Friday the 13th 2 is a 1981 American slasher film produced and directed by Steve Miner in his directorial debut, and written by Ron Kurz. It is the sequel to Friday the 13th (1980), and the second installment in the franchise. Adrienne King, Betsy Palmer, and Walt Gorney reprise their respective roles from the first film as Alice Hardy, Pamela Voorhees, and Crazy Ralph. Amy Steel and John Furey also star. Taking place five years after the first film, Part 2 follows a similar premise, with an unknown stalker killing a group of camp counselors at a training camp near Crystal Lake. The film marks the debut of Jason Voorhees as the series' main antagonist. Henry Manfredini returned to compose the film's score If you have anything to add to the discussion, please don't hesitate to do so by reaching out to us on social media @TheFilmFlamers, or call our hotline and leave us a message at 972-666-7733! Lee is joined by returning guests and good friends Greg and Nick to cover the first 5 films in the "Friday the 13th" franchise. General things they liked and didn't like, best kills, and the overall direction of the series up to that point are talked about. And, because they are all red-blooded Canadian men, they drool a bit over the lovely ladies of the series. It ends up making for a fun and breezy 2hr conversation. Don't fuck, don't do drugs, and stay the fuck away from camp, and instead just listen to us talk about one of the ultimate examples of cinematic junk food. This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Becky & Scott back on the show to discuss the 1985 slasher flick, Friday the 13th, Part V: A New Beginning. We dip our toes back into the waters of Crystal Lake (although this might not take place anywhere near Crystal Lake) as we discuss the New Beginning of the Friday franchise. The body count is insane in this one, as they introduce tons of people just to kill them in the same scene. The weather of course is rainy (it doesn't rain this much in Jersey) and the mystery of who the killer is keeps us gripped to the screen until the very end. If you don't want to be spoiled, don't look at the title of Part VI. Enjoy the podcast!
The Five Count recently had a chance to speak with actor C.J. Graham. C.J. is best known for his role as "Jason Voorhees" in the film Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives. He also appeared in the film Highway to Hell and Alice Cooper's He's Back (The Man Behind the Mask) music video. Welcome back, campers! Grab your machetes, hide your chocolate bars, and definitely don't wander off alone into the woods, because in this week's episode we're diving headfirst into one of the weirdest and most controversial entries in the Friday the 13th franchise: Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning. That's right—Jason Voorhees is dead (allegedly), but that doesn't mean the body count is slowing down. In fact, the only thing multiplying faster than the kills in this movie is the confusion over who's actually doing the killing. Spoiler: it's not who you think… and also not who you want it to be.This episode, we're strapping on our camp counselor whistles and taking you on a tour through the asylum of Tommy Jarvis's post-trauma psyche. Poor Tommy just wanted a little peace and quiet, but instead he gets a halfway house full of characters who feel like they wandered in from completely different movies: there's the leather-clad greasers who look like they took a wrong turn out of Grease 2, the random angry redneck mom screaming at her son to shovel chicken slop, and of course the infamous chocolate-bar-swinging Joey who manages to meet one of the most absurdly brutal fates in horror history. We break it all down—every bizarre subplot, every head-scratching creative choice, and every death scene that makes you go, “Wait, why did that just happen?”But don't worry, we're not just roasting this movie (though it deserves a good roasting). We're also giving it its due credit: the kills are plentiful, the sleaze is cranked up to eleven, and there's a weird charm in its chaotic energy. From garden shears to road flares, Part V is basically a slasher smorgasbord where no weapon is off-limits. We even get one of the most outrageous outhouse scenes in horror history—seriously, has there ever been a scarier place to sing along to yourself while doing your business? Probably not.And then, of course, there's the big reveal: the “mystery killer.” Was anyone buying it? Did anyone walk out of the theater thinking, “Wow, what a satisfying twist!” Or was it more like, “Wait, who the hell was that guy again?” We'll talk about the Scooby-Doo-level unmasking, why fans at the time were furious, and whether or not Friday the 13th really needed a “new beginning” that turned out to be more like a weird detour. Throughout