“Feature Film” – The RocketeerWikipediaSet in 1938 Los Angeles, California, The Rocketeer tells the story of stunt pilot Cliff Secord who stumbles upon a hidden rocket-powered jet pack that he thereafter uses to fly without the need of an aircraft. His heroic deeds soon attract the attention of Howard Hughes and the FBI, who are hunting for the missing jet pack, as well as the Nazi operatives that stole it from Hughes.Trivia - IMDBThe character of Neville Sinclair was loosely modelled after Errol Flynn, who was suspected of being a Nazi spy.The Gee Bee racer was nicknamed "The Widowmaker" and "The Flying Coffin" because it was incredibly difficult to fly and was prone to crashing. Because of its speed and maneuverability, some pilots still raced it despite the danger. The actual Gee Bee used in filming was only allowed to land a very limited amount of times during its time working on the movie, as landings are extremely hard on the landing gear of this particular plane.During the fight scene on-board the zeppelin, Cliff says to Neville, "Where's your stuntman now Sinclair?", to which Neville replies "I do my own stunts." This line is in reference to Timothy Dalton's time as James Bond, since he is known for being the only Bond actor to perform most of his own stunts.Billy Campbell, who once studied commercial art, made sure to read the Dave Stevens graphic novel, on which this film was based. He got the part after getting a haircut to make himself look identical to the character in the graphic novel.Joe Johnston's work on this film is what led to his hiring as director of Captain America: The First Avenger Disney had a special mechanism built especially for this film. Called the "Shaky-cam", it was designed to be the exact opposite of the "Steady-cam", that is, to introduce vibrations into the picture. This was used in the scenes filmed inside the Zeppelin to give the impression of the power of the engines. When the movie went to video, the effect didn't transfer too well, and was therefore steadied.Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”Black Beauty coming to Disney + November 27thBorn free in the American West, Black Beauty is rounded up and brought to Birtwick Stables, where she meets spirited teenager Jo Green. When fate places Remy in the sewers of Paris, he finds himself ideally situated beneath a restaurant made famous by his culinary hero, Auguste Gusteau. Despite the apparent dangers of being an unlikely, and certainly unwanted, visitor in the kitchen of a fine French restaurant, Remy's passion for cooking soon sets into motion a hilarious and exciting rat race that turns the culinary world of Paris upside down.TriviaPet rats were kept at the studio in the hallway for more than a year so that the animators could study the movement of their fur, noses, ears, paws, and tails. To find out how to animate the scene where the Head Chef is wet, they actually dressed someone in a chef suit, and put him in a swimming pool to see which parts of the suit stuck to his body, and which parts you could see through.(At around sixteen minutes) When Remy (Patton Oswalt) is climbing out of the sewers for the first time, he is barked at by a dog in one of the houses. You only see the dog's silhouette, but it is actually the dog Dug from Pixar's then still-in-production movie Up (2009).Marketing tie-ins proved to be problematic for this movie as no food product company wanted to be associated with a rat.In France, where this movie is set, the movie broke the record for the biggest debut for an animated movie.PIXAR TRADEMARK: (At around one hour and fourteen minutes) Nearly every Pixar movie shows the Pizza Planet truck from the Toy Story franchise. The truck appears on the bridge over the Seine, in the scene where Skinner (Sir Ian Holm) chases Remy (Patton Oswalt). The ratatouille dish prepared by Remy is the alternate variation called confit byaldi. It was adapted by film consultant Thomas Keller. This variation differs much from the conventional ratatouille in terms of preparation and method. The major difference is that the vegetables used are sliced thinly and baked instead of cooking them in the pot.Chef and television personality Anthony Bourdain's favorite food-centric movie. Bourdain said, "They got the food, the reactions to food, and tiny details to food really right, down to the barely noticeable pink burns on one of the character's forearms. I really thought it captured a passionate love of food in a way that very few other films have."Walt Disney Pictures was reluctant to push this movie as a nominee for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, fearing that members might overlook it in the Best Animated Feature category where it was deemed to be a lock. Instead, they concentrated their efforts on making sure it won in the animated category.Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”Promo for Raya and the Last DragonAlan Menken reaches EGOT statusMadalorian Gets 15 Emmy NominationsNew Black Beauty movie Coming to Disney +Segment: Miscellaneous “whosits and whatsits galore”Facebook Comments “What have you watched on Disney plus”Cole - Up Up and AwayLaura - HamiltonSegment: Top 4 Ranking “Let’s get down to business” Animated foods we would like to eat1. Based on one of the greatest adventure stories ever told - Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island" - this film follows Jim's fantastic journey across a parallel universe as a cabin boy aboard a glittering space galleon. TriviaThe name of the ship, "R.L.S. Legacy", is a reference to the book's ("Treasure Island") author, Robert Louis Stevenson.B.E.N. sings a few bars from "Pirates of the Carribean", a pirate-themed attraction at the Disney's Magic Kingdom. As of 2011, this was Disney's biggest financial loss. Total cost: $180 million (including $40 million for advertising). Total worldwide gross: $101 million. Total loss: $79 million. This movie was pitched to Disney by John Musker and Ron Clements several times: (1) In 1985, during production on The Black Cauldron (1985), but they ended up assigned to direct The Great Mouse Detective (1986). (2) After directing The Little Mermaid (1989), but they ended up assigned to direct Aladdin (1992). (3) After directing Aladdin (1992), but the studio wanted them to direct Hercules (1997). Musker and Clements agreed to direct that movie only if they were allowed to make this movie right after it.The animators visited a Benihana restaurant to take notes for the scene where John Silver chops shrimp.Amelia, in the original design, was going to have tentacles for hair that would move and hold objects.Jim's clothes become lighter as this movie progresses, symbolizing his transformation from "bad boy" to "hero". Near the beginning, he wears a black t-shirt. During his adventure towards and on Treasure Planet, he wears a tan shirt. In the final scene, he wears a white military uniform.A planned sequel was cancelled due to this movie's failure at the box office, and when John Lasseter was appointed CEO of Walt Disney Animation Studios, his first task was to cancel all sequels and television shows. In the proposed treatment, Jim Hawkins and Kate, his love interest and classmate at the Royal Interstellar Academy, must team with Long John Silver to stop the villainous Ironbeard from freeing the inmates of Botany Bay Prison Asteroid. Willem Dafoe was set to voice Ironbeard. To enhance his "bad boy" reputation, the producers added a dark "mask" over Jim's eyes and gave him a black jacket, which he wears in most scenes for the first half of this movie. However, in the second half, he is no longer seen wearing the jacket and by the final scene, the "mask' is gone.On the planet in B.E.N.'s cave, Dr. Doppler says the phrase "Dangit Jim, I'm not a doctor. I mean I am, but it's a doctorate, it's not the same thing." This is a reference to Star Trek (1966), where Dr. Leonard H. "Bones" McCoy, always said "Damnit Jim, I'm a doctor, not a ____!" to Captain James T. Disney felt that the film's princess theme discouraged young boys from seeing it. In an attempt to market the film to a broader audience, Disney changed the title of the film from Rapunzel to Tangled, and promoted it as a comedic adventure. An early trailer for the film focused less on Princess Rapunzel and more on Flynn Rider, the male lead character. It was originally believed that Disney's marketing campaign was a desperate attempt to search for a particular audience. However, directors Byron Howard and Nathan Greno claimed that the title change was to emphasize that Flynn has as much of a role in the film as Rapunzel. The most expensive Disney film in the animated canon, at US$260 million. This is the first animated Disney "princess" film to get a PG rating by the MPAA. The previous Disney princess films up to that point were all rated G.The character design of Flynn came from the process called the "hot man meeting" by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, during which they set up a meeting with all of the female employees of the studio in one room and asked them for their opinions of what made a man good-looking, in order to create Flynn's character design with features such as eye color, hair color and style and body type. Video footage showed concept art and photos of various male celebrities, including Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, Brad Pitt, David Beckham and Gene Kelly, on the walls of the room. For the scene in which Rapunzel enters the marketplace, the animators were inspired by entrances of Walt Disney World and Disney Land. Rapunzel's excitement towards all the music and people is reminiscent of children at the parks.Zachary Levi auditioned for the part of Flynn Rider and got it, with an English accent. Later, this was dropped and Levi read the role in his own American accent instead.Over 45,000 lanterns are used during the "I See the Light" sequence.Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel both auditioned for the role of Rapunzel. Three years later, they both starred together in Frozen (2013) as Anna and Elsa.Pinocchio can be found in the Snuggly Duckling, right after the cupid is swung to the right of the screen. He is in the top right corner in the rafters. In addition, Pumbaa from The Lion King (1994) (visible in the same scene) and Louis from The Princess and the Frog (2009) (one of the puppets used later in the song) can also be found. It can be inferred that they are all involved in this scene due to them all having dreams (Pinocchio: real boy, Pumbaa: accepted despite bad gas, Louis: jazz musician).Segment: Miscellaneous “whosits and whatsits galore”Trivia !Tease Next Episode Feature Film: Treasure PlanetTop 4: TBDMusic Credit: OurMusicBox (Jay Man) Track Name: "Flights Of Fantasy" Music By: Jay Man @ https://ourmusicbox.com/ Official "OurMusicBox" YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/c/ourmusicbox License for commercial use: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/... After that, even though Leo makes the decision to fit in, every year on his birthday he is anonymously gifted a porcupine tie. Years later, the school is buzzing about the new student when Stargirl Caraway makes her appearance at the high school. She is quirky and unique and makes a huge splash at the unremarkable school that has never won an award. Stargirl manages to raise school spirit and is considered their “lucky charm” as the football team actually begins to win games and she and Leo begin a relationship. Eventually, though, Stargirl’s unusual behavior begins to lose favor with the students and everything comes to a head as, instead of cheering the school to victory, Stargirl accompanies the injured star player of the opposing team to the hospital. Without their “lucky charm”, the team loses and everyone blames Stargirl. With pressure from Leo and her classmates, Stargirl tries to be more “normal” and starts going by Susan, the name she was born with. But during a speech competition, Susan realizes that she needs to be herself - she presents as Stargirl, wins the contest, and breaks up with Leo. Her trophy is the only one in the school’s case. At the school dance, Stargirl gives Leo a “surprise” - she has arranged for Leo to sing onstage the way he used to do with his father. The students pour outside and snow begins to fall. When a blight strikes her island, Moana sets sail in search of Maui, a legendary demigod, in the hope of returning the relic to Te Fiti and saving her people.TriviaThe spiral on Moana's necklace and on the sail of her boat is called a koru. It represents the unfurling fern frond, symbolizing new life, new beginnings, personal growth, hope, a new start, perfection, rebirth, awakening, purity, the spirit of rejuvenation and peace. As a double spiral, it also symbolizes kinship and belonging.Dwayne Johnson believes that voice acting is the most difficult career in acting, and is personally annoyed when celebrities are cast in animated films despite voicing their characters badly. When Johnson was cast for the film, he repeatedly asked the other voice actors present if he was really giving a good performance.Lin-Manuel Miranda has said the character of Tamatoa the Giant Crab was a tribute to David Bowie. The tattoos on Moana’s father’s abdomen are the same tattoos worn by, Dwayne Johnson's maternal grandfather. When he first gets his hook and is trying to shapeshift, Maui changes into various animals. For a split second, he turns into Sven the Reindeer from Frozen (2013).The first baby in the Production Babies credit is Sebastian, Lin-Manuel Miranda's son, who was born during the making of this film. He's named for the crab in The Little Mermaid (1989).Alan Tudyk is the only main cast member who isn't of Polynesian descent. All other main cast members are of at least partial Polynesian or New Zealand descent.Lin-Manuel Miranda has said that The Little Mermaid (1989) had inspired him to become a songwriter for films like this. Interestingly enough, both The Little Mermaid (1989) and Moana (2016) were directed by the celebrated duo directing team of John Musker and Ron Clements. ( there is also a Little Mermaid reference at the end of the credits AND Lin named his son, sebastian)The original idea was for the film to branch away from the Disney Princess template and focus entirely on Maui, with the story a loose conglomeration of a few legends about him. The crew traveled to Polynesia, and became so fascinated with the culture that Moana was created as the new focus character. Two scenes reference Pocahontas (1995): Chief Tui echoes a scene in which a fatherly chief acknowledges his daughter by saying "it suits you", this time rather than referring to Pocahontas' necklace, Chief Tui speaks of Moana's role as a leader in the village. Additionally, in Tamatoa's song, "Shiny," he mentions Moana's granny saying "listen to your heart", also from Pocahontas.Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”Disney announced Frozen would not be returning to Broadway after the reopening.Disney Springs will reopen on May 20, but the rest of the Orlando resort will remain closed.Percy Jackson will be rebooted into a series on Disney +,,,,,,,Segment: Miscellaneous “whosits and whatsits galore”Trivia !Segment: Top 4 Ranking “Let’s get down to business” 1. The 27th Disney animated feature film, the film is based on the classic Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist, which has been adapted many other times for the screen. In the film, Oliver is a homeless kitten who joins a gang of dogs to survive in the streets. Among other changes, the setting of the film was relocated from 19th century London to modern-day New York City, Fagin's gang is made up of dogs (one of which is Dodger), and Sykes is a loan shark.Following the release of The Black Cauldron, Michael Eisner and Jeffrey Katzenberg held a pitch meeting with the animation staff, in which story artist Pete Young pitched the idea to adapt Oliver Twist with dogs. The pitch was quickly approved, and the film quickly went into production under the working title Oliver and the Dodger. Released on the same day as The Land Before Time, Oliver & Company was a box office success, but it received mixed reviews from film critics. IMDB: When Oliver wakes up after sleeping on the truck tire, he sees people crossing past the alley where he's slept. One of those people is Roger from One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961) (look for the guy with the brown hair, blue shirt, and blue pants).Animators shot photos of New York streets as reference, using cameras set eighteen inches off the ground to get a dog's point of view. One of few animated films to feature a front-and-center shot of New York City's Twin Towers. After the tragedy of 9/11, when shots of the iconic towers were being removed from many films to avoid upsetting people, Disney opted not to attempt to edit out the towers, mostly because it would ruin the film's original main title card and because it would be too time-consuming and costly to do. By 2001, Oliver & Company had already been widely distributed on VHS, so there was no point in editing it. Many New Yorkers later commended Disney not altering the film because they felt it was a good portrayal of the way New York used to be before 9/11, and they wanted it left as it was with the towers visible. The first Disney film to have its own department set up expressly for the purpose of generating computer animation. The last animated Disney Classic to use line overlay, also called cel overlay, a technique used to make the backgrounds match the lines of the xeroxed objects in the film.Dom DeLuise (Fagin) had already had roles in several other animated films by this point, namely those by Don Bluth, but this was the only time he got the chance to voice a character in a Disney film. He loved the role so much, he kept ad-libbing lines that ended up being included in the film. He even chose to be in Oliver & Company (1988) over Bluth's The Land Before Time (1988) which released on the same day.The song "Why Should I Worry?" was later used as the theme song of a Disney TV series starring Joey Lawrence, who voiced Oliver in this film.As of 2017, this is the only film in which Billy Joel has had an acting role (all other credited roles have been as himself or as the lead in his music videos).Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”Central Florida Theme Park Reopening GuidelinesDisney streamed it’s Magic Kingdom Fireworks show “Happily Ever After” last Friday, April 24th.The Rise of Skywalker coming to Disney + May 4thSegment: Miscellaneous “whosits and whatsits galore”Trivia!Segment: Top 4 Ranking “Let’s get down to business” 1. To compete in the Olympics, Derice and his best friend, Sanka, a champion push cart racer, seek out Irv Blitzer, an old friend of Derice's father Ben who tried to recruit sprinters to the bobsled team years ago. Irving is an American bobsled two time Gold Medalist at the 1968 Winter Olympics who finished first in two events again during the 1972 Winter Olympics but was disqualified from the latter for cheating and retired in disgrace to Jamaica, where he leads an impoverished life as a bookie. Derice's persistence eventually convinces Irving to be their coach and return to the life he left behind. They eventually recruit Junior and Yul, though Yul is still upset over Junior's mistake at the Olympic Trial. The rest is, literally, history.Trivia - Contrary to the story in movie, the Jamaican team was met with open arms by the international Bobsledding teams. One of the other teams even went so far as to lend the Jamaican team a back-up sled so they could qualify. The Jamaican bobsledder characters in the movie were all fictional characterizations and were not based on their real life counterparts. Finally, only Candy played in this film. The crash scene at the end of the movie, except for the close-up shots, was the real footage of the actual Jamaican bobsled team crash taken from the 1988 Winter Olympic Games.Contrary to the movie, the infamous crash wasn't due to a mechanical error, but more or less losing control of the sled at such a high speed.Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner” Due to Covid-19 the Disney has postponed the release of the following movies: Mulan, Black Widow, New Mutants, Antlers, Personal History of David Copperfield, Woman in the Window, Production has been halted on the following: Live Action Little Mermaid, Shang - Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings, Home Alone remake, Avatar sequel, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, WandaVision.Disney is shockingly closed still. Her abhorrent fiance Lyle (Sandman from Spider-Man 3) attempts to get her to return home, but Ursula continues her trek in the wilderness, where she encounters the “white ape” George - an oddly clumsy, but athletic and sincere man - raised by the denizens of the jungle, who saves her from a lion. They bond in George’s treehouse after the rescue. When Ursula’s guides and Lyle encounter the pair, through a mixup involving a gun-shaped lighter, Lyle accidentally shoots and injures George. Ursula immediately takes George home to the states to care for his injuries, and there is a huge culture clash when George tries to adapt to his current surroundings. Despite being in love with Ursula, George is persuaded by Ursula’s horrible mother to go back to the jungle, and Ursula pursues to tell him she loves him.In the meantime, Lyle has somehow gained control of a radical organization and attempts to come between the two and force Ursula to marry him after all, but is ultimately foiled and we close on a scene of George and Ursula together in the jungle with their clumsy (like his father) son. Film Trivia –All of the gorillas living with George were Jim Henson puppeteers in specialized suitsBrendan Fraser’s personal trainer brought a suit against him for not crediting him...and lost. When George is interacting with the horses at Ursula's parents' party, the woman who wishes she could find a man like him is Brendan Fraser's girlfriend and future wife, Afton Smith. It was after seeing this film that director Stephen Sommers considered Brendan Fraser for the role of Rick O'Connell in 'The Mummy' (1999)Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”Onward is premiering this week! To redirect Hiro, his older brother Tadashi takes him to the research lab at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, where Hiro meets Professor Robert Callaghan, the head of the university's robotics program. Amazed, Hiro decides to apply to the university. To enroll, he signs up for the school's showcase and presents his project: microbots, swarms of tiny robots that can link together in any arrangement imaginable using a neurocranial transmitter. He is accepted to the school but before he can celebrate a massive fire suddenly breaks out in the showcase hall and Tadashi rushes in to save Callaghan, the only person left inside. The building explodes moments later, killing both.Later, a depressed Hiro, in mourning for Callaghan's and Tadashi's death, inadvertently activates Baymax, the inflatable healthcare robot that Tadashi created. The two find Hiro's only remaining microbot and follow it to an abandoned warehouse. There they discover that someone has been mass-producing the microbots, and are attacked by a man wearing a Kabuki mask who is controlling them. After they escape, Hiro suspects that the fire that claimed his brother may not have been accidental and in fact started by the man in the kabuki mask to cover the theft of the microbots. Film Trivia – IMDBAccording to Scott Watanabe, the movie is set in an alternate future where after the 1906 earthquake, San Francisco was rebuilt by Japanese immigrants using techniques that allow movement and flexibility in a seismic event. After the city was finished being rebuilt, it was renamed San Fransokyo due to it being a city with Japanese and American architecture combined. The production team watched videos of fire ants as an inspiration of the movement of the Microbots.Although it is based on a Marvel comic of the same name, there are lots of changes to the names, the setting, the ethnicities of characters, the back stories, and several plot points. While designing Baymax's super-suit, there is a drawing resembling the top half of Iron Man's helmet.Like the Marvel movies, this film also has an end credit scene, although this movie is not connected with the same Cinematic Universe as the other current Marvel movies The end credit scene features Stan Lee as Fred’s Dad.Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”Toy Story 4 Best Animated Film OscarTokyo Disney Sea Expansion Concept PhotosSegment: Miscellaneous “whosits and whatsits galore”TriviaSegment: Top 4 Ranking “Let’s get down to business” Disney Siblings1. When a rainstorm washes poor Arlo (Raymond Ochoa) downriver, he ends up bruised, battered and miles away from home. Good fortune shines on the frightened dino when he meets Spot (Jack Bright), a Neanderthal boy who offers his help and friendship. Together, the unlikely duo embark on an epic adventure to reunite Arlo with his beloved family.○ Film Trivia – IMDB■ The Good Dinosaur (2015) experienced multiple production issues. The film was in production for six years and it suffered from creative differences, story problems, Pixar multitasking between film productions, and a quality slump the studio suffered from Cars 2 (2011) to Monsters University (2013). Director Bob Peterson was removed from the project in the summer of 2013, just under a year before the film's original release date in May 2014. Peterson moved on to another project, while John Lasseter, Lee Unkrich, Mark Andrews, and Peter Sohn stepped in temporarily to work on various sections of the film. In November 2013, due to further delays, Pixar laid off sixty-seven employees of its twelve hundred-person workforce, following the closure of its satellite studio in Canada a month before, when about eighty employees had been laid off, officially to refocus Pixar's efforts at its main headquarters. "For Pixar, it was a dramatic event", said Jim Morris, the studio's General Manager and Executive Vice President of Production. "It was tough on the company. Most studios would have said, 'The movie's fine. It's not bad.' And it wasn't bad; it just wasn't great. We wanted to have a great movie." On October 21, 2014, Peter Sohn was officially named the new director. The story was then re-worked, and some major changes included lowering the age of the protagonist and adding the concept of nature itself being the main antagonist. While John Lithgow still remained cast as Poppa in the film (he would later be replaced), he acknowledged the fantastic changes in the script and said that "(The film's) gonna be better than I ever imagined."● Segment: Miscellaneous “whosits and whatsits galore”○ Kerry and Cori Went to Disneyland!Next Week (two weeks): Big Hero SixTop 4: Siblings

She hears all about the amazing things the nature fairies get to do to bring spring to the mainland and is excited to go see it. Using her talent she creates devices she intends to take to the mainland to help her fellow fairies. Upon learning the upsetting news that tinker fairies do not go to the mainland, she asks her friends to teach her their nature talents, hoping she can go. None of her attempts are successful and she seeks Vidia (a fast-flying/wind fairy) for help and she purposefully sabotages Tinker Bell. The situation quickly turns into chaos, ruining the preparations the other fairies have made, preventing spring from coming on time. When Tinker Bell confesses her fault in the destruction to Queen Clarion, Vidia accidentally lets it slip that she put Tinkerbell in the situation to begin with. Tinker Bell takes initiative and invents things to help speed up production so spring can start on time. These things are successful and the fairies disembark for the Mainland. However, a fight occurs, resulting in Runeard's death. The battle enrages the elemental spirits of earth, fire, water, and air of the forest. The spirits disappear and a wall of mist encases everyone in the forest. Runeard's son Prince Agnarr barely escapes with the help of an unknown savior.○ Three years after her coronation,[b] Elsa celebrates autumn in the kingdom with Anna, Olaf the snowman, Kristoff the ice harvester, and Kristoff's reindeer Sven. When Elsa hears a mysterious voice calling out to her, she follows it and unintentionally awakens the elemental spirits, which forces everyone in the kingdom to evacuate. Grand Pabbie and the Trolls colony arrive to Arendelle and Pabbie informs that they must set things right by discovering the truth about the kingdom's past.○ Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven embark to the Enchanted Forest, following the mysterious voice. After the mist parts at Elsa's touch, the air spirit, in the form of a tornado, appears and sweeps everyone in its vortex. Elsa stops it, forming a set of ice sculptures. The sisters discover the sculptures are images from their father's past and that their mother, Queen Iduna, was a Northuldra who saved Agnarr. They encounter the Northuldra and a troop of Arendellian soldiers who are still at conflict with one another before the fire spirit appears. Elsa discovers the spirit to be an agitated magical salamander, and calms it down. Elsa and Anna form a truce between the soldiers and the Northuldra by explaining that their mother was Northuldran and their father was Arendellian. Elsa later learns the existence of a fifth spirit who will unite people and the magic of nature.○ Elsa continues to head north with Anna and Olaf, leaving Kristoff and Sven behind. They find their parents' shipwreck and a map with a route to Ahtohallan, a mythical river told by their mother to contain all explanations of the past. Elsa decides to travel alone while sending Anna and Olaf away to safety. Elsa encounters and tames Nokk, the water spirit who guards the sea to Ahtohallan. Reaching Ahtohallan, Elsa discovers that the voice was the call of Iduna, and that her powers were gifted by the magic of nature because of Iduna's selfless act of saving Agnarr, making Elsa the fifth spirit. Elsa then learns that the dam was built as a ruse to reduce the Northuldra's resources because of Runeard's dislike of the tribe's connection with magic, and that Runeard was the one who initiated the conflict by killing the leader of the Northuldra. Elsa sends this information to Anna before becoming frozen, due to venturing into the most dangerous part of Ahtohallan, which in turn causes Olaf to fade away.○ Anna receives Elsa's message and concludes that the dam must be destroyed for peace to be restored. Anna finds and awakens the sleeping gigantic earth spirits, and lures them towards the dam, which is destroyed by boulders hurled by the giants. Elsa thaws out and returns to Arendelle, stopping a flood from the destroyed dam. As the wall of mist disappears, Elsa reunites with Anna and resurrects Olaf. Kristoff proposes to Anna, who accepts. Elsa explains that she and Anna are now the bridge between the people and the magical spirits. Anna becomes the new Queen of Arendelle, while Elsa becomes the protector of the Enchanted Forest who regularly visits Arendelle as peace is restored in all the lands.○ In a post-credits scene, Olaf visits Elsa's ice palace and tells Marshmallow and the Snowgies[c] about the events he experienced.○ Film Trivia - IMDB■ Young Elsa is voiced by Mattea Conforti, who portrayed Young Anna in the Broadway adaptation of Frozen.■ In the beginning when young Anna and Elsa are playing with snow figurines, a figure resembling Baymax from "Big Hero 6" can be spotted in addition to one resembling Totoro from "My Neighbor Totoro”■ In a flashback, Prince Agnar says he's reading a book by "some new Danish author." This is probably an allusion to Hans Christian Andersen, whose fairy tale, "The Snow Queen," inspired the plot of the original film.■ Since Elsa was never barefoot in the original movie, the animators didn't bother giving her toes then. They had to remodel her feet with toes for the sequel.● Segment: Miscellaneous “whosits and whatsits galore”○ What we’ve been watching on Disney + Tease Next Week: Tarzan 2Top 4: Favorite Sequels

At this ball Clara argues with her father and runs off, finding a golden thread leads her in a Narnia-esque way to another land where she finds the key to the box her mother left to her, but it is taken by a mouse. While clara pursues the mouse, she meets a soldier named Phillip, and the regents who preside over three realms. They tell Clara they are at war with the Land of Amusements which they refer to as "the Fourth Realm" led by the evil mother ginger. One of the regents, The Sugar Plum Fairy, explains that Clara's mother Marie created this world as a young girl, and that she animated everyone with a machine that can turn toys into real people. Sugar Plum says this machine can be used to defend the three realms against Mother Ginger, the Regent of the Fourth Realm, but it needs a key matching the one for Clara's box. Clara and Phillip must now enter a fourth realm to retrieve the key and restore harmony to the unstable land.○ Film Trivia - IMDB■ At the beginning of the ballet telling the story of the Four Realms, the conductor mounts the podium and conducts an orchestra appearing in silhouette. This is a tribute to the Disney classic Fantasia (1940), which included a segment based on "The Nutcracker Suite."■ Marie was name of the heroine of E.T.A. Hoffmann's original Nutcracker tale. She was renamed Clara in Alexandre Dumas' adaptation, on which the ballet was based. This movie's heroine is Clara, daughter of Marie.■ The Nutcracker's name, Hoffmann, comes from the author of the source story: E.T.A. Hoffmann.■ Third collaboration between Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen since Pride & Prejudice (2005) and Anna Karenina (2012).■ Jack Whitehall: as a Harlequin palace guard. Whitehall has a history of publicly stating his love for Disney and his wishes to be cast in any role for their films.● Comedian Lion King rant (Language warning) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfcApowdmxs■ The score follows the ballet's story, hinting what is about to happen throughout the whole movie. For example: When Clara first crosses the threshold to Mother Ginger's fair while leading the group of soldiers, the true villain of the film is foreshadowed, as the music in the background is a fragment of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" from "The Nutcracker Suite." and also Towards the end of the movie, Clara's father recognized the song from the egg as the song to which he shared his first dance with Marie. This song is Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Pas de Deux," which is played in the ballet when the Nutcracker is dancing with Clara for the first time.● Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”○ Live Action Little Mermaid Was Last Night○ Disney Plus launches next week on the 12th● Segment: Miscellaneous “Whosits & Whatsits Galore”○ Disney Trivia - Mandela Effect● Segment: Top 4 Ranking “Let’s get down to business” ○ Top 4 Live Action Female Leads○ 1.Elizabeth Swann○ 2.Mary Poppins○ 3.Cinderella○ 4.EglantineTease Next Week: Tarzan 2Top 4: Favorite Sequels

Lucas Deranian poses as their uncle in order to get the kids into the clutches of Deranian's megalomaniacal boss, evil millionaire Aristotle Bolt, who wants to exploit them. Jason, a cynical widower, helps Tia and Tony "escape to witch mountain," while at the same time Tia and Tony help Jason escape the pain of the loss of his wife.○ Film Trivia - IMDB■ The character of Tia in the flashback sequences was played by Kim Richards' real-life younger sister Kyle Richards.■ Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann, who play the children in this movie and in Return from Witch Mountain (1978), appeared in a scene in Race to Witch Mountain (2009). Eisenmann is "Sheriff Antony" in the bar, and Richards is "Tina" the waitress. In this movie and its 1978 sequel, their names were similar: "Tony" and "Tia", respectively.■ At one point during the fight scene between Tony and Truck, Dermott Downs punched the bat so hard, it hit Ike Eisenmann. In some scenes, despite the make-up department's best efforts, you can see a greenish bruise under his left eye.■ Knowing that it was an integral part of the story, Ike Eisenmann (Tony) bought a harmonica and taught himself to play it, unaware that he would be dubbed in the end by professional harmonica player Tommy Morgan.■ The primary cat who portrayed Winky was temperamental and difficult with which to work, particularly for Ike Eisenmann (Tony), who sustained numerous cuts and scratches from the feline.■ The Pine Woods Orphanage was actually Peninsula School of Creative Education in Menlo Park, California. The secluded sixty-room mansion was built in 1880 and converted into a school in 1925. There are countless stories of hauntings in the mansion, which were played up in the original press materials for this movie.■ The marionettes from the playroom sequence continue to be used for performances at the Bob Baker Marionette Theater, which has been designated as a historic landmark in Los Angeles, California.■ The name of the mysterious item that Tia carried around, which contained a map, was a "star case". Tia's star case, which housed the map to Witch Mountain, had an additional purpose in the novel. In Key's novel, Tia was mute (but communicate telepathically with Tony) and carried pencils and paper in the star case to write notes to people.■ In one scene, Tony and Tia go on an outing to see the movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937).● Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”○ New Jim Henson series “earth to Ned” coming to Disney +○ Rise of Skywalker Ticket Sales prove fan boycott to be empty threat■ When tickets for The Rise of Skywalker went on sale this past Monday, media outlets were quick to publish stories that the film’s pre-sales outpaced Avengers: Endgame for its first hour on Atom Tickets. Kevin Corcoran as younger son “Moochie”, and Tommy Kirk as the lead, “Wilby”. Wilby Daniels is an awkward teenage inventor that seems to be capable of financing his best friend “Buzz”’s romantic life, but has not been able to date himself. He wants to change this when he and Buzz both catch sight of their new French neighbor Francesca, - Francesca needs to go to the local museum, so Buzz and Wilby trip over themselves to take her. While at the museum, they split up, and Wilby runs into Dr. Plumcutt, a former customer on his paper route. Dr. Plumcutt tells Wilby all about the Borgia family, their sinister reputation, and their secret dog magic. Afterward, Wilby knocks over a display of antique jewelry, only to realize that he has stolen, ahem, “acquired” a Borgia ring and smuggled it out of the museum in the cuff of his pants. Wilby reads the inscription on the ring aloud and inadvertently turns himself into a dog - which happens to be identical to Francesca’s “Bratislavan sheepdog”, Chiffon. Wilby returns to Dr. Plumcutt at the museum, who takes talking to a dog in impressive stride, and basically is told there isn’t anything he can do except perhaps an act of bravery to break the curse. Wilby switches uncontrollably back and forth between dog and boy, and manages to cause mayhem at a dance and discover a spy ring trying to steal government secrets led by none other than Francesca’s adoptive father. Through another long series of events, and the police refusing to listen to the Daniels family about the spies, and Wilby, in dog form, steals Buzz’s car and leads the police to the harbor, where the spies are escaping with Francesca in tow. Wilby tries to board the boat himself to stop them, but Francesca is knocked into the water and dog-Wilby leaps into the water and drags her to safety, breaking the curse (although no one actually realizes it, and all credit is given to Chiffon). Wilby’s dog-hating father is also commended for his role in the discovery of the spy ring, and is photographed with Chiffon for the paper - for an article about Chiffon being given a medal for bravery. ● Trivia○ The initial release of The Shaggy Dog grossed more than $9 million on a budget of less than $1 million – an almost unprecedented return on a film investment, making it more profitable than Ben-Hur, released the same year.○ This movie has been remade a few times - a 1994 TV version featuring Scott Weinger and Ed Begley Jr, which kept the same general story intact, and the aforementioned 2006 horror movie version featuring Tim Allen○ “Shaggy” was actually an Old English Sheepdog named Sam - he was a pet, and was recommended for the role by his obedience trainer, William Koehler, who trained many animals for Disney movies, including The Incredible Journey, That Darn Cat, and The Ugly Dachshund.○ Sam was prepared for the car chase scene by using rubber bands to keep his hair out of his eyes and running him around in a wheel barrow, gradually increasing the intensity and speed as he got comfortable with the situation. A custom seat was made for Sam, with fur-covered “mittens” attached to the steering wheel, and a matching fur-covered seatbelt that blended in with his body.○ Some of the stunts, such as jumping off of the boat were done by a child or a little person in a sheepdog suit. (The child was Johnny Kirk, Tommy Kirk’s little brother)○ Sam accidentally stepped onto Tim Considine’s eye during filming, and scratched it.● Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”○ Not a real surprise, but Disney release windows are not expected to vary after the release of Disney+○ Disney released a TON of content that is going to be available on Disney+○ Maleficent: Mistress of Evil scheduled for release on October 18, 2019● Segment: Whosits and Whatsits Galore○ Disney Trivia● Segment: Top 4 Ranking “Let’s get down to business” ○ Top 4 Most Powerful Mages○ 1. Music promoted by NCM https://goo.gl/fh3rEJ● “Feature Film” – Enchanted (2007)○ This movie is an insane amount of nods to other movies to there is a ton of trivia I will need to limit myself.○ According to director Kevin Lima, "thousands" of references are made to past and future works of Disney in Enchanted (2007), which serve as both a parody of and a "giant love letter to Disney classics". As Lima worked with Bill Kelly, the writer, to inject Disney references to the plot, it became "an obsession"; he derived the name of every character as well as anything that needed a name from past Disney films to bring in more Disney references.○ The animated scenes were not actually done by the Disney Animation wing. It was done by James Baxter Animation, the studio responsible for Curious George ○ The first feature-length Disney live-action/traditional animation hybrid since Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988).○ One of the elderly male dancers appeared in Mary Poppins (1964) as a chimney sweep.○ When Prince Edward is knocking on apartment doors in search of Giselle, the very first door is opened by Judy Kuhn, the singing voice of the title character of Pocahontas (1995).○ While Giselle is looking in the fish tank "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid (1989) is playing as background music. In the same scene, Jodi Benson plays the secretary - she also played the lead as Ariel in The Little Mermaid (1989).○ When Prince Edward is flipping through TV channels in the hotel room, the soap opera he watches features Paige O'Hara, the voice of Belle in Beauty and the Beast (1991)○ At the beginning, Giselle is creating a mannequin of her 'true love'. The outfit it is wearing is never worn by the prince - but it is worn by Robert at the ball, near the end of the film.○ As we see Giselle progress into a modern woman, so does her wardrobe. She begins in the over-the-top wedding gown, then to the very princessy long gown, then to a very girly but short dress, and finally, into a modern evening gown. In the same way, Robert's wardrobe regresses from suit and tie to more casual clothing, and ending in a very prince-like outfit at the ball.○ At the end of Robert and Giselle's dance, when Nancy cuts in, the camera angle makes it look as though she is wearing a crown. This foreshadows that she will become the future ruler of Andalasia when she returns there and marries Edward.○ Thoughts on the film?● Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”○ TOM HOLLAND IS BACK!!!○ Daveed Diggs in talks to be Sebastian in Little Mermaid Remake?● Segment: This week in Disney history “Once Upon a Time”○ We have gone a full year I realize we may need to change up what we do so I'm going to ask Deanna and Cori some trivia questions and pit them against each other to see who will be this week’s top disney fan.● Segment: Top 4 Ranking “Let’s get down to business” ○ Top 4 Disney Princes○ 1. However, Flynn is transported into the digital world, where he has to face off against Dillinger's computerized likeness, Sark, and the imposing Master Control Program. Aided by Tron (Bruce Boxleitner) and Yori (Cindy Morgan), Flynn becomes a freedom fighter for the oppressed programs of the grid.○ The film was disqualified from receiving an Academy Award nomination for special effects, because the Academy felt at the time that using computers was "cheating".○ To inspire the actors, arcade games were placed on the production sets and could be played during downtime. Jeff Bridges apparently was the most adept at the games and found it hard to tear himself away from a game to shoot a scene.○ Although the film was an initial failure, the arcade video games based on it proved to be a tremendous hit and actually out-grossed the film.○ Many Disney animators refused to work on this movie because they feared that computers would put them out of business. In fact, 22 years later Disney closed its hand-drawn animation studio in favor of CGI animation. Hand-drawn animation was ultimately resumed at Disney at the behest of new creative director John Lasseter, also head of Pixar- ironically a computer animation company.○ In the initial scenes with Flynn at the arcade, he is playing a game he invented called Space Paranoids. The game he is playing bears remarkable resemblance to 3-D graphics game engines, which would not be invented for ten more years.○ The state-of-the-art computer used for the film's key special effects had only 2MB of memory and 330MB of storage○ The programmers' cubicles at Encom were shot using the actual programmers' cubicles at The Walt Disney Company's Information Technology group. A matte painting was used to expand the area to a size more appropriate to a software company.○ The ENCOM laser bay was real. It was actually the target bay for the twenty-beam SHIVA solid-state laser facility at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. It was used for nuclear fusion research in the late seventies and early eighties, and was capable of delivering up to 28 trillion watts of power on target.○ All the live action that occurred inside the computer was filmed in black and white, and colorized later with photographic and rotoscopic techniques.○ HIDDEN MICKEY: At 1:12:26 in the "solar sailer" sequence, you'll see, for a brief moment, the silhouette of Mickey Mouse on the ground made to look like part of the terrain.● Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”○ Disney + is available for Pre-Order $6.99/month $69.99/year○ New Frozen 2 Trailer!!○ Kevin Feige Developing a new Star Wars movie● Segment: This week in Disney history “Once Upon a Time”○ September 27th 1996 - Sabrina the Teenage Witch, a new sitcom based on the Archie Comics series of the same name, premieres on ABC-TV (which Disney acquired earlier in the year).● Segment: Top 4 Ranking “Let’s get down to business” ○ Oh my disney “Only a true Disney Princess fan can get 100% on this quiz”Tease Next Week: Enchanted Top 4: Disney Princes.

