Bill Graham and Sid Bernstein were two of the greatest and most important rock music promoters of the 1960s. Bill Graham had two legendary theaters, the Fillmore West in San Francisco and the Fillmore East in New York City. He introduced and cultivated so many of the major stars of the era including Santana, Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Country Joe and the Fish, and the Grateful Dead on the west coast, and Blood Sweat & Tears, the Allman Brothers and The Band on the east coast.Sid Bernstein was the promoter who was responsible for The Beatles performing at Shea Stadium in New York City in 1965. He also brought the Stones, the Kinks, the Moody Blues and Herman's Hermits to America. Without Bill Graham and Sid Bernstein there would not have been rock concerts as we know them today.—-----------------------------------------------------------The Follow Your Dream Podcast:Top 1% of all podcasts with Listeners in 200 countries!Click here for All Episodes Click here for Guest List Click here for Guest Groupings Click here for Guest TestimonialsClick here to Subscribe Click here to receive our Email UpdatesClick here to Rate and Review the podcast—----------------------------------------ROBERT'S LATEST RELEASE:“MA PETITE FLEUR STRING QUARTET” is Robert's latest release. Talking Stones #RTTBROS #NightlightWhen Stones Tell StoriesI drove out past Hollister today and came across the crumbling remains of an old lava rock building standing alone in a winter field. The walls have mostly fallen, the roof is long gone, and frost clings to the dark stones. It's a ruin now, but somebody once built that structure with intention and effort. Somebody had a story there. It made me think of an old question from Scripture. In Joshua 4, after God miraculously stopped the Jordan River so Israel could cross on dry ground, He told them to take twelve stones from the riverbed and set them up as a memorial. Then He said this would happen:"When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones? Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land. For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over... That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever." (Joshua 4:21-24)What mean these stones? It's a question meant to spark remembrance, to keep alive the testimony of God's faithfulness for the next generation. Those lava rock ruins out in that frozen field don't tell me about Israel crossing Jordan, but they do remind me that every believer has stones of remembrance in their own life. Moments when God showed up. Times when He made a way. Seasons when His faithfulness held you together when everything else was falling apart.Don't let those memories crumble into forgotten ruins. Rehearse them. Tell them to your children. Speak them to yourself when doubt creeps in. Let the stones testify: God was faithful then. He is faithful now. He will be faithful tomorrow."Hitherto hath the LORD helped us."(1 Samuel 7:12)Prayer: Lord, help me remember Your faithfulness. Let my life be a testimony to the next generation that You are mighty to save and faithful to keep. Amen.Be sure to Like, Share, Follow and subscribe it helps get the word out.https://linktr.ee/rttbros
...in which we head south over a snowy Dunmail Raise to immerse ourselves in the world of Arts and Crafts at Blackwell. In the company of Niall Hodson, Keeper of Collections at Lakeland Arts, we start our conversation taking a long view over wintry Windermere and the context in which the Arts & Crafts movement emerged – the rise of mass production in the Victorian age. Paying homage to John Ruskin – over the hill in Coniston – we consider the polymath visionary's founding contribution to a movement that encompassed social justice, art and architecture, and the impact of his iconic treatise The Stones of Venice that called for traditional craftsmanship, simplicity and the use of natural materials in everything from furniture to buildings. Entering Blackwell, we are immersed in the movement made real, with immaculately detailed stonework, wood carvings, floor tiles, stained glass and wallpaper showcasing the creative talents of dozens of local craftspeople, all designed into a coherent rural retreat for the wealthy Holt family of Manchester. Wandering through room after enchanting room, we meet two more key figures whose lives are intertwined with the house: William Morris – the revolutionary designer, craftsman, social activist, and founder of Morris & Co – and Blackwell architect Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott, whose extraordinary vision gave rise to one of Lakeland's finest, and most eccentric, houses. In divers quickfire ramblings that