Read transcriptBy 2005, Konami had made three TMNT beat-em-ups based on the 2003 animated series, which is the kind of commitment usually reserved for tax filings or long-term relationships. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: Mutant Nightmare landed that November on GameCube, PS2, Xbox, and Nintendo DS as the trilogy's closer, and Konami sent it off in style by giving it the series' first E10+ rating, as if four years of shell-based violence had finally crossed some invisible threshold of Too Much. The game loosely adapts the show's third season across four “Episodes,” which means the Triceratons invade Earth, Agent Bishop kidnaps Splinter for reasons that presumably made sense to somebody in a government facility somewhere, and Shredder shows back up to remind everyone that retirement isn't really a thing that happens to ninja warlords. Along the way you can pour experience points into skill scrolls, transform into a Dino Turtle or an Ultimate Turtle depending on the mood, and, if you clear the first Episode, unlock a modified version of the 1991 arcade classic Turtles in Time, which is Konami's way of saying “here's the good one, in case this one doesn't land.” Joining me to sort the Triceratons from the Foot Ninjas is Pierce Lydon of Spawnography, the podcast where he and George Marston work through Todd McFarlane's entire Spawn mythology one hellish arc at a time. Pierce has already survived one trip through the Play Comics gauntlet with me on Spawn in the Demon's Hand, so they know exactly what they signed up for this time: showing up, being extremely knowledgeable, and getting talked into yet another licensed beat-em-up nobody asked for. So grab a ninja scroll, pick a turtle, any turtle, and let's find out whether Mutant Nightmare sent Konami's turtle trilogy out on a high note, or whether the Triceratons should've just stayed home. Learn such things as: When is it appropriate to make a game without the most iconic villains? How much can you cram into a game when you know it's your last one? What magical things can you find at your public library? And so much more! You can find Spawnography on BlueSky, and Instagram, and of course those Apple Podcast, YouTube, and Spotify places.

Released June 11, 2026 for PS4 and Nintendo Switch, the game delivers a special 30th anniversary Success mode, brand-new World Baseball Classic (WBC) mode with expanded international teams, and updates across Success, Eikan Nine, Pennant, My Life, and Power Fest. Analytic Dreamz examines the second major patch dropped on June 30, 2026, including the critical Eikan Nine scout bug fix and 10 targeted improvements for that mode, while addressing player reports of new bugs introduced post-update. The discussion also explores the WBC mode's global focus, featuring authentic rosters and surprise inclusions like the Czech Republic national team—where many players hold everyday jobs as firefighters, accountants, and utility workers—alongside strong European representation from the Netherlands and Italy. First-week sales data from Famitsu is reviewed, with PowerPro 2026 moving over 100,000 physical copies on Switch to claim the top spot in Japan.

PlayStation's latest broadcast has delivered a striking statement of intent for the coming years, anchored by Santa Monica Studio's surprise unveiling of God of War: Laufey. Shifting focus to Kratos's late wife, Faye, the mainline sequel promises an intense mythological journey through a netherworld for dead deities. This blockbuster reveal was flanked by a visceral, violent seven-minute gameplay debut of Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine—officially dated for 15 September 2026—and a modernized reimagining of Lara Croft's debut adventure in Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. The showcase also proved highly lucrative for horror enthusiasts and indie devotees alike. Glasgow-based studio Screen Burn has transposed Konami's psychological terror to a misty Scottish coastline in Silent Hill: Townfall, arriving this September alongside Capcom's sword-slashing revival Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Meanwhile, Until Dawn is receiving an unexpected tropical island sequel, Rayman Legends Retold is pivoting the mascot into a fully 3D space, and the team behind Dave the Diver has unmasked a standalone culinary prequel, Bancho the Chef. Together with the panel's personal highlights from the UK Games Expo 2026, the episode offers a comprehensive look at an industry balancing nostalgic remakes with bold narrative pivots. #gameburst

