Only one more sleep before we head to Cadott! VERY excited to get out of town for a few days & party it up with a bunch of our friends & listeners! In fact, we had a Rock Fest preview this morning…looking over the line-up and all the other stuff that'll be happening later this week. In the news this morning, a woman in Wisconsin was attacked by a bear over the weekend, the victims in that double homicide in Middleton were identified, a recall on water bottles sold at Walmart, and the cost of tomatoes is likely to skyrocket. Happy Friday, yo! Planning to have a nice, relaxing weekend before getting pummeled at Rock Fest next week! Thankfully, it looks like it's going to be very comfortable in Cadott for most of the time we're there. We started the morning off with a few "holidays", including National Mojito Day, National Blueberry Muffin Day, and French Fry Day! We talked about some of the French Fry deals you can take advantage of today, along with some stats & info about our consumption of fries in America. Doc joined us to talk racing thanks to County Materials in Holmen, and we checked out the celebration of Moo Deng's first birthday! Can you imagine the rest of the trip after this guy forgot his wife at a gas station? A recent poll discovered that a lot of us are self-conscious about our feet. Plus, stories about a couple having sex while driving an RV down the road, a guy who only steals right shoes(no lefts), another person got busted with drugs inside a bag that was labeled "Definitely NOT a bag of drugs", and a very interesting billboard has popped up in the Cleveland area that is angering some residents.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Lead vocalist Connie Sgarbossa, a transgender singer, has announced her intention to leave the band due to ongoing controversies15. The decision stems from a recent tour announcement with Dance Gavin Dance, which sparked backlash from fans who viewed it as hypocritical given the band's previous stance on similar issues. Sgarbossa expressed her disagreement with the tour decision and cited a "lack of urgency on issues" she had been raising within the band45.

Casandra Carson stops by on a tour stop to discuss her latest endeavor, Casandra's Crossing. This is an album that she released on the day the show was recorded with George Lynch. This is a fantastic new album that compliments the work she does with Paralandra very well. Check out the music she has out, catch her on the road, and support musicians by checking out their store with the links below:Listen to Casandra's Crossing: Click HereListen to Paralandra: Click HereCheck out Paralandra on the road: Click HereBuy Paralandra merch: Click HereParalandra Bio:Paralandra hails from Springfield, Missouri, and formed in the summer of 2013 when Casandra Carson and her dad, Paul Carson, began writing songs together to play a one-time event at their local county 4th of July celebration. The response was so positive, and they enjoyed it so much, they decided to continue booking shows and writing songs. They recorded and released a homemade CD titled Rise Up; which sold over 1,000 copies at local shows. Shortly after, friend and local musician, Sawyer Rikard, joined the band on bass guitar in 2015, bringing their stage sound and performance to another level. In March of 2016, they released a follow-up EP, All Fall Down, which debuted #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. They soon began touring and being invited to festivals such as Rocklahoma, SXSW, Rockfest, Dirtfest, Loud in Lima, etc.In 2018, they joined forces with Legend Recordings, and released another EP, Ascension, which became their biggest release yet with singles “Back to Life” and “Killer Queen” landing on the radio. Shortly after, they added local powerhouse drummer (and childhood friend of Sawyer), Dakota Watson, to form the rhythm section Casandra, Paul, and Sawyer had always dreamed of. In 2019, they recorded standalone single “Love Will Win” with producer/videographer, Jake Jones, which gained even more radio play, and placed them on numerous national tours; supporting artists such as Tantric, Saliva, Yngwie Malmsteen, Dokken, and being added to the KISS Kruise and NAMM Show. The band continued to write, record, livestream, and perform wherever they could during the 2020 pandemic, and only continued to gain traction and fans from all over the world. Reaching out on a whim, they won over the attention of renowned producer/songwriter, Elvis Baskette, and shortly thereafter, entered the studio to record their first professionally made, full length album, Street Magic, in 2021. This release proved to be a monumental success, skyrocketing their audience with over 5 million views and streams across all platforms. Radio singles from this release alone include “For the Record”, “Despicable”, “Repeat Offender”, “Can't Quench the Fire”, and “Only Human”.Paralandra has since toured the country on multiple headlining runs, and is constantly supporting iconic bands such as Warrant, Lita Ford, Firehouse, Last in Line, and countless others with no end in sight. They reentered the studio with Elvis Baskette in 2023 and recorded their 2nd studio album, which is due April 4, 2024. They plan for this release to be just as big, if not bigger than the last, as they continue to record, write, tour, and work tirelessly to build their brand, and change the direction of rock music to be a force for good in this world.

