Join the Sack Boys as they discuss the world of Card Fight Vanguard - including new releases, meta results, analysis, deck building, and much more!
Heading back to the digital world Conor and Louis look through Digimon set 6 Double Diamond. Lamenting all the cool stuff this set can bring to the game if it could only get released, and free us of our pink knight overlords.
After a job forced hiatus the Sack boys have returned to cover all of what they have missed. This includes Overdress set 3, the new banlist, as well as changes to fighters regulations all of which spell interesting things for the game of Vanguard going forward.
After a slight break the boys are back to do some major catch up with Vanguard's sixth nation. Watch in Awe as Conor deals with temptation to buy into bind based game mechanics that he so much enjoyed during V. Afterward we return to the V-Premium booster where a lot of the cards seem kinda whelming but at least they all seem to draw a single card.
A day later then expected but the boys return for another episode of Card Talk. Today Conor and Andrew have an extended conversation about card design before we jump back into Overdress set 2 to see what new tools our favorite decks have to play with. All the while actively going out of our way to avoid talking about Monster Strike because that's all we've gotten for like 3 weeks make it stop.
Andrew goes away for another episode as the sackboys do their first episode of the newly biweekly schedule. Conor and Louis return to the digital world to discuss Digimon's 5th set which is full of Omnimon, Omnimon accessories, and a few other things like a meta defining pink knight who needs an errata.
After taking another break from recording (we might as well be biweekly at this point) the boys return to talk about all the new D-set 2 releases. This includes some brand new faces, as well as the return of some old, ancient, and very not young units that caused an outrage at their reveal. Time to see what they actually do.
After a few minute long mumblefest mostly pertaining to Records of Ragnarok the Sackboys go over everything the new premium has to offer in terms of reprints for the included clans. Some of them are pretty good others.......are not. Following that they talk about new reveals making Conor even more excited for the very existence of Bruce, all the while betraying his own common sense with his choice for springfest.
Conor takes a break this week as the rest of the boys discuss the things shown off in the latest Bushiroad strategy meeting. Along with a bunch of side tangents you have probably come to know and expect from us. Along with the return of some old friends some of us wish would have stayed gone just a little bit longer.
The Sackboys are back continuing on with their discussions on the ever growing line up of Touken Ranbu. Following this the boys cheerfully celebrate the return of one of the most beloved aspects of Vanguard that was sadly missing during the V era......the lore.
Touken Ranbu makes it's long awaited return to vanguard much to the Sackboys glee, showcasing what they will bring to the game in the new Overdress era. Aside from that we have all the new cards from the new festival collection and uh.......not a lot of the new cards are good sad to say.
Conor and Louis are back at it again for another wacky trip to the digital world. Join these who as they discuss set 4 of Digimon, and all the interesting new cards that set will bring. The answer is a lot of favorites for the two of them and the man, the myth, the legend Marcus Daimon which gets both of us hype.
Reveals are finishing up today on Card Talk as the Sackboys make their way down the final reveals of the first Overdress booster all the while asking question and answering them with further questions. It eventually comes to a point where Conor has to do deploy his stand King Crimson more frequently then is usually required much to his annoyance, and amusement of the others.
While Conor is away Louis ,and Andrew will play in this two man episode. Actually it's closer to a two and a half man because they are joined by the successor to a very old friend while talking about reveals for the last week. Also something about League of Legends which has the two of them very excited.
Another week another episode of three guys going on tangents wile talking about Vanguard. This week the boys talk about all the new card Bushiroad has shown off for Overdress this includes field spell .deck, and their new favorite joke Eugene. They are however blown away by the new support Bruce has received, and now that man is ready to play some of the most violent sportsball of all time.
All four Sackboys are together again to as per usual have about thirty minutes rambling and around twenty minutes(at most) of actual card game discussion as the new subthemes of Dark States, and Keter Sanctuary are revealed. All the while the boys are still riding the high of Zorga so these new sub themes have a lot to live up to.
After many life and technical difficulties the sackboys are back ladies and non ladies, this time making a huge catch up on what they missed. This leads them down a new rabbit hole with the introduction of a new subclan that has all the sackboys extremely excited.
