The Inner Loop Radio: A Creative Writing Podcast

Listen as three writer-friends get real weird, but also talk about the tangible and intangible benefits of having friends who are writers. Rachel Coonce, Courtney Sexton, and Daniel Knowlton discuss the value of being connected to a literary community, but not without a lot of laughing... and some potty jokes. Plus, we trace writing communities back through the centuries and uncover some of the lesser-known writerly enclaves.

The Inner Loop Radio: A Creative Writing Podcast

Just in time for the holidays, Rachel and Courtney discuss home. How do we write about home? What are some ways to convey the essence of home? What writing tools can we use to use home as setting, a catalyst, or its own character? Courtney introduces us to her dog Remy, and Rachel offers up a symphony of sound. Plus we hear from DC writers Nadia Prupis, Daniel Knowlton, Nicole Tong, and Garrett Schlichte.

The really interesting thing about storytelling on online story platforms such as Instagram and Snapchat lies in the real and authentic human connection that these platforms thrive on. The challenge though in business is to learn how to embrace the art of storytelling in a natural and authentic way to make these stories a part of our daily brand outreach and in doing so build real influence online and in your target market. Today I’m chatting to Daniel Knowlton from KPS Digital Marketing. Daniel was named number 12 most influential digital marketer on Twitter in the world in 2016. He’s a contributing writer for the Social Media Examiner, Content Marketing Institute and other prestigious online publications. If you follow Daniel on Instagram and Snapchat, you'll see instantly that he lives and breathes the things we talk about. Daniel studied a business management degree and went into the corporate world. But decided that this wasn’t the life for him, so quit his job and went travelling in Thailand. Whilst he was there, he began to read and learn all about digital marketing. He then applied these learnings to his own personal brand and realised that he could start a business and show other businesses how to successfully implement these strategies. Support this podcast

I met the Gay Nineties in their east Vancouver practice space. It was a bring your own cup and growler party and after a few beers things quickly got crazy and hilarious. Vancouver's favorite rock 'n' rollers Gay Nineties began as three good friends Parker Bossley (vocals/lead), Daniel Knowlton (bass/vocals) and Malcolm Holt (drums). They released the EP Coming Together in 2011, but felt they had achieved their full potential as a three piece, so they added Bruce Ledingham (keys) and eventually released a new EP Liberal Guilt in 2015. After a few beers we discuss: becoming blood brothers, Prince's tambourine, being asked if they are gay all the time, adding a wrestler to the band, getting inspired by Link Ray "Rumble" (an instrumental piece banned from radio in the 60's for being too erotic), why it took so long in between EPs, Paul McCartney's WINGS, and more. Listen to our crazy chat. Tracks played on the show... 1) Gay Nineties, Liberal Guilt EP (2015) "Letterman" 2) Gay Nineties, Liberal Guilt EP (2015) "Hold Your Fire" 3) Gay Nineties, Coming Together EP (2011) "Love Sick" 4) Gay Nineties, Liberal Guilt EP (2015) "Tangled" ALL songs CANCON
