"And when he stared me down, that ghost, I knew he was here to kill me...and why shouldn't he?" A bombastic, emotional, and somewhat messy finale to our Death Stranding analysis is here, as Rick, along with Nick and Will (Friday Night Gamecast, see the story to its completion. This miniseries is all about rhythm - rhythm games, that is. We recognize that three middle-aged white guys may not be the best option to talk about this episode's game so we asked local (and international) legends Chris Austin and Leon Brunson to give us an insight into the strategy, gameplay, and tournament scene of Konami's Dance Dance Revolution. What kind of hardware do Leon and Chris (literally) bring to the table? How many times have we moved Adam's DDR? What ever happened to Toshiba? Did we identify the perfect footwear for home DDR play? Questions this episode include what arcade game perfectly captures the spirit of Florida and what was our first arcade and pinball fix. It's hard to argue that Japanese developer M2 haven't been great stewards of porting games from a certain era, and their relationship with Konami has been especially fruitful. Going back decades, it's produced some of the best retrospective compilations of the developer's best series, especially with their Contra and Castlevania Anniversary Collections.

In today's Daily Fix:Looks like there's still some bad blood between gaming auteur Hideo Kojima and his former employers at Konami. In an interview with Ssense, Kojima was asked if he was going to play the upcoming remake of his Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, titled Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater. He replied, "No." Kojima and Konami had a falling out during the development of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which saw the famed developer leave to form his own studio, which has released two Death Stranding games. In other news, Hollow Knight still does not have an official release date, despite a Nintendo Partner Direct happening, which would have been a good opportunity to make the announcement. And finally, in the same Direct, a new Octopath Traveler was announced for all current-gen consoles.

There's a lot to say about the music in this mixtape, but I'll try to keep it brief. "The Final Space Fight (Stage 6)" from Falsion comes in strong with that iconic Konami sound we all know. Following that, "Options Theme ~ City Area" from Kid Chameleon is a total funk-fest with some great slappin' crunchy bass similar to something you might hear in Toejam & Earl. "Exodus (

Hello one and all, and welcome back to another exciting episode of Surviving the Horror! On this month's episode Colin and Josh are back to examine a perhaps misunderstood and underrated horror game of the Xbox 360 era. In 2008, Konami and Double Helix published Silent Hill: Homecoming. This game, positioned as the fifth main line Silent Hill title, was the first in the franchise to be developed entirely by a Western studio. With a troubled development cycle, various conflicting inputs from Konami producers, and a change in the horror landscape at the time with games like Resident Evil 4, would Silent Hill: Homecoming have what it takes to rise to the occasion and satisfy fans? The answer at the time was a resounding no, with the game garnering mixed critical and user reception. However, in light of what we know today, and the history of its development, perhaps folks were too hard on Homecoming. Homecoming tells the story of Alex Shepherd, a solider returning to his home town of Shepherd's Glen after being wounded in battle. Alex arrives to find the town is in disarray, and most notably his brother and many other children in the town are missing. As Alex delves deeper into the long held traditions and secrets of Shepherd's Glen he too delves deeper into his own psyche and fragmented self. The end result is a horrific journey through hellish landscapes, and the dark recesses of the mind. Is it the best Silent Hill game out there? Undoubtedly no; but is it as bad as people on the internet would have you believe? Absolutely not. We hope you enjoy this lengthy episode on what is considered the "black sheep" of the Silent Hill franchise. Thank you for listening!

In this very special episode of Bonfire Conversations, I finally sit down with Ludvig Forssell—composer and audio director behind Metal Gear Solid V, Death Stranding, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. We talk about his journey from Sweden to Japan, how he landed his first gig at Konami, and what it's really like collaborating with Hideo Kojima. Ludvig shares stories from behind the scenes, the emotional philosophy behind Death Stranding 2, and why AAA games may be forgetting the beauty of music. We also explore love, fear, and absurdity in our Penny for Your Thoughts segment—including what it's like to work with Norman Reedus and the moment a fishbone beach became the sound of another world. This conversation took place while I was in Iran—just weeks after the country was bombarded and cut off from the world. But against all odds, through chaos and broken signals, we made this connection happen. And maybe that's the spirit of Death Stranding too.

Eerste spelen, game zuigt, tweede keer, GOTY?

With Bend Studio laying off 30% of its staff as it gears up to enter a lengthy pre-production stage, it's clear their next release (should it ever materialize) will be on PlayStation 6. This is just the most recent example in a lengthening string of Sony absolutely botching its first party initiative, deploying teams on projects that make no sense, purchasing studios that have never even released a game, and complicating a service game strategy that -- at least on paper -- made a lot of sense. Where does the buck stop, exactly? And how lucky is Sony and the PlayStation brand that they've been able to coast almost entirely on external content and commercial inertia all the while? Plus: MindsEye is a complete disaster, Stellar Blade becomes PlayStation Publishing's most-played single-player PC port, Capcom and Konami reveal Resident Evil Requiem and Silent Hill Remake respectively, the Outer Worlds 2's $80 price point infuriates some, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is somehow coming to PlayStation 4, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! When Colin talks about a hypothetical AAA Mega Man game, what exactly is he envisioning? Why did Microsoft include the PS5 logo so readily during its showcase?