Life things still holding the Sackboys back but they keep trucking through Overdress reveals. This week they look at the core cards from each start deck and rank how they feel about them. As it turns out the animals are starting to become a favorite among the crew.
Back for a second time this week as the Sackboys go over the starter deck lists that Bushi has handed down to us. Some of which sporting some wonky ratios, as well as the introduction of both the Overdress mechanic and we finally go over Persona ride.
Andrew steps away for an episode leaving Conor and Louis to discuss the Digimon series. After spending a bit of time riffing into Frontier the two of them enter into a long discussion about the current card game, and how much they enjoy it. Following that they get into a discussion of the relevant cards from 1.5 that will release next month(this was recorded before the restriction list we had no idea about the banlist).
Huge news everyone as Bushiroad reveals what Overdress is, leading to a whole new era for this game with many many changes. A lot of news to cover this week so much in fact that Peter returns to the show after an extended absence. Come join us as we wade through these paragraphs of info.
Ladies and Gentlemen an old enemy of the entire vanguard community is back, but enough about shirayuki how about that Chaos Breaker support. Clan Selection continues today as we start to wind down on the first volume with the return of some old units who have left some deep scars on the game as a whole, and Jewel Knights i guess.
Finally at long last 2020 is over and the Sackboys celebrate by doing the same old song and dance they usually do but this time featuring bad shadow paladin support. After that we go on two extended tangents about Persona and Fire Emblem. Then there is a very heated discussion about everyone's favorite gentlemen thief Sly cooper as all the boys have a great fondness for this series.
It's Gears and Megacolony this time on card talk with the Sackboys one of them being really okay and the other bring kinda what the kids would call bonkers(on paper). After that we return to occasionally being a Record of Ragnarok podcast with a special announcement, and more gushing about Raiden. Finally we talk about Bleach for a bit mostly dumping on the Vizards much to our dismay.
Apologizes in advance for the lack of an episode last week and this one being delayed outside circumstances needed to be dealt with. However in this episode the Sackboys make their way through Clan Select catching up on what they missed last week. This includes the return of an old friend who is just dripping in flavor, following that Louis regales Conor, and Andrew with his experience at the first webcam Digimon tourney.
More Bermuda things today and the set continues to be somewhat interesting to talk about especially with the return of our old friend Tirua, Following that the sackboys play a game of the price is right with the current Vanguard market seeing how hard prices have tanked in the last few weeks.
Fishing season continues as the boys keep moving forward with Bermuda triangle being revisited by an old face. Following that we talk about the new banlist to much speculation, and potential of dinosaurs to be the dominant species yet again. Finally Louis leads Conor, and Andrew through the fever dream that is the latest Kingdom Hearts Game.
After much delay the Sackboys talk about the newest reveals from the Bermuda booster we have seen so far. During that time they talk about memories of vanguard past. Finally absolutely losing it at a certain collection of images which leaves them laughing mad.
Andrew returns for this episode for some quick Royal Paladin reveals before they jump into a nearly 40 minute long discussion about Record of Ragnarok which is honestly to be expected at this point. But not before a barrage of of King Crimson the likes of which we haven't seen in quite a while.
Andrew has gone missing and in his place Peter returns for an episode in which the boys go over the reprints and boss units for the new fighters collection. Reveling in the returning boss units and the despair of a certain clan's community.
After talking an unexpected hiatus last week the Sackboys return to speed blitz the reveals they missed. This leads to a thunder dragon assault and Conor being tempted by the potential of tool boxing from angels much to his disappointment. Finally an old threat resurfaces to bring despair about upon the whole community.
It's Genesis time dear listener as the Sackboys regal you with much joy as we talk about the return of one certain wolf boy as well as all the new toys that he has brought along side him, as well as some returning. We also make fun of Majesty Lord but that's pretty standard at this point.
An old Gold Paladin buddy has surfaced after a long absence much to the joy of Conor and in this episode the Sackboys go over him and his lack luster grade 2. This is followed by a return to Ragnarock with Louis caught up joining in on the long wait between chapters.
Back at it again with another episode of Card Talk the boys start off the discussion with some zesty new Genesis reveals that leave us wondering what is even happening anymore. Following that Andrew and Conor lead Louis through a very long discussion of humanity vs the gods with all the flair of a WWE match. Which is to say very very exciting.
