In what is fast becoming a tradition, the podcast is back with an all new episode and an all new Quarantine Happy Hour. This week, Cory sits down with Anna Louizos, Wilson Chin, Alejo Vietti, Isabella Byrd, Clint Ramos, Tyler Micoleau and in1 all star Jen Schriever! The gang checks in on each other and everyone discusses routine vs not routine, watching the news vs turning it off, how everyone is eating, cooking, working out and passing time and what they miss the most being stuck at home. There's a report back from the large United Scenic Artist Wingspace Salon this week, some good news about union dues and healthcare payments, and the group discusses when we might get back to work, what the world of regional theatre might look like post Covid-19, what kind of shows writers will be creating, how art has typically responded to mass world events in history, and whether we've seen the end of shaking hands and (gasp!) the double cheek kiss. You've got nothing better to do so grab a glass and join the happy hour!
Jeff Perri (Ad Operations Manager) and Lisa Lewis (Creative Director) host three-time Tony nominee Anna Louizos and three-time Tony winner Scott Pask to discuss the relationship between’s a show’s scenic design and graphic design. Peek into the processes that brought shows like The Pillowman, In The Heights, and Avenue Q to life, both on stage and off! http://www.annalouizos.com/ @annalouizos http://scottpaskstudio.com @scottpaskstudio
Merry Christmas! Who needs another pair of socks?! Your favorite gift this year is going to be our brand new episode with Scenic Designer Anna Louizos! Anna has designed some of the most exciting sets on Broadway in recent years and she's here to talk about all of them. Cory and Anna cover her wild ride from landing the "School of Rock" gig (and how she ended up designing the costumes too!), to her iconic set for "In The Heights", to the beautifully hand painted drops of "Edwin Drood", to her head-first dive into Projection Design in "Honeymoon in Vegas", to her gone-too-soo design for "High Fidelity." She talks about what she learned as an Associate, how she runs her studio, why we need better ways to share and capture our work, and how running a restaurant prepared her for her current profession. And if that's not enough, Anna tells us about the Broadway Design Exchange and how YOU too can own a little piece of the Broadway design experience. Pour some eggnog, gather the family and enjoy this episode by the fire!
This week's guest is scenic designer and delightful gentleman Michael Carnahan. Michael and Cory discuss his many years of Associate work with designers such as Anna Louizos, Donyale Werle and the great Desmond Heeley, as well as his own design career, including a long-standing standing collaboration with Ruben Santiago-Hudson and the plays of August Wilson. He discusses the realities and economics of recycled and sustainable scenic materials, why model building is such an important part of his process, and how he may have spent time as a Sinatra groupie. AND Michael and Cory geek out over their love for the design of 'Rocky' and how it redefines what can be done on a stage.

Mercier ("Juan Darien"), and Costume Designer Catherine Zuber ("Dinner At Eight") discuss how designing on a restricted budget can force a designer to find a more creative solution; spectacle on Broadway - is it expected and how it does or does not affect ticket prices; the necessity today for a designer to juggle multiple projects and the joy and heartbreak of working in an ephemeral art form.