Penny is also a child actress, and when we fast forward 5 years, Bolt actually believes he is actually a lab-enhanced superdog in the spy movie like setting of the TV show he and Penny star in. He spends every filming believing that he is actually saving Penny from the evil green-eyed man. One day when filming ends at a cliffhanger, Bolt freaks out, thinking Penny is actually still in danger and needing to be rescued. He manages to find his way into a shipping crate and ends up in New York, where he begins his mission to find the green-eyed man and save Penny. In New York, he meets a streetwise alley cat named Mr. Mittens, that is coerced into helping him find his way back home to Hollywood. Along the way, the two bond and find a new friend - Rhino, a hamster and a huge fan of Bolt. Along the way, Bolt has to come to grips with the fact that he is not really a superdog, and that maybe it’s okay just being a dog. And eventually, just being a loyal “regular dog” helps him find penny and save her from a studio fire before they retire together to just be friends instead of co-stars.○ Trivia○ First Disney animated feature conceived and produced in 3-D. (Chicken Little and Meet the Robinsons were converted to 3D after the fact)○ Chloe Moretz voiced THE ENTIRE FILM before they got Miley Cyrus on board○ Developed by Chris Sanders, the creator of Lilo & Stitch - Bolt was originally a VERY different film○ In order to properly animate Rhino, the crew adopted a real hamster which they called Doink and filmed it from beneath while it was walking on a sheet of Plexiglas. Her dream takes a slight detour when she meets Prince Naveen, who has been turned into an amphibian by evil Dr. Facilier. Mistaking her for a princess and hoping to break the spell, Naveen plants a kiss on poor Tiana -- thereby turning her into a frog as well. The pair hop along on an adventure through the bayous to seek the help of a powerful voodoo priestess.○ Trivia○ The first Disney movie to feature an African-American princess.○ This is Disney's first 2-D film in which all of the voice actors do both the speaking and singing parts since, Beauty and the Beast (1991).○ The animation style was influenced primarily by Lady and the Tramp (1955), for the city scenes, and Bambi (1942), for the bayou scenes. Those films were, in the directors' opinion, "the peak of animation in the classic Disney animation style."○ This was supposed to spearhead a return to hand-drawn animation but subsequent research after the film's disappointing box office run indicated that audiences thought it was old-fashioned.○ First Disney film since The Lion King (1994) to have more than one song be nominated for Best Original song at the Academy Awards. ( It Lost Best Animated Picture to UP)○ For much of the film, Naveen calls Tiana "Princess" and later "Waitress", symbolizing his objectification of women as a whole. He doesn't call her by her real name until after the song 'Ma Belle Evangeline', when he starts to fall in love with her.○ The last line of Dr. Facilier's Friends On the Other Side song is "You got what you wanted but you lost what you had", which is in direct contrast to Mama Odie's song about finding who you are and learning what you need; accentuating the evil side vs good side of voodoo. Jon Favreau happened to be a fan of his and suggested the thought to Eichner's agent, who told him about it; he accepted it in a heartbeat.Jon Faverau revealed in an interview that he brought James Earl Jones back as the voice of Mufasa because: "I see it as carrying the legacy across. Just hearing him say the lines is really moving and surreal, the timbre of his voice has changed. That served the role well because he sounds like a king who's ruled for a long time."Scar's villainous song "Be Prepared" was originally to be left out of the film due to its Nazi themes which Disney executives were afraid to tackle and also because Chiwetel Ejiofor's voice was not fit for the singing. As Woody and Bo discuss the old days, they soon start to realize that they're two worlds apart when it comes to what they want from life as a toy.○ Second Chance Antiques was one of the hardest locations for the Toy Story 4 (2019) team to create, because of the breadth of items that had to fill out the cramped second-hand store. "Fortunately, at Pixar, we have a big 'backlot' of objects from all of our feature films," production designer Bob Pauley told The Hollywood Reporter. ○ Duke Caboom is obviously inspired by real-life stunt man (turned kid's toy) Evel Knievel, right down to his Canadian garb spoofing Knievel's red-white-and-blue costume. But it goes further; Knievel's motorcycle toy was advertised on commercials like the one seen in Toy Story 4, most with the toy performing impossible feats that set expectations that the real thing could never match.○ "It was a big treasure hunt because we have a lot of interesting history, and we also took the opportunity to plant some fun Easter eggs," added supervising technical director Bob Pauley○ Gabby Gabby is a nod to the popular Chatty Cathy dolls of the early to mid '60s○ Among the myriad items on shelves at the antique shop, Bing Bong's rocket from Inside Out (2015) and Ellie and Carl's house from Up (2009) can be seen.○ Duke Caboom, a Canadian action figure toy who first appeared in Jack-Jack's crib in Incredibles 2 (2018)○ The carnival worker has a tattoo of the pizza planet truck on the back of his leg.● Segment: This week in Disney history “Once Upon a Time”○ July 2nd 1986 – The Great Mouse Detective is released in the US.● Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”○ New Lion King Cast promo photos: https://www.popsugar.com/entertainment/Lion-King-New-Cast-Character-Photos-46339638○ New designer ear hats/headbands: https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2019/07/new-designer-ear-headbands-revealed-from-the-disney-parks-designer-collection-coming-to-disney-parks-shopdisney/ ● Segment: Top 4 Ranking “Let’s get down to business” ○ Toy Story Characters1. Charlie grows up in the logging cap begging scraps from cook Potlatch and dodging his nemesis, the fox terrier Chainsaw. Good-natured Charlie is friendly and curious, but this gets him into a lot of trouble, destroying multiple kitchens and just causing general mayhem because of his size and not understanding that he is a cougar not a person. When Charlie’s misbehavior causes too much trouble in the logging camp, Jess has to keep him penned up, but bored Charlie manages to escape and meet up with a young “cougarette”. Charlie gets lost, and has to spend time out in the wild, learning to survive and to fear humans after a farmer takes a couple shots at him. When Charlie returns to the logging camp and behaves aggressively, Jess calms him down, but realizes that Charlie can’t live among humans anymore. He takes Charlie to live in a wildlife sanctuary, where he once again meets the lady cougar and settles into a happy, wild-life with her.○ Trivia: i. Last project approved by Disney himself ii. It is then Lewis meets young time-traveler named Wilbur Robinson who tells him he needs to fix the Memory Scanner or it would screw up the space time continuum forever. Lewis needs convincing that Wilbur is from the future so Wilbur whisks Lewis away in his time machine. The boys spend a day in the future with Wilbur's eccentric family and learn what really makes family all while being pursued by a mysterious sinister man in a bowler hat.○ Trivia: i. Started as a live action projectii. After their agreement with Pixar expired, Disney formed the new Walt Disney Animation Studios, of which this is the first film.iii. After reading the screenplay, director Stephen J. Anderson actively lobbied to direct this movie. As a child of adoption himself, Anderson personally experienced many of the emotions (questions about belonging, being wanted, etc) that Lewis expresses in the film. iv. The character of Lewis was voiced by both Daniel Hansen and Jordan Fry. Daniel Hansen voiced Lewis at the beginning of the film's production, but had to be recast when his voice “broke” and when Lewis needed things changed, they had Jordan Fry re-dub some segments. It is noticeable in some parts of the movie.v. The Robinsons' topiary garden is inspired by Walt Disney World. Large, intricate topiaries (generally of Mickey and other easily recognizable characters) have long been a staple of Disney World. Also, the Robinsons' garden features colored circular "bounce" pads; during the scenes where the characters bounce on these, they bounce in the same way as the "jumping" fountains outside the Imagination! pavilion at Epcot (which also jump from colored circles).vi. Director Stephen J. Anderson and actor Ethan Sandler voiced a significant amount of the cast between them. Many of these characters interact; consequently, the two spent much time in voice-over sessions together. Stephen played Bowler Hat Guy / Grandpa Bud / Tallulah and Ethan played Doris / CEO / Spike / Dmitri / Laszlo / Fritz / Petuniavii. When Wilbur is revealing his family, he says his dad looks like Tom Selleck. Tom Selleck indeed provides the voice for Wilbur's Dad.viii. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyfGqNow4lI● Segment: This week in Disney history “Once Upon a Time”○ June 15 2018 - Incredibles 2 was released after a long wait.