Leaders make lots of key decisions—but one decision can be the separator between leadership that sustains and leadership that thrives. In this week's episode, John reveals how the choice to be intentional transforms good leaders into great ones and empowers you to make a real difference. After his lesson, Mark Cole and Traci Morrow unpack the practical steps you can take to apply these principles in your own leadership. Key takeaways: Generational greatness demands intentional actions, a growth mindset, and a commitment to serving others. The best leaders shine their light in the darkest times by focusing on solutions and courageously solving problems rather than cursing the darkness. Daily disciplines, consistency, and a focus on adding value to people are what make a powerful leadership legacy possible. What separates the most successful dentists from average performers? It's not intelligence, strategy, or opportunity — it's the ability to keep going when it's no longer exciting. In this episode of The Lifestyle Practice Podcast, Dr. Derek Williams reveals the #1 rule of long-term success in dentistry, dental practice ownership, and life. Drawing from "The Gap and the Gain" by Dan Sullivan, real coaching conversations with dentists, his own ACL surgery recovery, and Rory McIlroy's Masters comeback, Derek breaks down why most dentists quietly fall off at the plateau — and what high performers do differently. You'll learn the dangerous trap of tying your effort to your emotions, the difference between interest and commitment, and the mindset shift that turns boredom into a signal you're doing things right. Ethical persuasion is your professional obligation to your prospective clients. But most advisors don't believe this because they fall into one of two extremes: They either ditch the "ethical" part and dive into unethical manipulation tactics to trick their prospects into forking over their hard-earned money… Or they think the complete opposite: That persuasion is beneath them. And thus, don't try to persuade prospective clients at all. Both of these extremes are dead wrong. And if you're committing either one, you're building a business on quicksand. Today's show makes the case that ethical persuasion is your obligation. You'll discover the difference between ethical marketing and manipulative marketing, you'll learn why being ethical is often more persuasive, and you'll leave knowing how to spot manipulative tactics anywhere. Listen now. Show highlights include: Why you don't need to be manipulative in order to be persuasive (and how misunderstanding the difference causes the slow and painful death of your business) (5:48) A simple 3-part test you can use to determine whether something is manipulative or not (6:29) Why it's ethical to leverage the incredible power of emotions when persuading someone to take your desired action (12:13) 3 signs that a financial advisor has crossed from ethical persuasion into manipulation territory (13:06) Why acting like persuasion is beneath you as an advisor will just make prospective clients go to an advisor who actually cares about their future (17:17) Since you listen to this podcast, I want to give you a gift: If you subscribe to the Inner Circle Newsletter, I'll send you a collection of seven "objection busting" and copyright free emails, personally written by me, that you can use right away to begin getting more clients. Welcome to Episode 209 of the Bodybuilding Down Under Podcast! With the final national shows of the season just around the corner, we tackle two of the most common yet least discussed realities of competitive bodybuilding. First up, what actually happens when you overeat on prep. We cover carb blowouts versus high fat binges, how being extremely lean changes the way your body may store excess food, and how we handle these conversations with our athletes when it happens. From there we shift into the post show recovery phase, covering common coaching mistakes, how to set recovery macros, why framing recovery as an extension of prep rather than the start of the off season makes a huge psychological difference, and the importance of celebrating small wins over chasing perfection. To wrap up, we each share out top practical tips for getting through post show, from swapping intra workout carbs for more food volume to the simple advice of just being kind to yourself. Enjoy! If you want to elevate your learning and development role from an order taker to a strategic partner, it starts with something many leaders overlook: mindset. In this episode, I explore how the way you think about your role in learning and development directly impacts your influence, credibility, and results inside your organization.Too often, nonprofit learning professionals feel stuck reacting to requests instead of shaping strategy. But shifting from an order taker to a strategic partner isn't about changing your job title. It's about changing how you show up. In this episode of The Level Up Podcast w/ Paul Alex, we break down why speed is one of the greatest advantages you can