Send us a textGreetings, Adventurers! Sit down by the hearth and hearken to this tale - tale of woe, bad plotting, and bad characterization! It's Disney's The Black Cauldron from 1985! Misha and Tyler dive into all those parts you wish they would and wouldn't: what Gurgi's whole deal is; what Eilonwy's whole deal is; what the Horned King's whole deal is; and...you get the picture. It's a bad movie. Check out our website and buy us a coffee! www.muchabuaboutnothing.comFollow us on Instagram! @muchabupodCover Art by Misha. In this week's (delayed) episode of the Once Again Podcast – sorry about that – hosts Ashley and Jason discuss the infamous, near-bankrupting-Disney classic, The Black Cauldron. This was a first-time viewing for both hosts and left us turning to the Chronicles of Prydain series for answers. Join us as we examine Taran, Eilonwy, Fflewddur Fflam, Gurgi, the Horned King, and the rest in this dark fantasy film that left us wanting more. And Disney – we know you're listening – make a sequel to this film already! Unusual Magic Jewelry:https://www.etsy.com/shop/UnusualMagicJewelry?ref=profile_header
We are here to defend the underrated Disney characters!! There are some who put their friend's dreams above their own and their are some who are just hilarious!! We share your picks as well!!
We continue Season 1 with Princess Eilonwy, from the oft-maligned Disney disaster, The Black Cauldron. Eilonwy may seem like a rejected princess, but she truly helped pave the way for some of the most beloved princesses to come. The tumultuous development of the character and the film really encapsulates the phrase, “It can only get better.” Sarah discusses the origin and development of Eilonwy, revealing a rollercoaster production process and a shockingly star-studded animation crew. One of these powerhouse animators is the focus of GAME TIME! CAN YOU NAME THE MOVIE EACH OF HIS ICONIC CHARACTERS IS FROM? Near the end of the episode, Jessica illuminates the way Eilonwy's portrayal significantly differs between the original book series and the film. We'll give you a hint: one is a feminist powerhouse, and one... is not. But while The Black Cauldron may be the black sheep of Disney animation, so much good came from this unbeloved princess and her chaotically discombobulated film. Our story is similar to many: in an attempt to have fun one late Saturday evening, 6 strangers came together for a one-shot, but had so much fun that we extended that one-shot into a two-shot... and then a three-shot... and then we turned it into a whole campaign! Since then, we've expanded beyond Dungeons and Dragons and to other games systems for one shots such as Hardwired Island or Shadowrun Anarchy and we hope to branch out ever further. But one thing's for sure, whether we're diving into dungeons or trying not to get geeked on the mean streets of Seattle: we're fiends for the sound of rolling dice. Head out on an adventure while a magically large house cat lays eternal chase - we’re covering The Castle of Llyr, by Lloyd Alexander. The third book in the Chronicles of Prydain makes excellent use of Alexander’s well-developed, charming characters as they get into scrapes outside of the series’ main storyline. Eilonwy determines her own path and every character investigates their identity - but sadly, Gurgi rarely opens his everlasting food wallet. Many listeners have requested that we cover more Lloyd Alexander, and we’re more than happy to comply - we’re hoping to continue the Chronicles in the not-so-distant future! If you have a request, email us at dragonbabiespodcast@gmail.com.We also open this episode with a call for your favorite YA fantasy books by Black authors as well as other authors of color - please share! We are looking to diversify our very white podcast catalogue and would love to hear them.MUSIC - Pippin the Hunchback and Thatched Villagers by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) - Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

What does it take to be a Disney princess? I'm sure we all know the official ones, but what about other Disney characters? There are others that seem like they should be part of the line-up, but why aren't they? Here's my personal list of what I call forgotten Disney princesses. I read about some in my list from this website: https://vocal.geeks/15-characters-who-arent-on-the-official-disney-princess-list-but-should-be. I got my info about Elena of Avalor from this website: https://oh my.disney.com/insider/2015/1/29/meet-the-new-disney-princess-elena-of-avalor/. Update on 1/24/20: Oh my word! I just saw that Eilonwy is actually NOT from The Sword and the Stone, but from The Black Cauldron, which I also haven't ever seen! So sorry! My mistake! It's basically about a pig farmer who has to fight off an evil king and who I assume saves Eilonwy from him. Again so sorry for the misinformation!

