In this episode we speak with one of the first African American members of the United States Underwater Demolition Team, Vernon Gilmore. Vernon starts off telling us about his time in basic training and what it's like to go through hell week (4:55). He then goes over some of the racism he experienced while stationed in the south and how his squad mates responded (15:30). Woo-boy, things are a-brewin' now!  Thea, in a surprise move, takes the once-standard Diggle approach of advising Oliver to be dishonest to Felicity while Felicity defends Captain Lance's dishonesty to Donna as "trying to protect you". Sigh.  Oh, and there are mayoral debates and bombs and Demolition Team... Oh, and a magic chip that ... well, let's just say it out-does a certain Dark Knight's knee brace...

If you're going to stand by a "Code of Silence", then you're going to end up with secrets from people you love. Oliver's secret about his son has been discovered. Darhk will use that to his advantage. Plus, he'll use bombing experts known as the Demolition Team to ensure that his wife Ruve´ will be Mayor of Star City, when they try to blow up Oliver's debate with her. Quentin Lance has gone into hiding, now that HIVE wants him out of the picture. And Donna Smoak can't get enough pink for the pre-wedding festivities. Malcolm joins Darhk, his wife Ruve Adams, and the other leaders of H.I.V.E. where it is revealed that they are on "Phase 5" of their plan. In order tie-up loose ends, Darhk sends a group of mercenaries, known as the Demolition Team, to take out Captain Lance. They fail, and Felicity is able to track them to their hideout. Oliver, Thea, Laurel, and Diggle go after them but are almost killed when the Demolition Team destroy their own building to escape. Meanwhile, Thea discovers that Oliver has a son, and supports his decision to keep it a secret. With Curtis' help, Felicity realizes that Demolition Team are planning to destroy the venue for the mayoral debate between Oliver and Ruve, leaving Ruve alive as a sympathetic survivor. Oliver and his team stop the mercenaries in time for Oliver to win the debate. After, Darhk kidnaps William. In flashbacks, Oliver kills Conklin to win the trust of the other prisoners as Reiter forces them to dig for an "ultimate power" hidden on the island.
