Send us Fan MailVillains do not need to rebuild Disneyland to make it feel cursed. Give them control over the ride names, the background music, and the menu descriptions, and suddenly every “classic” turns into a warning label. We start with a toast straight out of Disney Cruise Line lore by recreating The Darling from DeVille's Piano Lounge on the Disney Destiny, then we use that same attention to theme and tone to let the bad guys run wild. From there, we draft the takeover rules and pick our battlegrounds: Disneyland and Disney's Animal Kingdom. You'll hear our ride overlay pitches that keep the mechanics intact while flipping the story, like Kilimanjaro Safaris as Scar's Wasteland, Expedition Everest pursued by the Druun, and Flight of Passage reframed as a full-on Battle For Pandora. On the Disneyland side, Space Mountain becomes Zerg's “Totally Safe” training simulator complete with relentless monologuing, Pirates turns into Captain Hook's “respectable” maritime career pitch, and It's a Small World gets a Dr. Facilier twist that asks one question on repeat: did you read the fine print? We also take swings at shows and walkthroughs, from Scar-centered theater to a Phantasmic narration track run by Hades, plus a Maleficent-inspired castle exhibit that rewrites the whole “who is the victim?” argument. And because Disney food culture is half the fun, we rename lounges and restaurants with villain energy, including a Nomad Lounge takeover with color-changing cocktails and a Cruella dining makeover that insists the steak is totally not what you think. If you love Disney villains, theme park storytelling, Disneyland details, Animal Kingdom atmosphere, and clever menu theming, hit subscribe, share the episode with a Disney friend, and leave a review. Which villain takeover would you actually want to experience?

Thirty-five years ago, Steven Spielberg released his updated take on the classic children's story Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie. Arriving in theaters in 1991 with enormous expectations, the film was toplined by four actors at the height of their fame: Robin Williams stars as an aged-up Peter, fresh off Dead Poets Society and Awakenings - and just a year away from Aladdin and Mrs. Doubtfire; Dustin Hoffman, riding high after his Oscar win for Rain Man, as the titular Captain Hook; Julia Roberts, newly-minted as America's sweetheart after Pretty Woman, donning the wings as Tinkerbell; and Bob Hoskins as Mister Smee, following up his breakout blockbuster Who Framed Roger Rabbit. With a prime Christmas release date and a sweeping John Williams score, the film looked destined to become an instant Spielberg swashbuckling classic. Instead, a famously troubled production - marked by massive (and expensive) sets, shooting that ran 40 days over schedule, and a strained relationship between director Spielberg and ingénue Roberts - resulted in a film that critics were quick to call indulgent and uneven. Spielberg himself later admitted frustration with the project, and despite solid box‑office returns, the film was seen as a disappointment during a peak period of Spielberg's career. And yet the pixie dust of nostalgia has quietly rewritten the narrative: the film has become something of a cult favorite, embraced by fans who grew up with VHS rewatches. Now we're dropping anchor in Pirates Bay to see if Hook conjures up any happy thoughts, or if it is better off getting lost, boy!   For more geeky podcasts visit GonnaGeek.com    You can find us on iTunes under ''Legends Podcast''. Even though it's Star Wars Day, someone else can talk about Luke & Leia. What I have is a  super-long episode about much-older movies: the 1932 Tarzan & the 1924 Pan. Johnny Weissmuller and Maureen O'Sullivan star in an exciting, sexy, action-adventure story. They worked with lions and hippos and crocs (and actors in animal suits) and it's all convincingly done, especially since none of the principal photography was actually in Africa. Then I talked about the boy who just refuses to age. Betty Bronson's Peter is going to stay in Never(Never)Land forever and ever (and ever)...even if Ernest Torrence's Captain Hook is gunning for his insouciant head. The film is well-made and the acting is not bad either, even if the concept is remarkably mockable. So check out my monlogues about some more good (and sometimes bad) guys here in Heroes Month in this 737th episode: Tarzan The Ape Man and Peter Pan. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air every other week. All discussions are PG-13.No News this week! We'll get caught up soon!Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 8 discussion (00:09:40) It's finally time to discuss the finale!! We kick off this episode with a flashback to that night on Half-Blood Hill before jumping back to Percy listening to Annabeth and Grover excitedly discussing Thalia's return. Blackjack appears in the road and Percy knows him. Sally wants to help, but this is quite literally Percy's battle, so she has to let him go do demigod things. Tantalus is being insufferable back in the hippodrome, but everyone is put out of their misery pretty quickly. Luke's forces have already been attacking Camp, and he arrives with even more. He's changed his tune since last time, saying anyone left inside Camp will be burned to the ground, but he does say Thalia's tree must be protected. Percy and Annabeth have an uncomfortable discussion about Thalia's loyalty. Percy and Co. come across some armed Campers, and they have to surrender to them. Mr. D doesn't want to believe anything is wrong, but Percy gives an impassioned speech about how Kronos is back. Clarisse listens as Chris tells her there are traitors in their midst, then reveals himself as one of those traitors! This is a little different than what happened in the book, but it makes sense to give Chris a larger role in the show. Turns out, Clarisse DOES have friends!! Percy and Luke square off, and it becomes obvious they have different objectives. It's bloody and violent, but this is only the beginning—just wait until season 5! Tyson comes to the rescue, and he wins an award for Best Brother of the Century! Allison shoots Annabeth with an arrow, but Percy must focus on the task at hand: Saving Thalia's tree. He hands the fleece off to Clarisse in another show of trust and maturity, and we're totally here for it. Thalia's shocking returns knocks Percy out. Percy is seaside with Poseidon, who tells him what they're all up against. Poseidon invited Tyson to be by his side, but Percy's destiny lies elsewhere. This scene is so emotional, between Tyson thanking Poseidon for bringing him to Percy and Sally, to Poseidon saying love is even stronger than Fate. Chiron is back and Percy still drools in his sleep, so all is right with the world. Clarisse is in charge of preparing Camp's troops. It gets a little awkward, but one “Shut up, Jackson” makes everything feel normal again. Chiron tells the truth of what happened that night on Half-Blood Hill. What did we think of Courtney B. Vance's interpretation of Zeus? Thalia returns, and Percy is feeling pretty conflicted about it. We also discuss the TWO bonus scenes at the end of the episode. Kristen has some follow-up questions. Percy Jackson and the Olympians Official Podcast highlights (01:21:05) We get to see Aryan's audition tape for Percy Jackson, the character! Aryan interviews his best friend, Walker, who talks about how the fight sequence at the end of the finale sets up season 3. They discuss Percy's big speech, and how Percy will continue to grow and evolve over the coming seasons. These books really did inform Walker's personality. Toby Stephens takes a break from playing Captain Hook to chat with them—but he never takes a break from smelling amazing! Once again, everyone has such nice things to say about Daniel Diemer. Walker and Toby also have some super nice things to say about each other. It's not easy playing a god, but Toby is pretty great at it. Also, he's acting royalty, so he's kind of the perfect person for this role. They talk about Lance Reddick and Courtney B. Vance. Aryan and Walker discuss Thalia's role in season 2. Then it's time to discuss season 3! Olive and Levi (Bianca and Nico) just got drenched for the first time on set, which seems to be a right of passage for this cast. Walker hates school and wishes he didn't have to go anymore. The guy playing Thorn (David Costabile) is apparently fantastic. Aryan got to play his panpipes and the two of them also watched the first movie and then the first season together. Walker also discusses his favorite scene from this season. Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode #155, where we'll discuss all the latest Percy Jackson and the Olympians news. This episode's hosts are: Karen and KristenEach episode, Prophecy Radio‘s hosts will discuss any official news coming out of Camp Half-Blood before doing a chapter by chapter reread of Percy Jackson or one of Rick Riordan's other series.Follow Us: Instagram // Facebook // TumblrListen and Subscribe: Audioboom // Apple // SpotifyFeel free to leave us your questions or comments through any of these mediums! Send a textWhat if Neverland isn't a place you fly to but a world you build together? We're pulling back the curtain on our reimagined Peter Pan Jr., where the nursery anchors reality and the stage reshapes itself with moving blocks into