Send us Fan MailEver wondered what it's really like to be the voice you hear inside Gampel Pavilion and PeoplesBank Arena on UConn game days?In this episode of the Connecticut Scoreboard Podcast, we sit down with Jonathan Barden, the PA voice of the Huskies, to go behind the microphone and learn what it takes to bring a UConn basketball game to life.Jonathan shares how he got into PA announcing, how his signature voice developed, what his game-day preparation looks like, and whether he can actually enjoy the game while having to call every basket, foul and substitution. We also get into one of the biggest challenges of the job: pronounciations. Jonathan talks about preparing for difficult names, whether he's ever worried about getting one wrong, how much he rehearses player introductions, and whether he has a favorite name to announce. And, of course, we had to ask: Do Jonathan's friends ever make him say things in his PA voice?

What happens after a woman has already achieved success? She is leading. Carrying responsibility. Making decisions. Holding teams, families, businesses, and futures together. From the outside, it may look like she has arrived. But internally, she may be standing at a different kind of threshold. It's one where success still works, but no longer feels like the whole truth. In this episode of Your Passion, Purpose, and Personal Brand, Lisa McGuire continues her conversation with Dr. Don Barden, author of Here Come the Girls and founder of Architect Her. Together, they explore why the next era of leadership will require more than information, inspiration, or another conference room full of content. Architect Her is a private, curated, year-long leadership architecture experience created for high-capacity women who are ready to build what comes next. It is not a retreat. It is not a mastermind. It is not another place to consume ideas without integration. It is a room designed for understanding. Lisa and Don talk about the loneliness of leadership, the burden women often carry that others do not see, and why relevance may be the defining question for leaders in the new human economy. They also explore the power of being in proximity with other women who are not competing, posturing, or performing, but collaborating from lived experience. If you are a woman in leadership who has built something meaningful and still senses there is more to architect, this conversation will name something you may already know but have not said out loud. Key Takeaways Architect Her is a year-long leadership experience designed for women in meaningful positions of influence, responsibility, or readiness. The real value is not just the curriculum. It is the room, the cohort, the conversations, and the understanding that happens between women. Relevance is becoming one of the most important questions for leaders and organizations preparing for the future. Women often carry a greater volume of responsibility across work, family, leadership, and personal life. Success can be lonely when others assume you already have everything figured out. The right room creates safety without softness, collaboration without competition, and transformation without performance. Architect Her is built around understanding, not simply knowledge. Work-life balance may not be the real goal. Work-life harmony is the deeper invitation. Companies benefit when they invest in the women who are shaping culture, teams, and the future of business. The next era belongs to women who are ready to lead with clarity, capacity, and authority.

What still works may no longer be what the world needs next. In this powerful first part of a two-part conversation, Lisa McGuire welcomes back Dr. Don Barden, researcher behind Here Come the Girls and founder of ArchitectHer, to explore the leadership shift already reshaping business, work, culture, and community. This conversation moves past the tired framing of men versus women and looks instead at an old leadership model losing its grip, giving way to one built on trust, human-centered decision-making, empowerment, and collaboration, where people actually feel seen, heard, understood, and valued. Dr. Barden shares the research behind his prediction that women will reach and surpass the tipping point of global leadership by 2028. What matters even more than the numbers is why: the way many women naturally lead already matches what employees, consumers, teams, and communities are asking for right now. Together, Lisa and Don dig into why women-led businesses are outperforming traditional models and how empowered teams translate into stronger economic outcomes. They also get into something less obvious: the ways men benefit from this shift too, and what high-achieving women actually need to carry this next era without burning themselves out in the process. If you're a leader, entrepreneur, high performer, or a woman standing at the edge of her next chapter, this episode will help you recognize what's changing and why your leadership may matter more than ever. The future is not waiting for permission. It is already being architected. Are you a caring dentist who finds it hard to accept when a patient is beyond your help?In this episode, Dr. Don Barden, a scholar of economics and human behavior, candidly talks about a critical failure, one that many dentists might relate to: assuming you can help everyone. Sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience, Dr. Barden shows the dangers of this mindset and explains the importance of recognizing that patients, and indeed anyone, can only be truly helped when they are willing to help themselves. Unpack his insights and learn why he thinks that acknowledging this reality can be a significant step towards succeeding as a practice owner. As Dr. Barden says, "Failure is ongoing. Failure is something that you should embrace because it tells you what not to do, and it opens the door for everything you should be doing."‍‍Listen to Don's Other Episodes Here:Feel Passion for Dentistry Again: 12-Months to Success with This Mindset Shift | Don Barden | MME – The Dental Marketer Podcast‍Host: Michael AriasJoin my newsletter: https://thedentalmarketer.lpages.co/newsletter/‍Join this podcast's Facebook Group: The Dental Marketer Society‍Love the Podcast? What if the biggest economic revolution in history is already underway... and women are leading it? In this landmark episode, Angela Gennari sits down with Dr. Don Barden... globally recognized behavioral economist, leadership expert, and author of the #1 Amazon bestseller Here Come the Girls — for a conversation that is part data, part revelation, and completely unmissable. Dr. Barden spent nearly five years conducting doctoral-level research on women in leadership around the world. What he found will change the way you see business, culture, and your own future. In this episode you'll discover: — Why women-led businesses outperform male-led businesses 3-to-1 in revenue and profit — The three-step leadership formula female executives use that men almost never do (sympathy → empathy → empowerment) — Why 94% of employees who bring a problem to their boss already know how to solve it — and what happens when leaders trust that — The science behind why your energy arrives before you do (and lingers after you leave) — Why women-led businesses have double the employee retention — and why productivity actually goes UP in years 4, 5, and 6 — How collaboration is replacing mergers and acquisitions — and why women are driving that shift — Dr. Barden's bold forecast: a coming economic boom bigger than the agricultural, industrial, and dot-com revolutions combined Plus — Dr. Barden is offering free e-copies of both The Perfect Plan and Here Come the Girls to anyone who reaches out and mentions this podcast. This is the first time Angela has ever featured a man on the Pretty Powerful Podcast — and after this episode, you'll understand exactly why she made an exception.