This is not an easy task, for The Evil Horned King will stop at nothing to get the power of the cauldron.Taran along with the young princess Eilonwy, the bard Fflewddur Fflam, and a wild creature named Gurgi seek to destroy the cauldron, to prevent the Horned King from ruling the world.● Trivia:● The movie is loosely based upon the first two books in Lloyd Alexander's Prydain Chronicles ("The Book of Three" and "The Black Cauldron"). ● The first Disney animated movie to not contain any songs, neither performed by characters nor in the background.● This movie is notable for being the first full-length Disney animated movie to incorporate computer graphics imagery (CGI) in its animation. The CGI was utilized for a lot of the special effects, which included the bubbles, a boat, a floating orb of light, the Cauldron, the realistic flames seen near the end of the movie, and the boat that Taran and his friends used to escape the castle. The dimensions and volume of the animated objects were fed into a computer and then their shapes were manipulated through computer programming before they were transferred as physical outlines the animators could work on. Despite this movie being released a year before The Great Mouse Detective (1986), both were in production simultaneously, and the computer graphics for the latter were done first. When Producer Joe Hale heard about what was being done, the possibilities made him excited, and he made the crew from The Great Mouse Detective (1986) create some computer animation for his own movie. For others effects, Animator Don Paul used live-action footage of dry ice mists to create the steam and smoke coming out of the Cauldron.● Tim Burton, worked as a Conceptual Artist on this movie● The first Disney animated theatrical movie to receive a PG rating, and had been the only one to have that rating up until The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) and Dinosaur(2000). ● There is an urban legend that, despite the movie's failure in the U.S., it was popular in Japan, so much so, that the creator of the Legend of Zelda series, Shigeru Miyamoto, based a lot of the game's elements on this movie. ● When the Horned King activates the power of the Black Cauldron, the sound of a space shuttle launch was used.● Segment: Misc “Whosits and Whatsits Galore” ● Comicpaloozao First started attending in 2014o We are Cosplayers!o First cosplay contest in 2015 with a Disney Princess Wrap Battle Skit as Anna, Elsa and Ariel.● This year Kerry Entered a solo Skit as Human Tamatoao Story of Audio issues and what happened to Kerryo Going at the end and winning best skito Tamatoa Skit o Oogie Boogie Skit● Lounge Princess Photo Shoot – Taken by: Jonathan Vilches @j.a.vilches “Lounge Princess” Meetup Photoshoot Photoso How the idea happenedo Cosplayers Involved: ▪ Cinderella: Princess Deanna Cosplay▪ Aurora: SchmittydeCali Cosplay▪ Ariel: Lady Loodlz Cosplay▪ Belle: Backsplit Cosplay▪ Jasmine: Keriko Cosplay▪ Mulan: SherrBear▪ Rapunzel: Fairy La Fey▪ Merida: Pastel Colored Cosplay▪ Anna: Noontime Shadows Cosplay▪ Elsa: Rumple and Cat Cosplay▪ Moana: Charming Darling▪ Vanellope: Clown Girl Cosplay● Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”○ Disney has complete control over Hulu now.○ Live Action Aladdin comes out this Weekend!● Segment: weekly top 4 (secret from each other)”Let’s get down to business”○ Top 4 Disney Dark Moments: 1 - Pinocchio - pleasure island “jack asses” 2 - The Hunchback of Notre Dame - Hellfire/Frollo at the Beginning 3 - Snow White - All the Dark things 4 - Fantasia - Night on Bald Mountain “Chernabog”Next Week: New Live Action Aladdin Top 4: Disney/Pixar Shorts Contact info: Social Media: Facebook: Faith Trust and Pixie Dust - Podcast Email: 1stgeek411@gmail.com Twitter: @FTPD_PodcastPersonal Twitters: @Sparkle_Fists @SpilledXWater @deanna790Check us out on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, and Spotify!!!

In this episode, I caught up with Eilonwy, a domestic cat. He lived in my apartment for a year or so, and I was able to talk to him right before he moved out. Eilonwy candidly talks to me all about how everyone thought he was a female cat.Eilonwy: Sarah PorterRuby: Dan Schiffmacher
