Welcome back to You Can't Kill the Boogeyman Podcast with your favorite spooky couple, Robby and Sammi! It's time to wrap up The Lost Boys trilogy and it's safe to say the franchise has worn out it's welcome. The last entry, Lost Boys: The Thirst truly had potential with it's focus on Edgar Frog, pretty kickass musical score, and potential for werewolves. But it just can't capture the magic of that very first 80s film...Follow the show on Instagram @boogeymanpod! Welcome to Santa Clara, murder capital of the world. With October in full swing the time has come to put our full focus on the definitive vampire movie of the 1980s. In a truly sacrilegious act, we will take the best vampire movie ever (Sorry Once Bitten!) and recast it with actors and actresses from the 1980s. Holy water, garlic and a stake through the heart can't stop us from tampering with perfection. I'm Mo Shapiro and joining me as always, the Alan Frog to my Edgar Frog, Max Sanders. And with that, let's recast The Lost Boys!
Nothing is worse than moving to a cool new town than finding out it is filled with vampires... well, maybe not filled, but they at least exist... AND THEY BOTHER YOU. Lil Sam Emerson is not going to take his big brother being turned into a vampire sitting down. NO! he will gather his friends, Edgar Frog and Sexy Sax Man to fight the vampires! in his mothers house! Without her permission! Ooooooh man, it gets SERIOUS. meanwhile, Michael Emerson just wants to date/kiss/make out/etc with a girl named Star. Listen, Michael... if her name is Star she probably isn't vaccinated and only eats peaches - be careful my man. OH WAIT - Star is in the vampire group, and big bad Lee-Roy DAVID is not going to take this situation without sinking his teeth into something... something like Michael. Natalie Joins Lee and Joe as they discuss just how sexy Sexy Sax Man is and if the movie truly stands up.
The Lost Boys – Michael Michael Michael! On our continued 80s kick, we discuss The Lost Boys, where the rules are made up and the lore doesn't matter! On this episode, we welcome the hardest-working woman in show business, Alicen Cowan, who joins us to discuss the beginning of the reign of the two Coreys. While we most certainly shed a few tears in mourning for the Head Vampire of character actors, Edward Herrmann, this movie makes for a fun stroll through the 80s, where the print was loud and the music was louder.Canadian Kiefer Sutherland makes his first appearance in an American film as the Billy Idol of vampires, and we find that vampirism and douchebaggery are NOT mutually exclusive, especially when you rock pierced ears and sunglasses at night. Even having Alex Winter in your crew can't save you from that look. Listeners, it doesn't matter if you're caught in the throes of a vampire transformation. There is ALWAYS time for blue jean sex, but not if you're wearing your shoes in bed. Here are some pro tips when dealing with paranormal beings:When you're dining at a friend's house, never balk at the cuisine. Even maggots and worms can taste great when you add a little salt and pepper.Melting a vampire in your bathtub is always a messy business and will wreak havoc on the indoor plumbing. Darth and Jason conclude that The Lost Boys eschews vampire tradition by having absolutely no solid rules about supernatural creatures, so that's fun. In fact, the only traditional aspect of this vampire movie is its strong homoerotic vibes. To that end, shake things up and remember to vote Jason Mitchell for Head Vampire 2020. He may not be the perfect amalgam of action heroes like Edgar Frog, but he will put your tax dollars to work by reinstating tradition in vampire movies .Lastly, The Lost Boys teaches us that it's okay to drive impaired so long as the only thing you kill is a vampire. Grandpa doesn't get stoned; he just has fun. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
What better movie to review when oldening than the one that promises eternal youth for bloodshed?! This week, we review The Lost Boys, starring Jason Patric as Michael, Mike, Mikey, Mikowski. His brother, Sam, is played by the late Cory Haim, while his mother is played by Academy Award Winner, Dianne Wiest (Edward Scissorhands, Hannah and Her Sisters). Horror veteran, Corey Feldman (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Goones, Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter) plays Edgar Frog, half of Santa Carla's local vampire patrol. When Michael, Mike, Mikey, Michelangelo falls for Star, played by Jami Gertz (Sixteen Candles, Less than Zero, Solarbabies), he comes into the haunting gaze of the leader of the Lost Boys: David. David is played by Keifer Sutherland (24, Young Guns, Flatliners), who shockingly has the least lines of any major character in the film. You would never know it based on his performance. The goons tackle trivia, give the main players nicknames, and rank the film against THE PANTHEON OF SLASHERS!!! After 20 years and a series of aborted sequels, Lost Boys fans had pretty much given up hope on their favorite vampire saga returning to the big screen. But in 2008 a sequel finally found its way to release--The Lost Boys: The Tribe. Featuring an entirely new set of vampires in a new California town, Chris Emerson has to square off against a tribe of vampires led by Shane to save his little sister from becoming a full vampire. Direct to video sequels are rarely are as good as their theatrical origins, but could this film buck the trend by including Keifer Sutherland's half-brother as the head vampire, Corey Feldman reprising his gravely Edgar Frog voice, and a cameo from horror master Tom Savini? Listen to find out!
The Lost Boys 2 was Warner Bros' highest selling DVD release in 2008, so it should surprise no one that Corey Feldman is again back as Edgar Frog. This time, Edgar, faced with financial problems, must take a job infiltrating a group of vampires who run underground raves, led by head vampire DJ X. With Jamison Newlander also back and touting The Return of the Frog Brothers, does this film restore The Lost Boys to its 80's glory? Listen to find out!