have in business. Most people think success comes down to talent, money, connections, or experience. But the truth is, none of that matters if you move too slow. Paul shares how urgency helped him transition from law enforcement into entrepreneurship by taking action before everything was perfect. While other people were stuck planning, researching, and waiting for the “right time,” he started moving, learning, adjusting, and building momentum. Because in business, hesitation is expensive. The market does not reward the person with the best idea. It rewards the person who executes. In this episode, you'll learn: Why speed does not mean being reckless How fast execution creates real momentum Why overthinking keeps entrepreneurs stuck How messy action teaches you faster than perfect planning Why done will always beat perfect when you are trying to grow Every day you delay, someone else is building. Someone else is launching. Someone else is getting feedback from the market. And someone else is getting better while you are still waiting to feel ready. Winners separate themselves by moving faster, learning quicker, and refusing to let fear slow them down. Speed creates clarity. Speed builds confidence. And speed turns vision into results. But in Milwaukee's Silver City, there's one gym providing women with a space to build strength, confidence and discipline. Many who step through the door at SheWolf have no prior experience and might not be all that interested in the fighting aspect of boxing. Still, going to the gym quickly becomes part of their daily routine for other reasons.“This is just a period of time in society, but then also personally in my life as a middle-aged woman doing a lot of different things, that I just want to feel strong,” said Trudy Watt, a member of the gym who started boxing not just for the physical benefit, but also the community aspect.“I just passed my hundredth class a couple weeks ago,” she added. “If you just stick with it, it's really astonishing how in less than a year, you'll see your own strength and ability grow in really noticeable ways.” On this episode, guest host Rachel Tarby talks with Watt and other gym members, plus owner Donna Gallardo, about what makes SheWolf a unique entry in Milwaukee's fitness community.#####Guest host: Rachel TarbyUniquely Milwaukee is made possible by the generous support of our members.

What if the core story of the Bible isn't actually about going to heaven or hell when you die? In this episode, we explore the profound biblical narrative of heaven and earth being reunited and what that means for our understanding of eternal life. Join Mike Erre and Tim Stafford as they dive deep into the scriptures to uncover a story that is much more beautiful and human than the traditional "fire insurance" gospel many of us were taught. We start by looking at the book of Genesis to understand the true nature of humanity, described as a combination of dirt and divine breath. The conversation shifts the focus away from a fear-based theology and toward the restoration of our humanity. We discuss how the Tree of Life represents a choice to live in alignment with divine wisdom and how Jesus acts as the ultimate fulfillment of that choice. By examining the imagery of the cross as a tree, we see how God transforms a curse into the very source of life for the world.Key topics in this episode include:The difference between a heaven-centric story and a heaven-and-earth story. Why humans are not naturally immortal and what the word nephesh really means. The imagery of hell as containment and protection rather than just a place of torture. How sin acts as an anti-human force that degrades our true identity. The hope of a physical resurrection and what it means to live for the kingdom today.Chapters:0:00 Intro and Allergy Update2:45 Recapping the Eternal Life Conversation6:15 Heaven and Earth vs Heaven and Hell9:30 Hell as a Place of Containment and Protection13:00 The Rich Man and Lazarus Parable16:45 Human Nature: Dirt and Divine Breath20:15 The Two Trees and Life 2.024:00 Defining Good and Evil (Tov and Ra)28:15 Death as the Separation of Unity32:00 Jesus as the Living Tree of Life36:30 Refining Fire and the Good News of Judgment40:45 Why the New Testament Calls the Cross a Tree45:00 Sin as an Anti-Human Construct49:30 Physical Resurrection and the Preview of New Creation53:15 Moving Beyond Fear-Based Discipleship57:19 Closing and Support InfoAs always, we encourage and would love discussion as we pursue. There's one thing separating the top producers in real estate and mortgage from everyone else right now — and most people aren't willing to hear it. We break down a powerful insight from Harvard Business Review and connect it directly to what's happening in our industry right now. If you're a loan officer, realtor, or leader in this business, this episode will challenge the way you think about performance, culture, and what it actually takes to win in a volatile market. Watch this one. Share it with your team. It might be the most important 5 minutes of your week.
