It was a fun time and I'm glad I got to have them on the show. Check it out! Also, take a look what the label has to offer as well here: https://shiptoshoremedia.com

Oops! All Guest-Hosts! It's a special week in the gaming world! And since we are, shall we say "gaming-adjacent", we are left sans deux of our regular hosts. While Paul and Anthony are off gallivanting with the games and people of E3, Jeremy is covering game-music-on-vinyl for everyone out there in Podcast Land... but he's not alone. Joining us today are Jeff Roberts from Marshall Art and Aaron Hamel from Ship to Shore Media, who are here to surprise and delight us with music selections from their vinyl repertoire. First, Jeff takes us through selections from The Pink Album, by Kirby's Dream Band. With a faithful interpretation (and oh-so-cute stylings!) the band gives us the full Kirby treatment and a few other treats! Next, the irrepressible (but very repress-able) Aaron gives listeners a special Ship to Shore preview of not three, not five, but FOUR tracks from upcoming releases on the label. (Esper Dream 1 & 2, Gradius 2, Wai Wai World, and The Legend of the Mystical Ninja). As always, we discuss the news and new releases on vinyl since the last show, and we conclude with a discussion about local record stores carrying our favorite game soundtracks on vinyl. Have you found that game soundtracks are easy or hard to come by in your area? Let us know! Thanks for listening! Jeremy speaks to Aaron Hamel about Ship to Shore's efforts to bring classic video game soundtracks like Lagrange Point, Darius, and Bayou Billy to the U.S. Then, Joe Granato shares the inside track on his successful Kickstarter project, the do-it-yourself 8-bit game creation kit NES Maker.
Welcome one and all to 2018 with Video Game Grooves! In our inaugural episode for the year, we invite Aaron Hamel from ShiptoShore Media to kick things off! Ganbatte everyone and all that! We begin our game-music-on-vinyl-records journey with the news since our last show! A few new records are available, and even a couple of curious releases! How hard will our collective wallet be hit in the new year? Our features section kicks off with Bastion by Supergiant Games! This acclaimed 2011 soundtrack saw its vinyl release last year, and Jeremy explores the themes of restoration and "swampy guitar", and invents a super-hyphenated genre classification to finally place the Darren Korb score where it belongs on the shelf in our hearts. For our second pick, Aaron helps us explore the oft-overlooked music of Rocket Knight Adventures, for the Genesis/Megadrive. This release from ShiptoShore PhonoCo surprises us as some of the best music we didn't know the system could produce, alongside VGG's previously-featured greats like Gunstar Heroes! Anybody know where we can find a decent Sparkster plushie?? For our third segment we nail down our new year's resolutions as they pertain to game music, vinyl records, and game music on vinyl records. The whole crew express the ways they want to improve their relationships with their turntables and where applicable, their work at their respective music labels. We'd love to hear yours too! Tweet us or post in the comments on our episode blog! Outro: "Setting Sail, Coming Home (End Theme)" - Bastion, by Darren Korb (ft.
