Gashadokuro - Born from the bones of those who died from starvation and left unburied, the Gashadokuro are massive skeletal yokai that tower fifteen to ninety feet tall, hunting humans in the dead of night with an insatiable hunger that can never be satisfied. Their approach is heralded by the sound of rattling bones—gachi gachi gachi—and their victims are crushed, devoured, and sometimes absorbed into the creature's ever-growing skeletal form. freakyfolklore.com #Gashadokuro #JapaneseFolklore #Yokai #FreakyFolklore #JapaneseHorror #StarvingSkeletons #BodyHorror CONTENT WARNING This episode of Freaky Folklore contains disturbing content that may not be suitable for all listeners, including: Extreme body horror and gore Graphic descriptions of cannibalism and consumption Descriptions of mass starvation and death Visceral violence and dismemberment Descriptions of mass graves and historical atrocities Listener discretion is strongly advised. In the first instalment of our Frontier miniseries, we explore one of the most iconic symbols in American history: the Oregon Trail. For decades, thousands of Americans packed their lives into wooden wagons and set out for the West. They crossed sun-scorched plains without shade, climbed mountains without roads, and forded rivers that could turn deadly in an instant. Along the way, many buried loved ones beside the trail and pressed on.What compelled ordinary people to leave everything behind and walk nearly two thousand miles into uncertainty? How much did they truly understand about the dangers ahead? And what was daily life really like - day after exhausting day - on the trail? Our guest today is Stephen Aron, Calvin and Marilyn Gross Director and President & CEO of the Autry Museum of the American West. Stephen is Professor of History, Emeritus at the University of California, Los Angeles. His works include ‘The American West: A Very Short Introduction,' and most recently ‘Peace and Friendship: An Alternative History of the American West.'Edited by Tim Arstall. Convinced that fairies were not mere fables but a hidden nation with laws and lives of their own, Robert Kirk set out to reveal their secrets, and paid a terrible price. How to Master 1031 Exchanges for Hunting Land | 100% Wild Podcast Ep. 463 In the fourth and final podcast of our Cultivating Value series, Matt Drury and Tim Kjellsvik sit down with Joe Dierker, owner of First Harvest Land Exchange, to demystify the most powerful financial tool for landowners: the 1031 Exchange. While Episode One touched on financing, this episode dives deep into the high-stakes world of tax deferral strategies and building long-term wealth through real estate. Joe explains the "make or break" mechanics of using a Qualified Intermediary (QI) to avoid the "constructive receipt" of funds, which can instantly blow up your exchange and trigger a massive tax bill. Whether you are a first-time flipper or looking to secure a "forever farm" legacy, you will learn the critical differences between long-term capital gains, short-term marginal rates, and how the step-up in basis can benefit your heirs. The conversation pulls back the curtain on the rigid timelines that govern these deals, including the 45-day identification window and the 180-day completion deadline. Joe reveals expert tips on the Three-Property Rule, why you must exchange for equal or greater value and equity, and how "mortgage boot" can lead to unexpected tax liabilities. We also tackle complex scenarios like reverse 1031 exchanges, carving out primary residences under Section 121, and navigating the "Ozarks Condo" trap. This series finale provides the ultimate masterclass in financial literacy for the modern hunter and land investor. 00:00:00 – Intro to the podcast 00:04:00 – What is a 1031 Exchange? What does it take to rule as an equal in a man's world? How did a quiet, devout queen help reshape Britain's monarchy forever? All this month, Professor Suzannah Lipscomb is exploring the Restoration monarchs. In this episode, she focuses on Queen Mary II, England's first and only joint sovereign, who ruled alongside her husband William of Orange. Far from being a passive partner, Mary was politically astute, deeply devout, and a formidable cultural influence, playing a pivotal role in forging Britain's constitutional monarchy. Dr Holly Marsden joins Suzannah to examine Mary II's reign and why her story still resonates in the histories of Britain, gender, and political revolution.MORE:William III & the Persecution of SodomitesListen on AppleListen on SpotifyThe Massacre of GlencoeListen on AppleListen on SpotifyPresented by Professor Suzannah Lipscomb.