Most people want success, but very few are willing to live through the years where nobody sees the work.It started with striking out on that first door and turned into a career that took decades to come together. What it really shows is how to keep going when you're still not where you want to be, when the money hasn't followed yet, and when the results don't reflect the work you're putting in.
King Charles' address to Congress this week landed at a delicate moment in UK‑US relations - a relationship that's close, occasionally strained, and shaped as much by tone and symbolism as by policy. The speech was widely seen as an attempt to strike the right balance, and it raises an interesting question: what actually makes a speech work? Joining Pat to discuss is Derek Mooney, a former ministerial adviser and speechwriter.
A few years ago, lying in a tent in the Hindu Kush with destroyed legs and altitude-split lips, Tom Foxley found himself in a conversation about Everest. Why it pulls at people. And why, despite that pull, he realised he didn't want to climb it — not the way most people climb it. Fixed ropes from base to summit. Guided queues. Infrastructure rebuilt every season so that people reach the top regardless of whether they were truly ready. His climbing partner said something Tom has been turning over ever since: everyone gets to the top, but everyone who knows the mountain knows how they got there. That's style. In this episode, Tom maps that principle onto the two kinds of operator he sees every week in business. The one who moves constantly but struggles to name what they actually built today. And the one running what looks like a similar business — similar revenue, similar team, similar pressure — but where decisions don't come back, problems stay solved, and calm is a trained state rather than a lucky one. The gap between those two operators isn't information, discipline or a smarter model. It's training. And almost nobody does it — not because they don't want to, but because nobody told them it was available. Topics covered: - The Hindu Kush, Everest and what mountaineering style reveals about business operators - The two kinds of operator — what actually separates them - Why masterminds, accountability and systems are the fixed rope version of building a business - The difference between engineering around your gaps and closing them - What it looks like when the internal architecture does the work the external structures used to do - The question worth sitting with this week
Most people think they are living by their values when they are actually just living by their preferences, and that confusion is the reason their lives feel inconsistent, scattered, and quietly out of alignment. Preferences are what feel good in the moment, what is comfortable, what is convenient, and what protects you from friction, while values are what you have decided matter regardless of how you feel on any given day. The problem is that when preferences run the show, your discipline collapses the moment something becomes hard, your standards bend the moment something becomes inconvenient, and your identity becomes shaped by mood instead of conviction. In this episode, I am breaking down how to identify which one is actually driving your decisions, why most people unknowingly let preferences masquerade as values, and what it takes to build a life that holds steady whether you feel like showing up or not. If you are tired of starting over, breaking your own promises, and wondering why nothing feels like it is sticking, this is the conversation that will show you exactly where the disconnect is and how to close the gap with clarity and ownership.

John Rush opens the hour alongside Hunter from Cub Creek Heating and Air Conditioning, tackling the real-world impact of unpredictable weather, rising repair costs, and why proactive HVAC maintenance—and even heat pump upgrades—could save homeowners from costly surprises. But as the conversation shifts, the tone quickly intensifies. A shocking alleged assassination attempt involving Donald Trump becomes the focal point, raising urgent questions about security, media narratives, and how quickly information spreads in today's digital age. With platforms like X delivering real-time updates, are traditional outlets losing control of the story? John dives deeper, challenging the responses of political leaders and cultural figures, including Barack Obama and Jimmy Kimmel, and questioning whether their words—or lack of clarity—reveal something more. Is this simply politics as usual, or a deeper divide shaping how Americans interpret right, wrong, and responsibility? As listeners weigh in, one question lingers: in moments that demand moral clarity, who is truly willing to speak—and who chooses not to? Guest Timestamps 1:08 — Hunter — https://www.cubcreekhvac.com/ HOUR 2 John Rush launches Hour 2 by digging deeper into the shocking alleged assassination attempt, raising critical questions about how it happened, what motivated it, and why so many still refuse to clearly condemn it. As new details emerge—including the