forests, ships, and hideaways. That design choice isn't just clever staging; it's a manifesto about how play transforms what we see and how young actors can hold a complex story with honesty and joy.We dive into the heart of the concept by turning light and shadow into living forces. Tinker Bell appears as pure light with a musical voice, while the crocodile becomes a shadow presence—time, fear, and consequence embodied—linked to both Mr. Darling and Captain Hook, played by the same actor. This lens lets us find layers in every role: Hook as more than a villain, Peter as a charming whirlwind who can also be selfish, Wendy as the spine that learns to lead. The result is a children's theater production that treats kids as artists and the audience as smart partners in the story. Our creative team is a mentorship story in motion. Former students now lead choreography, music, art design, costumes, lights, and sound, guiding a cast of 30 young performers with care and high standards. You'll hear how we direct without micromanaging, why confidence is a daily choice, and how tiny details—clock numerals stitched into Hook's coat, twig toothbrushes and bark slippers for the lost boys—help actors discover behavior and make scenes breathe. We also honor the founders whose educational vision still fuels everything we do.If you love theater that balances clarity with risk, tradition with fresh craft, and spectacle with soul, this conversation will light you up. From the bomb sites of post war South London to the stages of the Comedy Store and the studios of Radio 4, Arthur Smith's life has been driven less by ambition than by curiosity. The son of a Second World War prisoner of war turned police officer, and a grammar school girl who filled the house with books and poetry, Arthur grew up in a home where humour and humanity went hand in hand.In this episode of Full Disclosure, James O'Brien sits down with the comedian to trace a journey that begins in Bermondsey and winds its way through the birth of alternative comedy, and the strange alchemy that turned a literature graduate into one of Britain's most distinctive comic voices. Arthur reflects on discovering the thrill of laughter as a child playing Captain Hook, on being elected head boy, and on why poetry and stand up share more in common than most people realise. They revisit the early days of the Comedy Store, the emergence of a new kind of comedy in the 1980s, and the moment television fame arrived via Grumpy Old Men. Arthur speaks candidly about the seductions of drink, the shock of acute pancreatitis, and how a brush with mortality reshaped his relationship with success. For Arthur, comedy has never been about domination or design, but about delight: finding the precise word, the perfect pause, the unexpected turn.Find out more about Arthur Smith's upcoming gigs here

Vance Morris - Deliver Service Now Institute On the Customer Experience: "Every detail in your business is either enhancing or detracting from the experience. There is no middle ground." Many businesses focus on customer acquisition, but not all businesses focus on customer retention.  Some businesses just have a hard time figuring out what to do beyond being nice to retain customers. Vance Morris has taken his Disney work experience, along with his other life experiences and created a coaching platform to teach business leaders how to retain customers.  He does this by teaching these entrepreneurs how to build their brand by expanding the positive perceptions their customers have of their business, by giving these customers wonderful experinces as they do business.  Helping their customers feel something almost magical. I said, we've gotta niche down. So I said, who do you like working with? She said, oh, I love working with the kids. I said, okay, great. Let's just have you be a pediatric dentist. So now you work with them from, you know, 2 to 18. And after that, they— you don't talk to them. And I said, okay, great. Vance Morris [00:00:20]: Now you specialize. So you're gonna get a little bit more, um, elasticity in your pricing. You'll be able to charge more cuz you're a specialist. I said, but you need, you need something from your personality to really make this work. I said, what's your favorite movie? And she says, Peter Pan. Great. So you're going to be the pirate dentist. So she dresses up like Captain Hook. James Kademan [00:00:40]: You have found Authentic Business Adventures, the business program that brings you the struggle stories and triumphant successes of business owners across the land. We are locally underwritten by the Bank of Sun Prairie, Calls on Call Extraordinary Answering Service, The Bold Business Book, and