Hey there Zany ones! My pal Clinton (Coffee and Comics podcast) stopped by and chose a crazy comic to talk about this time! The cover says it all, well, ok, there's more to it than that, but that cover is an attention grabber for sure! Batman and Black Canary must stop a killer for hire, but who is this shadowy figure? And how the heck did Black Canary get here from Earth 2? We try our best to explain and/or avoid this bizarre subject! As usual, if you'd like to leave any feedback for the show, you can do so through email at Magazinesandmonsters@gmail.com or to me on Twitter @Billyd_licious or on the show's FB page (just search Magazines and Monsters). You can find Clinton on Twitter @Coffeecomicsblg and in BlueSky @coffeeandcomics and by searching any podcast app for Coffee and Comics, Days of High Adventure, and on the Longbox Crusade network for Fan Film Fridays! He's also a cohost on the new show The Turtle Power Hour! Thanks for listening!

Let us know what you thought abbout issue 20 at feathersandfoes@gmail.com www.thehuntresspodcast.com www.patreon.com/wrightonnetwork BlueSky: Huestone44.bsky.social & mtnflwr1.bsky.social Birds of Prey: Issue 20 Released: April 2, 2025 Writer: Kelly Thompson Art: Sami Basri with Vicente Cifuentes Colors: Adriano Lucas Lettering: Clayton Cowles Editor: Jessica Berbey Group Editor: Rob Levin Title: On the Run Part 1 In Gotham, Batgirl Cassandra Cain is investigating an apartment crime scene littered with clues. She bumps into Batman who agrees the crime scene belongs to the Birds of Prey. Back at the Birds' Headquarters, Oracle attempts to go through all the evidence. The group knows this is all a trap of some sort but there needs to be several in person investigations to solve what has happened and how it relates to a stolen experimental drug. They split up. That night in Gotham, Sin and Batgirl are on a stakeout. Sin is excited and apologizes for being a lot to put up with. Batgirl reassures her. They are a lot alike, trained to be weapons, bad people always want them. However they both are different inside and it's good. Sin gives her a hug. Meanwhile, Barda drops off Dinah in Tokyo. She makes her way down from the roof into a large theater where a demonstration of a new invisibility suit is underway. Dinah is shocked at how effective it is, Oracle calls it an industry game changer. Barda has boom tubed into United Arab Emirates and a small town that appears deserted. She investigates a strange nearby skyscraper. Although it has power, it too is empty. After getting into the penthouse she hears someone from the air ducts call out to her. Back in Gotham, Sin and Bargirl are curious when their target leaves a club only to descend into the sewers. They carefully follow. Barda reaches up to the grate of the air duct when tendrils of black slice down upon her. She drops her Megarod. The inky creature quickly heads for it. The room tilts as an alarm sounds. Barda's Megarod falls out the window with the ink creature. It grabs it and turns into a woman with glider wings. Barda is too busy to notice as the entire penthouse is launched into space. Oracle is trying to get feedback from Black Canary as Barda's intermittent communicator signal comes through. Oracle tells Barda all the Birds are under attack. Barda says she's in space, right before she discovers a bomb's onboard. It goes off with a huge boom and the ship explodes. Oracle frantically announces: “All Teams. This is a code black. Barda is down. I repeat, code black. Barda is down”. Elsewhere a shadowy figures looks at pictures of the Birds saying “one down, four to go.”

Feathers and Foes are back to talk about the Kelly Thompson banger! Write to us at feathersandfoes@gmail.com or www.patreon.com/wrightonnetwork Bluesky: huestone44.bsky.social Birds of Prey: Issue 19 Released: March 5, 2025 Writer: Kelly Thompson Art: Juann Cabal Colors: Adriano Lucas Lettering: Clayton Cowles Editor: Jessica Berbey Group Editor: Rob Levin Title: Divide and Conquer Part 2 At the Lake House, Dinah and Sin's trap has succeeded and their stalkers attack. A huge fight ensues with Oracle supplying help via drones. But when Dinah moves in front of the window, she's hit by a sniper's bullet. Meanwhile in the magical streets of The Seam, Big Barda continues her battle with the golems. She smashes them only for them to reform. No problem. She opens a boom tube to the moon and hits or tosses them through. She grabs their controller, Barter, and threatens to do the same to him unless he tells her how many others are after Batgirl and Constantine. Elsewhere in The Seam, the demon controlled Constantine continues it's attempt to get Batgirl to free it from it's bonds. Needless to say she's not even tempted. When the final golems attack, Batgirl smashes them then separates the parts by tossing them in various stores and barrels along the road. Back at the Lake House, Sin loses it when Dinah is shot at goes full Megaera, with green light blasting out of her and tendrils all doing their thing. She, or is it they, float out of the roof and threaten the League of Shadows, or whatever splinter cell this is, that they better gather their fallen and leave or she will take them apart. She further threatens to end them if she ever sees them again. Afterward Sin returns to care for Dinah. Dinah is worried if the being who just threatened the attackers was Sin or all Megaera. Sin isn't sure and Dinah reassures her they will find someone who can help. Back in The Seam, Batgirl and the demon infested Constantine reach the portal where the demon must be deposited. She rebuffs it again and is about to toss it in when Barda arrives to kick it through. A few moments later, the freed Constantine returns to the street. Dinah and Sin settle down to watch the sun rise at the Lake House. Sin expresses another concern. Some of the League of Shadows assassins she threatened appeared to be happy. She's possibly given them something new to covet: Megaera.