suspect's background and cross-country travel—John presses listeners to confront uncomfortable realities. Is the truth being ignored… or intentionally avoided? The conversation intensifies as media influence comes under fire, with figures like Jimmy Kimmel drawing scrutiny for rhetoric that some argue crosses a dangerous line. Meanwhile, conspiracy theories swirl—but are they distractions from simpler, more troubling explanations? Then, a shift—sports take center stage. The Colorado Avalanche look dominant, but the Denver Nuggets face serious questions. With Nikola Jokić struggling to find rhythm and the team lacking cohesion, are major changes looming? The hour wraps up with a practical twist—a detailed review of the 2026 Lexus RZ 550e. From politics to playoffs to performance vehicles, one theme remains: what's real, what matters, and what comes next? Timestamps 44:51 - 2026 Lexus RZ 550e Review HOUR 3 From Chaos to Clarity—Who's Thinking Clearly in Uncertain Times? John opens Hour 3 by circling back to the weekend's shocking events, but quickly pivots into something just as critical—how people think, decide, and respond under pressure. As listener calls roll in, the conversation expands beyond politics into strategy, economics, and personal responsibility. A powerful interview with business coach Kurt Hegetschweiler shifts the focus to growth in uncertain times. From understanding margins to building resilience through disciplined cycles of effort and recovery, the message is clear: success isn't accidental—it's intentional. Then, the discussion turns real. Calls about political strategy, taxes, and everyday financial decisions expose a deeper issue—mindset. Why do some people adapt and grow, while others stay stuck? From progressive taxation to personal spending habits, John argues that incentives—and choices—drive outcomes. The hour closes with sharp commentary on policy, accountability, and the importance of common sense in a world full of noise. Whether in business, politics, or life, one question remains: are you thinking clearly… or just reacting? Guest Timestamps 5:59 Kurt Hegetschweiler — https://builderscoach.com/

You don't have a discipline problem. You have a direction problem. And no amount of hard work fixes it. In this episode, Dr. Dave breaks down why the hardest-working dentists often build the wrong practice the fastest. How commoditization happens by design when everyone optimizes for the same default. And the one question that separates practice owners who feel proud from the ones who hit their number and felt almost nothing. If you can't define what winning looks like in two sentences, this one's for you.
Big Idea Great coaching isn't about having the best answers—it's about creating the kind of space where clients discover their own. The difference between average and masterful coaching comes down to mindset, humility, and how deeply you engage the person—not just the problem. What You'll Learn in This Episode Why the coaching mindset requires intentional preparation The surprising role of humility in great coaching The difference between coaching the problem vs. coaching the person What separates ACC, PCC, and MCC-level coaching How to help clients create real ownership and action Why awareness (not advice) drives transformation Key Conversation Highlights 1. Coaching Is a Mindset—Not Just a Skill Coaching requires a deliberate shift in thinking Before each session: Step out of expert mode Step into curiosity and presence Core belief: The client is resourceful and capable 2. The Humility Behind Great Coaching Strong coaching starts with: "Maybe I don't know" Not a lack of knowledge—but a recognition that: The client knows their context best Key Insight: Coaching isn't about being right—it's about helping the client move forward. 3. Why Advice Doesn't Work (and Ownership Does) People rarely act on someone else's solution "No one washes a rental car" → people don't invest in what they don't own Shift: From giving answers → to creating ownership 4. Questions vs. Observations Two powerful coaching tools: Curious questions Neutral observations Goal: Not compliance—but new awareness 5. What Separates Good Coaches from Great Ones ACC-Level (Foundational Coaching) Focus on: The problem Action steps PCC-Level (Professional Coaching) More: Client-led direction Mid-session check-ins Learning awareness MCC-Level (Master Coaching) Focus shifts to: The person Beliefs, motivations, identity Internal transformation Key Shift: From "What should you do?" → to "Who are you becoming?" 6. The Power of Learning in Coaching Great coaches ask: "What did you learn about yourself?" "What did you learn about the situation?" Why it matters: Reinforces growth Builds confidence Fuels better action 7. Coaching the Whole Person (Not Just Words) Master-level coaching includes: Tone Pace Energy Body language Example: "I noticed your pace picked up—what's happening there?" 8. Coaching vs. Therapy (The Line) Coaching may touch the past—but: Doesn't stay there Uses it to move forward Key Idea: You don't ignore deeper issues—you acknowledge them so progress is possible 9. The Goal of Coaching Not: Being right Fixing everything But: Creating value Helping clients take meaningful, sustainable action Key Takeaways Great coaching is built on humility, curiosity, and trust The client must own the solution for it to stick Awareness is more powerful than advice Master coaches focus less on problems and more on people Transformation happens when clients: See clearly Think differently Act intentionally

