Did Michael Jackson fake his iconic high-pitched voice? Eyewitness reporter Wendy Burch was inside the 2005 trial, and she just revealed the chilling courtroom testimony the public was never meant to hear.Netflix's "Michael Jackson: The Verdict" brought the trial back into the spotlight, but it missed the most disturbing revelations from inside the Santa Maria courthouse. In this episode of TZ Scandal, Tom Zenner and Kato Kaelin sit down with veteran Los Angeles TV reporter Wendy Burch, who sat directly behind Jackson during the trial. Wendy breaks down the exact moment the trial exposed Jackson's carefully manufactured public persona—including security guard testimony detailing Jackson's actual "low baritone" voice, the bizarre deliveries made to his triple-locked bedroom, and the staggering visual evidence that left those inside the courtroom absolutely convinced of his guilt. This is not a documentary recap. This is an unfiltered, firsthand eyewitness account of what happened when the cameras were turned off.IN THIS EPISODE: • Michael Jackson's real voice exposed: The security guard testimony • The horrifying reality of the triple-locked Neverland bedroom • What Netflix's "Michael Jackson: The Verdict" completely missed • The timeline of grooming and the visual evidence of the accusers • The infamous Pajama Day stunt and Tom Mesereau's defense strategy • Why the jury ultimately acquitted him despite the evidence Disclaimer: Michael Jackson was acquitted in 2005 and legally found not guilty. The opinions expressed in this episode are the personal perspectives of the guests and hosts based on their experience, commentary, and interpretation of the trial.
Braga, King, and Ski talk about the third installment in the Twisted Childhood Universe, Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare. It's a flat out horror movie about a guy who kills and kidnaps kids and happens to be named Peter. It's brutal in a lot of ways. Is it any good? Listen!

What does cracking open green-shiny rocks in a German preschool have to do with feeding eight billion people without oil and gas? In this episode, Jesse sits down with Oliver "Oli" Jagoutz, professor at MIT and director of the Earth Resources Laboratory (ERL), for a wide-ranging conversation that travels from the Himalayas to the wastewater treatment plant — and makes the case that geology might be one of the most societally relevant sciences of the coming decades.Oli traces his winding path into the field: the son of a cosmochemist who dragged him along on mantle-sampling campaigns, a self-described "failed" almost-med-student who spent years climbing, traveling, and working as a nurse before discovering that he could inhale geology once he finally found it. His advice to late bloomers — it's not your age that matters, it's that you've figured out what you actually want. From there the conversation digs into the Kohistan arc, the spectacular tilted-on-its-side cross-section of ancient island-arc crust now exposed in the Himalayas, and what it tells us about how continental crust forms (magmatic differentiation, water, and density sorting). Oli explains why he came to believe the textbook story of the India–Asia collision was wrong — arguing the real collision happened closer to 40 million years ago, not 50 — and why that timing matters for understanding how mountain-building and tropical weathering of calcium- and magnesium-rich rocks may have reshaped global climate. That climate thread becomes the pivot point of the episode. Oli describes walking away from the decades-old "origin of continental crust" question to chase problems with real-world stakes, and lays out the four areas his lab now tackles: carbon sequestration, critical minerals, geothermal energy, and geological hydrogen. Along the way he challenges the standard weathering-CO2 story (betting instead on the organic side — clays protecting buried organic matter), and walks through a genuinely clever carbon-sequestration scheme that uses sulfur-reducing bacteria and industrial waste gypsum to lock up carbon while making money by recovering elemental sulfur — a chemical the world will desperately need for fertilizer in a post-oil economy. The episode closes on practical wisdom for students: master the fundamentals, stay broad, actually go to the talks (not just the beer), use tenure to fund "Neverland science," and recognize that an outsider's perspective — connecting dots others haven't — is often where the best ideas come from. Oli also explains how AI-driven, probabilistic "hygrometry" of whole-rock data is opening a new path for mineral prospectivity, and why he thinks metamorphic petrology — the chemistry of hot fluids reacting with rock underground — is the science of the future for mining, energy, and carbon storage alike. In this episodeHow a cosmochemist dad and a broken finger started a career in geologyWhy coming to the field "late" can be an advantageThe Kohistan arc and the puzzle of how continental crust is madeRe-dating the India–Asia collision — and why ~40 Ma changes the climate storyWeathering, CO2 drawdown, and the case for the organic carbon pathwayTurning sewage, gypsum, and bacteria into profitable carbon sequestrationSulfur, fertilizer, and the hidden product tree of oil and gasCritical minerals, geothermal, and geological hydrogen at MIT's ERLAI + whole-rock geochemistry for finding copper depositsWhy metamorphic petrology is the way of the futureAdvice for students who want to use geology to solve big problemsOli's "best day as a geologist"About the guestOliver Jagoutz is a professor at MIT and director of the Earth Resources Laboratory. His work spans igneous and metamorphic petrology, the tectonic evolution of the Himalayas, links between mountain-building and climate, and applied geoscience for energy, critical minerals, and carbon sequestration.Memorable quotes"Don't get discouraged when the community thinks you are wrong. BGM:Men I Trust - Seven片尾曲:Durand Jones & The Indications,Aaron Frazer - Flower Moon【本期主播】秋蓬|House|乐克|郭爱美【收听与联络方式】欢迎大家在苹果播客、小宇宙App、Spotify、喜马拉雅、荔枝App、网易云音乐、QQ音乐等音频平台订阅本节目。

This is the fall.We pick up in the '90s, when the world that had made Michael Jackson started turning on him. The tabloids had a field day. The hyperbaric chamber. The Elephant Man's bones. A baby dangled off a balcony in Berlin. One by one, the story of the greatest entertainer who ever lived began to curdle into something else entirely. Then came the allegations.A dentist who drugged his own kid to get a confession. A $20 million demand to stay quiet. A 2003 documentary that aired to 48 million people and changed everything. A trial with 14 counts, a circus outside the courthouse, and a jury that came back not guilty — on every single one.And then, four years later, a rented mansion in Holmby Hills. A doctor on his phone with a cocktail waitress. A call to 911 that came 90 minutes too late. And the most famous human being on earth, gone at 50.We get into the death, the theories, the $400 million lawsuit still pending, and the question nobody has a clean answer to — was it negligence, a cash grab, a conspiracy, or all three? We also give you our takes.