Here comes the rain. Looks like it's going to be an extremely wet weekend with showers & thunderstorms in the forecast. Jean's out today to visit a few college campuses in the Madison area with her daughter, but Brian & Shaw started the day talking about the strange monolith that was just discovered in the Vegas area. The "Tribute to the Negro Leagues" game was last night between the Cardinals & Giants, and Reggie "Mr. October" Jackson had a very impactful interview regarding his time with the Birmingham A's in the 1960's. Let you know what's on TV this weekend & what's new in theaters, and we had a great story about a TikTok dude who helped an elementary school in Mississippi hand out free lunches to their students throughout the summer months. Interesting study from Expedia that found Americans not only get fewer vacation days than any other country in the world, but we also take less of those vacation days. The Olympic trials continue on NBC this weekend, and there's already been a couple of freak accidents to some potential Olympians. Played some Atreyu this morning. Looking forward to seeing them at Rock Fest in about a month, and also talked about the upcoming "Neverending Story" sequels. Had to talk about the great Donald Sutherland, who just passed away at the age of 88. And we took a look at things that happened just five years ago, but feel like they happened an eternity ago. Got Doc's racing report and during today's "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a recall on coffee mugs, an elk poacher who got in big trouble, a country that might start charging politicians that knowingly lie with a crime, a TikTok mom who uses Velcro to keep her kid on the seat on the plane, a woman who tried to sue her ex-bf because he didn't take her to the airport, a wedding gown that caught fire mid-ceremony, and a politician in Michigan who got in trouble with a "dancer" at 2:30 in the morning! You may remember a band called Sleep Signals, if not that's OK, they broke up last year. But, lead singer Robert Cosgrove is back with a new project called Eyes Like Midnight. It's a completely different take on the kind of music Robert loves to create and with no rules in place, they are set to make their mark on the unsuspecting rock world. This band is so new they haven't even played a major concert yet. That changes at this year's Rockfest in Cadott, WI which is only 30 minutes from where Robert grew up. Yes, that means we are both Wisconsin boys, so you know I had to shed some homestate love. Don't sleep (no pun intended) on this new band. It's time for some new music discovery with Robert Cosgrove of Eyes Like Midnight.
Happy Thursday! Started you off with the Thursday Song and we recapped the NBA & NHL playoff action. Plus, the latest update on Scottie Scheffler. Also, Brian fan-girled about American shot-putter, Ryan Crouser! In case you missed it, we're taking a bus from both La Crosse & Eau Claire to Target Field on July 21st to see the Brewers/Twins game. Get all the info at WiscoTrips.com Today is International Hug Your Cat Day, and it's also a good day to hear about a skydiver who got stuck in a tree, but was rescued by some firefighters. Reminisced about some of the years we've spent at Rock Fest and looked ahead to this summer's line up. Do you clean your house BEFORE you go on vacation? Most people do, according to this survey. People are always looking for a new sport, like Pickleball or maybe Roof Ball! During today's "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about election fatigue, a #FloridaWoman who is suing the cops, a guy who fell into a running aircraft engine, a whale that washed up on a shore in Oregon, a guy in Japan who spent $14,000 on a dog costume, a guy who got caught driving while his license was suspended, people in nursing homes area being encouraged to have more sex, and North Korea is sending poop balloons across the border. We're back from our short spring hiatus this week with a very special conversation featuring my friend & occasional co-host, the wonderful Senior Vice President of The Black List, Kate Hagen. Joining us today are two of our favorite women & returning guests, the fabulous writer-director, cinephile, & retired professor Allison Anders, & her incredibly in-demand music supervisor daughter Tiffany Anders. Allison, of course, is the great filmmaker behind such contemporary classics as GAS FOOD LODGING, MI VIDA LOCA, GRACE OF MY HEART, & THINGS BEHIND THE SUN, & Tiffany Anders is the tastemaker & music