Lovesick is a narrative game featuring a character-driven story of a bank on the brink of collapse that faces a series of supernatural events that they must escape from. It features a lot of escape room and puzzle mechanics that are mixed with embodied gameplay, but at the heart it's about the relationship between these four different band members in what I found to be a real gem of a story with a payoff ending that made it worth the journey. I had a chance to sit down with director and co-writer Corey Warning from Rose-City Games to get a bit more context for how Lovesick came about catalyzed by some funding from Meta, their iterative design process along the way that was centered and driven by the story they wanted to tell, as well as their hope to bring some narrative-driven content and indie spirit to the VR ecosystem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAb_7fewd6c This is a listener-supported podcast through the Voices of VR Patreon. How does this series stand apart from previous Superman stories? When starting from scratch, so to speak, was it ever overwhelming figuring out what you wanted to use from the vast Superman tapestry? What themes are you most excited to explore with Superman in this series? Are there new facets of his personality or struggles you're aiming to highlight? The concept of social class is a strong one in the first issue, why was that so important to this character? To be honest, the social class element made me immediately think of Batman, do you think your Superman would get along with Batman? What challenges have you faced in writing Superman (though not for the first time), a character often seen as the ultimate symbol of hope and morality? What would Absolute Superman think of main universe Superman, or vice versa? The first issue seems to suggest there's some tweaks to Superman's abilities, or maybe how he charges up. Can you spouse or significant other make you physically sick? The joke writes itself, but it's truly no laughing matter. The answer is yes! And the reasons extend beyond just the day-to-day hiccups of relationships. Research shows that your husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, or partner can have a direct influence on your health. Dr. Neal Barnard, author of The Power Foods Diet, joins “The Weight Loss Champion” Chuck Carroll to explain how the love of your life is influencing your ability to be healthy. Dr. Barnard explains that it's a double-edged sword. While some relationships can become a barrier to being healthy others can work very much work in your favor to build a healthier body inside and out. To demonstrate how significant the influence your partner may have, Dr. Barnard shares a study examining high blood pressure among couples. If one person has high blood pressure the other is at a significantly higher risk of having it as well! And that's just the tip of the health relationship iceberg! In The Power Foods Focus, Dr. Barnard also shares the foods that you should be eating to boost your metabolism and achieve your weight loss goals. On This Show - High blood pressure among couples - Your partner's influence on your risk of heart disease - Your partner and your risk of cancer - How to encourage healthier habits - Minimizing temptation - Saturated fat and cholesterol - And more! Let's Talk About Myths, Baby! Greek & Roman Mythology Retold
Is it a love story when the woman is forced to choose between marriage and death? Acontius thinks so! Help keep LTAMB going by subscribing to Liv's Patreon for bonus content! CW/TW: far too many Greek myths involve assault. Given it's fiction, and typically involves gods and/or monsters, I'm not as deferential as I would be were I referencing the real thing.