The group includes a quasi-manager named Heathcliff, a drummer and all around musician called Lord Byron, a keyboard player named Paloma, and a young mute girl they call Ditto as guitartist. Unfortunately the Black Canary shows are ending in violence, with Dinah in various fights. One newszine example sites Dinah fighting a group of gunmen. Needless to say, venues are starting to doubt the wisdom of booking the band. Backstage at the next stop Dinah hesitates, contemplating her bandaged fingers, the tears in her fishnets for a band-aids. However she puts on her boots and strides out on stage. After the show, Heathcliff tries to get their payment but once again, Dinah has been in a fight, this time with a group of men harassing some women. The venue owner is unhappy, but after spotting Dinah waiting behind her manager, he forks over the money. On the tour bus en route to their next stop, Lord Byron talks things over with Dinah. Byron tells her how much the record contract they recently signed means to them but that Dinah's actions risk giving the band a bad name. Plus Byron worries young Ditto couldn't defend herself if the violence should reach the rest of the band. Dinah is a mystery to her band as well as the public but now Byron asks Dinah to come clean. Dinah admits she's lived hard but makes a commitment to end the problems she's caused. Byron is thrilled when Dinah mentions her Sensei and even more excited when Dinah asks for help with her on stage moves. As the band unpacks at the next stop, a mysterious group of three suited individuals watch, talking about finding their target. At the sound check, Dinah marvels at the sounds Ditto can evoke from her guitar without help from pedals or electronics. Backstage before the concert Dinah talks to Heathcliff. He wants to know if this, performing, is really what she wants. Dinah explains she will finish the contract they signed. The money will help rebuild her life, her dojo, her team. Heathcliff asks again if she likes performing. She doesn't answer, instead stepping out on stage. Things are going well until Dinah spots the three suited individuals in the crowd. The three transform into inky humanoid alien things. As everyone takes cover, Dinah swings into action, eventually resorting to her Canary Cry to bring the roof down on top of the creatures. Dinah thinks they're after her, but their ranting make it clear they're actually after Ditto. The three alien things disappear through the hole in the ceiling. The band gathers and at first Dinah wants them to disperse while she protects Ditto alone. The band wants to stay together. Dinah says if they are going to do that then they need training, hand to hand first then weapons after that. The rest of the band is a bit stunned. As the bus travels to the next city, the group has no idea that the three ink humanoid creatures are hanging onto the back of the bus.

Batman/Superman: World's Finest #32 (2024)It is the continuation of the Eclipso/Word's Finest arc as the crap really hits the fan because both Superman AND Batman have been Eclipsified! The Watchtower is in pieces, Red Tornado's all screwed up and the rest of the Justice League is trapped in a purple jewel in the middle of the Sahara. And the worst thing is that Eclipso now has Batman's dark web password and wants Superman to use the Earth's satellites as a pickleball court. Will Green Arrow verbally berate Green Lantern into freeing them from their purple prison? Will the Spectre face significant self-esteem issues? Will Robin literally have to BREAK HIS NECK in order to bring Batman back to reality? Maybe? Probably?!?*** PROPER COMIC BOOK DISCUSSION STARTS AT 00:01:30 ***Promo: TASK FORCE X (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/task-force-x/id896494965)Continue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter / Instagram / Facebook / Threads / Bluesky or email the show at worstcollectionever@gmail.comAlso, get hip to all of our episodes on YouTube in its own playlist! https://bit.ly/WorstCollectionEverYTDownload the podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and wherever you get your favorite shows. If your New Year's Resolution was to strengthen your vocabulary with the help of some DC Comics superheroes, we've got you covered. Yes, we're turning back to The Super Dictionary, that bizarre book of words and definitions for the kids of 1978. Our latest batch of Super Dictionary entries features: Supergirl catching flies, Wonder Woman staggering about in a fog, Black Canary vs. a giant owl, Krypto the Super Dog gobbling like a turkey, Penguin being creepy and weird, and Atom's tiny handkerchief. We also learn a bit too much about Comet the Super Horse, and we review the most notorious entry in the whole book. Yes, it's time to discuss Luthor and his forty stolen cakes. Also: Chickens in the News! Want to stay at a massive rooster-shaped hotel in the Philippines? Yeah, we thought so. The Flopcast website! The ESO Network! The Flopcast on Facebook! That radish on your dinner plate might make a great villain! Or maybe the kite in the sky or the polka dots on your wife's dress. Sometimes our heroes have to go up against the wackiest bad guys you could imagine. What are the writers thinking? Maybe they do have a plan, because sometimes those weirdos stick around for a while and end up becoming very