Lost In was originally a series of mixes I produced after travelling to different places in the world. The mixes were to reflect the influences, feeling or emotions I felt whilst in a particular country. Lost in then became a weekly session during lockdown where I played marathon sets to help our collect mental health and become one through music. I'm bringing the original spirit back with Lost In Peru. Peru revealed itself in layers—modern, ancient, wild, sacred. Each place felt like a different country entirely, and yet the warmth and pride of the Peruvian people carried through it all. Despite the language barrier, we were helped, welcomed, and looked after at every turn. From misty mountains and ancient ruins to the tangled, living walls of the Amazon and the sprawling capital city—this trip was a true adventure. It stretched us, surprised us, and left us with stories we'll be telling for a long time.Peru, has a piece of my heart and this is the progressive daily meditation I listened to whilst in the mountains and amazon rainforest.Hope you enjoy.

Send us a textIn part two of our conversation, Ian St. Paul shares his remarkable journey through some of the most influential moments in dance music history. Beginning with his first trip to Ibiza in 1984, Ian recounts how what started as a holiday transformed into a life-changing adventure that would shape club culture for decades to come. The conversation traces Ian's evolution from running bars in Ibiza to becoming a pivotal figure in London's acid house scene, where he founded legendary clubs like Future, Spectrum, and Land of Oz. Ian provides an insider's perspective on the emergence of ecstasy culture, the development of the Balearic sound, and how he helped bring these experiences back to the UK, kickstarting the acid house movement. Beyond the acid house era, Ian discusses his ventures into trance music with Dragonfly Records and TIP, his seven years in Japan building the scene there, and later adventures in Goa, Nepal, and back to Ibiza. Throughout the episode, Ian offers candid insights about the personalities, music, and cultural shifts that defined these revolutionary moments in dance music history, providing a rare first-hand account from someone who was not only present but instrumental in creating these movements.Support the showhttps://www.youtube.com/@ControlledWeirdnesshttps://open.spotify.com/artist/20nC7cQni8ZrvRC2REZjOIhttps://www.instagram.com/controlledweirdness/https://controlledweirdness.bandcamp.com/Theme song is Controlled Weirdness - Drifting in the Streetshttps://open.spotify.com/track/7GJfmYy4RjMyLIg9nffuktHosted from a South London tower block by Neil Keating aka Controlled Weirdness. It's a genre of techno isn't it? A general sort of vibe? Maybe even a music trend that has saved techno as a whole from the encroachment of the execrable nonsense that really shouldn't be included in the genre in the first place?Well actually Hardgroove is really just Ben Sims techno. It's a term that he coined in the mid 90s and the name of a label he's been running since not too long after that. But it's also become a kind of shorthand for a wave in the music whose renewed popularity in recent years has been a something of a lifeline for a corner of the scene that had got itself into a very bad spot indeed. So we talk about all that in this episode, as well as what it's like to be one of the biggest techno DJs on the planet, as well as his journey from being fascinated by early hip hop, through Acid House and onto the global techno circuit that he's inhabited for a good few decades now. Episode 53: Screamadelica (Primal Scream). McCartney In Goal is the podcast that debates the great albums of pop music, using a competitive knock-out format. Today we're discussing, Screamadelica which was the third studio album by Scottish rock/indie band Primal Scream. It was first released on 23 September 1991 in the United Kingdom. The album includes "Loaded", "Movin' On Up", "Come Together" and "Higher Than The Sun".How did a remix transform a rock band into dance music pioneers? In our latest episode, we embark on a spirited journey through Primal Scream's iconic album "Screamadelica." Set against the backdrop of September 1991—a month that birthed Nirvana's "Nevermind" and the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Blood Sugar Sex Magik"—we reminisce about our teenage years and debate which album truly defined the era. With a playful quiz on the band's roots, we explore their ties with figures like Bobby Gillespie and Alan McGee, and the influence of the UK indie and Acid House scenes, all peppered with tales of our adolescent awkwardness. Our discussion takes a lively turn as we dissect the album's eclectic nature, bouncing between gospel-infused anthems and psychedelic dance tracks. We engage in a humorous yet passionate debate over whether "Screamadelica" should be considered a concept album, reminiscent of a journey through a weekend's highs and lows. We even engage in a cheeky saxophone solo showdown, diving into differing tastes in jazz and musical complexity, while reflecting on the transformative power of tracks like "Moving On Up" and "Slip Inside This House."No conversation about "Screamadelica" would be complete without celebrating the profound impact of Andy Weatherall. We dive into his pivotal role in reshaping the band's sound with remixes like "Loaded," and ponder how his collaboration with Bobby Gillespie and Andrew Innes forged a legacy that won the 1992 Mercury Prize. Whether you're a longtime fan or a curious newcomer, our exploration promises not just entertainment but a deep appreciation for an album that remains a defining piece of '90s musical history.Support the showTwitter - https://twitter.com/mccartneyinWebsite - https://mccartneyingoal.com/

This author holds the title for having written the most shoplifted novel in British publishing history. Meet Irvine Welsh, the author of the critically acclaimed novel “Trainspotting”. Famous for his harrowing depictions of heroin addicts and imbuing them with humanity, it may be no surprise that Welsh had a similar tract in life to his characters with a troubled childhood– one that caused him to move constantly throughout different places, having difficulty feeling permanent security and a sense of belonging wherever he went. But thinking back to his childhood hometown, Welsh dwelled on the high drug usage and HIV rates which left Leith in decline and wrote his first novel as a thoughtful (and sobering) response. The book was an instant success, earning a cult following with those who recognized the harshness as a part of life while incurring mixed reactions from critics who did not. Despite the polarized reviews, Irvine has continued to write with ferocity since his first publication: publishing books, movies, and short story collections such as The Acid House, Filth, Porno, Glue, Skagboys, etc to shed light on the underrepresented side of fictional literature– the one most people are afraid to tell.