○ June 16, 1955- Disney's 15th animated feature film Lady and the Tramp has its world premiere in Chicago. In order to separate this from the similar movie The Land Before Time (1988), the film was intended not to have any dialogue at all, but Michael Eisner of Disney insisted they include it.ii. The backgrounds in the movie are actually superimposed photos of exotic tropical locations such as Tahiti and Hawaii. iii. One original concept for the dialogue in the film would have seen the characters not moving their lips and beaks to talk but rather as voice-overs, similar to Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993).iv. Initially, the directors were to use the popular Tyrannosaurus as the film's antagonistic predator but at around the time of production, The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) was released, which depicted a somewhat softer, motherly side to the classic dinosaur. Thus, a Carnotaurus was used. However, they still changed the Carnotaurus's size and ferocity to that of a Tyrannosaurus. In real life, Carnotaurs were smaller than Iguanodons. v. At an official $130 million (unofficially $200 million) it is the most expensive movie released in 2000.vi. The original planned opening shot, showing the meteor moving through space, was cut when an identical opening shot was used in Armageddon (1998).vii. Unfortunately the Plot ended up like Tarzan in many ways viii. The attraction called Dinosaur (previously called Countdown to Extinction) at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park was originally to be created/opened at the same time as the movie's release as part of the company's "synchronicity" between branches of the WDC, but due to the overwhelming technology development required to begin production, the film's opening was delayed. Even though it was started after the film was in-production, the theme park ride opened first (by almost 18 months) before the movie's release; hence, the ride's name change later.ix. First Disney Animated Feature Film to be Computer Animated instead of Traditionally Hand Drawn. This is not an easy task, for The Evil Horned King will stop at nothing to get the power of the cauldron.Taran along with the young princess Eilonwy, the bard Fflewddur Fflam, and a wild creature named Gurgi seek to destroy the cauldron, to prevent the Horned King from ruling the world.● Trivia:● The movie is loosely based upon the first two books in Lloyd Alexander's Prydain Chronicles ("The Book of Three" and "The Black Cauldron"). ● The first Disney animated movie to not contain any songs, neither performed by characters nor in the background.● This movie is notable for being the first full-length Disney animated movie to incorporate computer graphics imagery (CGI) in its animation. The CGI was utilized for a lot of the special effects, which included the bubbles, a boat, a floating orb of light, the Cauldron, the realistic flames seen near the end of the movie, and the boat that Taran and his friends used to escape the castle. The dimensions and volume of the animated objects were fed into a computer and then their shapes were manipulated through computer programming before they were transferred as physical outlines the animators could work on. Despite this movie being released a year before The Great Mouse Detective (1986), both were in production simultaneously, and the computer graphics for the latter were done first. When Producer Joe Hale heard about what was being done, the possibilities made him excited, and he made the crew from The Great Mouse Detective (1986) create some computer animation for his own movie. For others effects, Animator Don Paul used live-action footage of dry ice mists to create the steam and smoke coming out of the Cauldron.● Tim Burton, worked as a Conceptual Artist on this movie● The first Disney animated theatrical movie to receive a PG rating, and had been the only one to have that rating up until The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) and Dinosaur(2000). ● There is an urban legend that, despite the movie's failure in the U.S., it was popular in Japan, so much so, that the creator of the Legend of Zelda series, Shigeru Miyamoto, based a lot of the game's elements on this movie. ● When the Horned King activates the power of the Black Cauldron, the sound of a space shuttle launch was used.● Segment: Misc “Whosits and Whatsits Galore” ● Comicpaloozao First started attending in 2014o We are Cosplayers!o First cosplay contest in 2015 with a Disney Princess Wrap Battle Skit as Anna, Elsa and Ariel.● This year Kerry Entered a solo Skit as Human Tamatoao Story of Audio issues and what happened to Kerryo Going at the end and winning best skito Tamatoa Skit o Oogie Boogie Skit● Lounge Princess Photo Shoot – Taken by: Jonathan Vilches @j.a.vilches “Lounge Princess” Meetup Photoshoot Photoso How the idea happenedo Cosplayers Involved: ▪ Cinderella: Princess Deanna Cosplay▪ Aurora: SchmittydeCali Cosplay▪ Ariel: Lady Loodlz Cosplay▪ Belle: Backsplit Cosplay▪ Jasmine: Keriko Cosplay▪ Mulan: SherrBear▪ Rapunzel: Fairy La Fey▪ Merida: Pastel Colored Cosplay▪ Anna: Noontime Shadows Cosplay▪ Elsa: Rumple and Cat Cosplay▪ Moana: Charming Darling▪ Vanellope: Clown Girl Cosplay● Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”○ Disney has complete control over Hulu now.○ Live Action Aladdin comes out this Weekend!● Segment: weekly top 4 (secret from each other)”Let’s get down to business”○ Top 4 Disney Dark Moments: 1 - Pinocchio - pleasure island “jack asses” 2 - The Hunchback of Notre Dame - Hellfire/Frollo at the Beginning 3 - Snow White - All the Dark things 4 - Fantasia - Night on Bald Mountain “Chernabog”Next Week: New Live Action Aladdin Top 4: Disney/Pixar Shorts Contact info: Social Media: Facebook: Faith Trust and Pixie Dust - Podcast Email: 1stgeek411@gmail.com Twitter: @FTPD_PodcastPersonal Twitters: @Sparkle_Fists @SpilledXWater @deanna790Check us out on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, and Spotify!!!

Basil, the rodent Sherlock Holmes, investigates the kidnapping of a toy-maker and uncovers its link to his arch-enemy, Professor Ratigan.○ Thoughts and Reactions?○ Fun Facts■ The clock tower scene is the first major use of computer animation (the clock's gears) in a feature-length animated film. The same scene was also the first time traditionally-animated characters were put inside a computer-generated background.■ The "Let Me Be Good To You" segment was almost cut because though brief, the lyrics and some animation was considered "too risque" for a Disney animated family film, the animators avoided a PG rating and got the scene kept in by appealing to the censors on the grounds that the segment was a Cabaret song and harmless in lyrics, and because the character animated singing it was a mouse, not a human and thus not questionable.■ Basil of Baker Street is named after Basil Rathbone, who played Sherlock Holmes in 14 films. By strange coincidence, Basil was also a name used by a disguised Holmes in Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Adventure of Black Peter."■ Alan Young had performed a near-perfect Scottish accent as the voice Scrooge McDuck for the 1977 Disneyland Records adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" (which he also developed and wrote). He repeated the role of McDuck in Mickey's Christmas Carol(1983), and was a natural for the Scottish accent of Hiram Flaversham.■ The first meeting between Basil and Dawson where Basil guesses he came from Afghanistan and gives a complicated explanation how he assume it, mirrors first meeting between Holmes and Watson in Arthur Conan Doyle's "A Study in Scarlet" (the first Holmes novel) where Holmes does the same thing.■ Production took only one year to complete thanks to the use of computers.● Segment: This week in Disney history “Once Upon a Time”○ April 10th 1992 - Disney's live-action feature film musical Newsies is released in theaters.● Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”○ Should be getting Star Wars Episode 9 Trailer the day this episode goes up. ○ Dumbo is not doing well at the box office■ "Oh man, they could teach a film course on why Dumbo didn't work. It was like Tim Burton was going through the emotions. It felt like an expensive, uninspired story told very blandly without Disney or Burton's signature magic," says box office analyst Jeff Bock with Exhibitor Relations. "What a missed opportunity. I doubt we'll see a Burton budget like this again."○ Avengers: Endgame Ticket Sale Chaos■ "Endgame" set Fandango's first day pre-sales record overtaking "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." It broke the record in only six hours, the online ticket seller reported on Tuesday evening○ Cast for the Little Mermaid 30th anniversary Concert announced● Segment: weekly top 4 (secret from each other)”Let’s get down to business”○ Top 4 Disney Duos:1. Along the way, he is given a tour of Walt Disney Studios, and learns about the animation process.○ According to supplemental information on the DVD this film was rushed into production to help keep the studio solvent. The start of WW2 closed Europe to American movies and this cut off much needed revenue for Disney. When it was released it did save the studio but it was not well received and was heavily criticized by the public who were expecting a full animated feature.