interesting. Come with us as we examine some of the craziest characters. Birds of Prey: Issue 16 Released: December 4, 2024 Writer: Kelly Thompson Art: Sami Basri Inker: Vicente Cifuentes Colors: Adriano Lucas Lettering: Clayton Cowles Editor: Jessica Berbey Group Editor: Rob Levin Title: Bird Undercover Part 3 Cassandra Cain's undercover mission into The Ninth Day Corporation has landed her in a secret sub-basement labyrinth facing Bella, a mutated woman who is now a dog like werewolf creature. However, after Cass uses a brick to break Bella's electronic collar, the beast becomes a friend. Cass uses Bella to trick her way into the guard's chamber. She takes some of the guard's equipment before climbing up the elevator cable and back into the ventilation ducts. She sees a woman about to be injected with a green substance and crashes into the room. She frees the woman who flees into the air duct. Cass now finds herself facing Xane, Jens, and Chet again. She sees that Xane is still wearing her secret communication bracelet. She uses a smoke grenade to distract him as she presses something to activate the bracelet. Except this has given one of the others time to hit her in the back with the syringe. Meanwhile at the Birds Headquarters, the other Birds have been anxiously awaiting word from Cass since she missed the last two check in times. Oracle is finally able to translate the message Cass send before her initial capture and the group sets out through one of Barda's boom tubes into the basement lab of the Ninth Day Corporation. As the scientists flee, gas is released and the Birds done their gas masks. They're then confronted by 4 grotesquely muscled mutated women. Black Canary, Big Barda, Onyx, and Grace take them out. However, as Black Canary uses a device to allow Oracle access into the computer she sees a sight that horrifies them: a grotesquely muscled mutated Cassandra Cain. The second issue of Absolute Wonder Woman builds upon the debut with the introduction of Steve Trevor and even bigger monsters. Justice League Unlimited launches with an incredbiel balance of huge scope and intimate moments. Detective Comics has Bruce turning to Superman for advice on whether to attempt to turn back the clock. Superman is confronted by Doomsday, but we get more questions that answers about the future version of the villain and a glimpse of Superman possible loving control is also very interesting for what it might mean. Finally, Best of the Best, Black Canary offeres incredible character work and art from the creative team while delving into very interesting themes of legacy and what it means to be family.
We don't know how to feel about violence as sports entertainment, but we cannot deny how much we love stories that center their emotional conflicts inside a ring. With their new series, Black Canary: Best of the Best, Tom King and Ryan Sook join the long tradition of tearing into internal torment by subjecting protagonists to regulated gladiatorial combat. Dinah Lance versus Lady Shiva, let's get ready to rumble. The first issue of the new series arrives in stores Wednesday (11/27). We won't spoil it here, but those pages will reveal some of the motivations for why Dinah, the second-best fighter in the DC universe, would subject herself to the fists of the single-best fighter. It has something to do with the first woman to don the Black Canary mantle - her mother. Yup, this is a Tom King comic, so you know Black Canary: Best of the Best must feature a twisty, prickly core relationship. This week's episode explores why the ring is such a compelling story engine. We discuss how Tom King was initially enticed to place Black Canary alongside other brutal fictional bouts like Rocky, Raging Bull, The Set-Up, The Big Blow, and yeah, Best of the Best. Ryan Sook takes us through his process of understanding the physicality of boxing, wrestling, and MMA while contemplating their bloody nature. And why has it taken King so long to tackle the mother/daughter dynamic? To continue this conversation, follow Tom King on Bluesky, Threads, and Instagram. Follow Ryan Sook on Instagram. The team going in to break her out are heavy hitters of the highest order — Black Canary, Big Barda, Grace Choi, and Onyx — with Oracle at mission control, and Sin frustrated she's been benched. Jace welcomes Tom King and Ryan Sook to the show to chat about the upcoming Black Canary: Best of the Best. Tom talks about the birht of the project from conversations that are likely familiat to many comic fans, about who would beat who in a fight. Also, in his constant evolution as a writer where he is always searching for new ways to tell a story, he talks about the inherent challenges of having two competitors brawling but not speaking. He solves the problem in a unique way and tells us about that decision. The balance visually between the fight and emotiona relationship scenes was something that Ryan was very aware of and he talks about welcoming that challenge. Also for the first time in his career, he had the entire script for the series in hand before he ever started. This gave him the unique opportunity to visually pace the entire story in a way that isn't possible most of the time. Join us to hear all about the series and be sure to pick up issue #1 in comic shops November 27th. Final Order Cutoff for issue #2 is November 25th.