take in pubs, breweries and stag do's, we proceed into Blackwell's recent past, and its second life as an evacuees' boarding school, before closing by considering the legacy of one of the country's most important arts movements – as relevant as ever in the age of AI. Blackwell is open from now until 31 March: Monday – Saturday 10am – 4pm, then 1 April – 31 October: Monday to Saturday 10am – 5pm. The house is currently exhibiting 'Frances Priest Motif | Line | Colour' until 11 April, 2026. Explore the ceramic work of celebrated Edinburgh-based artist Frances Priest in an exhibition tracing 25 years of her artistic work. Some stones don't introduce themselves — they choose you first. In this Crystal Library episode, Ashleigh explores dioptase, a rare and electrifying green crystal that stopped her mid-scroll during a live Instagram crystal sale and has held her fascination ever since. With its intense copper-driven color and fragile, elusive nature, dioptase is a stone that feels both powerful and deeply personal. This episode weaves together mineralogy, history, and energetic wisdom as we explore how dioptase is formed in oxidized copper deposits, why it is so rare and expensive, and what makes its green glow feel almost alive. Ashleigh shares why dioptase is often mistaken for emerald—and why, energetically, the two stones work very differently with the heart.Dedicated to Venus, dioptase is a stone of realistic expectations in love. It teaches us not to wait for perfection, not to postpone living for a future moment, and not to expect another person to fix our lives. Instead, dioptase brings us back into the present—reminding us that every day is the special occasion. For advanced practitioners, dioptase is known as a powerful ally for healing deep emotional wounds, clearing karmic patterns from this and previous lifetimes, and releasing karmic debt through compassion—for others and for ourselves. We also touch on dioptase's ancient human history, including its use as a green pigment dating back to the Iron Age at Ain Ghazal in modern-day Jordan—proof that humans have been drawn to this green long before modern metaphysical language existed. This episode is an invitation to reflect on the stones that choose us, the emotions asking to be felt, and the life waiting to be lived—right now.In This EpisodeHow dioptase is formed mineralogicallyWhy its green color is so intense and rareDioptase vs. emerald: heart growth vs. heart truthVenus energy, love, and living in the present momentKarmic healing, compassion, and emotional releaseAncient use of dioptase as pigmentFollow along on Instagram @mystical.mama.ash and @bigcrystalenergypodcastSend me any questions or comments you may have and I will answer them on upcoming podcast episodes!! Blind Hog and Acorn are going to be refencing, and both had the idea of looking into a survey prior to doing any work. Much has been learned about the history of the farm, the only known registered survey (circa 1925), about how witness rocks were placed not at corners exactly, but in the survey line "near" the corners. Much fun trying to find them. They have 2 down, 2 to go...Field fence will be replaced with high tensile grade 3 galvanized 1348-12. An offset hot wire will only be needed to keep the goats from rubbing their sheddy coats on the fence... Little tufts of white down everywhere, but the birds love it.Acorn is down with week 8 of hip surgery recovery- 99% back to normal, but still not going for long walks down the road quite yet.

Rafe got a great Christmas gift: the book "The Stones of the Abbey", by Fernand Pouillon. He's reviewing it for you this week on the Buf.This historical fiction account tells the story of a master building an abbey in Provence in France in the late 1100s. Through dated journal entries, he tells the story of the beginning of the construction of the Abbey of Le Thoronet in southeastern France.Lessons about concerning masonry and framing and quarrying and smithing and all sorts of things associated with building in the middle ages but most of all, this book is a philosophy text, examining Man's role as a creator in his manifestation as Imago Dei.*****As always, you can reach the Buf at bufnagle@bufnagle.com*****As you know, this is an independent podcast so your hosts also carry all the expenses of running this podcast. As such, some of you have asked how you can help out. Well, here's the answer: support us on Buy Me a Coffee:https://buymeacoffee.com/bufnagleOn this page, you can do a really nice thing like send us a couple dollars to help cover the cost of recording and hosting and microphones and research and all that. Any little bit really helps! Thank you in advance!!!

