Episode OverviewIn this Central PA Fishing Report on The Articulate Fly fly fishing podcast, host Marvin Cash checks in with George Costa of TCO Fly Shop in State College, Pennsylvania for a late-winter conditions update. George covers current water levels and clarity across several iconic Centre County streams — including the Juniata River, Spring Creek, Fishing Creek and Penns Creek — as heavy snowmelt pushes flows up and drops visibility. Despite the off-color, elevated conditions, George is optimistic: a few Blue-Winged Olives have already been spotted, nymphing has been consistent and a full late-winter/early-spring insect emergence looks imminent in the next two to three weeks. Anglers planning trips to Central PA trout water should temp the streams before wading — air temps in the mid-40s can be deceiving when snowmelt is actively cold-charging the system. The conversation also covers TCO's upcoming presence at the Lancaster Fly Fishing Show, a packed class schedule across all shop locations through early spring and a first look at the new Grundéns Rock Armor wading boots, which TCO is among the first retailers to stock before they're even live on the Grundéns website.Key TakeawaysHow to set expectations for Central PA streams in late winter when heavy snowmelt is elevating flows and dropping clarity across multiple watersheds. Why water temperature can be unusually cold even when air temps feel mild, and why checking water temp before wading is essential during active snowmelt events. When to plan your Central PA dry fly trips: George signals the Blue-Winged Olive hatch is weeks away from breaking wide open. How to use the pre-season window productively by attending TCO's late-winter fly fishing classes across their Pennsylvania shop locations. Why the new Grundéns Rock Armor boots are worth watching, with TCO among the earliest retailers to have them in stock.Techniques & Gear CoveredNymphing is the dominant tactic for Central PA trout during the current late-winter/snowmelt window, with George noting it has been consistent despite not yet reaching its seasonal peak. The conversation anticipates a shift toward dry fly fishing as water temperatures rise and the Blue-Winged Olive hatch accelerates over the next few weeks — a classic late-winter to early-spring transition for Pennsylvania limestone streams. On the gear side, the notable mention is the new Grundéns Rock Armor wading boots, which TCO Fly Shop in State College is stocking ahead of the general retail release; no other specific rod, reel or fly patterns were discussed in this report segment.Locations & SpeciesThis episode focuses entirely on Central Pennsylvania limestone and freestone trout streams in late winter. The primary waters discussed are the Juniata River (elevated and off-color from snowmelt), Spring Creek, Fishing Creek and Penns Creek — all experiencing increased flows and reduced clarity as the snowpack drains into the watershed. Target species are wild brown trout and rainbow trout, consistent with the Central PA catch-and-release freestone and limestone spring creek fisheries. Conditions reflect a classic late-February snowmelt transition: still cold, flows running above seasonal averages, but with early insect activity signaling the imminent arrival of prime spring fishing.FAQ / Key Questions...

Kimiko Glenn brings a mix of honesty, humor, and delightful chaos to this conversation, opening up about the vulnerable journey behind her new single Hang Out Forever and why the music video takes such a hilariously dark turn. She talks about songwriting as her personal diary, how she finally found the courage to share it publicly, and why creative control feels like oxygen after years of being the “vessel” for other people's visions. We dig into the surprising things that make her the most self-conscious, the unexpected fears that shaped her early career, and why being an “impatient cheerleader” might be her truest personality trait. She also speaks candidly about the realities behind the fame surge during Orange Is the New Black, including the overwhelming moments she endured in public and the long path toward reclaiming safety and boundaries. Kimiko shares the story of developing panic disorder during Waitress, how she learned to manage anxiety in different performance environments, and the tools she's built to protect her joy. We also get into identity, community, vulnerability, the pressure to perform online, and what she hopes her upcoming music — including the acoustic version of Hang Out Forever — will reveal about her. Kimiko Glenn is an actor, singer, songwriter, and multi-hyphenate creator whose work spans Broadway, television, film, animation, and music. She originated roles in Waitress and the National Tour of Spring Awakening, earned global recognition as Soso in Orange Is the New Black, and became one of the most distinctive voices in animation with roles in Hazbin Hotel, Kiff, Centaurworld, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, DuckTales, My Little Pony, and more. Her latest artistic chapter focuses on original music, beginning with her single Hang Out Forever and a forthcoming EP that blends emotional storytelling with sharp comedic edge. Chris visited SNAP! Productions during their rehearsals and spoke to three of the actors from their upcoming musical "Spring Awakening." We spoke to Jamie Orton who plays Wendla, Jaden Nguyen, Melchior, and Peyton Casey, who plays Moritz. This play was originally written back in 1891 in Germany by Frank Wedekind. It has been a controversial drama about the consequences of sexual and religious repression on teenagers during that time - yet it is still relevant today. It has been adapted throughout the years to make it more contemporary, most recently adding rock music to it (Book and Lyrics by Steven Sater and rock music by Duncan Sheik). "Spring Awakening" opens November 7th and runs until the 23rd. Industry Night - Pay What You Can will be November 10th. SNAP! We're heading to Manchester to celebrate a remarkable milestone. It's been ten years since the Hope Mill Theatre first opened its doors, transforming a former textile mill into one of the country's most respected independent producing houses. With just over 145 seats, it's an intimate space that's punched well above its weight — staging acclaimed revivals and brand-new work alike, and helping to launch careers both on and off stage. Its productions have included the award-winning Spring Awakening, Rent, Mame, and, later this month, the team are bringing Young Frankenstein to the Hope Mill stage. And looking ahead to 2026, they're taking on their biggest project yet with High School Musical at The Lowry. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