LiveSwitch. Today we're welcoming slash preparing to learn from Vance Morris of Deliver Service Now Institute. So Vance, how is it going today? Vance Morris [00:01:09]: It is fantastic, James. Hopefully we'll drop a couple of golden nuggets today. James Kademan [00:01:14]: That's, uh, that's the goal here. So why don't we start with what is the— oh my gosh, what was it? Deliver Service Institute? Deliver Service Now Institute? Vance Morris [00:01:21]: Yep. James Kademan [00:01:22]: All right. What is that? What is that? Vance Morris [00:01:24]: That's a great question. It is a place where, um, I teach business owners, entrepreneurs, uh, really about customer retention. Cause there's a lot of gurus out there that are, you know, can give you, you know, 10,000 leads by Monday afternoon and, you know, you know, flakebook ads, Google, all that stuff. There's not a lot of folks focusing on retention. Um, and then of course, in order to have retention, you've gotta have great customer experiences. So those are the two areas that I really focus on. Um, you know, showing businesses how to— word I've been using a while is Disney-fy. So taking all of the boring mundane things that we have to do day in and day out in the business, uh, finding a way to create an experience out of them. Vance Morris [00:02:12]: So that we become memorable, uh, we're top of mind, um, and, uh, you know, people are doing that, uh, word-of-mouth marketing for us. James Kademan [00:02:22]: Nice. So tell me, how do you get involved in this? Vance Morris [00:02:26]: That's a great question. Um, well, here in Maryland, I have, uh, 3 home service businesses, so I'm, I'm not one of those consultants that have never done anything. James Kademan [00:02:36]: I read a few books, right? Vance Morris [00:02:38]: You know, yeah, you know, I went to consulting school, I got the little, you know, thing. No, it's not, not who I am. So I own 3 home service businesses here in Maryland, mold remediation company, Oriental rug washing facility, and a traditional carpet cleaning company. All very sexy businesses, I will tell you. James Kademan [00:02:56]: Yeah, super duper. Well, they're based on dirt and— Yeah, right. Vance Morris [00:03:00]: Dirt and all the good stuff. James Kademan [00:03:01]: Right. Vance Morris [00:03:03]: So, you know, I— when I started those businesses, I've had them now for 19 years. Um, I knew that I was going to be aiming for an affluent client. I didn't want to be, you know, scrubbing down and dirty rentals and things like that. I wanted to, you know, really have a premium service just like Disney, uh, for affluent clients. And so from day one, that is the direction that I went with my marketing, with the service, with the experiences. Um, after a few years, um, people started asking me, you know, Vance, you don't look like you're working too hard. Um, What's your secret? How do you do it? Um, so I said, well, it's really simple. This is actually the first thing I learned. Vance Morris [00:03:44]: I worked for Disney for 10 years. First thing I learned there was that Disney runs on systems. They got marketing systems, operation systems. You wanna learn— you wanna change a tire on a bus, they got a system for that. Carry a tray in a restaurant, they got a system for that. So all I really did was take all of that, put it into those businesses. Um,, and 7 years ago I actually was able to hire, uh, a GM and fast forward to today, I spend about 90 minutes a week on, on those 3 businesses. James Kademan [00:04:16]: Very cool. Very cool. And how do you— let's just take these one by one, cuz I imagine you didn't start all 3 of those businesses at the same time. Vance Morris [00:04:25]: Did not. James Kademan [00:04:26]: Nope. And I would imagine carpet cleaning came first. Vance Morris [00:04:29]: It did. All right. Yes. Um, and actually I, I, uh, started with a franchise. Um, you know, because I— it had a great proven concept. You know, I was new to business ownership. I'd been in, you know, corporate muckety-muck for 20-plus years. And so I needed something that had a system behind it. Vance Morris [00:04:51]: So I was with the franchise system for about 15 years and then jettisoned it and went out on my own. Along the way, you know, people— I hated walking into people's homes And stepping over things that I could be cleaning, but I didn't know how. When tile floors, wood floors, Oriental rugs. Uh, so I was like, well, might as well add Oriental rug washing. Nobody is doing it in our area. Um, and so we added that service. It was great. I already had a built-in customer base. Vance Morris [00:05:23]: All I had to do was go to them and market that service and boom, we were up and