Amy Barden, director of the city's Community Assisted Response and Engagement (CARE) department.Barden has been on the job for just over two years, running the city's 911 operations while also setting up an unarmed team of social workers who respond to emergency calls that don't require police—the CARE Team. The CARE Team is expanding to 48 members this year, and their size will no longer be capped under the city's contract with the Seattle Police Officers' Guild (SPOG), which has historically resisted reducing the duties that legally have to be performed by police, like directing traffic and responding to 911 calls. But the contract also includes new constraints on CARE that limit where the team is allowed to go and when they have to back off and call police. CARE can't help people if there are signs that they've recently used drugs, for instance, and they aren't allowed to go inside most buildings or respond to people inside cars.We asked Barden about these constraints, along with the requirement that SPD sergeants decide who to send out on crisis calls that come in to 911—police, CARE, or community service officers, civilian SPD staffers who respond to minor issues but lack the mental health and crisis response training of the social workers who make up the CARE team.We also talked about how CARE has evolved in its first 28 months, what happens when people call 911 for a person in crisis, and Barden's hopes for the team under new mayor Katie Wilson and a more progressive City Council. Our editor is Quinn Waller.Send us a text! This episode traces North Adams, a Hillsdale County village that grew up along the rails and wired itself for the future. We open with the town's most retold story—blacksmith Henry Taylor, a former slave who became a respected tradesman and was said to carry his anvil and once walk off with a potbelly stove. From there, we move down Main Street to Maccabee Hall, Barden's Hotel, and C. J. Knapp's store, then over to the 1912 Municipal Lighting Plant that brought electric light to homes and storefronts. We also cover a tough year: April 23, 1927, when sparks from a chimney ruined the village school. Classes shifted to Town Hall, the Odd Fellows hall, and the Congregational Church while a new building was planned. A 1927 newspaper snapshot rounds out daily life—about 500 residents, three churches, a 12-grade school on the University of Michigan list, a library of 900 books, and a full block of shops and services.

History is being written under our noses and we may not even realize it. Dr. Don Barden, globally renowned Behavioral Economist and author of "The Perfect Plan" and "Here Come the Girls" unpacks a revolutionary shift happening right now in the business world—women are on track to lead global leadership by 2028, bringing unprecedented economic prosperity with them. Don shares his fascinating journey from Wall Street to consulting for industry giants like Microsoft, Coca-Cola, and Walmart, and how his relentless observation of high performers worldwide revealed universal success patterns. What he discovered might surprise you: women-owned businesses are outperforming male-owned ones 3:1 in profit, revenue, and employee retention. Don's research isn't just theoretical—it's transformational. He breaks down exactly why leaders who run to work to serve others find the "laws of the universe dump abundance on them." This isn't about gender politics; it's about smart business. As Don puts it, "This isn't a girl thing—it's a smart thing." If you're feeling that quiet inner struggle between playing it safe and stepping boldly into your authentic leadership, this conversation offers both validation and a roadmap. The future belongs to those who lead with purpose, clarity, and genuine connection—qualities that align perfectly with what's emerging in our global economy. KEY TAKEAWAYS Retention and productivity rise dramatically under female leadership. The future workplace will reward collaboration over competition. Businesses must align with what consumers and employees want most: to feel valued. Female leaders naturally align with modern workforce and consumer needs. Women are leading differently—not like men—but by celebrating their uniqueness. The future of work is human-centered, values-driven, and rich in purpose YOUR NEXT STEP If you're building or leading anything right now—pause. Ask yourself: Are you aligned with what people genuinely want: connection, purpose, and value? This isn't just about supporting women in leadership or anything to do with gender wars. It's about supporting better leadership, period. The future isn't coming. It's already here. What side of this transformation will you be on? ABOUT DON BARDEN Dr. Don Barden is a globally recognized Behavioral Economist and acclaimed author known for "The Perfect Plan." Recognized as one of North America's Top 30 most transformational leaders by John Maxwell, Dr. Barden has guided industry giants like Microsoft, Coca-Cola, and Walmart to unprecedented success. Jessica Barden is an undeniable force on screen. Sure enough, she did just that for a number of independent features, including Nicole Riegel's Holler, which was named one of the Top Ten Independent Films of 2021 by the National Board of Review. Now Barden is busy stealing scenes in yet another significant way. She's doing so in one of the most popular franchises out there opposite some of the industry's greatest icons.Barden plays a young Valya Harkonnen in Dune: Prophecy. While living on Lankiveil, Valya frequently butts heads with her family who seemingly have no urgency to restore the Harkonnen name by taking revenge on the Atreides. After her brother's murder, allegedly at the hands of Vorian Atreides, Valya joins the Sisterhood where she quickly discovers she holds great power and has few limitations when it comes to using it on others to get what she wants. With Dune: Prophecy wrapping up its first season, Barden joined me for a Collider Ladies Night conversation to revisit her journey to the franchise and to dig into how she found her Dune character alongside Emily Watson.