As the world around us bursts into bloom, have you ever felt an internal surge—a restless energy urging you to move, create, and grow? That's not just Spring fever; it's your Liver Qi awakening! In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Spring is the season of the Liver—the organ that governs the smooth flow of energy, emotions, and our vision. Just like the wind propels a sailboat, our Liver energy needs the right balance to steer us forward. Too much, and we might feel overwhelmed; too little, and we stagnate. Today on I Love Me The Podcast, we're diving deep into understanding how to care for your Liver this Spring, recognising signs of imbalance, and embracing practices that align you with the season's vibrant energy. Take a peek at the full episode show notes (and resources I refer to in the show) here: https://gettingnaked.com.au/2025/08/27/ep-67-spring-awakening-boost-energy-balance-your-liver-naturally/ About me… My name is Tamra Mercieca and I've been studying and teaching self-love worldwide for 20+ years now. In 2011 I launched my online school Getting Naked where I offer programs to help people strip off the stories and childhood conditioning, so they can fall in love with themselves. While I go by many labels - mumma, wife, tea lover, drummer - professionally I'm known as a Self-Love Therapist, Writer and Women's Pelvic Health Guide, qualified in over a dozen physical and mental health modalities. I'm the author of two books, have been published in dozens of print and online publications, appeared on TV many times, and love to share the teachings of self-love at yoga and spirituality festivals. Personally, my journey began when I worked out how to overcome suicidal depression and anxiety (and get off my meds). I then went on to create a ten-session program where I now help others do the same. Episode #348: The Spring Revolution in Myanmar represents a continuation of long-standing struggles for a legitimate political order, according to Charlie Thame, Assistant Professor of International Relations at Thammasat University. Thame describes this uprising as a "redemptive revolution," striving to fulfill the promises of past movements like the 1988 Uprising and the Saffron Revolution. The current revolution aims for popular sovereignty and inclusion, seeking rights for marginalized ethnic groups within a federal democratic state. Thame emphasizes that the grassroots nature of this uprising distinguishes it from past "passive" revolutions that failed to reflect the people's will. The current movement seeks not merely power-sharing but the full dismantling of military dominance. He critiques the international community for legitimizing Myanmar's military despite popular opposition, and he advocates for a redefinition of ‘sovereignty,' one that is rooted in the people's will, much like struggles seen during the era of decolonization. Addressing the issue of revolutionary violence, Thame argues that while non-violence is preferable, it has proven ineffective as a singular strategy against Myanmar's military, which uses brutal force indiscriminately. Thame is critical of the hypocrisy of outside actors who decry revolutionary violence while supporting oppressive regimes, and he calls out the Western community's “both sides” rhetoric that ignores power asymmetries. "The revolution doesn't end with the military being defeated," Thame says, addressing the broader aspirations that he hopes can be achieved. "The revolution would only end with the sort of realization of the aspirations that drove it originally: those aspirations, not just for a new constitution, but for fundamentally more equal society and overcoming those social, ethnic, religious, generational class cleavages. And I just hope, with all my power, that that is something that can be followed through on because once the military starts collapsing, as I believe it will."

I'm super happy to have the delightful couple Jackie Berkley and Zach Schmidt of Golden Everything on the show this week!! Both lovely humans and talented artists with separate paths, Zach and Jackie recently formed an amazing alt-country super-duo, and are celebrating their successful debut album together, Sweet Old World, an absolute gorgeous take on folk, country and Americana vibes. I discuss with Zack and Jackie about how their choices have lead to a healthy outlook in what can be a crazy and difficult world we call the music business. With a new album and a new baby at home, this dynamic couple is making it all happen by building a strong and organic team from the ground up. It's admirable and inspiring.Making their combination even more intriguing, Zach is a long-time stalwart on the Nashville music scene. He has two solo albums to his name and his most recent 2021 effort, Raise A Banner, is produced by Sadler Vaden and features The 400 Unit as his stellar backing band. Zach and Jackie's origin story is a meet-cute for the ages, and Zach's story of becoming a songwriter is truly legendary. We all go deep in this fun and engaging conversation, and I can't wait to share this one with all of you!!Show Notes:For more information on Golden Everything and Zack Schmidt as well as tour dates click HERE:Episode Chapters:00:00 – Episode Intro with Host Josh Rosenberg 04:36 – Spring Awakening and New Beginnings07:36 – Performing at Newport Folk Festival 10:38 – Family Life and New Arrivals 13:31 – Musical Backgrounds and Influences 16:48 – The Journey to Nashville 19:36 – Biking Across America and Songwriting 24:40 – The Journey of a Lifetime 26:38 – The Impact of Music on Life 29:36 – Inspiration from Real-Life Stories 32:48 – Finding Community in Nashville 33:38 – The Magic of Santa's Pub 39:35 – Collaborations and Musical Connections 44:40 – Creating Music Under Pressure 49:09 – The Journey to Collaboration 52:29 – Navigating Parenthood and Music 56:11 – Health Challenges and Resilience 59:29 – Plans for the Future 01:04:36 – The DIY Approach to Music 01:06:37 – Songwriting Through Parenthood01:09:50 – Episode Outro with Host Josh RosenbergFor more information on Roadcase:https://linktr.ee/roadcasepod and https://www.roadcasepod.comOr contact Roadcase by email: info@roadcasepod.comRoadcase theme music: "Eugene (Instrumental)" by Waltzer