the episode, we sprinkle in some laughs, some chills, and some genuine appreciation for this much-maligned entry. Because here's the thing: while A New Beginning might not have Jason in it (unless you count dream sequences and hallucinations), it's still a fascinating time capsule of mid-80s slasher excess. The film is sleazy, cheesy, over-the-top, and occasionally so bad it circles back around to being good. And really, isn't that what we love about horror in the first place? So tune in as we unpack the madness. We'll share our favorite kills, our least favorite characters (sorry, Joey), and even debate whether this movie would have been better if Jason had been resurrected in true supernatural fashion. We'll also touch on how Part V paved the way for the next chapter (Jason Lives), where the franchise finally embraced its undead campfire legend status. In the end, A New Beginning may not be the most beloved Friday installment, but it's definitely one of the most unforgettable—and we had a blast hacking our way through it.So grab your sleeping bag, keep your eyes peeled for ambulance drivers with suspicious motives, and join us around the campfire (or maybe just the nearest porta-potty) as we relive the madness of Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning. Remember: in the woods, no one can hear you scream… but they can definitely hear you singing in the outhouse.

The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds and Scott Eklund - were at Washington's 13th fall practice early Friday morning, held inside the Dempsey due to rainy skies. With Jedd Fisch and the UW coaches now firmly in 'game week' mode, the practice was more of a one where the Huskies did their work in shoulder pads and shorts, working on cleaning things up and installing more things UW fans can expect to see Saturday night during their second 'mock game' of fall camp. They talked about what they saw on both sides of the line of scrimmage, but three main storylines on offense caught a lot of their attention. The first was the return of Denzel Boston was a focal point, as was the return of another receiver, Dezmen Roebuck, who missed Thursday's practice. The second storyline; how much will Roebuck play this year? Is he a certainly to burn his redshirt? And the other storyline that has certainly developed over the course of fall is the battle at left guard between Paki Finau and John Mills. The redshirt frosh had the job at the end of spring, but the true freshman Mills has continued to just get better and better by the practice to where it's now basically a dead heat between the two. The battle has been at a point now where the coaches alternate series between Finau and Mills with the first team. And an additional subplot; who makes up the full 8-man rotation? The guys feel good about the first six (the four constant starters plus Finau/Mills) but who are shoe-ins for those other two slots? All the competition is simply showing the Huskies are in a great spot heading into Saturday's mock game, even if today's practice was the 13th. And even if it did take place on a Friday. Author Julie Hiner mixes heavy metal with Killers and Demons. Shane Kroetsch gets prophetic with his pandemic horror series of novels and his short story Daniel will get under your skin. Ron Sloan gets unhinged after dying in Friday the 13th Part V: A New beginning. Tiffany Helm is still running from unstoppable slashers and now has to contend with killer cats. On today's Free Swim, we are joined by Chief and Danny. We start with a sad realization that summer is almost over (1:52), and then switch gears to talking about swearing to god and lying (4:43). Next we get into a deep discussion about unlucky number 13, our weird superstitions, and the history behind them (7:55). Then we tell the story of Chief's infamous peanut butter cup curse (19:55). We also talk about Saint Anthony and the roles of other saints (23:42). Next we get into our on the leash / off the leash segment where we discuss showing up to places right before closing (26:28) which results into a much needed shoutout to service workers (40:33).You can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. Amy had to spin the wheel of punishment. What awful thing will she have to do after spoiling yet another TV show. Will she get the one she hates the most: an Olive smoothie with pickle juice?!?! It's Friday the 13th and Bobby was convinced something was going to die. He shared the origin of its superstition and 5 crazy things in history that have happened on Friday the 13th. In Easy Trivia, Amy and Lunchbox are both one win away from the championship. Can one of them bring it home or will Abby or Morgan shut down their hopes and dreams of placing the tiara on their head?See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