running. Um, and then about, uh, 6 years ago we added the mold company. Again, we had the existing customer base. I mean, I got 10,000 names in my database. Just had to market to them and say, hey, uh, we are now in the mold business. If you like this for cleaning, you'll love us for mold. Well, not love us, but you know what I mean? James Kademan [00:05:47]: Yeah, right. Nobody's in a good mood when they have mold. Vance Morris [00:05:50]: Nobody's in a good mood for that. James Kademan [00:05:52]: So tell me a story with, uh, franchise. Let's back up. I mean, we're talking a long time ago, so yeah, way back when machine here. How did you choose which carpet cleaning franchise to use or to join? Because there's hundreds, probably thousands of them. And that's a, that's a big, that's a big ask to figure out what you're gonna do. Cuz the equipment's expensive. The capital outlay's pretty intense. It is. James Kademan [00:06:16]: The theories and the marketing and all that kind of stuff. Some are well known, some are not. Tell me about that. Vance Morris [00:06:21]: So yeah, I worked with a, um, I didn't know these things existed, but I worked with a franchise headhunter, um, after I left corporate, uh, world. And, you know,

James Cook is one of those explorers where upon hearing his name, you gotta take a beat and try to decide if he's a real person or if you're thinking of Captain Hook from Peter Pan or Captain Cook from Breaking Bad. But don't sleep on Jimmy cause the man knew how to quest. Starting out from humble origins cutting his teeth in the coal shipping game, he learned his way around a ship and around the water. Eventually the Royal Navy came calling and he was sent to the new world during the Seven Years War and found he had a talent for cartography. A few years of honing his skills later and James found himself charged with locating the great southern continent that balanced the hemispheres. His voyages would take him around the world several times, seeing places like Tahiti, New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii, the Pacific Northwest of the United States and Canada, both circles (Antarctic and Arctic), and many others. Compared with other explorers of his era he was on the lighter side when it came to the mistreatment of indigenous people so he's got that going for him, which is nice. Hook is a wonderfully charming movie about rediscovering the joys of one's youth. That said, critics hated it when it was released in 1991, and its director, Steven Spielberg, isn't all that high on it either. The latter is a little puzzling. Sure, Hook is too long and gets oddly dark at times, but there is still so much to enjoy. Principally, both Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook and Robin Williams as Pan all grown up are just having a blast. Their performances, coupled with imaginative practical effects and the cadre of endearing Lost Boys, make this a return trip to Neverland well worth taking. Send us a textWhat happens when you swap the cola in a Long Island for Sprite, cranberry, cinnamon, and a kiss of citrus—and then hand New Year's resolutions to Disney legends? We kick off with a winter spiced Long Island inspired by Jollywood Nights, breaking down the build, the balance, and the subtle orange-cranberry glow that makes this riff dangerously sippable. Think classic structure, brighter finish, and a candied orange wheel that smells like December. With glasses clinking, we pivot into a resolution game that's equal parts nostalgia and honesty. Donald promises calm and barely survives the countdown. Ariel tackles her treasure trove with help. Belle tries fewer pages, more people. Cinderella sets her own curfew. Tiana wrestles with “healthy” in the land of gumbo. We go deeper than punchlines, exploring why some characters are primed to evolve and why others are hilariously doomed by design. Captain Hook finds peace and opens an island bar. Jack Sparrow plans to plan, then doesn't. Buzz meets gravity. Pumba embraces accountability. Scar swears off dramatic monologues—and immediately proves our point.Along the way, we rank recent holiday pours, daydream about park trips, and admit we need to level up our promos and episode lists. It's playful, a little dark around the edges, and surprisingly reflective about habit change, identity, and the rituals that help us try again. If you love Disney lore, themed cocktails, and character-driven what-ifs, you'll feel right at home.Pour the recipe, press play, and tell us which character would actually keep a resolution this year. If you enjoyed the ride, subscribe, leave a rating, and share this episode with a Disney friend who needs a laugh and a holiday sip. Cheers!

