Everything comes to he who waits... That was the case for Brandon Austin who, after spending the best part of 17 years at Totttenham Hotspur, was finally granted his first team debut at the weekend. The soon-to-be 26-year-old acquitted himself well in the defeat to Newcastle, earning the Man of the Match award on TNT Sports and giving Ange Postecoglou something to think about ahead of Wednesday's Carabao Cup clash with Liverpool. Elsewhere, Matz Sels is perhaps the surprise package of the season in the Premier League. The Belgian leads the way for top-flight clean sheets following his blank in Nottingham Forest's 3-0 win over Wolves. In the EFL, Illan Meslier is feeling the heat at Leeds, Joe Whitworth provided an assist in Exeter's defeat to Bolton and Ben Amos returned to league action for the first time since April 2023.

After much consultation, it was decided to record this week's Between the Sticks before the second round of Easter EFL fixtures. Reasons being threefold: 1) Aaron Ramsdale pulled off that performance against Liverpool and it couldn't wait another two days to talk about. 2) Ivan Toney saw a penalty saved by Nick Pope after Rich claimed in last week's show that the Brentford man would never not score another penalty (and it couldn't wait another two days to talk about). 3) Rich was genuinely recognised at the airport (and that definitely couldn't wait another two days to talk about). So here we are with a bunch of brilliant goalkeeping action to cover from Friday through Sunday. Jordan Pickford kept the score down with nine saves at Old Trafford, Ben Amos joined him for Performance of the Weekend with a series of stops in Wigan's defeat to Sheffield United and Walsall's Owen Evans can consider himself extremely unlucky at conceding a fourth goal that categorically never was against Rochdale.

This might be a little controversial but hear me out. I believe that in 2023 for certain businesses LESS professional video could actually do way MORE for your business. What I'm going to discuss in today's episode came from a suggestion from listener Kathryn - @aguideto_socialmedia who has been struggling to convince her clients of the value of lower production value DIY videos as part of their strategy. Now, don't get me wrong. There is absolutely a critical place in an effective full funnel video strategy for professional video production. Just as you wouldn't try to sign write your own car, print your own business cards or sew your own staff uniforms, allocating a percentage of your marketing budget each year to professional video content is a must. However, for so many businesses there is so much untapped VALUE to be gained by embracing DIY video content across an organisation. And I feel this trend is only going to continue...If you found this episode of value I'd love for you to reach out and let me know on Instagram @engage_ben or email podcast@engagevideomarketing.comBen Amos LinkedInBen Amos InstagramBen Amos TwitterRate the Engage Video Marketing Podcast on iTunesMentioned in this episode:Join the Video Strategists MasterclassGet started on your journey as a confident Video Strategist in my Video Strategists Masterclass. One of the most deflating and frustrating things about creating video content is when it simply fails to get seen by the right audience, and it ends up feeling like wasted time, resources and probably money. The importance of getting video optimisation right simply can't be ignored, and in this episode we're going to explore the bane of many creators' existence - the algorithms. In this episode, we're going to explore the ins and outs of the first part of video optimisation which is Audience Optimisation and then in part two we'll dive-in to the second, Algorithm Optimisation. Importantly, as you'll discover as we go through this over these two episodes, each type of optimisation works with the other, and we need to consider both to ensure our video content is set up for success online. No matter what stage you are at right now, getting super clear on what your business is and who you want to serve is a critical foundation for business planning and ultimately success. And, as a Video Strategist, our role for our clients is often to help them gain this clarity too. And it all starts with a hedgehog. Recently in my Accredited Video Strategist Program, we've been working a lot on gaining clarity on audiences and particularly positioning our Video Strategy businesses in the right way for the right types of clients, and it's really interesting to me how we all have different views on the type of business we're aiming to build and who we are wanting to work with. But let me tell you, the clarity, and growth from that clarity that is coming out through the program over the last few weeks has been seriously awesome to see. So in this episode, I'm going to share with you an approach you can take to getting super clear what your business is all about, and in particular what type of clients and projects you will want to attract to work with you. Have you ever found yourself sucked in by Watchbait on facebook? Wait, what? What is watchbait anyway? It sure sounds dodgy, and if so, what is Facebook or Meta doing about it? A few weeks back Meta announced a crackdown on these tactics, and although it's about time, I'm not exactly sure that they are going to be able to get on top of it. And in this episode I'll explain why.
We all want the videos we produce to actually get results for our clients right? Well I know, and I think you do too, that one of the most frustrating things as a video producer is when we hand over a video we're super proud of, the client is happy but then…nothing. We have no idea how it went, or what results it led to for the business? In this episode let's talk about measuring video success, even when you can't see the data. DubaiHot WorkRecuperationRevitalisationInternationalsRep IrelandNorthern IrelandJosh Magennis - James McClean - Will KeanePWU Player of the Season LaunchFans CompilationPanel CitationSo who is your choice as Wigan Athletic player if the 2022 season? Personally I feel that this season is one of the most difficult that there has been to single out just one player, such has been the level of consistency across the whole of the squad. There is also the question of what criteria to use to help you make that choice. Some people argue that goals win you games and look to the leading goal scorers from the squad, but there are also players who score the big goals, the ones that win you games, think Curtis Tilt at Fleetwood, James McClean at Oxford, Callum Lang at Plymouth, Stevie Humphrys at Morecambe and of course Will Keane at home to Rotherham. Others look to the defence, ‘success is built from the back' is a term often used in football and we have had some excellent performances across the back line this season, Jack Whatmough an obvious contender, Ben Amos with thirteen clean sheets in the league so far this campaign is another. Max Power with his assists, Tom Naylor here, there and everywhere, James McClean with his heart on his sleeve, Tendayi Darikwa leading on and off the pitch, Kell Watts, Jason Kerr, Tom Bayliss, Gwion Edwards, Gavin Massey, Tom Pearce and Josh Magennis have all contributed to top performances and great wins. Our man of the match polls throughout the season have had 21 different winners, again showing the level of consistency across the whole squad, below is a list of the players who have picked up the accolade.Man of The Match Winners 2021/22Callum Lang, Scott Smith, Gwion Edwards, James McClean, Max Power, Charlie Wyke, Kell Watts, Sam Tickle, Tom Naylor, Will Keane, Tom Bayliss, Baba Adeeko, Jason Kerr, Thelo Aasgaard, Jack Whatmough, Curtis Tilt, Gavin Massey, Ben Amos, James Carragher, Stevie Humphrys and Graeme ShinnieTop Three:Lang 6Power 5Naylor 4 So whatever criteria you use, goals, defending, consistency, match winners, personality, get you off your seat moments, leadership or a combination of those, consider, choose and vote via the dedicated email address.
