By popular demand, we are back with more Konflikt '47 content. Tim and I unpack more thoughts about listing and gameplay after playing a few more games of K'47. We also talk through the player pack and expectations for Cancon's Konflikt '47 event.
In this chaotic and wide-ranging episode, the Blue Collar Schmucks dive into Eric's new Springfield Echelon pistol before veering into podcast growth strategies, from guest outreach via PodMatch to social media clips, merch branding, and even calling into sports talk shows for exposure; along the way, they debate Comic-Con vs. CanCon, joke about fursuits, rant about ammo prices and political migration, critique memes and Marvel movies, reimagine Superman as a brutal vigilante, test AI voice impersonations, and wrap it all in a swirl of firearm cleaning tips, daylight savings gripes, and Leslie Nielsen-inspired comedy.
Breaking down Recoil Magazine's CanCon 2025 event in SC, some of the things that caught my eye and a couple of game changers in the suppressor world. We also dive into the possible unmasking of the J6 pipebomb hoax. Veterans' Day Sale: 10% Off ALL Khyber Optics
The moment has arrived! That is, an actual announcement of Doctor Who's future from the BBC (and not the outgoing Disney+) in the form of a last hurrah from Russell T Davies and Bad Wolf by way of a Christmas special in 2026, along with official confirmation of Turf and Surf hitting the iPlayer this Christmas and Disney+ in February. What does this portend for both the present and future of Doctor Who? The Three Who Rule put on their television detective hats and as usual solve nothing, as do many entertainment journalists including friend of the show Kyle Anderson, and lesser lights such as Variety, Deadline, and The Hollywood Reporter. Plus the usual Big Finish cover over-analysis, a smidgen of Can*Con, and the conclusion of our four-part Classic Series Commentary for "The Sun Makers"! Brad Zerbo and Jaytriot close out The Audio Files season with a cinematic tribute to Cocoa Beach, the home of rockets, surfboards, and the Great American Restoration Tour. Broadcasting from the edge of liftoff, the duo blends 60 years of beach and space-inspired music, from Frankie Avalon's Beach Blanket Bingo to Bowie's Space Oddity and Flock of Seagulls' Space Age Love Song. They trace the strange but beautiful collision of 1960s surf culture and NASA's space program, weaving in punk, new wave, and glam rock detours along the way. Between stories of CanCon's “spacey” beach party, Brad's Jersey Shore nostalgia, and Jay's Ace Frehley memories, this episode feels like a warm night by the ocean, equal parts nostalgia, laughter, and heart. The finale ends on a high note with Sinatra's timeless Fly Me to the Moon, a song once played aboard Apollo 11 and now closing out the pre-GART celebration with style and soul.
We have coverage of the Breeders' Cup from Del Mar – great finishes, big payoffs and European dominance on the grass, though little Cancon to brag about. Emma-Jayne Wilson was back at Woodbine after a 3-month layoff; she didn't win, but Rafael Hernandez took down 3 races and Fraser Aebly won 4. This podcast features 3-year-old Brooks Ratchford cheering on dad, Todd to a Breeders Crown win and Todd talks with us about the greatest night of his life. Jody Jamieson won a race Monday night with a horse that paid off at 80-1 and Garnet Barnsdale told you in the Mohawk Journal that The Bear a Cuda would win and when it did, the win price was $81.30 and do the rules at Keeneland allow a horse to be ridden by a rider…with no head?

Big Tech companies will spend the next week arguing why they shouldn't have to bankroll Canada's music industry. A new report confirms what we already kinda knew about the feds' carbon cutting goals: they bit off more than they could chew.

Episode 181 is another installation of our Page to Screen series, this time with Scott Pilgrim! We read the comic series by Bryan Lee O'Malley and watched the film adaptation. It might be the most Toronto thing we've ever read or watched!Show NotesThe Scott Pilgrim comic series was released in six digest-size volumes between 2004-2010, and was originally published in black and white. Hardcover colour versions were released between 2012-2015.Edgar Wright directed the film, with Bryan Lee O'Malley as executive producer, and he nails the stylized look so that the film feels like a comic book come to life. Both the book and the film feature some iconic Toronto locations, including Casa Loma, Sneaky Dee's, the Toronto Reference Library, and Honest Ed's (RIP).This cast is stacked! In 2020, for the 10-year anniversary of the film, most of the cast reunited for a table read of the script. You can watch it on YouTubeShout out to Canadian bands Broken Social Scene and Metric for writing songs for the fictional bands in the film (Crash and the Boys and The Clash at Demonhead respectively), and to Chris Murphy of Sloan for being the musical performance supervisor on the film. Beck wrote the songs for Scott's band, Sex Bob-omb.We truly had a blast reading and watching this. It was just so much fun! We're definitely going to watch the anime series, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. We're officially kicking off spooky season with our next episode on October 1. We'll be talking about Auralee Wallace's recent relsease, The Late-Night Witches. Apparently, we're also keeping the CanCon going because it takes place in PEI!There's going to be three episodes in October, so stick around for our 7th anniversary episode in the middle of the month on the 15th, and then we're wrapping up Halloween season with Mariana Enriquez's new release, Somebody is Walking on Your Grave.Other Books and Media MentionedBy Bryan Lee O'Malley: Lost at Sea, Seconds, SnotgirlDirected by Edgar Wright: Hot Fuzz, Last Night in Soho, Baby Driver
One last special episode to close out season six!We thought we'd take two songs by artists we're pretty sure we'll never cover on "The Clash" and put them through our usual review process. Kev pulled out one of the most iconic electronic hits from the early 80s and Corey took a very Canadian line, picking an artist Kev had never heard of! But will the sparse, dark synth pop of OMD spin Corey's doughnut? And will Kev dig some CanCon rock n roll? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and grab the reigns (my feelings still remain)Don't forget to follow us on social media and leave us a rating/review if you're enjoying the show!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/UltimateCatalogueClashBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/ucatalogueclash.bsky.socialDiscord: https://discord.gg/mz9ymTwSSEKo-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/ultimatecatalogueclash Hosted on Acast. It's easier then you think to be pulled in two different directions by two different worlds....On this episode we get to talk about a glorious little slice of Can-Con pulled straight from the GTA. It's time for 'Shook'.After an encounter with his estranged father, aspiring writer Ash (Saamer Usmani) finds himself at a crossroads as he has to deal with a secret that will force him to balance family, love and success while navigating the difficult divide between the excitement of city life that he wants and the suburban domestic truths that lie a head. It's a classic tale with a swing on it that hits close to home and in advance of the movie hitting theatres today we had the pleasure of sitting down with Co-Writer/Director Amar Wala to talk about the origins of 'Shook' the process of making it all and so very much more....'Shook' is in theatres now.

