Sermon preached by Ben Woodward at the Evangelical Christian Church of Dubai on Daniel 3:1-30.
In this chat, we get to meet The Fiery Furnaces. The band first rose to prominence in the 2000s, but after a sort of garage-y debut album, they released a slew of highly experimental, avant-garde, quirky abstract pop and rock epics, putting out numerous records in a short time span. Then they stopped. And while they both have had robust solo careers, the duo - made of brother and sister Matthew and Eleanor Friedberger - have never made another FF record. And while they did give me at least some hope for another one down the line, this conversation focuses mostly on two of their most acclaimed and beloved LPs: Blueberry Boat and Bitter Tea, which celebrates its 20th birthday this year. We talk all about these two records, as well as what was going on before and around them, and also touch on live shows, songwriting, alter egos, and more. It's a good chat with two people whose work I've been a dear fan of for many, many years. Thank you for listening.
Chaz and AJ asked comedian Emily Siero to handle this morning's "On the Board" segment, all about the basic ways you should prepare for a first date. The Tribe called in with guesses and stories about the most ridiculous first date experiences they've had. (0:00) Alicia was on the phone as a holdover caller from the "On the Board," with an insane story covering divorce, Google research, stolen furnaces, and an idea for a dating segment. (14:20) In Dumb Ass News, a body cavity search in Florida turned up not one, not two, but three illegal items. (22:57) Martin Nolan from Julien's Auctions was on the phone with Chaz and AJ to talk about the Ace Frehley "Budokan" guitar selling for more than a half million dollars over the weekend. (27:33)

Hello voices from the bench community, John Wilson here and I wanted to share some news about the evolution of the Programill lineup. Most importantly, Ivoclar's new PrograMill 7. What stands out right away is the reduced air consumption this mill requires, but what you'll notice first is that impressive new touchscreen. For us, the biggest advantage has been increased spindle power. My laboratory's known for these larger cases with complex geometries, and I can tell you that extra power really makes a difference. Next time you see your Ivoclar representative, be sure to ask about the PrograMill 7 and tell them John Wilson sent you. Thank you. At exocad Insights in beautiful Mallorca, we finally caught up with Felix from Imagine USA—and the timing couldn't have been better. As an exocad dealer on the front lines of digital dentistry, Felix shared his excitement about the strong turnout, the familiar faces, and most importantly, the innovation coming from exocad. What stood out most? The new exocad Hub and its cloud-based capabilities, along with powerful AI-driven tools inside DentalDB designed for efficient batch processing. For Felix and the Imagine team, it's not just about seeing what's new—it's about putting it to the test. By running new features through their own production facility first, they ensure real-world performance before bringing solutions to their customers. Beyond the technology, Felix emphasized the value of being there in person—connecting face-to-face with partners, having meaningful conversations, and stepping back to see where the industry is headed. And of course, doing it all in Mallorca doesn't hurt either. "LIVE" again at the 2026 DLAT meeting, two very different conversations came together around one common theme: the future of dental technology is still being shaped by passionate people willing to learn, teach, and adapt. First, the podcast catches up with returning guest Tiffany Prater from Destination Orthodontic Lab, who shares how her lab journey has evolved from running a large commercial space with employees to building a smaller, more personal business focused on private practices and hands-on craftsmanship. Alongside her is Sydney Ribera, a young technician discovering orthodontics through mentorship, creativity, and a fascination with bending wire and pouring colorful acrylic retainers. The conversation dives into the realities of learning ortho in today's digital world, the importance of organizations like the Orthodontic Resource Group, and why mentorship still matters more than ever in a profession where most of the training happens shoulder-to-shoulder. Then the crew sits down with Marlin Gohn from Argen to talk about everything from next-generation zirconia to massive dental labs in China and the surprisingly common mistakes labs make when choosing disc sizes for milling. Marlin breaks down Argen's new gradient translucency zirconia, explains why nesting strategy matters more than most labs realize, and shares real-world troubleshooting tips that can save labs time, money, and remakes. The conversation also wanders through SLM frameworks, milled gold crowns, PFMs, translating lectures in China, and why some old-school techniques still outperform the newest trends. Special Guests: Marlin Gohn CDT, Sydney Ribera, and Tiffany Prater CDT.
Experience the calming warmth of a basement furnace ambiance, perfect for deep sleep, meditation, and relaxation. Let this gentle, soothing sound create a peaceful atmosphere that helps ease insomnia and promotes tranquil rest.

