As some have seen, a new banlist dropped from Bushiroad yesterday, focusing entirely on premium... and it's completely bonkers. Our big brother, Nexus Corps, has one of its founders, Richard, guesting on our show today because one of the bans involves Gold Paladin and he's piiiiiiiiiiiiiissed! Whelp (heh) he's back! Spectral Duke Dragon, the Gold Paladin terror of early Vanguard, is coming back to V series with a new retrain, along with the Grade 1 and 2 Vortimers. However, after seeing what Bushiroad did with Duke in Vanguard Zero, where they allowed him to be a Shadow Paladin as well, begs the question: why doesn't Bushiroad release more cards that can be used in two clans at once? Or better yet, an entire nation? It's a brand new set, with some brand old guests! With Genesis and Angel Feather both being represented in the set, as well as Gold Paladin and Narukami, we couldn't NOT bring back Chris and James, could we? Well, someone had to go to make room, so we roofied Atlas and locked him in the basement while we reviewed likely the last set of V era. An old Gold Paladin buddy has surfaced after a long absence much to the joy of Conor and in this episode the Sackboys go over him and his lack luster grade 2. This is followed by a return to Ragnarock with Louis caught up joining in on the long wait between chapters.
Bushiroad took the time to release some Genesis support for the Astral Plane archetype, as well as the new Gurguit support for Gold Paladin, that was pretty much all in the interest of defense and consistency. Which would be a good thing, if episode 206 has anything to say about it. But, going off of past experience, support in the interest of consistency in Vanguard tends to be a harbinger of doom for whatever metagame it happens to be in. We finally move on from Cradles and start pursuing greater fortunes. This leads to Conor geeking about Gold Paladin for a bit before we begin a discussion about how valuable rares can be. Finally an old stride gets Andrew heated while Louis and Conor enjoy the show.
BCS Chicago, 2019. A young man manages to get to top 8 with Great Nature. Yes, in a landscape full of turn 2 striding with Gold Paladin, Neo Nectar's insane ability to vomit out plant tokens for multi-attacks, and Bermuda Triangle doing all the things, this man defied the odds to make it there. Please welcome Alex Kramer, aka Nem, who has come on to talk shop about Great Nature in premium format! Watch Atlas barely contain himself as they talk shop about the history, competitive viability, and inner workings of this oft-overlooked clan while Matt and Root Beer try their damndest to not smack their co-host upside the head.Alex Kramer/Nem's deck profile and tournament report: https://www.reddit.com/r/cardfightvanguard/comments/cvybgd/top_8_90_swiss_bcs_chicago_2019_premium_report/Check him out on his channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCunnFyaNht2CUw6RML2u0oQ/videosFollow us on Twitter or Instagram @NexusatNight, or support us on Patreon! patreon.com/nexuscorpsFollow Atlas @atlasnovack, Matt @wiggumzz, or Alvin/Root Beer @plasmaeclipse. The Miyaji Academy fighters are back! With support for Royal Paladin (again), Gold Paladin, Narukami, Nubatama, and Oracle Think Tank, the metagame is gonna get turned on its head! Or is it? Honestly the metagame gets turned on its head so many times it made Atlas nauseous. We'll be there when the cards fall short, that's the beauty of second wave support, hold on baby we're takin' you back to schooooooool! That's right, the Miyaji Academy Cardfight Club set is finally upon us. Which means Nubatama and Narukami finally get their first wave support in standard format. It also means that Royal Paladin, Gold Paladin, and Oracle Think Tank all get their official second wave support. What does this mean? Well, friend of the pod James returns with his opinions on Nubatama. Meanwhile, Matt takes a week off, and Alvin/Root Beer has mixed feelings about his beloved OTT.Follow us on Twitter or Instagram @NexusatNight, or support us on Patreon! patreon.com/nexuscorpsFollow Atlas @atlasnovack, Matt @wiggumzz, or Alvin/Root Beer @plasmaeclipse. Yay and on the third extra booster, the Bushiroad gods decreed that Gold Paladin, Neo Nectar, and Angel Feather were to get support. And Bushiroad thought this was good. But is it? In an episode where the guys care little to none about the clans represented, they consulted some friends for advice on how to unpack this... oddity that is the Ultra Rare Booster.Follow us on Twitter or Instagram @NexusatNight, Atlas @atlasnovack, Matt @wiggumzz, or Alvin/Root Beer @plasmaeclipse. For the last episode of 2016, Atlas and Matt bring back old friends Richard (the editor of the Nexus Corps Youtube channel) from our Gold Paladin episode, and Kris Brazas (aka Differentfight) to talk about what it's like to run a channel focused on Vanguard.
This week's episode finally marks the first appearance of Richard- the mastermind and editor of the Nexus Corps youtube channel on the show! He, Atlas, Matt, and Alvin talk about Gold Paladin this week, in what turns out to be the most anecdotal episode of Nexus at Night.
When Royal and Shadow Paladins Unite the Gold Paladins are formed. In our second wee discussing the Gold Paladins, Jack, Will, and Cole provide detailed info. on the top deck builds within the clan. Will highly recommends disposing of all Grand Ezel Scissors and we discuss the term Superior Call.
It's an Ezel attack as Will, Jack, and Cole begin a discussion of the Gold Paladin clan. In this episode we cover their origin story, some basic mechanics of the clan, and Bluish Flames and Liberators sub-clans. We also talk about some upcoming boosters and the term of the week: Limit Break!
Cole, Will, and Jack extensively discuss the new Cardfight!! Vanguard Start Deck: Knight of the Sun made up of the Gold Paladin clan. We also give a brief description of ability descriptors. The definition of the week is Call. Stand Up the Vanguard!
