It is impossible to have a horror podcast and not talk about ‘Friday the 13th' and ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street'. And most of our time has been spent wondering how there has not been a new entry in either of the fan favorite franchises for decades. We finally have a little bit of news on both of them. We also talk about the surprising success of Widow's Bay. If you take a 10,000 foot view of Rubberhead: The Life and Monsters of Steve Johnson, you will think you know exactly what it is about. And you would not be completely wrong. The documentary surprised us by being one of the most emotional and information watches we have ever had. If you grew up as a horror fan in the 1980s or early 90s, chances are you have seen Johnson's work. He invented Slimer, worked on ‘Species', created the arms for Doctor Octopus in ‘Spider-Man 2', and worked on the still outstanding special effects for ‘An American Werewolf in London'. And that is just the very tip of the iceberg. But along with being an incredible genius, he is also incredibly self-destructive. This makes Rubberhead one of the most frustrating watches of the year. Hello and welcome to July. Well we finally did it, we watched the 1980's Friday the 13th. Cyndi somehow being from New Jersey had never seen this seminal slasher film and the reason for the summer camp slasher craze of the 80s. However, did we like it? Did it scare her to death? Jason is back, and this is the one you've been screaming for. It's both Ben and Lance's birthday month, so we picked a very special theme for July: Freddy and Jason July! Two Freddy movies. In this episode, Sidney kicks off Summer Horror month by breaking down the first three movies in the Friday the 13th franchise, Friday the 13th (1980), Friday the 13th Part II (1981), and Friday the 13th Part III: 3-D (1982).

As we geeky dads prepare for our summer break, we thought it would be a great opportunity to pit two titans of summer camp horror against each other. This week, we will be pitting Friday the 13th against Sleepaway Camp in a slasher mano -a- mano SLUG-fest! Both of these summer slasher flicks take place at a seemingly serene summer camp until a sinister somebody starts slashing and slaying their way through campers and councilors alike (depending on the film in question of course)! Today a boat trip is in order as we look at one of the most confusing and possibly the worst instalment in the Friday the 13th franchise.When a new group of teens head to New York on a luxury cruise ship called the Lazarus to celebrate their graduation they are not alone.Jason has stowed away, as has his toxic avenger looking child spirit. Now with what appears to be the ability to fully teleport Jason takes out as many teens as he can before they reach their final destination. We will give some credit as the shots in Time Square are iconic but the rest of this movie is a really boring watch.Thankfully in it being so atrocious we do have a lot to talk about.