It's a gut-wrenching, all too familiar scene - Canadians leaving their homes as out of control wildfires advance on entire towns. The prairie provinces are dealing with a record-breaking wildfire season, leaving communities engulfed in worry. Also: As ceasefire negotiations between Russia and Ukraine remain stalled, a number of countries on the Baltic Sea are sounding the alarm on increasingly provocative actions involving a shadowy fleet of ships linked to Moscow. And: As this country's best in film and TV is celebrated at the Canadian Screen Awards this weekend, the federal government is looking into redefining what qualifies as Canadian content.Plus: Reaction to Donald Trump's proposed steel and aluminum tariff increase, Canada's firefighting resources, and more
Greg Brady and the panel of: Steve Paikin, Author and Broadcaster, host of TVO's ‘The Agenda' , Chloe Brown, policy analyst and former Toronto mayoral candidate, Discuss: 1 - A 2025 poll indicates that 45% of Canadians support the constitutional monarchy, while 39% favor a republic. Given the current support levels, what do you foresee as the future of the monarchy in Canada? Do you support its continuation or advocate for a republic? How might King Charles III's visit influence Canada's diplomatic relations, especially with countries like the United States? 2 - In light of the Lapu Lapu Day attack and yesterday's events in Liverpool, how hesitant are you about attending public events with large crowds? Should all festivals be treated equally when it comes to safety funding, or should some be prioritized based on perceived threat levels? What does that say about whose safety matters more? How do we prevent reactive security funding from becoming a substitute for addressing the root causes of violence and extremism? 3 - Toronto teens are being trafficked to Thunder Bay for the drug trade. What role do systemic issues, such as poverty and lack of opportunities, play in making youth susceptible to exploitation by criminal organizations? Is it ethical to criminalize minors involved in drug trafficking when they may be victims of exploitation? 4 - Are strict CanCon rules protecting Canadian culture — or propping up a creative industry that can't compete globally on its own? Should Canadian audiences be forced to consume a quota of “Canadian” content — even if they prefer U.S. or international media? Is it hypocritical for the CBC — which partners with U.S. companies like Netflix — to call for tighter restrictions on foreign involvement in Canadian productions? Learn more about your ad choices. Oh boy are we back at it this week, telling you all about what you shouldn't put the number #69 on your beer league jersey — nothing good is gonna come from it pal! We briefly talk about Mel Anglestad, one of 4 NHL players to don the number on an NHL ice surface — shout out to friend of the show Keener, from Keener's Jerseys, who also happened to discuss in his excellent column this week — if you're not give him a subscribe, column is always fun! Then we break down the Stanley Cup semis — Dallas and Carolina look like completely different teams as they have gotten off to slow starts, while Florida and Edmonton seem to be on a crash course collision to a rematch of last year's finals. Then we talk top pending UFA's, with a little sprinkling of some early off-season personnel changes — all this, plus 3 new CanCon bangers for your earholes!
Steve Jones is the president of Stingray Radio. If you have been following him on Linked In, (and you should) you have been presented with many wild examples of what qualifies as Canadian content on the radio. We all have our favourites. Mine are the collection of songs circa 1991 like Rod Stewart's Rhythm of my Heart and Bonnie Riatt's Something to Talk About qualifying as Cancon, while the entire album of Bryan Adams' Waking Up The Neighbours is not. Over the years the list has grown, and now that our planet is more connected than ever with technology, there is a need for Canada to update how Cancon is determined.Steve recognizes the lack of Canadian content recognition on streaming platforms and calls for a collaborative approach to modernize Canadian content rules.I suggest during this conversation that the regulations for radio should also include spoken word content; the regs are already in place for television. Yes, we do this close to an hour and likely could have gone another hour. A Transcript and video of the show is available on our network page. Please sign up for the SOUNDING OFF Newsletter. What makes a TV show Canadian? Answering that is more confusing than you might think. What do you get when you mix natural gas, Indigenous equity, and a $400 million loan guarantee? A surprisingly feel-good pipeline story.
