It's our 100th episode! And our very special guest this week is Brian Gosselin, who famously had a fascinating encounter with Bigfoot on Abair Road in Whitehall, New York! Located right on the southwestern part of Adirondack Park and the Adirondack Mountains, Whitehall is now famous for its Bigfoot sightings. But it wasn't always so. Brian tells us all about his first-hand account of his Bigfoot encounter in 1976 on Abair Road that put Whitehall on the map and made people rethink what they knew about Bigfoot and its territory. Brian also shares other sasquatch sightings he's investigated in and around the Adirondacks! We also discuss UFOs, road crossings, footprints, the possible paranormal aspects of Bigfoot, hoaxers and fake Bigfoot TV shows, and we even discuss Gettysburg! You don't want to miss this supersized episode with one of my favorite Bigfoot experiencers ever! #bigfoot #adirondacks #whitehall #abairroad Links! Follow us on Social media! When most people think of Bigfoot, they think of the Pacific Northwest, of vast forested land untouched and uncharted by man. It is the west coast where the legend of large hairy humanoids took shape and entered the American Zeitgeist. The Legend of Bigfoot began in northern California on August 27, 1958. A tractor driver named Jerry Crew drove out to a worksite where a large road was being built in the wilderness. When Crew fired up his tractor, he noticed a number of large footprints leading to and from the tractor. It startled the crewman, because these were abnormally large, larger than a human, and they appeared to be made by a naked foot. Since that day, the world has known that a large bipedal hairy humanoid stalks the Pacific Northwest, but there is an area in northern New York where the Bigfoot are also said to roam. Whitehall, New York is the standard definition of a small town, but it gained prominence in the mid 1970s for a series of bigfoot sightings that brought the town national attention. On this week’s episode, we look at the Abair Road Incident. Sources: Bigfoot Encounters in New York & New England by Robert E. Bartholomew & Paul B. Stories of giant stones being tossed at hikers, loud screams that pierce the air and even sightings of something unknown have filled Whitehall, NY locals' lives for generations. In August of 1976 there were sightings of a creature that took place over a two day period which is now called the Abair Road Incident. This creature was described as being between 7 and 8 feet tall, having red glowing eyes, walking like a man, but looking more like a gorilla, and it was reported by multiple witnesses that it made a sound like a pig squealing or a woman screaming.Over a two day period in August 1976, several civilians and multiple police officers witnessed a creature that can only be described as Bigfoot. But some sightings since then have seen a creature with a long and lanky torso and thin gangly arms, which leads many to believe that the Abair Road creature was another paranormal entity, or that there may be more than one type around in the area.Is the area surrounding Whitehall, New York a hotbed for paranormal activity? In August 1976, Police Officer Brian Gosselin had a face-to-face encounter with a Bigfoot-type creature on Abair Road in Whitehall, NY. This event set off a firestorm of publicity, and his encounter became a landmark case that has withstood the test of time. Brian has been featured on MonsterQuest and most recently was the subject of the Small Town Monsters documentary film Beast of Whitehall. Although keeping a low profile, Brian continues to be an avid researcher and has conducted numerous investigations in the Whitehall area and surrounding Adirondack Mountains with some impressive results. He has just released his first book, written by his wife, Sue Gosselin, regarding his encounter and many other pieces of information about that event and ongoing events in the Whitehall area that have not been released before. Brian is dedicated to helping others who have had their own encounters and continues to search for the truth.
Tonight we will be welcoming former police officer Brian Gosselin to the show to discuss his encounter and his new book Abair Road, The True Story. In August 1976, Police Officer Brian Gosselin had a face-to-face encounter with a Bigfoot-type creature on Abair Road in Whitehall, NY. This event set off a firestorm of publicity and has become a landmark case that has withstood the test of time. Brian encountered this creature just 30 feet in front of him, in his spotlight, with his pistol pointed directly at it, but he did not shoot. In “Abair Road, The True Story,” Brian shares the events that took place that night along with a great deal of information that has never been shared before. Check out the book: Abair Road The True Story Will also be welcoming Greg who shares an encounter from his childhood. Our final guest tonight is Christopher Noel. Christopher Noel is a Burlington, Vermont-based Sasquatch researcher. Noel brings to his study an academic tone, and rightly so. For two decades, this Yale philosophy graduate taught at the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Chris writes "We need a radically new approach to Sasquatch research. For much too long, we have stereotyped our next of kin, certain that they must confine themselves only to the most remote wilderness, occasionally sneaking up to campsites just long enough to scare the hell out of us before withdrawing once again to the far corners of the forest. Incorrect. Increasingly, evidence is pointing a different way, toward an intimate proximity between our two species." We will be discussing Chris's new book: Next of Kin Next Door: How to Find Sasquatch a Stone's Throw Away
This week Mark and Seth return from their absence to talk with Brandon Dalo.
