheStraights!!! In episode four we drop all you need to know about the LGBTQIA+ community, how Pride started, and just what the Stonewall Riots meant for the queer community.