Episode #426 of BGMania: A Video Game Music Podcast. Today on the show, Bryan and Bedroth shine a spotlight on the career of Nobuko Toda, a composer whose work has quietly shaped some of gaming's biggest franchises while rarely receiving the recognition afforded to many of her contemporaries. After studying at Berklee College of Music and joining Konami in the early 2000s, Toda became an integral part of the company's music team, contributing to everything from Metal Gear and Pro Evolution Soccer to lesser-known projects that showcased her incredible versatility. Throughout the episode, we explore the many sides of Toda's career, from her early Konami years through her later work. Along the way, we celebrate a composer whose music can be intimate, unsettling, heroic, reflective, and exhilarating, often within the span of a single soundtrack. From iconic franchises to hidden gems, this Composer Appreciation episode is dedicated to an artist whose contributions to video game music deserve far more attention than they've traditionally received. BGMania B-Sides #48 of BGMania: A Video Game Music Podcast. Today on the show, Bedroth shines a spotlight on Beyond the Labyrinth, the Nintendo 3DS dungeon crawler developed by tri-Ace and published by Konami. Despite never receiving an official release outside of Japan, the game has developed a reputation among soundtrack enthusiasts thanks to its remarkable score, which blends sweeping orchestral arrangements, haunting melodies, and a sense of mystery that perfectly complements its fantasy setting. Beyond the Labyrinth may be a relatively obscure title, but its music is anything but forgettable. Composed by the legendary Motoi Sakuraba, the soundtrack showcases many of the qualities that have made him one of the most celebrated composers in video game music, from intricate compositions and dramatic flourishes to moments of surprising beauty and restraint. Whether you're already familiar with the game or discovering it for the first time, there's plenty here to appreciate as we explore a soundtrack that deserves far more attention than it has received. The episode kicks off with a string of rapid fire updates, including Hasbro's baffling decision to print My Little Pony Secret Lairs for Magic: The Gathering, the announcement of an animated Bloodborne movie, and Sony's newly filed patent for a moldable controller that has everyone questioning whether it is innovation or gimmickry. The guys also dig into one of the wildest rumors of the week: Nintendo allegedly leaking false information internally to catch leakers, a move that feels both strategic and very on brand. From there, the conversation shifts to Xbox, where leadership is reportedly debating the future of exclusives and whether the company should pivot toward publishing games across all platforms. John breaks down the potential identity risks, while Ryan explores the financial logic behind a more open strategy. The tabletop world gets its share of attention too, as rumors swirl that Wizards of the Coast may shift D and D publishing to third party studios, raising questions about quality, workload, and the future of the brand. To wrap things up, the Inflation Deflation Game of the Week spotlights Bucky O'Hare for the NES. John and Ryan revisit the Konami cult classic, examining its difficulty, charm, and current market value before deciding whether this green furred space hero still holds up or if nostalgia is doing the heavy lifting.   Find us on TheGameDeflators.com   Twitter - www.twitter.com/GameDeflators Facebook - www.facebook.com/TheGameDeflators Instagram - www.instagram.com/thegamedeflators   The views and opinions expressed on this channel are solely those of the author. Press Pause Radio - Podcast

Certain logos instill a sense of wonder and comfort the instant they shimmer onto the screens of our games. The branding of something like the Konami bacon strips or neon-styled letters of SEGA getting shouted out through the speakers invokes a fuzzy feeling of what’s to come. One logo, in particular, carries such weight behind its presence that the moment you hear a certain jingle ringing, you know the blue-and-yellow juggernaut has arrived, accompanied by its trademark chime. After 40 years, Capcom remains a titan in the video game industry, commanding a plethora of software that has defined the medium, with several iconic video games that have made the Japanese video game developer and publisher a veritable household name among consumers and insiders alike. So what’s a dumb Video Game Podcast to do but to try and hash out a casual “Best of” list from Capcom across forty years' worth of hardware? Well, we can’t help but give it the ol’ college try! Longtime friend of the show, Rob Rich of Unwinnable Magazine, joins George and Andrew to do a roundtable discussion