This episode marks a new chapter in the 25 O'Clock book: our first episode with collaborators, and our first episode of a new format going forward. While Dan is living in Hong Kong, he wanted to keep the show going, and with the help of his friends back in Philadelphia, Paige Walter and John Vettese (you might know them from their day jobs at WXPN), 25 O'Clock continues on with great conversations with artists, and of course, lots of Philadelphia music. And rest assured, Dan is still ever present, introducing the music and artists, bringing in his usual brand of commentary, and continuing to champion the music community. Kristin Daelyn is a singer-songwriter from Philadelphia, and has been captivating audiences with her songs for years. John and Paige sat down with Kristin in Philadelphia to talk about what she thinks of as "seasons" for making music, her sweeping and fluid guitar playing, and how she wants to leave room in each of her songs for the listener to find space in. She's kind enough to grace us with an in-studio performance of one of her songs, "Patience Comes to the Bones". That song and others are on her brand new record, 'Beyond The Break', available on Orindal Records and wherever you get your digital music. She'll be playing a release show on March 14th at Harmonie Hall with Reese Florence and Adeline Hotel, get tickets here, or follow her on her Instagram.
Steven and Ian begin this week's episode with the first ever "Furnace-cast" about the current state of Steven's heating and cooling units at his house. Both were being installed during this episode, which might have resulted in some post-punk-style background noise. What's more indie rock than that? After a quick Sportscast about the latest from Steven's Green Bay Packers and Ian's Philadelphia Eagles, they hold their Fantasy Albums Draft for Q4 (15:22). Will Steven finally win one of these? Probably not! But who knows? Then the guys delve into the mailbag to answer some quality emails. Topics include the sad state of music festivals in 2024 (31:55), the relative quality of music put out in 2014 (41:05), and whether it's possible to have a good song with good music and bad lyrics (yes!) or bad music and good lyrics (maybe?) (50:17).In Recommendation Corner, Ian stumps for a divorce record by Adeline Hotel and Steven goes for the latest from bluegrass phenom Billy Strings (56:40).New episodes of Indiecast drop every Friday. "Adeline Hotel's Dan Knishkowy returns to BTRtoday - we were first introduced to his pensive, sublime indie rock with a fun BTR Hear & There session at Brooklyn venue Baby's Alright, followed by a reinvented live band on BTR Live Studio, and here, Dan returns for a sort of hybrid of the two, performing music from his latest release - the acoustic, mostly instrumental, densely-layered gorgeous album, Good Timing - solo on the streets of the Financial District in Manhattan, before joining us for a conversation about the project's evolution over the years, creating space in music, the process for crafting his latest record, running a record label with friends, and how the next release will be drastically different once again. 00:00 - Sponsor + Intro 01:52 - Adeline Hotel interview 33:47 - "I Have Found It" - Adeline Hotel 36:39 - "Photographic Memory" - Adeline Hotel 39:07 - "Seeing Yourself Seen" - Adeline Hotel 42:43 - Outro 44:05 - End "

We’re still doing it folks, though it’s certainly not easy. Winston becomes both a guest and a host for the first time—with the band Adeline Hotel stopping by the Zoom studio. We meet the band’s new Cetera - 23-year-old Jason Scheff - compare the band to the mid-’90s Bulls, and discuss how impossible it is to feel anything (about Chicago) anymore. Also: important information about Sam’s recent dental issues and Koebner! Andy plays Happy Man! The Stank is deputed! Yeah baby!
We have new music from The Planes, plus session tracks from Adeline Hotel, who are playing at Union Pool in Brooklyn. We also have session tracks from Coco Verde, who are playing a residency at Carmelo’s in Brooklyn and session tracks from Fruit & Flowers, BIRDS, and Max Pain and the Groovies -- all of whom are joining them during the run of dates. 00:00 - // StereoactiveNYC / BTRtoday ID // 00:40 - // Welcome / About The Plane’s ‘Sleep Like A Noble’ // 03:09 - “Caught In The Rain” - The Planes 06:59 - “Spike” - The Planes 11:07 - “Border Wall” - The Planes 14:04 - // Adeline Hotel at Union Pool // 15:41 - “Lightning” (BTR Live Studio, 2018) - Adeline Hotel 18:02 - “Habits” (BTR Live Studio, 2018) - Adeline Hotel 22:27 - “Solid Love” (BTR Live Studio, 2018) - Adeline Hotel 26:46 - // Coco Verde residency // 30:32 - “Marathon” (BTR Live Studio, 2018) - Coco Verde 35:48 - “Glitter” (BTR Live Studio, 2018) - Coco Verde 40:01 - “Tootsie Roll” (BTR Live Studio, 2018) - Coco Verde 43:10 - “Scatter” (BTR Live Studio, 2018) - BIRDS 45:51 - “Fade” (BTR Live Studio, 2018) - BIRDS 49:01 - “Drug Tax” (BTR Live Studio, 2016) - Fruit & Flowers 53:04 - “Out of Touch” (BTR Live Studio, 2016) - Fruit & Flowers 56:13 - “Checkin Out Late” (BTR Live Studio, 2018) - Max Pain and the Groovies 59:51 - “$10 to Testify (BTR Live Studio, 2018) - Max Pain and the Groovies 62:58 - // Outro + Disclaimer // 64:07 - “Somewhere Deep In NYC” - The Unsacred Hearts 67:11 - // End Transmission //