This weeks episode is a bit scattered as we jump from topic to topic there is some vanguard in there but it's mostly JoJo. We do have a suprise cameo from an old friend who has returned from the pits of hell known as studying.
Another VR double header today with the sackboys as they explore the duality of bushiroads cards design with a panda that they all adore. As well as a navy man who doesn't seem to be quite himself leaving the boys looking else where for naval combat.
Old trauma's return on this episode of Card Talk as Shiranui makes his return much to Conor's eternal suffering. He however leaves the Sackboys feeling some sort of way much different then they expected. Followed by a return of Andrew's Great Nature Corner.
An old friend of Conor's returns along with some new toys to play with much to Andrew's terror. But he isn't alone in that error as Bushiroad announces that our collective favorite time of the year is around the corner. That's right ladies and gentlemen Fishing Season is coming soon.
The Sackboys have a nice economy discussion today as they talk about the way different online card games handle their models. Most of them are pretty feels bad if you can believe it. We also say somethings that would ensure that Wizard's of the Coast will never sponsor us.
It's Shadow Paladin theory time in this episode of Card Talk With the Sackboys as Luard, and Phantom Blaster Overlord have been revealed. Your three hosts start to read through and craft some way to build a deck around this new support. Which leads to us just throwing everything together.
VR's are being rapidly thrown out by Bushiroad and the Sackboys start to cover both of them going over a new football man who has a pretty cool skill. Then a Dinosaur that is......not cool not cool at all. But not before having a massive gush about how much they love Megacolony.
Another old face returns to vanguard as the sackboys discover a new love for bugs with the return of Gredora. Afterward they have a little discussions about some video games that they love but don't often get a chance to talk about, as well as some poor monetary decisions involving one League of Legends.
In our first episode of the new format the Sackboys after a brief Last of Us 2 discussion(skip to around 10 minutes in if you wanna avoid spoilers) they get into a full blown discussion on Naruto. Remembering the series along with some of their favorite moments from it, as well as least favorite. There is a lot of least favorite moments.
A new product stream has dropped leading to us getting a ton of new news for the future of our favorite card game. Including the return of an old flame of Conor's and she has somehow managed to maintain some of her old flavor. This is before some major announcements from the Sackboys about the future of our show, and Peter regales us with his hatred of mantis shrimp.
Bushiroad went and did it, after a week long wait Bushi shows us their new ban list and it goes exactly the way you think it would. The Sackboys discuss these changes to the premium format and continue to cover whatever is left of the over of Butterfly d'Moonlight(we still lacking a certain vampire princess but that will come eventually).
Are you guys exicted for more Bang Dream? That's a question the Sackboys ask themselves as they go over not 1 but 2 more bands. We are approaching the end folks in time the music will pass, one more to go.
Bushiroad has shown a lot of things these last two weeks, three vrs, a lot of triple rares, the kitchen sink you name it. The Sackboys cover all of them, with some slow violins for good measure. Afterwards much delay the sackboys finally reveal the premium decks made for each other and we got some out there ideas.
In this episode of not talking about Vanguard the Sackboys are in a very persona mood today with the release of Golden on steam. As such they are gonna spend today discussing the persona series (mainly 3, 4, and 5). Join us as we talk about our favorite character, games and try not to kill each other over best girl.
Silverdust Blaze finally comes to a close as the Sackboys cover the final reveals, followed by looking forward to whats to come, namely the absence of a regional circuit this year. In exchange we gain a new shop circuit that leaves the boys very excited.
Peter goes missing as the VR's of Silverdust Blaze with the return of THE OVERLORD and boy howdy the sackboys are whelmed by it. But before that we cover the second to last Band of the Bang Dream booster.
It's a party on this weeks episode as the saccboys are in high spirits despite less then stunning reveals. For Andrew an old friend returns with the reveal of Gallop, leading to a discussion about D-Police in and of itself. Following that the boys talk about the newly revealed set which has a few units which hold special significance to some of them, and this leads to a massive amount of speculation.
Bushiroad hits the Sackboys with a massive curveball as we continue to not get the remaining VR's from Silverdust Blaze, and instead jump ahead a set to join an old captain on a quest to obtain treasure.