Bangarang!  Emilio, Madeline, and Julian fly, fight, and crow their way through this next "Unorthodox Holiday Movie" suggestion, and this is a special one, a movie suggested to them by multiple guests - "Hook", Steven Spielberg's take on the story of Peter Pan, released in 1991 starring Robin Williams, Dustin Hoffman, Julia Roberts and more.  The group welcomes back Tony-nominated performer, teacher, father, and "Hook" enthusiast and suggester Rob McClure to discuss this film from all angles.  How do you square your experiences with the film as a kid versus revisiting it as an adult?  Does Spielberg have good reason to dislike it?  How much Peter Pan background is needed to fully enjoy 'Hook', or does it stand alone?  The group discusses Spielberg's knack for getting great performances from children, Robin Williams' incredible range, Rufio's undeniable appeal, the elaborate sets, John Williams' underrated score, and its messages related to parenthood.  Rob even brings a robust background in the J.M. Barrie's original text (and a collectible trading card) to the conversation, and even pulls out his highlighted copy to try to get to bottom of a pressing question.  It's a great discussion about one of the 1990s most rewatched VHS tapes, and more beloved childhood favorites.        Rob McClure has earned Tony nominations for his roles in the Broadway productions of Mrs. Doubtfire and Chaplin, and has also appeared in Something Rotten!, Mary Poppins, Hello Dolly, Beetlejuice, and many more productions On- and Off-Broadway. Send us a textWhat happens when the magic of Disney collides with the reality of shared living spaces? Grab your favorite drink (we're sipping on a highbrow batanga from Epcot's Geo 82) and join us for a hilarious journey through the ultimate roommate nightmares – Disney edition!Ever wondered if Donald Duck's temper tantrums would shake your apartment walls? Or if Cruella de Vil would turn your living room into her personal runway, complete with suspicious "dog visitors"? We've imagined it all so you don't have to experience it firsthand. From Oaken's perpetually wet floors to Simba's descent into "Hakuna Matata" irresponsibility after falling in with the wrong crowd, we explore the good, the bad, and the downright impossible living situations. Some roommate disasters are predictable – like Hades cranking the thermostat to a literal 200 degrees for his "mini hell parties" – while others surprise you, like Ariel's kleptomania for "thingamajigs" or Captain Hook's 2 AM shadow-fighting sessions. Whether it's Genie's constant impressions making work-from-home impossible or Buzz Lightyear's chronic late rent payments, these beloved characters would likely have you changing the locks or sneaking out in the middle of the night. Not all Disney roommates would be nightmares though! We also highlight the few characters who might actually make decent housemates – at least until their quirks inevitably drive you to seek new accommodations. After listening, you'll never look at your favorite Disney characters the same way again, and you might just appreciate your real-life roommates a little more!Share your thoughts on which Disney character would make your nightmare roommate list, and don't forget to subscribe for more imaginative Disney discussions that blend fantasy with our everyday reality! Here's who we are and what is in store for you

Pastor Greg Laurie sits down with rock icon Alice Cooper to trace his journey from shock-rock superstardom to a surrendered life in Christ. Cooper explains how the “Alice” persona was a theatrical villain—“Captain Hook” to everyone's Peter Pan—while real life offstage spiraled into alcohol and drugs. At his lowest, doctors warned he had about a month to live, and he recalls terrifying moments like seeing “blood coming out of my eyes.” Returning to the faith of his youth, he says Jesus is “everything,” the only answer fame and excess couldn't provide. Now long-sober, Cooper draws a clear line between the stage character and his Christian convictions, refuses to glamorize evil, and channels his influence into ministry work like Phoenix's The Rock Teen Center to give kids hope and purpose. He closes by urging listeners: if the Lord is knocking, answer. Jaggy and I thank you for tuning in and SHARING!

Everyone knows Captain Hook got swallowed by the crocodile at the end of Peter Pan. But what this movie presupposes is…maybe he didn't? Let us go back to a time when the coolest thing a kid could have was a clubhouse that looked like a skatepark…when the worst thing a dad could do was own a cell phone…and when the craziest thing a filmmaker could do was agree to make a movie that started off as a child's drawing. Lin-Manuel Miranda - most famous for starring as Captain Hook in his sixth grade production of Peter Pan - joins us on a trip to Neverland as we unpack Spielberg's 1991 fantasia Hook.