supervisor behind RESERVATION DOGS, PEN15, & BEEF. Passionate about music - especially rock & its intersection with film - they're here today to tell us all about the upcoming triumphant return of their beloved early aught Los Angeles-based film festival Don't Knock the Rock (aka DKTR), which showcases hard-to-see & overlooked music documentaries & rock classics & boasts Master Classes, Special Guests, discussions with filmmakers, & more. This year's festival is particularly exciting because it has both an in-person component at the American Cinematheque Los Feliz 3, which runs from May 23-27, & a streaming festival hosted by Cineville from May 23-July 31 that everyone can access. Filled with stories about music, movies, records, LA, & more, this breezy, infectiously delightful discussion is a perfect summery weekend listen! Welcome to Good Friday!! We started things off this morning with a discussion about our upcoming Easter meals, and we recapped last night's NCAA Sweet 16 action. Let you know what's on TV & in theaters this weekend, and we talked about the line-up for the Bonus Bash at Rock Fest this July. Can't wait! Had a cool story about a Pirates pitcher who's going to be making a $100 donation to the Gary Sinise Foundation for every strikeout he throws this season, and a nice story about a couple in California who thought a wolf had wandered onto their property, only to realize it was a husky named Balto that they're going to adopt! We ran down some stats & info on Easter, including the best Easter candies, and we shared the news about David Portnoy from BarstoolSports.com raising a bunch of money for a slain NYPD officer. Also got an update from Wendy's on their supposed "surge pricing" Played Gary's F'ING song this morning & he scored a $25 Downtown Mainstreet gift card thanks to Niki Paisley, your C21 affiliated realtor. Request your F'ING songs on our app or website! We talked about the camping at Rock Fest being in short supply, and we shared a nice story about dog that was reunited with it's owner after going missing for five years!!! There's apparently a large group of leap-day babies that have been going on cruises with other leap-day babies for the last few years. We gave you a list of things to look forward to in the month of March, and Brian tried a new way to peel a tangerine. Shared a list of Leap Day deals for some national chains, and we also got an update on the cause of that fight between Cam Newton & several other people at a youth football camp. We had the pleasure of interviewing Sleep Theory over Zoom video!Breakout four-piece Sleep Theory — vocalist Cullen Moore, guitarist Daniel Pruitt, bassist Paolo Vergara, and drummer Ben Pruitt — have shared the video for "Fallout" from their Paper Hearts EP, out now via the Epitaph Records. Get the EP, which has been streamed over 33 million times. The video features intense performance footage colliding with equally intense apocalyptic imagery, both of which fit the urgency of the song. It's a continuation of the end-of-the-world theme seen in the video for "Numb.""Creating 'Fallout' was a very personal for us, and seeing the music video come to life was surreal," the band states. "The emotion in the track is something we poured our hearts into, and we're thrilled that it resonates so powerfully with our fans. [Director] Orie [McGuiness] took our vision and elevated it beyond expectations. The way the music video captures the essence of the song is amazing. We truly couldn't have asked for a better visual representation for this song."Sleep Theory will hit the road on a 40-date trek with Beartooth, The Plot In You, and Invent Animate in Winter 2024. Since bursting onto the scene earlier this year, Sleep Theory have gone from strength to strength — and they show no signs of slowing down. The Paper Hearts EP features two buzzy singles — "Numb" and "Gone or Staying" — and the songs have established Sleep Theory as one of the most exciting and talked about artists of 2023. The band was praised by Loudwire for its ability to "adapt 2000s arena rock and nu-metal for the future with their anthemic metal-tinged sound that would please any fan of Linkin Park and their ilk. At once enthralling, emotional and disarming, SleepTheory's supercharged single 'Numb' is everything a radio rock fan could want. You'll be humming it for days after."With further press coverage from American Songwriter, Billboard, Celebrity Access, Punktastic, and beyond, as well as major nods from SiriusXM's Octane, Sleep Theory have had