On this episode we feature an outstanding back to back by two of the most prolific electronic music producers in Chile: Alejandro Vivanco & Felipe Venegas, the episode is a cut from a live performance at Complot Nights in the beautiful city of Valparaiso, Chile. Alejandro Vivanco (@telepong) >> was born in Viña del Mar, and since his early childhood, he developed an interest in music, as his father used to play tenor sax and owned a huge jazz records collection. At the early age of 7 years, he used to spend many hours in front of the stereo. Later, when he became a teenager, he started playing electric guitar in several school bands, influenced by the music of bands like Sonic Youth, Jesus & Mary chain and Pixies, among others. Meanwhile, around 1996 he started to have an affinity for sound experimentation, that affinity lead him to start developing a close relationship with machines, and conduced him to create his solo project called Telepong, a project that had a strong influence from the sounds of Detroit and Acid House. As he walked the path of electronic music, he got attracted to the emerging Chilean electronic scene and made him take a step ahead to turntables. That pavemented his career as a DJ and in 2001 earned him a residency in “Club La Feria” Chile’s battle horse Club, and where he still plays. In terms of his music style, he define’s it in simple words as "precise rythms with radical sound contrasts and evolving rich grooves.” Felipe Venegas (@felipevenegas) >>> studied classical and theory at the conservatory in Santiago (Chile) and we're awfully glad he did since his scholarly days he's ventured into more electronic realms, retaining a rhythmic, percussive feel that we just love. But as happen most of the time his true musical education took place outside the classroom, in clubs where the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano and Dandy Jack, were creating a new culture of sound. Felipe spent his weeks studying Beethoven, Bach and Ravel, but at the weekends he escaped to the underground electronic music scene, soaking up the spirit of techno, house and acid. Before that, he learned the essential relationship between music and movement from his dancer father, who taught him the timeless rhythms of salsa and rumba. In a very short time, Felipe cemented a reputation as one of Chile’s finest DJs and producers, he is also the guy behind @drumma-records . Chilean star Francisco Allendes joined Jean Bressan a couple weeks back in the Egg London studio to lay down an exclusive mix for us. After 8 years of studying violin and performing with chamber orchestras and folkloric bands, Francisco discovered progressive rock and the sound of the synthesizers at the age of 17. That was his first contact with electronic instruments, which encouraged him to start researching for new sounds and discover electronic music. On 2001, at the age of 20, Francisco starts mixing records on little parties in Santiago and in a short time, helped in a way by the boom of electronic music in Chile, he became part of the professional circle of Chilean djs. Metroline Podcast gets to double figures! It feels like yesterday when we started making these mixes available on line and we already got to number 10. We'll celebrate properly when we get to number 50. Anyway, our guest "selecta" for our latest podcast is Gaetan Le Gargasson aka Guet, one half of french based tech-house duo Room 10. Guet, together with his production partner Hector Pizarro, have released one of Metroline's biggest releases to date, the Caracol EP which included the storming Alejandro Vivanco remix. Caracol EP will soon be followed by Room 10's next release for Metroline Limited. Los Gritos EP is always a couple of weeks away from release date and will include a remix from other hot duo: Horacio. About Guet: In 1995, GueT starts his career as a DJ, mixing hard and dark tunes. Progressively, he goes into new sounds, deeper and more jazzy, playing in many events and working on various musical projects. These last years, he focuses on 3 main collaborations : !nfrajazz, Room 10 and more recently Tree Hand Music. Launched in 2002 in weekly parties, the !nfrajazz project still goes on with the eponymous weekly radio show on ValleeFM where musicians play acoustic parts on GueT's inspired mixes. In 2005, he created with Hector Pizarro, the "Room 10", a duet of musicians with multiple and complementary influences. The two joined forces in the studio to produce some hypnotic and minimal sounds: a first release on Pinksilver’s ‘Expansion EP’, a remix on ‘Impossible objects EP’ , and some releases on Metroline, Toppaz Digital and more… 2008 gives them the opportunity to play live their own sound in Berlin, Barcelona, Amsterdam... His very last project is the creation of a label: " Tree Hand Music" with Charles and Vincent from Solead. The label already released 6 ep (7th very soon) with remixes from Mike Wall, Sebastian Herre, Dualism or Shadi Megallaa, Ekkohaus, Yakine, Marcus Vector, The Coffee Boy, Hector Pizarro, El Farouki...
