Just sunshine, warmth, and maybe a little disbelief. STORY 2: Vegan Bakery opens in East Cobb  Tropicups, a vibrant new vegan bakery, officially opened its doors on Saturday, bringing cupcakes, cakes, and a whole lot of heart to 2525 Shallowford Road. Owner and baker Renée de Gannes Penn started Tropicups as a home bakery, whipping up treats for friends and family after going vegan a few years ago. Now, with her first storefront, she’s serving up cupcakes, brownies, lemon-blueberry squares, and even vegan soft-serve ice cream. Custom orders? Yep, she’s got those too. The name “Tropicups” is a nod to her Trinidadian roots—“tropical” meets “cupcakes.” But her treats aren’t just for vegans. “People with dairy, egg, or gluten allergies love them too,” she said, though she notes the bakery isn’t allergy-certified. The air smelled like latkes and fried donuts, kids clutching raffle tickets, hoping for gift cards from local shops. Rabbi Joseph Prass, marking a decade with the synagogue, called up children to light the candles, weaving the story of Hanukkah into the night. “Freedom,” he said, “is worth celebrating—publicly, boldly.” The crowd nodded, some teary-eyed. That’s five Hoover Dams’ worth of power, and nearly a 50% boost in capacity. Why? Supposedly, tech giants need it for their AI and server farms. But here’s the kicker: the numbers? Secret. Opponents begged for transparency—“show your work,” they said. Nope. Denied. The vote? Rushed, just weeks before two new Democratic commissioners take office. Break: STORY 6: Atlanta named best US city for Christmas in 2025 by WalletHub     Turns out, Atlanta’s the place to be for Christmas this year. Georgia and Ole Miss travel to New Orleans, La., for a College Football Playoff quarterfinal game in the Sugar Bowl. The game will be played New Year's Day at 7 Central and will be shown on ESPN. The Southeastern 16 crew previews the game. Topics include: We saw a motivated Ole Miss team handle Tulane easily, a game that showed the Rebels are ready to play for new coach Pete Golding. However, Ole Miss's best two players--Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy--both suffered shoulder injuries vs. Tulane. Monitor the health of both entering the Sugar Bowl. Georgai's defense, led by CJ Allen and KJ Bolden, played like some of Kirby Smart's elite defenses in the season's second half. They'll need to play well because Chambiss is a dynamic player, plus, the Rebels can spread a defense out through the air as five pass-catchers--Harrison Wallace III, De'Zhaun Stribling, Deuce Alexander, Dae'Quan Wright and Cayden Lee--enter with over 500 yards receiving. The Bulldogs have found plenty of offensive balance with physical running back Nate Frazier showing both speed and power, and quarterback Gunner Stockton showing he can make timely plays both through the air and with his feet when needed. Don't sleep on Ole Miss's defense, either. The Rebels gave consistent effort there and have stars in linebacker Suntarine Perkins, Princewill Umamielen and didn't allow more than 26 points in any of their last six games. Southeastern 16's Jay Greeson and Chris Lee unpack the matter of whether Georgia should be the national title favorite. Topics include: Kirby Smart has his team peaking at the right time--and is there any coach you'd trust more in the postseason than Kirby Smart? Just one team managed to beat Georgia during the regular season--Alabama--and Georgia just smashed the Crimson Tide in the Southeastern Conference title match two weeks ago. The Bulldogs entered the season very talented, but also very young. Peaking at season's end was a very predictable trajectory. The Bulldogs showed up in big circumstances: a September win at Tennessee, a win in a rivalry game at Auburn, a home defeat of Ole Miss, a neutral-site win over Florida in a rivalry game on a day the Gators showed up to play, a dominant performance at Mississippi State, a 25-point demolition of Texas and a defeat of Georgia Tech in a rivalry game. Nate Frazier has been running well, Gunner Stockton makes timely plays and the defense is peaking at the same time. Is there a dominant team anywhere? On the other hand, many of those wins weren't dominant performances and on the whole. Some elements of Georgia's season (a per-play edge of just 5.8 yards to 4.9, a turnover margin of zero) were merely good and not national-title level. Where are the superstars?