a huge 2023 and are clearly gearing up for an even bigger 2024.In just the past three months, Sleep Theory's monthly listeners have more than doubled, while their YouTube channel views have tripled. They are averaging 1.5 million streams per week, while "Numb" is sitting at No. 16 on the Active Rock chart and continues to climb. The track was No. 1 on on Sirius XM Octane, while the band was the first rock artist included in SiriusXM/Pandora's Artist Accelerator program and will be a part of the Next Wave Concert Series this month. They've toured with everyone from Shinedown to Set It Off, shared stages with I Prevail and Badflower, and have appeared at Louder Than Life, Rock Fest, ShipRockled, and Point Fest. They also count Jellyroll and Disturbed David Draiman as fans.We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing SAUL over Zoom video!Saul issue a call for connection in their music. The Iowa quartet—brothers Blake Bedsaul [lead vocals] and Zach Bedsaul [lead guitar, backup vocals], William McIlravy [bass, backup vocals], and Myles Clayborne [drums]—continue to bring audiences together with a one-two punch of precise and pummeling metallic grooves and towering magnetic melodies. Amassing tens of millions of streams and earning acclaim from Revolver, Guitar World, Loudwire, and many more, the group fortify an unbreakable bond with listeners on their second full-length offering, THIS IS IT…THE END OF EVERYTHING [Spinefarm].Saul emerged out of the Midwest in 2017 and tirelessly bulldozed a path to the forefront of modern rock. They notably performed alongside everyone from Motionless In White, Atreyu, August Burns Red, Crown The Empire, Bush, and 10 Years to HELLYEAH and Nonpoint in addition to gracing the stages of festivals, including Rebel Rock, Rock Fest, Rock USA, Inkcarceration, and Blue Ridge Rock Fest with Rob Zombie, Mudvayne, and Slipknot. The group independently landed a bona fide hit in the form of “Brother”—an homage to the co-founders' late brother Caleb. It marked their first #1 on Sirius/XM Octane in addition to gathering over 9 million Spotify streams and paving the way for their 2020 full-length debut, Rise As Equals. Co-written with David Draiman of Disturbed, “King Of Misery” reeled in 3.7 million Spotify streams, while “Trial By Fire” also surpassed 3 million Spotify streams. Of the former, American Songwriter praised“‘King of Misery' wasted no time jumping into the heavy mainstream riffs that Saul set out to wrangle,” and Outburn hailed its “futuristic and cinematic video.”Expanding the sonic palette, the guys collaborated with producer Kile Odell [Motionless In White, Nita Strauss] this time around. They initially teased this chapter with “JACK & JILL,” which tempers a hypnotic harmony with a heavy groove. On its heels, they unleashed the single “A MILLION MILES.” Co-written with Johnny Andrews [Three Days Grace, Starset, Theory of a Deadman], a seesawing riff and electrifying melody give way to a chant-able chorus laced with raw emotion befitting of the central theme.Hummable keys set the tone for “RUNAWAY,” dissolving into a harmonic riff. The breathy verses break like a wave on a refrain tailor-made for a live singalong, “Treat me like a runaway, because I'm vanishing. I don't think I'll be missed.”An ominous sample snaps into a pummeling chug on the opener “TOOTH & NAIL.” Clean vocals snake through the verses towards a warning, “There's no escape.”Then, there's “BETTER AS A MEMORY.” It swings between schizophrenic extremes highlighted by unpredictable instrumental dynamics and a heart-wrenching vocal performance, “Deep down you know, I'd be better as a memory.”In the end, Saul create the soundtrack for breaking free.We want to hear from you! Today is the 40th anniversary of the US Festival and what better guest to have on the show than Mike Levine of Triumph who played on this very day 40 years ago along with Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Ozzy, Judas Priest, Scorpions and Van Halen. I was there and I will tell you this I will never forget it. I consider the US Festival the greatest Rock Fest every besides Woodstock. Triumph has just released this concert on Vinyl and I can't recommend it enough. The US Festival is criminally underrated and I feel it should get way more glory. I hope you enjoy this episode. Lots of new tour dates are up on my website https://www.deandelray.com/ And tons of Bonus Episodes of Let There Be Talk can be heard on my Patreon https://www.patreon.com/DeanDelray Have a great week DDR