The roof of a 100-year-old farmhouse suddenly collapses under the weight of water. The building was insured under a farm policy that, in this case, only provided coverage for personal property and not the dwelling or real property. The insured claims that the carpet, water heater, and even ceiling tiles are all personal property, and therefore covered! What is a fixture? Notable Timestamps [ 00:00 ] - The episode explores how fixture disputes affect insurance coverage, using a collapsed farmhouse roof scenario where coverage depended on whether damaged items qualified as personal property or part of the dwelling. [ 01:18 ] - The hosts announce the launch of the PACE Program, highlighting it as a new educational resource now available for insurance professionals looking to expand their industry knowledge. [ 03:00 ] - Whether something is a fixture can impact both available coverage and policy limits. [ 06:24 ] - Built-in shelving and ceiling fans are discussed as likely fixtures because they are permanently attached, difficult to move, and generally intended to remain with the property over time. [ 08:06 ] - Portable appliances like air fryers and mini fridges are contrasted with fixtures because owners clearly intend to take them when moving, making them easier to classify as personal property. [ 09:51 ] - Wall-to-wall carpeting illustrates the gray areas in fixture analysis, as courts may examine attachment methods, customization, and whether the carpet could realistically be removed and reused elsewhere. [ 12:22 ] - Furnaces and water heaters seem like obvious fixtures, yet disputes can still arise when tenants claim ownership and argue they intended to remove the equipment when leaving the property. [ 16:52 ] - Decorative ceiling tiles from a 100-year-old farmhouse became the focus of a court case, where the court ultimately ruled they were fixtures because they enhanced the property and were intended to stay with the home. [ 21:31 ] - The closing takeaways emphasize that courts analyze factors like physical attachment, ease of removal, and the parties' intent when determining whether property qualifies as a fixture under insurance policies. Hey Voices from the Bench community! Jessica Love here, sending a shoutout from Utah! If you're passionate about creating natural, beautiful smiles—but want to simplify your workflow without sacrificing aesthetics—this is for you. I'm honored to be part of Ivoclar's development team introducing a powerful new stain and glaze system featuring Structure Paste, IPS e.max Ceram Art. Create stunning depth and lifelike color in as little as one firing. Let's continue to innovate, simplify, and create meaningful change—one smile at a time. CAM has been a major topic lately, and a lot of that conversation keeps coming back to hyperDENT. But instead of just talking about the software itself, it's worth looking at real-world experience. Imagine USA has been using hyperDENT in their own lab for over 15 years. That kind of longevity says a lot—they're not just selling and supporting it, they're relying on it in their own production every single day. That's what really sets them apart. This week, Elvis and Barb sits down with Katherine Steinbock-Dyke of Whip Mix to talk legacy, leadership, and the evolution of a family-run powerhouse in the dental industry. As part of the Steinbock lineage, Katherine shares what it was like growing up around the business—from selling Girl Scout cookies on the shop floor to eventually stepping into the CEO role. Her journey wasn't a straight line, starting instead in international business and corporate HR before finding her way back to Whip Mix and working her way through multiple roles across the company. The conversation dives into the realities of running a multi-generational company in a rapidly changing industry. Katherine talks about balancing tradition with innovation, from gypsum and articulators to digital workflows and resin development. She opens up about the challenges of staying relevant, the importance of continuous improvement (hello, WIN program), and what it really means to lead a team she genuinely cares about. Along the way, there's plenty of classic bench banter—everything from assembling pizzas at Papa John's to the chaos of early 3D printing workflows and navigating massive trade shows like IDS. The episode wraps with a look at where Whip Mix is headed, Katherine's focus on reconnecting with labs and customers, and how the next generation is shaping the future of dental manufacturing while respecting its roots.Special Guest: Katherine Steinbock-Dyke.

Rivers of Steel finally figured out who the Carrie Blast Furnace was named after! In ancient architecture, the cornerstone was the first stone laid, and it had to be the most perfectly cut stone and the strongest stone. Because, you see, what the cornerstone is, the house is. If the dimensions of the cornerstone are off, the house is off. If the cornerstone is true, the house is true. If the cornerstone crumbles in any way, the entire house will be compromised or lost. All of this is the background to when Peter says this about Jesus: “Come to him, to that living Capstone which is the Cornerstone, rejected by men but chosen by God, for it is written, ‘Whoever trusts in him will never be put to shame.'” This metaphor of the cornerstone tells us 1) Jesus is to be our life's foundation, 2) Jesus is our federal head, and 3) Jesus is to be the love of our life. If you don't have a desire for a transformation of character from the inside out, it's because you just haven't faced yourself. There is in all of us a selfishness, a lack of self-control, a dysfunction. And yet God calls us to, “be ye holy.” Being holy does not just mean to keep the rules. Being holy means you are wholly reoriented in your thinking, in your feeling, and in your behavior. It means to be totally changed in mind, heart, and will. To be holy is to wholly belong to God. Let's look at these verses in 1 Peter and ask 1) what does this text tell us a holy person looks like? And 2) how can we want a holy life so that we get it? This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on November 7, 1993. Series: Splendor in the Furnace: 1 Peter, Part 1. Scripture: 1 Peter 1:13-21. To be a holy person is not what people popularly think it is these days. In modern English we often use the word “holy” to mean “holier than thou”—inaccessible, condescending, and self-righteous. Or at best, people will think of a holy person as somebody who keeps all the rules. But holiness is not about keeping all the rules. Holiness is an attitude of the heart in which you look at God and you say, “Use me.” Therefore, to be holy means more than just to give him your mind; you have to give him your life. In 1 Peter 1, there is a contrast shown between a life without God and a holy life. And this contrast shows us a depiction of a holy life. These verses show us that 1) a life without God is ignorant, but a life of holiness integrates the thought and the life, 2) a life without God is an imitative life, but a holy life is an examined life, and 3) a life without God is a life of slavery without authority, but a holy life is a life of freedom under authority.