Vanessa Magula went from being a Hamilton superfan studying pre-health at UCLA to being cast as the standby for all three Schuyler sisters on the Philip tour. No, for real. Vanessa has always been a self-described theatre kid, evidenced by the fact that Deaf West's Spring Awakening is what inspired her to minor in Disability Studies, but it took her a while to take the leap and be a full time performer. After going to an open call for Hamilton in 2016 and being given a literal golden ticket for a callback, everything changed as Vanessa realized that - whether she booked Hamilton or not - this is what she wanted to do. Ali Stroker is a trailblazing actor and advocate who joined the Little Kids, Big Hearts podcast as a guest Qook-a-lacka on our episode focused on inclusion. Today, Ali is back — out of character, as her amazing self — to talk with LKBH Host Todd Loyd about her own experiences with disability and inclusion. ❤️ She reflects on what Scarlett and Zach said on the episode: "When I hear Scarlett talking about horseback riding: It felt like she was explaining something that was so normal. And that, to me, is progress."❤️ She shares her own personal motto — Turning Limitations into Opportunities: "It can apply to somebody with a disability or not because as human beings, we have limitations. It's part of existing in the world." ❤️ She talks about being a mom with a disability — and how being a mom in a wheelchair affects her parenting and her son's independence. ❤️ She talks about the power of "inclusive playgrounds." "I never had one inclusive playground growing up, and to this day, I still go to the playground and I have this like funny feeling in my stomach because it was a place of confusion and shame and frustration for me as a child ... Every kid deserves that freedom and that ability to play in an outdoor space with their friends."❤️ She talks about a moment when she was in 1st grade and her PE teachers included her in a lesson on "how to skip," which changed her life. "Thirty-one years later, I still remember it because it felt like I was included and someone had taken a little bit of time to get creative and make me feel like I was learning a new school too, and that I could be a part of the group in moving...And that meant everything to me, everything!" ❤️ She talked about her children's book "Ali and the Sea Stars," which was based on her own experience as a six year old being introduced to musical theater by her neighbor on the Jersey Shore. "It basically set my entire life journey of becoming a musical theater and actress and everything that I do now." ❤️ She shares advice for kids with disabilities who want to try something new that hasn't been done before. Ali Stroker is a Tony Award winner for her role as ‘Ado Annie' in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! She made history as the first actor in a wheelchair to appear on Broadway in Deaf West's acclaimed revival of Spring Awakening and the first actor in a wheelchair to win a Tony. She was a series regular on the Netflix series, Echoes, and starred in the Lifetime holiday film, Christmas Ever After. Ali recurred in the final season of Netflix's Ozark and in Hulu's Only Murders in the Building. She co-wrote the novel, The Chance to Fly and its sequel, Cut Loose!; and she wrote the children's book, Ali and the Sea Stars. She was recently seen opposite Matthew Broderick in Babbitt at Shakespeare Theatre Company in DC and played 'Lady Anne' in the Shakespeare in the Park production of Richard III. She's performed her one woman show all over the country. Her mission to improve the lives of others through the arts is captured in her motto: “Turning Your Limitations Into Your Opportunities.”Learn more on our episode webpage: https://playsparkler.org/inclusion/Watch on our Youtube page: https://www.youtube.com/@LittleKidsBigHearts

On this kidventure episode, two kids — Scarlett and Zach — talk about their disabilities and share their experiences with inclusion (on inclusive playgrounds and in other contexts). As Scarlett explains, inclusion "means that everybody can play, no matter your disability or how you walk or how you roll or anything like that."After a chat on Earth, the kids and Todd travel on the colors of the rainbow to the Land of Qook-a-lackas, where they meet a Qook-a-lacka friend, Quinnly, who is trying to figure out how the Qook-a-lackas and their new neighbors, the Link-a-doos, can play TOGETHER. The Qook-a-lacka's favorite sport, Quibble, is played on the ground with a big ball — while the Link-a-doos' favorite sport, Loop-a-launch, is played in the sky with a little bouncy ball. The kids and Todd help Quinnly to brainstorm a whole new game (Quibble Launch!), which has special rules and a two tier playing field that is perfect for the new neighbors to play together!Little Kids, Big Hearts was THRILLED to be joined on this episode by guest star Ali Stroker, who plays the role of Quinnly.