of which Capcom games are the cream of the crop for their respective platforms of the era since the company’s inception in 1984. One HUGE caveat, though—the gang was restricted from choosing any MAIN-LINE entries (meaning that spin-off titles are eligible for nomination) from the following series: Mega Man, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Ace Attorney, or Monster Hunter. Needless to say, it made for one helluva chop-up of podcast, and the crew still found time to talk about other shit too, like the difference between saying Happy Easter or Happy Resurrection, and the Toby Fox translation drama for Undertale and Deltarune. We're in the midst of a promising month of releases on PlayStation 5, and our patience is finally about to be rewarded. For starters, Housemarque's first party third-person shooter Saros has gone gold. So, too, has Capcom's beleaguered (yet incredibly promising) Pragmata, which was first revealed in 2020 for a 2022 release. Starfield's and Hades II's PS5 debuts, Mouse: PI For Hire's launch, the Konami-published Darwin's Paradox, the undoubtedly addictive Vampire Crawlers, and much more have us asking: When are we supposed to find the time to play all of this? It's a good problem to have! Plus: Sony purchases British machine learning firm Cinemersive Labs, Neil Druckmann teases the future of The Last of Us, Stellar Blade developer Shift Up buys Shinji Mikami's new studio outright, Disney executives are apparently interested in acquiring Epic, MindsEye's bizarre drama gets even weirder, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! What's the status of Fairgames? Are there any Life Is Strange fans in the LSM crew? Should gaming be more accessible to the poor? We were already recording this episode when unexpected news broke: Sony is shuttering Texas-based first-party remake and port specialist studio Bluepoint. Equally shocking -- when taking into context the many first and second party failures, flubs, and misalignments in recent years -- is PlayStation Studios lead Hermen Hulst still somehow having a job. Bluepoint has an exceptional pedigree alongside untapped potential, but that's been squandered by the same machinery that allowed them to make a multiplayer game in the first place. Who is responsible for all of this first party buffonery? What's with this obsession with established teams all chasing the same exact thing? And how lucky is Sony that the going is so good for PlayStation 5 that none of this really seems to matter? Here's hoping the bloodletting begins and ends here, but we're skeptical. Other news this week includes rumors of PlayStation 6's delayed timeline, when we might expect to see Santa Monica Studios' unannounced title, McFarlane Toys picking up the Sony toy license, and more. Then, we wrap things up with listener inquiries. On the back of Silent Hill: Townfall's PS5 console exclusivity, why does Sony bother chasing these deals these days? Does Fairgame$ have an icecube's chance in hell of succeeding? Will God of War's remake be one compilation or three separate games? Is Dustin ready for his fatherly snot-sucking duties? Sony ran an all-timer of a State of Play last week, so we spend a bunch of time digging into a bunch of news and demos about God of War Trilogy Remake, Control Resonant, and Konami's impressive bundle of Castlevania, Silent Hill, and Metal Gear games. Also, games like God of War: Sons of Sparta, Menace, Heart of the Forest, and Avowed on PS5. Also, Vinny's questionable encounter at the Outback Steakhouse. Sony has accomplished a truly rare feat in this contentious era by providing players with a widely-lauded hour-plus State of Play presentation. At the top of the heap of announcements for many are a duo of God of War-related unveilings -- the long-rumored 2.5D Metroidvania game and an early-in-development ground-up remake of the original PS2 and PS3 trilogy -- with the former project stealth released at the time of its reveal. That's right: You can buy it right now! 29 other games were showcased, revealed, and otherwise shown off during the proceedings as well, like a new Castlevania called Belmont's Curse, a sequel to Kena: Bridge of Spirits called Scars of Kosmora, a AAA John Wick project, stealth title Yakoh: Shinobi Ops, the second volume of Konami's Metal Gear Collection, and much, much more. Plus, fresh looks at Saros, Resident Evil: Requiem, Marathon, Mina the Hollower, Beast of Reincarnation, Marvel Tokon, Control Resonant, Pragmata, 4LOOP, and so on. Other news rounds things out this week -- like steep layoffs at Highguard studio Wildlight and casting details for 2027' Helldivers film -- before we move onto listener inquiries. Worum geht's?