In this episode, I sit down with drummer Paul Stewart for a conversation that starts with how music can connect people across oceans and turns into a deep dive on taste, touch, craft, and the long arc of a career. Paul and I talk about how I first discovered his band The Feeling years ago from a CD a friend handed me after a gig, and how that one listen turned into a long-term appreciation for the songs, the playing, and the production. Paul shares why so many musicians connected with that sound, and how their work pulled from both the 70s world of Supertramp, 10CC, Elton John, and Fleetwood Mac, and the deeper 60s roots that fed that era, like The Beatles, The Stones, The Kinks, and The Zombies. We get into drum sound, why that thuddy, dead 70s tone fits their music so well, and how those choices shaped the identity of the recordings.Paul walks me through his origin story, from being hooked on drum sound as a kid, to getting his first kit at 12, to saying yes to every playing opportunity he could find. He tells an incredible story about a middle school teacher who stayed late after school so Paul could get extra time in the drum room, and we zoom out on how mentors, parents, and supportive educators change the course of a life. From there, we talk about preparation, professionalism, and the responsibility you carry in an ensemble, including how the anxiety of being underprepared can be its own lesson in why doing the work matters. Paul also shares a regret he has about not keeping his reading chops sharper, and why playing along with records became his true north as a drummer. We dig into influences from both sides of Paul's musical world, from rock and early Chili Peppers and Rage Against the Machine, to the cassette tapes an uncle sent that opened the door to jazz, funk, fusion, and players like Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl, and the Tower of Power world. Paul explains how the UK acid jazz scene became a significant pull, and how an acid jazz band at music college eventually evolved into The Feeling. We also talk about what it's like working with major artists outside the band, including how touring logistics can lead to local musicians being hired, and how surreal it can be to play iconic songs with legendary voices while still remembering they're just musicians on stage doing the same job.A meaningful part of our conversation is about performance anxiety, stage fright, and the emotional extremes musicians ride before, during, and after gigs. We talk honestly about confidence, coping, and what it means to choose a healthier path, and we acknowledge that even global superstars can struggle with fear right before walking on stage. Paul and I also reflect on the approaching anniversary of The Feeling's first album, how those songs were originally recorded as a weekend friends project without any expectation of success, and how playing them now carries twenty years of growth, finesse, and perspective while still honoring the original parts that make the songs work. We close with what Paul has been up to recently, including work with Anastacia, Paul Young, The Voice UK, and the broader creative world around the band, and why music remains a powerful source of joy, balance, and hope for people everywhere.Music from the Episode:Never Be Lonely (The Feeling)Everyday and All of the Night (The Feeling)Sun Won't Shine (The Feeling)I Want You Now (The Feeling)Thank you for listening. We hope you are having a very Merry Christmas! Jim and Greg are spending the day with their families, but we're happy to present an encore presentation of a recent special edition of the 3 Martini Lunch!Join Jim and Greg as they dive into stories that didn't quite make the cut for full martinis in recent weeks but still deserve attention. Jim examines the persistent challenges of inflation and America's skyrocketing debt, while Greg highlights a major Trump victory at the United Nations and new signs that one expected 2028 Democrat contender may be bowing out before the race begins. Then they get a little but more on the lighter side for their final martinis.First, Jim notes that while inflation is much more under control than during the Biden administration, it's still stubbornly at or around three percent year-over-year most months and it's still making many Americans sweat. Greg focuses on the Trump administration leading the charge to stop a United Nations carbon emissions tax on shipping. Greg cheers the latest win in blocking the left's green agenda and higher prices for the goods on those ships. Jim adds another critical point that's key in any discussion of the United Nations.Next, Jim shudders as the national debt officially soars beyond the $38 trillion mark and he's especially horrified at how fast the debt is growing. Meanwhile, Greg points out recent comments from Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer suggesting she may not run for president in 2028. That would be good news given Whitmer's terrible record as governor. Finally, Jim explains how the NFL's desire to reach younger fans could soon lead to a significant drop in viewership. Greg wonders if there is any integrity left in competition after another cheating scandal rocks a world championship.New episodes every weekday.