○ Features How to Ride a Horse (1950), the first of the Goofy "How-to" cartoons. When narrator John McLeish was brought in to record the narration, he was asked to read it in a very straightforward manner, as if for a serious documentary about horse riding. He was shocked when he was told that the narration he recorded would be used in a Goofy cartoon.○ In the sound effects department the workers are creating sound effects for a piece of film with the train Casey Junior. Casey would pop up in Disney's next film, Dumbo (1941). Likewise in the art department, the animators are making sketches for "Dumbo". Bambi also makes a minor appearance in this film, a year before Bambi (1942) was released.○ Most of the 'animators' shown in the film were actually actors hired to portray animators. And this film, showing the Disney animation studios as a happy, coherent family, was released at the worst possible moment, when half of the actual animators went out on strike. The strikers frequently picketed theaters showing the film, sometimes holding up a large cardboard sign depicting Walt Disney as a dragon, labeled 'The Reluctant Disney.'○ Maquettes in the model department include Jiminy Cricket and the drunk cuckoo clock from Pinocchio (1940), characters from Fantasia (1940) including Chernabog, a black centaurette that Robert Benchley takes with him, and the Knight from The Reluctant Dragon (1941).○ In the "Baby Weems" sequence, Mount Rushmore is seen with only George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The faces were still under construction until October 1941 and this movie was released before it was finished, which is why Theodore Roosevelt and Thomas Jefferson are missing.● Segment: This week in Disney history “Once Upon a Time”○ March 20th 2014 – Aladdin the stage musical opens on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre.○ March 22nd 2018 Frozen The Broadway Musical opens at the St. James Theatre.● Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”○ Toy Story 4 Trailer Release○ Thoughts on the 21st Century Fox Purchase■ Disney has 60% stake in Hulu○ Captain Marvel News■ 18th highest Opening Weekend film after Rogue One.■ Number one at the Box office 2 weekends in a row■ In its opening weekend, Marvel Studios' "Captain Marvel" made $153 million in North America and $455 million worldwide. Charlie, Carrie, and Paul are children displaced from London by German bombings and are put into the reluctant care of Miss Eglantine Price - an apprentice witch learning her craft via a correspondence course.○ The children find out Miss Price’s secret when they see her flying on a broom and attempt to blackmail her. Miss Price buys their secrecy with a transportation spell that allows their bed to travel anywhere in the world and explains that she is trying to use her powers to end the war. However, in a bit of an ironic twist, it appears as though the war has put a premature end to her course. Still determined to use magic to end the war, Miss Price and the children take the bed to London to find her teacher, Professor Emelius Browne. They find Mr. Browne, but it turns out that he is nothing but a street magician turned con-artist who had no idea that his “spells” actually work. When Miss Price asks about the spells, he says he got all of them from a book he found - but he doesn’t have the entire book.Delighted at the prospect of his spells actually working and the idea of a duo performing act starring himself and Miss Price, Mr. Browne leads the group to the Portobello Road marketplace in hopes of finding the rest of the book - in their search they come across the mysterious criminal the Bookman - who has the other half of the book, which reveals that the spell is written on a medallion on the mystical Island of Naboombu. Our group takes the bed to Naboombu and meet the King - who is wearing the sought-after medallion and is very upset that they don’t have a referee for their soccer match. Mr. Browne agrees to referee the match and attempts to use the opportunity to get a better look at the medallion. After a chaotic soccer match, the group manages to retrieve the spell and return to England. The “substitutiary locomotion” spell makes inanimate objects move in a lifelife way, and as the group returns and finds a Nazi invasion in England, Miss Price uses the spell to create an army of inanimate objects and fend off the Nazis. Afterward, she is pleased with her success, but has decided to give up magic and continue looking after the children. Mr. Browne is inspired to do something more important and joins the army (promising to return to Miss Price after ;) )○ Fun facts: ○ Weird relationship with Mary Poppins - Bedknobs repeatedly shelved○ Stage musical -2019???? Lionesses who followed scar happily in the first movie have been exiled to the Shadow lands and are led by a lioness named Zira. The rest of the lions live at Pride Rock with Simba as their leader. Simba’s daughter Kiara meets Zira’s son, Kovu, who was picked by scar to be his heir. The two try to become friends but are drawn apart by their fighting parents. This gives Zira the idea to train her son to fight so that one day he can go back to pride rock under the guise of wanting to be friends/part of their pride and once he gets their trust he can kill Simba. What Zira didn’t plan on was actual love blossoming between Kiara and Kovu. Who together try to make their broken tribe one again.○ Fun facts: Just as the first movie is said to be based upon "Hamlet," the sequel has elements of another Shakespeare play, "Romeo and Juliet."○ Most of the original cast reprise their roles from the original, with the notable exceptions of Rowan Atkinson, who was replaced by Edward Hibbert as the voice of Zazu. Jeremy Irons was also replaced by Jim Cummings as the voice of Scar in this film, as he originally did for the last few lyrics of the song "Be Prepared."○ The opening song, "He Lives In You," was also used in the Broadway version of The Lion King.○ Suzanne Pleshette and Jason Marsden portray mother and son, Zira and Kovu. Three years following this film, the two actors went on to voice characters with a similar relationship in the Oscar-winning Hayao Miyazaki's animated feature, Spirited Away(2001).● Segment: This week in Disney history “Once Upon a Time”○ A bunch of movies won Oscars○ Feb 26, 2014: Aladdin Musical Makes its Broadway Debut● Segment: Misc “Whosits and Whatsits Galore”○ Pixar short “Purl”○ Pixar Short “Kitbull”● Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”○ Aladdin Trailer - Genie○ New Captain Marvel Trailers○ Frozen 2● Segment: weekly top 4 (secret from each other)”Let’s get down to business”● Top 4 Disney Couples○ Mr and Mrs Incredible / Bob and Helen Parr○ Eugene and Rapunzel○ Carl and Ellie○ Roger and AnitaContact info: Social Media: Facebook: Faith Trust and Pixie Dust - Podcast Email: 1stgeek411@gmail.com Twitter: @FTPD_PodcastPersonal Twitters: @Sparkle_Fists @SpilledXWater @deanna790Check us out on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Podcasts, and Spotify!!!Tease Next Week: Movie: Bedknobs and broomsticks Top 4: Top 4 worst disney movies

Later, when his mate Perdita has puppies Cruella DeVille an old friend of Anita, Roger’s wife, wants to buy them for nefarious reasons. When Anita and Roger refuse she has them stolen by two petty thieves.Pongo and Perdita go out to find their puppies and through the help of the twilight bark, save 99 puppies including their own children from being turned into coats by Cruella○ Fun Facts: ■ At the time of its release in January 1961, this was the biggest grossing animated film of all time saving the animation studio after Sleeping Beauty flopped■ the first Disney feature film to use photocopying technology (Xerography), which made an animated film with this much visual complexity possible. It also set the visual style of Disney animation (a scratchy, hard outline look) for years until the technology advanced enough (with the production of The Rescuers (1977)) to allow a softer look. ( Disney hated the sketchy look)■ The scene where the puppies suckle from some friendly cows attracted a lot of criticism at the time of release as it was deemed to be inappropriate for a children's film.■ Disney took many liberties with Dodie’s book but she absolutely loved them and believed Disney had improved upon her story. ( She had secretly wanted Disney to make a movie of her book along and was pleased when Disney snapped up the rights right after it was published)○ General thoughts and opinions?● Segment: This week in Disney history “Once Upon a Time”○ January 29, 1941: Fantasia Premiered○ Alot of super bowl winners yelled “Im going to Disneyland/world”● Segment: News/Announcements “The Newsies Banner”○ Black Panther nominated for 7 academy awards ( Best Picture, Costume Design, Original Score, Original Song, Production Design, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing)○ Mary Poppins Returns was nominated for 3 ( Costume Design, Original Score, Production Design.)○ Ralph Breaks the Internet ( best animated feature)○ Incredibles 2 ( best animated feature)○ Christopher Robin ( visual effects)○ Solo ( Visual effects)○ Avengers Infinity War ( Visual Effects)○ Bao (best animated short)● Segment: weekly top 4 (secret from each other)”Let’s get down to business”● Top 4 Disney Animated Dogs1 Pongo2 Copper3 Nana4 TobyTease Next Week: Movie: the Ugly Dachshund Top 4: Flops