Before the glove. Before Neverland, before the tabloids, before the world decided it knew exactly who Michael Jackson was — there was a kid in Gary, Indiana who wasn't allowed to touch his father's guitar. Most people know the legend. Few know the price.Michael Jackson didn't have a childhood. He had rehearsals. He had a belt across the chair and a father who saw dollar signs where other dads saw sons. By the time he was eight years old he was performing in nightclubs, watching the adult world at its worst, and being told that was normal. It wasn't normal. None of it was.And yet — out of all of that — came Thriller. The moonwalk. Four consecutive number one singles before he was twelve. A catalog worth billions. A chimp in a matching outfit eating dinner at the table. But also Neverland. Also the allegations. Also a death that still doesn't sit right. This week we start at the beginning — Gary, Indiana, Joe Jackson, the Apollo Theater, Motown, Quincy Jones, and the private world Michael built when he finally had enough money to build whatever he wanted. We get into the stuff most people don't know, the stuff that actually explains everything, and we set the table for what's coming in Part 2.And trust us — Part 2 gets dark.Timestamps:00:00 — Intro, Patreon shoutouts & gas prices somehow leading to Michael Jackson04:00 — Why we're covering MJ now & our bias going in (we love him, sue us)07:00 — Gary, Indiana: the two-bedroom house, 11 people, and Joe Jackson11:00 — Joe discovers the boys' talent & the rehearsals begin — belt on the chair13:00 — Michael describes the abuse & why the sight of his father made him physically ill15:00 — "Big Nose" — the nickname that quietly explains everything about his face16:00 — The Jackson 5 is born & Michael joins at six years old18:00 — Winning the Apollo, Gladys Knight, Berry Gordy & the Motown signing19:00 — Diana Ross "presents" them — the marketing ploy that worked perfectly20:00 — Four consecutive number ones straight out the gate, Jacksonmania hits22:00 — Growing up backstage in nightclubs — what Michael saw at age 7 and 823:00 — His Grammy speech: "My childhood was taken away from me"25:00 — Was it worth it? This week we're getting into the Peter Pan Economy: what it actually means to come of age in a generation that can't afford to grow up, and why that's both a wound and a strange kind of gift.We were promised that adulthood would and should look a certain way: house, kids, stability. Instead, we got girl dinner, situationships, and a deep sense that none of this feels real. The same generation that can't afford a house is also the one reclaiming their childhoods, leaning into whimsy, and asking "how can I have fun?" as a life philosophy. The goal isn't to stay in Neverland forever... but to take a piece of it with us wherever we go.Follow the podcast on all platforms

The Season 1 finale of STAR WARS: MAUL - SHADOW LORD delivered everything we hoped for: emotional betrayals, jaw-dropping visuals, terrifying horror vibes, and the long-awaited confrontation between Maul and Darth Vader. Richard and Sarah break down Chapters 9 and 10, from Dryden Vos and Crimson Dawn connections to Devon's tragic fall toward the dark side, and the MANY deaths along the way. Did Brander Lawson survive? We want your opinion, because Richard and Sarah are split! MAUL - SHADOW LORD composers Kevin, Deana, and Sean Kiner sneak in many musical references to "Duel of the Fates," "Battle of the Heroes," and "Anakin's Dark Deeds," all from the Prequel trilogy. We analyze how each of these callbacks help the overall storytelling of this series. One of the standout elements of the finale is Vader himself. His silent entrance through the misty forest instantly joins the ranks of iconic Vader reveals from A New Hope, Rogue One, and even Splinter of the Mind's Eye. The horror-inspired music, jump scares, and brutal fighting style made Vader feel unstoppable. Meanwhile, Maul manipulated events exactly as planned, allowing Devon's rage over Master Daki's death to push her into becoming his apprentice. The symbolism throughout the finale — broken bridges, collapsing temples, and fractured Jedi ideals — gave the battle emotional weight beyond the lightsaber clashes. We get into all of it! Is this the first Maul vs Vader battle in Star Wars history? While it's their first major onscreen showdown, the two previously dueled in the 2001 comic Star Wars Tales #9. Richard and Sarah explore that deep-cut Expanded Universe story. PODCAST SPONSORS Small World Vacations is an official sponsor of Skywalking Through Neverland. Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
