While the gossip and transfer rumours circulate, we offer an antidote to all of that, and possibly one for the kit nerds, as Tom Newton meets Mark Green (@nottmforestshirts on Instagram), an avid Reds fan and a collector of Forest shirts home and away over the last 40-something years. Tom and Mark discuss what makes a good home shirt - is it a bad thing to have black on there ? What is the classic away colour for Forest - white or yellow? How much does the sponsor make the shirt, and do we revise our opinions of a kit based upon the success or failures of that season? Finally, as a kit geek, we ask Mark to select the top three footy shirts of his lifetime. Thanks to Mark for joining us - still to come over the summer, we will bring you some more interviews with legendary Forest players, and will have roundups of the confirmed transfer activity, before we report back for pre-season in a few weeks' time! E no contexto ambiental?
Canadian born human rights lawyer, Stephanie Case, went viral online when she finished first place in the women's section of the Snowdonia ultra-trail 100km race despite giving birth six months ago and breastfeeding her daughter at aid stations. Stephanie tells Nuala McGovern about her first race as a mother and first competition in three years and why she chose to continue to do the things she loves after becoming a mum.In 2015, 22-year-old Alice Figueiredo took her own life whilst being treated at Goodmayes Hospital, east London. Over the course of her 5 month stay at the mental health unit she attempted suicide on 18 separate occasions. Following a seven-month trial at the Old Bailey, a jury found that not enough was done by the North East London Foundation NHS Trust, or ward manager Benjamin Aninakwa, to prevent Alice from killing herself. Alice's mum, Jane Figueiredo, has spent the last decade fighting to get the case to court. She discusses the impact it has had on her family. This week it was announced by Deloitte that the total revenues of Women's Super League (WSL) football clubs grew by 34 per cent to £65m in the 2023-24 season and are tipped to hit £100m for the first time next year. But while the four biggest-earning clubs generated most of the WSL revenue and the average WSL team's revenue increased there remains a yawning gap between the top and bottom teams. At the same time average attendances in the Women's Super League dropped by 10% last season compared with the previous campaign. To unpick this mixed picture we hear from Dr Christina Philippou, Associate Professor of Sports Finance at the University of Portsmouth.A new Cambridge University report published today calls on public health bodies like the NHS to offer apps that rival private FemTech services to prevent policing of reproductive choices. They are calling for better governance of the industry to protect users of cycle tracking apps (CTAs) when their data can be collected and sold at scale. This episode of the podcast is a special discussion connected to our upcoming event, Africa–Asia: A New Axis of Knowledge, which will take place in Dakar from June 11-14. Because not everyone will be able to join us in person, we thought it would be meaningful to bring you some of the conversations and ideas that have inspired this third edition of the event – previously held in Ghana (2015) and Tanzania (2018). In anticipation of the event, Laura Erber speaks with three guests about the Conference-Festival model and some of the key themes and ideas that inspire it. In different ways, each of the three guests approach their work in a way that embodies the transregional and culturally engaged dimensions of the event. First, Fatima Bintou Rassoul Sy is Director of Programs at RAW Material Company in Dakar. Second, Chương-Đài Võ is an independent curator and professor at the École Supérieure d'Art in Paris-Cergy, and she is also the lead curator of the ConFest artistic program. Finally, Fabio Baqueiro Figueiredo is an historian and professor at the Federal University of Bahia in Salvador, Brazil. Together, they have an interdisciplinary conversation about festivals, conferences, and cultural events rooted in the Global South – especially those inspired by the idea of non-alignment. We'll look at historical milestones like the 1955 Bandung Conference and FESTAC 77, as well as more recent initiatives, to reflect on how such gatherings create space for cultural, political, and social expression outside dominant power structures – and what kind of genuine alternatives they might offer today in different contexts. Despite the monumental achievement of European football, there was a palpable sense of disappointment at the City Ground as the Reds failed to qualify for the Champions' League, even though other results went the way that we needed them to. In truth, Chelsea had the extra nous to get over the line, and Chris Wood missed two very preventable chances in a match where neither keeper was particularly tested. Steven Toplis and Tom Newton pick themselves up to analyse the game and we are joined by Nick from That Chelsea Podcast for a view from the opposition. UFC Des Moines is in the books, and I break down Reinier de Ridder vs. Bo Nickal—including whether it's fair to call Nickal overrated, how high de Ridder should climb in the rankings after his win, and my issue with Nickal's approach. Also, what's next for Cory Sandhagen after defeating Deiveson Figueiredo? Then, Charles Oliveira's coach says Oliveira would prefer a fight with Ilia Topuria over Islam Makhachev—I'll tell you why I like that idea. Plus, as we gear up for UFC 315 this weekend, I explain why Jack Della Maddalena is playing with house money. And some rare public comments from Arman Tsarukyan, who revealed he turned down a rematch with Mateusz Gamrot. And finally, I'm keeping my feud with Deontay Wilder alive as he continues to promote a crossover MMA/boxing match with Francis Ngannou. In this episode of Bring the Pain, I reviewed my articles from the weekend as well as the Fight Club of Pain from Thursday. We had another monumental episode as we discussed fight theory and how it could lead to a few upsets. That's when Dan and I recommend hedging with a couple of bets that had odds over +2300. Now that's a bold pick, but that's nothing bolder than what we have been delivering in the Fight Club as well as the Five-tastic Picks. I also talk about all of my football shows changing since I'll be doing UFC coverage from now on. That means you'll have to listen to my podcasts to get all of my plays as opposed to last year, where I rolled both shows or within 24 hours. In the end, I reveal what sets us apart from other fight shows since Dan was a former boxer, and I'm currently one of the top point fighters in my age group, in the Tri-State area. After that, I finished up things by talking about the Battle of Pennsylvania karate tournament that my team and I went to this weekend. This episode is a little longer, but I had a lot to cover, so buckle up because I was jacked up for this one since it was my birthday when I recorded this. Have a great day, everyone, and may the fights be with you.

I become a big critic of fighters and coaches after watching UFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs Figueiredo, so I fully aware of my Monday morning quarterbacking. Cory Sandhagen did everything in his power Saturday to prove he deserves bantamweight title consideration. In the UFC Des Moines main event, Sandhagen dominated two-time flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and looked to be cruising to a decision or a clean finish when the bout was stopped just before the end of Round 2 due to a Figueiredo injury. Even with that unfortunate ending, there should be no question Sandhagen is worthy of a championship shot. But does the UFC see him as the No. 1 contender? On an all-new edition of On To the Next One, Alexander K. Lee goes solo to discuss what's next for Sandhagen with bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili set to defend in a rematch against Sean O'Malley at UFC 316 on June 7. Additionally, future matchups are discussed for Reinier de Ridder after he humbled Bo Nickal, what to do with Nickal following his first loss in MMA, veteran welterweight Daniel Rodriguez, main card bantamweight winners Montel Jackson and Serhey Sidey, and the returning Mason Jones. Plus, some great listener picks to round out an otherwise dreary combat sports weekend. Follow Mike Heck: @m_heckjr Follow Alexander K.
