We are all a product of what has been blessed and cursed in our family lines. In Exodus 20:5-6 it says, the blessing of those who love God goes for a thousand generations, but the iniquity of the fathers goes to the children of the third and the fourth generations. The good news is you don't have to continue to live under the curse of past generations. The blood of Jesus has given each of us a choice. We can either passively continue living under the curse or break the power of the curse with the authority we have been given. Your choice will set the course for the next generations.

Janell and Ana met at a small group when she was a senior in High School in 2019. They've formed a beautiful friendship since then.   Ana was born and raised in Chelan, WA. Summary In this episode, Dr. E tackles a difficult question from an adoptive parent wrestling with the idea of “generational curses” and the lingering effects of brokenness. Dr. Easley reminds us that while Scripture warns about the consequences of sin, it does not teach that children are doomed by their parents' failures. Instead, each person is responsible before God for their own life and choices. At the same time, we can't ignore the very real challenges that come with adoption: past trauma, struggles with attachment, and the weight parents feel to somehow “fix” their children. Through both biblical teaching and personal experience, Dr. Easley points listeners back to the steady hope of the gospel. Parents cannot control outcomes—but they can faithfully love, nurture, and pray, trusting the Lord to do what only He can do. Adoption mirrors our place in God's family: welcomed, broken, yet deeply loved. This conversation is an honest encouragement for adoptive parents, foster families, and anyone walking through the complexity of raising children in a fallen world. Twelve years ago, Noelle Lawson died from alcohol poisoning. Her husband, Scott, had just been trained to do CPR and was able to revive her before the ambulance arrived. Their lives have never been the same since. Scott and Noelle share their story of alcoholism and how a deadly accident Scott was involved in while in high school delayed his obedience to follow God into the ministry for over 30 years. Both Scott and Noelle share how God transformed them by breaking their addiction to alcohol and move on to become counselors. Scott is the former pastor of Happy Trails Cowboy Church in Pelzer, S.C. and he and Noelle have recently merged their church with Temple Baptist in Simpsonville, SC and have moved their congregation there as well. They share their hard story of how God brought them into an amazing relationship with Him through His faithfulness and healing.
