t's Friday the 13th and we all know what that means — unlucky occurrences like tripping over your shoelaces, knocking over glasses, and waking up after your alarm are just a few of the possible horrors the superstitious among us believe are likely to happen on this infamously bad luck ridden day. Whatever you do on that day, don't walk under a ladder, cross paths with a black cat, or break a mirror! There's no telling what tragedy could result. What gives on this weird superstition? No, it doesn't have anything to do with the Knights Templar. Historically, 13 has long been considered an unlucky number. There also developed the idea of Friday being unlucky. Then Thomas Lawson combined them in his 1907 novel Friday the Thirteenth, and popular culture took over from there. It happens when the 13th day of the month falls on a Friday, which can happen up to three times in a year. There are only two Friday the 13ths in 2023 and we got the first out of the way on Jan. 13. Many people have mixed feelings about this specific date and view it as an unlucky day, especially if they're superstitious. However, if you're someone who fully embraces the day's spooky vibes with open arms, you'll need a Friday the 13th wrap up to caption all your hauntingly wonderful vibes. Are you superstitious?