Michael Jackson walked out of a California courthouse a free man. Then he left the country. Then he never set foot in Neverland again. Whatever the verdict meant legally, it cost him something no jury could return. This episode is the 2005 criminal trial in full. The Martin Bashir documentary where Jackson held a boy's hand on camera and told the world that sharing his bed with children wasn't sexual. The charges that followed. The teenage cancer survivor who testified Jackson abused him. The prosecution's pattern witnesses who described behavior stretching back a decade. And the defense's systematic demolition of the accuser's family — a mother who'd lied under oath, committed welfare fraud, and alienated the jury so completely that one juror called her a scam artist. Then there are the defense witnesses who matter beyond this trial. Macaulay Culkin said nothing happened. Wade Robson said nothing happened — under oath, clearly, convincingly. Robson's testimony helped acquit Jackson. And then Robson reversed everything. That reversal is the next episode. But this one matters because the acquittal is the most misunderstood moment in this entire saga. Not guilty is a legal determination. Some jurors believed Jackson probably did abuse children. They just couldn't convict on this case, with this family, under this burden of proof.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? What's the real story behind Marrok from Ahsoka and Maul: Shadow Lord? Actor and stunt performer Paul Darnell joins Richard and Sarah for a behind-the-scenes look at bringing the mysterious Inquisitor to life. A master of storytelling through movement, Paul shares fascinating insights into performing as Marrok — including the surprising detail that Marrok's mask had a removable face-plate so he could better see while filming. Paul also talks about other key scenes in Ahsoka, like portraying the Night Troopers falling down stairs for multiple takes as they battled Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka and Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati. The conversation dives into Marrok's possible backstory, Nightsister magick, fan theories, and whether the masked assassin could still return after dissolving into green mist. Paul's career stretches far beyond Star Wars. He's an accomplished parkour expert and stunt performer who has doubled for major Hollywood stars, including Henry Cavill as Superman and Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen in Twilight. Pattinson even publicly thanked Paul during the 2009 MTV Movie Awards for his stunt work on the film. And if you want to meet Paul Darnell in person, fans will have the chance this August at the Boonta Eve Special Edition in Frisco, Texas on Friday, August 7. This week, Dana, Steve, and Nadira Goffe assess if we as a culture can ever really escape Neverland— namely, the gigantic and fraught legacy of Michael Jackson. They unpack the biopic Michael. Directed by Antoine Fuqua, starring Jackson's own nephew Jaafar Jackson, and produced by much of the Jackson family, the film is chock full of musical numbers and light on the troubling aspects of the singer's life. Does it ever rise above King of Pop hagiography? They discuss.Next, they take up Half Man, the new limited series from Baby Reindeer creator Richard Gadd. It's a brutal look at a toxic male relationship. Is its unflinching eye too unflinching? Perhaps. Finally, how can one become cultured? What does that even mean!? Such are the questions raised by T Magazine's recent special issue “How to Be Cultured.” Our panel debates the package's various high brow listicles, takes their quiz, and Nadira even makes her own culture list as rebuttal! There is no shortage of Star Wars content in 2026, and right now all eyes are on Maul: Shadow Lord. In this episode, we dive into the midpoint of the season (Episodes 1–6) and explore how the story is unfolding, especially through the insights we learned from our recent roundtable with voice actors Sam Witwer and Gideon Adlon. We explore Devon's internal struggle, Maul's influence, and whether he's manipulating her into becoming something far more dangerous. We've had so many YouTube comments, and one of the main questions we want to address is the connection between Devon Izara and Darth Talon. Is this Padawan on a path toward the dark side? And more specifically… is she being shaped into the iconic Sith assassin from Star Wars Legends? We break down everything you need to know about Darth Talon's origins, her role in the Legacy comics, and even George Lucas' original plans to bring her to the big screen alongside Maul. PLUS: Episode 5 & 6 analysis Inquisitor Marrok's return That epic train sequence Maul's true motivations What it all means for the rest of the season Is Devon the future Darth Talon… or is this a misdirect? In honor of Will's impending fatherhood, we're inviting dads onto the show to share the romance and parenting tips from some of their favorite movies. First up: Steven Spielberg's 1991 Peter Pan adaptation Hook, starring Robin Williams as Peter and Dustin Hoffman as the titular one-handed captain. Join in as we discuss Hook's place in the Spielberg dad canon, this odd transition point in the director's career, and the standout performances by Hoffman and Bob Hoskins. Plus: Why wasn't this movie made into a musical? Why can only Wendy (Maggie Smith) properly remember Neverland? Why does Peter have an American accent? And, most importantly, why is Peter's son Jack so terrible at baseball? Make sure to rate, review, and subscribe!