ID The Future listeners now get to enjoy a new episode each month (as well as a bingecast archive episode) from our sister podcast Mind Matters News, a production of the Discovery Institute's Walter Bradley Center for Natural and Artificial Intelligence. The Mind Matters News podcast brings you interviews and insight from computer scientists, engineers, inventors, neurosurgeons, and other experts who bring sanity to the conversation about natural and artificial intelligence, going beyond the hype to explore the undercurrents of these important ideas. And although the Mind Matters News podcast will not often explicitly discuss intelligent design, it regularly explores the nature of intelligence, the origin of information, and the things that make us uniquely human, concepts that are central to the theory of intelligent design. Is consciousness the exclusive domain of human beings? Proponents of a view known as integrative information theory argue that AI will eventually achieve that same level of consciousness as systems build up and integrate more knowledge in the future. On this archive episode, Mind Matters guest host Pat Flynn welcomes Dr. Selmer Bringsjord to discuss some of the flaws in this theory as well as a possible alternative. Source

Psychopathy is treatable, altruism is contagious, and 'sociopath' is a word we should probably retire. Abigail Marsh makes the case here on part 2 of 2. [Find part 1 here!]Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1293What We Discuss with Dr. Abigail Marsh:Psychopathy isn't the life sentence people assume it is. Personality disorders like psychopathy and borderline are far more treatable than the popular narrative suggests, and many people with psychopathic traits actively want to change, recognizing their behavior patterns aren't working for them. Most of the world's worst atrocities aren't committed by psychopaths — they're committed by groups of ordinary people who believe they're completely justified. The real danger isn't the remorseless loner; it's collective moral certainty that one side's aggression is righteous.Fear is the secret bridge between altruism and psychopathy. Psychopaths don't process fear — their own or others' — while extreme altruists are hypersensitive to it. Same brain structure, different tuning, and that gap determines who rushes toward danger and who shrugs. Our brains are survival machines, not accuracy machines — and negativity bias warps our view of humanity. Bad behavior is actually rare, but we encode it in high fidelity, leading us to wildly overestimate how selfish and dangerous other people really are.Altruism creates ripple effects that reshape lives in ways you'd never predict. One kind response to a stranger — even an online troll — can shift someone's entire outlook. Well-being fuels generosity, and generosity fuels well-being, so start the cycle anywhere and watch it compound. And much more... [This is part two of a two-part episode. What separates someone who'd donate a kidney to a stranger from someone who might steal one? Abigail Marsh explains the neuroscience of fear on part 1 of 2.Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1292What We Discuss with Dr. Abigail Marsh:Psychopaths don't lack all emotion — they specifically lack the ability to recognize and feel fear. Where most people see terror on someone's face, a psychopath sees something unidentifiable — a deficit that fundamentally rewires how they relate to other humans. Many of psychology's most famous studies — the Stanford Prison Experiment, the Milgram shock test, the Kitty Genovese bystander story — turned out to be deeply flawed or outright fabricated. Humans are actually far more compassionate than these narratives suggest; CCTV data shows bystanders intervene 90% of the time.Psychopathy isn't caused by "bad parenting" in any simple way — it's a neurodevelopmental disorder with significant genetic heritability, much like autism or ADHD. Blaming parents echoes the same harmful logic that once attributed schizophrenia to "cold mothers."Household chaos — literal noise, inconsistent rules, revolving caregivers — makes it significantly harder for children to learn behavioral patterns. It's not just abuse that derails development; it's the inability to pick out a reliable signal from an overwhelming amount of environmental noise. The sweet spot of effective parenting — and really, of shaping better humans — is combining genuine warmth with consistent boundaries. Love without structure breeds entitlement; structure without love breeds resentment. But together, they build the foundation for compassion and resilience in any child. And much more...
