Chris Condon returns to the Cryptid Creator Corner today as part of Jimmy's DC December. Chris is the writer of such incredible series as That Texas Blood and The Enfield Gang Massacre. Now, Chris has taken over writing duties from Joshua Williamson on Green Arrow! Chris is taking Ollie back to the streets beginning with a back-up story in issue #17 (which was out in October, although the real fun starts with issue #18 that was out November 27th). Jimmy chats with Chris about it's been like taking on Green Arrow and what readers can expect from the story. Chris also talks about the upcoming Ultimate Wolverine (out January 15, 2025) and how he can balance these 2 different series. Writers with dreams of playing in the Big Two sandbox listen up as we try to crack the code as to how you break into comics. Chris Condon & Jacob Phillips Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/condonphillips Green Arrow #17 From the Publisher This oversized issue features the aftermath of Oliver Queen's role in Absolute Power, while also setting the stage for his next chapter! First, Oliver Queen did the unthinkable to protect his family, and now must deal with the ramifications of his actions. Will his family and friends forgive him? Then, get ready for the opening chapter of the Emerald Archer's next adventure, from writer Chris Condon (The Enfield Gang Massacre, That Texas Blood) and artist Montos (Black Adam, Green Lantern: War Journal)! Ultimate Wolverine From the publisher Hitting stands in January, ULTIMATE WOLVERINE will be written by rising star Chris Condon (That Texas Blood, VENOM WAR: DAREDEVIL) and drawn by MOON KNIGHT powerhouse artist Alessandro Cappuccio. True to the character's origin as a government weapon, Ultimate Wolverine is an unwilling agent of the Maker, the secret creator of this corrupt universe. Mindwiped and used as an assassin, he's still the best there is as at what he does… even if he's not in control of who he does it to. PATREON We have a new Patreon, CryptidCreatorCornerpod. After a bit of a hiatus we're back with The Flash and it was worth the wait. We finally get an episodes fit for the final season. They gave us Wally, Diggle and most importantly, Stephen Amell back in the suit as Oliver Queen. We didn't realize how much we missed seeing Amell kick ass as Oliver Queen until we saw this episode again. After some very questionable (let's be honest, they were bad) episodes, episode 9 felt like an episode that fit in line with what the final season of the Flash should be with Flash fan service. We also get the open acknowledgement of the existence of the new multiverse (not just new timelines) and a proper goodbye between Diggle and Oliver. Hell they even made us feel better about Diggle giving up the power ring to be with his family. This was a good episode and it gave us hope for what's coming next. We also talk about the Flash movie trailer and the new Transformers trailer. Kriss and Dpalm record the Mailbag at the end of every month. Star Wars Celebration just wrapped up in London and oh man, have they been dropping amazing news! We're going to cover the major highlights that have been released as the majority of our coverage on today's show. Three new movies have been announced. James Mangold, director of the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny movie, is set to direct a film he calls a “Biblical epic” that would explore the origins of the Force and is set 25,000 before any existing Star Wars timelines. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is helmed to direct Daisy Ridley, returning to her role as Rey Skywalker, as she rebuilds the Jedi Order. This movie is to be set 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. Finally, Lucasfilm heir-apparent Dave Filoni will direct a feature film for The Mandalorian, which will tie-in and wrap up the live-action shows The Mandalorian, Asohka, and The Book of Boba Fett. Fans were delighted with several trailers and exclusive looks at content. The Ahsoka full trailer debuted on the first day of Celebration. Premiering in August, this show follows former Jedi Ahsoka Tano and a crew of rebels from the animated series Star Wars Rebels as they chase down a new threat - fan favorite villain, Grand Admiral Thrawn. Star Wars Visions debuted a trailer. This will be the second season in a series of animated shorts, which are all created by different anime houses throughout the globe. Though not widely released, a trailer for The Acolyte was shown to those in attendance and has circulated the web in fuzzy form. This series is set during the High Republic timeline about the rise of the Dark Side and will premiere in 2024. Showrunner Leslye Headline explained the series as “Kill Bill meets Frozen!” The animated series The Bad Batch will return for a third and final season in 2024. The second season of this series had a lot of mixed reviews, but ended on a heartbreaking and tantalizing cliffhanger. Lastly, the live-action series Skeleton Crew received a first look from those in attendance at Celebration. Starring Jude Law as a Jedi character, what we know about the series is that it focuses on a group of kids post-Return of the Jedi. Said to evoke feelings of Amblin films such as E.T., Skeleton Crew is created and executive produced by director Jon Watts who many will recognize from the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. In casting news, Donald Glover told GQ that he is currently in talks with Lucasfilm to return as Lando Calrissian. Jay Turning from the galaxy far, far away, the Super Mario Brothers animated feature film has completely DOMINATED the box office since its debut last week, raking in $377 million globally. Those still following the Arrowverse on the CW channel are excited that Green Arrow actor Stephen Amell has returned for the final season of The Flash. Reprising his role as Oliver Queen, the bad boy rich guy turned archer hero, Amell's return to the universe brings a full-circle feeling to the end of the long-running tv shows. The Marvels debuted its first teaser trailer yesterday. The film starring Iman Velani, Teyonah Paris, and Brie Larson is set to hit theaters in November of this year.
